Enclosed you will find the Slamfest pools, pool play schedule and brackets. Be sure to locate all three of your pool games on the schedule and the gym where you play. The gyms will open about 30 minutes before the first game start time of the day. Each team will play a total of five games. I have tried to accommodate as many of the distant teams as possible with late morning first games, but obviously with as many teams as we have travelling 2-4 hours, and farther, it s very challenging to do so for every team. If any of you need additional motel rooms please make those arrangements immediately as the unused rooms in our room blocks will be released soon. The enclosed waiver form needs to be copied and signed by each player s parents...no waiver, no play! The waivers for your team(s) should be placed in a brown envelope with your team name on it and turned in when you check in at your first game. This is the first summer that we will have games being played at the new Kearney High School. When attending games at Kearney High please park on the WEST SIDE of the building off of 30th venue and enter the doors under the sign ctivities Entrance. lso, physical seating is limited when utilizing two courts at Kearney High. Fans CN bring in bag chairs at Kearney High if wanted. Please read through the Slamfest Notes page as it contains a lot of important information. In consideration of my participation, I hereby release and covenant not-to-sue Mr. Basketball, Inc., and any of its employees or agents, from any and all present and future claims resulting from ordinary negligence on the part of Mr. Basketball, Inc., or others listed for property damage, personal injury, or wrongful death, arising as a result of my participating in the Mr. Basketball Slamfest. I herby voluntarily waive any and all claims resulting from ordinary negligence, both present and future, that may be made by me, my family, estate, heirs, or assigns. Further, I am aware that participation in basketball may involve injury of some type. The severity of such injury can range from minor cuts, bruises, sprains, and muscle strains to more serious injuries to the body s bones, joints, ligaments, tendons or muscles, to catastrophic injuries to the head, neck, and spinal cord. On rare occasions, injuries can be so severe as to result in total disability, paralysis, or death. I am voluntarily participating in this activity with knowledge of the risks involved and hereby agree to accept any and all inherent risks of personal injury, property damage, or death. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mr. Basketball, Inc., and others listed for any and all claims arising as a result of my participation in the Mr. Basketball Slamfest, or any activities incidental thereto, wherever, whenever, or however the same may occur. I understand that this waiver is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of Nebraska and agree that if any portion is held invalid, the remainder of the waiver will continue in full legal force and effect. I further agree that the venue for any legal proceedings shall be in Nebraska. I affirm that I am of legal age and am freely signing this agreement. I have read this form and fully understand that by signing this form, I am giving up legal rights and/or remedies which may be available to me for the ordinary negligence of Mr. Basketball, Inc., or any of the parties listed above. By my signature hereunder, I warrant that I am in good physical condition, and am capable of full and active participation in the Mr. Basketball Slamfest. I certify that the participant is covered by medical insurance and accept responsibility for payment of all medical and related services arising from participation in the Mr. Basketball Slamfest. In addition, I/We being the parents or legal guardians of the participant authorize Mr. Basketball, Inc., and its agents permission to request emergency medical treatment or care as necessary to insure the well being of our dependent. 3 MY SLMFEST NOTES Bring your own basketballs for warm-ups! Games during this session will be held at the UNK Health & Sports Center. The courts at UNK are UN (North Court), UM (Middle Court) and US (South Court). t UNK, please park on the west side of the arena or in the large parking lot on the west side of 17th ve. ENTER THE HELTH & SPORTS CENTER on the west side near the thleta Statue. Please arrive 30 minutes before your first game and the site supervisor will get your team checked in. t this time, you will turn in your waiver forms and receive your coach s shirt. Please be at your game-site ready to play 20 minutes early throughout the weekend. Please ask your players to advise parents who are coming to watch the games that we will run ahead of schedule. We may start up to 20 minutes early. Clock operators will be provided. The clock operator will also keep a simple sheet that will track only individual & team fouls and timeouts. The score on the clock will be the official score. Pool play tie-breaker: Tie-breaker for seedings is determined by head-to-head competition. three way tie is broken first by calculating the highest average margin (20 point cap per game) to determine the top seed, then the remaining two-way tie is broken by head-to-head results. If you have any questions, talk to the site supervisor. Teams must leave the bench area immediately after their game to allow the next teams to get situated and begin their warmup. Coaches are asked to move their post game talks to another part of the gym, or outside. Please take all your trash with you (including sport drink bottles, tape, etc.). The event schedule will provide all teams five games. ny forfeits will be counted towards a team s five game guarantee, no refunds will be granted. Remember the following game rules: 1. Games will be made up of four 8-minute stop clock quarters. 2. Halftime will be 3-5 minutes (discretion of staff and officials). 3. Two full time-outs per half (use them or lose them) and one 30 second time-out that can be used in either half. 4. Overtime will be 2 minutes, each team gets one full time-out. 5. No bonus free throws will be shot during the first half. Teams will go into the bonus on the 7th team foul of the second half. No two-shot bonus on the tenth team foul in either half. 6. In the spirit of maintaining good sportsmanship, any game in which the point margin between the two teams reaches 30 points in the second half, the clock will stop for no reason other than a time-out.
