Fresno State signed 11 offensive players, nine defensive players and three athletes. Fresno State signed 17 players that last played high school or junior college football in California and six that did not. Fresno State signed 16 high school players and seven Juco players. Fresno State signed five players that played high school or junior college football in the San Joaquin Valley. - Chris Coleman (Memorial HS), Earl Chambers (Merced College), Arron Mosby (Sanger HS), Derrion Grim (Delta JC), Emeka Ndoh (Immanuel HS) Season ticket renewals and Fresno State scholarship fund donations are now open; the renewal period closes March 16. 2 2017 RECRUITING CLASS: QUARTERBACKS/RUNNING BACKS JORGE REYNA Quarterback Downey, California West Los Angeles College Pasadena (Class of 2015) RONNIE RIVERS Running Back Brentwood, California Freedom (Class of 2017) Named the Metro League Offensive Player of the Year. The dual threat quarterback completed 316-of-448 attempts (70.5 percent) for 3,646 yards and 39 touchdowns, with eight interceptions last season. He also recorded 106 carries for 386 yards and a total of seven TDs on the ground. Led the state in completions, completion percentage and passing yards per game. Member of the Downey HS football team before transferring to Pasadena HS for his senior season. In three seasons as a varsity quarterback, Reyna threw for 3,580 yards and 30 touchdowns. Reyna led Downey HS to the CIF Southeast Division Championship as a sophomore in JORDAN MIMS Running Back East Palo Alto, California Menlo-Atherton (Class of 2017) 2016 South Bay/Peninsula Offensive Player of the Year for the Bay Area News Group. All-Peninsula Athletic League Football (Bay Division) first-team offense selection as a junior and senior MaxPreps All-NorCal offensive second-team selection. Mims ran for 2,388 yards and 29 touchdowns as a senior, adding 17 catches for 275 yards and two more TDs. Menlo-Atherton captured the 2016 Central Coast Section Open Division 1 championship behind Mims scoring bursts of 76 and 72 yards in a contest his team won 17-0 over Milpitas. In total, Mims had 27 carries for 243 yards. Saving his best for last, the elusive and powerful tailback gained 312 yards (second career 300-yard game) on 23 carries and found the end zone four times in a win at Coach Parks Field in the Northern California Division 3-AA championship. Mims topped 200 yards five times during his senior season. Had four games with four or more TDs in Menlo-Atherton finished 2016 at As a junior the Menlo-Atherton tailback rushed for a single-game program record 321 yards against Aragon (totaled 395 all-purpose yards). One of six finalists for Cal-Hi Sports Mr. Football State Player of the Year. Named the 2016 Bay Valley League Most Valuable Player. The Mercury News East Bay Offensive Player of the Year 2016 MaxPreps All-NorCal Offensive Player of the Year. Prep2Prep All-North Coast Section Player of the Year. Rushed for 2,239 yards as a senior and scored 33 touchdowns. Posted 100-yard plus rushing performances in 11 of 13 games in On Oct. 7, 2016 Rivers rushed for a school-record 387 yards and seven touchdowns to lift the unbeaten Falcons past Antioch Rivers seven rushing touchdowns tied a school record previously held by Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon. The Freedom star rushed for 299 yards and scored six touchdowns five on the ground to lead his undefeated team to a victory over Pittsburg in a North Coast Section Open Division semifinal. Led BVAL with 38 total touchdowns in Threw a touchdown pass and caught two TDs in addition to his 33 rushing scores as a senior. The versatile Rivers also returned an interception for a touchdown in a win over Liberty, and returned two kickoffs for scores, including one in the CIF Division 1 NorCal final against St. Mary s-stockton. Guided Freedom to an 11-2 record in Bay Valley league champions (5-0) NCS Open Division Runner Up and 2016 CIF Nor Cal D1AA Runner Up. Named Impact Player by Junior Prep Sports Football Classic (Hawai i). 3 2017 RECRUITING CLASS: WIDE RECEIVERS/TGHT ENDS DERRION GRIM Wide Receiver Stockton, California Delta Junior College Nebraska Ronald E. McNair (Class of Dec. 2015) Rated by Scout.com as the No. 60 overall ranked Juco prospect in the nation. Recruited by Keith Williams to Nebraska, Grim enrolled early and participated in the Huskers 2016 spring practices... chose to transfer to hometown Delta Junior College during fall camp in August. During spring semester at Nebraska, was named to Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Grim made the NorCal All-Region I team after leading Delta College with 931 yards and 10 touchdowns on 58 receptions in Named the San Joaquin Athletic Association (SJAA) Offensive Player of the Year, and also the Stockton Record All-Area Player of the Year as a senior. Named him a first-team All-American by Parade Magazine (February 2016). As a senior at McNair, Grim caught 96 passes for 1,928 yards and 34 TDs. Posted 2,478 total yards offense and 37 scores. Set California state record for receiving yards (1,928) in a single-season. Grim had more than 200 receiving yards four times as a senior, and caught at least eight passes in eight of the 10 games he played. He had a season-high six touchdown receptions in a season-opening win over Calaveras High, and had two additional games with four touchdown receptions. As a junior, Grim was a first-team all-area selection when he caught 35 passes for 637 yards and 10 touchdowns despite missing several games. Off the field, Grim was honored for achieving a 4.0 grade-point average for two consecutive semesters at Ronald E. McNair. On Sept. 12, 2016: named SoCal Legends Prep Boys Athlete of the Week after he scored four total touchdowns - a 67-yard fake punt run, an 80-yard kick return and reception returns of 80 and 40 yards to lead Morningside in a nonleague road win over Compton Centennial. Labeled a one-man wrecking crew for Morningside as a receiver, defensive back and kick returner by South Bay Pure Preps. Tallied 491 yards receiving with 22 receptions with five touchdowns as a junior Basketball All-Bay League second-team selection. Rated the No. 6 offensive lineman by Canadian Football Chat. Named a Class of 2017 Canadian Football Chat Top 100 (#CFC100) player. Attended AllOut Factory Football camp (NCAA Tour) on July 23, 2016 at Eastern Michigan University. Participated in the invite-only Quebec Elite Combine Series. Named to Best of the Best list by 247Sports.com prior to junior season after Ohio State s One-Day summer Camp. DONTAE BULL Offensive Line Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Belmont Secondary (Class of 2017) Named the 2016 Subway Provincial Defensive Player of the Year. Named to 2016 Subway Provincial AAA All-Star Team Named a Class of 2017 Canadian Football Chat Top 100 (#CFC100) player. Named Belmont Secondary s MVP the past two seasons. Played on the offensive and defensive lines as a senior. Belmont s running backs carried the ball 170 times for 818 yards (4.81 yards per carry) over nine games (2016). Recorded 22 tackles in nine games (2016). Invited to play in the inaugural High Roller Football Showdown in Las Vegas (Feb. 11, 2016). Has been utilized at tight end in addition to the line. Key member of the Belmont basketball team, averaging 25 points and 20 rebounds in the midst of his senior season. Selected to 2016 All-NSCIF First Team Defense. A 2016 Division 4-A state champion and 2016 Northern Section Division II champions. Part of an offense that scored 38.5 points during an eight-game winning streak, outscoring opponents by 169 points. Offense amassed 2,894 passing yards and 2,112 rushing yards during senior season. Four-year varsity player. Lost one game in four years to North Section opponents. Anchored both the offensive and defensive lines for Pleasant Valley Participated in Polynesian Bowl on Jan. 21, QUIREO WOODLEY Offensive Line Murrieta, California Murrieta Valley (Class of 2016) Garnered 2015 first-team All-Southwestern League and 2015 Press Enterprise All-Area honorable mention accolades. Helped lead Murrieta Valley to a 9-3 record and 4-1 mark in the Southwestern League (second place). Ranked as the sixth-best offensive guard in California by Scout.com and 97thbest overall... named a first-team All-Southwestern League selection as a junior. Other Initially committed to Fresno State on national signing day on Feb. 3, 2016 worked through NCAA eligibility issues and will honor commitment to the Bulldogs once again after attending classes at Fresno City College during the fall of ZELAN TUPUOLA Offensive Line Carson, California JSerra Catholic (Class of 2017) Ranks as Scout.com s No. 64 guard in the nation and No. 7 in California. In 2016, the JSerra offense averaged yards rushing yards per game and saw 14 scores come via the ground game. Overall, the squad produced yards per contest. Tupuola participated in the inaugural Polynesia Bowl on Jan. 21 at Aloha Stadium. In sole season at Carson, Tupuola was the only freshman starting on Varsity. 5 2017 RECRUITING CLASS: DEFENSIVE LINE RICHARD CAGE Defensive Lineman Corona, California Eleanor Roosevelt (Class of 2017) Honorable Mention All-Area football team selection by HS GameTime. Ranked as the eighth-best outside linebacker prospect in California by Scout.com. Played in all 13 games for the Mustangs as a senior in 2016, leading Roosevelt to a 10-3 mark and a 4-1 mark in the Big VIII conference to finish second. Led the Big VIII conference as a senior with 13 sacks topping second place by five sacks. Tied for the seventh-most tackles for a loss in the conference with 9.5. Made 59 tackles (20 solo) and added two forced fumbles in Offered by four other Mountain West schools and Arizona of the Pac-12 according to Scout.com. DAMIEN DEGRUY Defensive Lineman Harvey, Louisiana EMEKA NDOH Defensive Lineman Reedley, California De Anza College Immanuel (Class of 2015) 2016 NCFS All-Bay 6 League selection. Recorded 36 tackles (24 solo), 11 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and a pass break up as a sophomore. Ranked fourth in the Bay 6 League in total sacks (7.0). Had a season-high six tackles at San Joaquin Delta along with two tackles for a loss and a sack. Ranked as the 18th-best junior college strong-side defensive end by 247 Sports and 53rd-best junior college prospect in California. GridironRR.com ranked Ndoh as the No. 9 Juco defensive line prospect in the nation. Played as a junior at Hanford and transferred to Immanuel High School (Reedley) for his senior year. McDonogh (Class of 2017) Helped lead McDonogh to a 13-2 record as a senior with a 5-1 mark in the District 9 conference. Led the Roneagles to the Louisiana HS state semifinals where they fell to Edna Karr on Dec. 2. Attended West Jefferson HS his first three years of high school where he played tight end for the Buccaneers. Ranked as the 83rd-best recruit in Louisiana by 247Sports.com. VarsityPreps.com listed DeGruy in its 20 most underrated players in Louisiana list entering his senior year. Picked up at least 16 offers according to 247Sports.com, including Florida Atlantic, Memphis (decommited), Southern Miss, SMU and UTSA. TJ MAUGA Defensive Lineman Fallon, Nevada Churchill County (Class of 2017) Earned a spot on the Class 3A All-North Region first-team. Named to the Nevadapreps.com All-State second-team defense. Appeared in 11 games for the Greenwave as a senior and advanced to the second round of the NIAA Football Playoffs. Led the Northern League with eight sacks and ranked second in the conference in tackles for loss (18). Made 73 tackles (60 solo), 18 tackles for a loss and had eight sacks as a senior. Added four pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Brother is Josh Mauga, a 7-year NFL veteran and current member of the Kansas City Chiefs (ILB). 6 2017 RECRUITING CLASS: DEFENSIVE BACKS MATT BOATENG Ajax, Ontario, Canada Arizona Western College IMG Academy, Florida (Class of 2014) WYLAN FREE Compton, California Lynwood (Class of 2017) A Big 12 commit (Kansas) after 2013 senior season at IMG Academy. Boateng played in eight games in 2014 as a true freshman for the Jayhawks. Recorded nine tackles while posting a team third-best five pass breakups along with one interception at Kansas. In 12 games at Arizona Western he had 27 tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups. A three-star prospect according to ESPN.com out of the IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida). Named one of the top six Canadians heading to an NCAA program in 2014 by NFL.com. He helped lead IMG Academy to an 8-2 mark finishing the 2013 season with 40 tackles, including 25 solo stops and was credited with one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Selected to participate in the 2011 Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl, where he was named defensive player of the game after helping lead Team Canada to a win over Team USA. EARL CHAMBERS Brooklyn, New York UAB Merced College Jefferson Davis, Alabama (Class of 2014) Committed to UAB following two seasons at Merced College. Despite committing to UAB in the spring of 2016, never played as the Blazers were preparing to return to competition in 2017; he was a part of a UAB recruiting class that ranked No. 2 in Conference USA despite not competing in As a sophomore at Merced College in 2015; recorded 52 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, one interception and four pass deflections. Had 95 tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in two seasons with the Blue Devils Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team selection. As a senior, posted 83 tackles, five for a loss, 39 pass deflections, three interceptions and a fumble recovery. Accumulated 675 yards of total offense during season, catching 308, rushing for 207 and throwing for 160. Accounted for nine touchdowns. During junior season, recorded 56 tackles (40 solo), two tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, and broke up 11 passes. Caught 15 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. Three-star recruit according to Scout. ARRON MOSBY Sanger, California Sanger (Class of 2017) Fresno Bee Football All-Star Jive 75 (2016). CMAC First-Team Defense (2016). Two-way starter at receiver and cornerback. Helped lead Sanger to section Division II Valley championship and County/ Metro League Championship. Two-time all-league defensive back. SHERMAN COLEMAN Houston, Texas Cisco College Westside (Class of 2014) As a redshirt sophomore, Coleman had 24 tackles, seven pass breakups and a fumble recovery for Cisco last season Contributed as a kick returner for Cisco as well as for the secondary. 7 2017 RECRUITING CLASS: ATHLETES CHRIS COLEMAN Athlete Bakersfield, California Garces Memorial (Class of 2017) ZANE POPE Athlete Moorpark, California Moorpark (Class of 2017) Bakersfield Californian Southwest Yosemite League second-team offense (WR) selection. Named to first-team BVarsity All-Area defensive Football Team. Had 25 tackles and four interceptions (second-most in the SW Yosemite league) in 10 games. Posted 29 receptions for 459 yards (ninth-most yards in the SW Yosemite league) and six touchdowns; carried the ball 20 times for 130 yards. Played under by A.J. Gass, an all-conference linebacker for the Bulldogs in 1996 and 97, at Garces Memorial. Coleman spent the majority of his high school career at West Bakersfield High School, playing quarterback. Transferred to Garces Memorial for his senior season where he played cornerback and receiver. At West Bakersfield as a junior, passed for 1,650 yards (104-of-187) and 14 touchdowns (eight INTs) in 12 games; he ran the ball 131 times for 480 yards and scored twice. Bakersfield Californian South Yosemite League first-team offense (QB) selection. DANIEL MORAGA Athlete Oxnard, California Ventura Star s All-County First-Team Defensive First-Team. Named the 2016 Camino League Wide Receiver of the Year. County coaches voted him co-receiver of the Year (2016). He finished his senior season with 60 catches for 1,005 yards on offense and three interceptions and 52 tackles on defense. Moorpark went 7-4 record this past season and made the playoffs for first time since 2012.; Pope was the top target entering the playoffs with 51 catches for 839 yards and nine TDs (12 total) during the regular season. In a loss during the opening round of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs, Pope had touchdown receptions of 72 and 28 yards before taking a hit with 40 seconds left in the half that ended his night owned seven catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns for the game in one half of football. The full range of Pope s talents were on display in one amazing performance against powerhouse Calabasas (Nov. 4, 2016). The senior nearly singlehandedly took down the eventual Division 5 champion in a loss. He caught six passes for 56 yards, returned a kick 99 yards for a touchdown and set up another score with a 50-yard return while playing also playing cornerback. Invited to the 44th Annual Ventura County All-Star Football Game hauled in a 52-yard touchdown from Westlake High quarterback Dax Blinn. Pacifica (Class of 2017) Named to the Ventura Star s 2016 All-County Offensive First-Team. County coaches voted him co-receiver of the Year. (2016) Named the 2016 Pacific View League Receiver of the Year. The senior led Ventura County with 1,087 yards receiving, despite missing the final two games of the season with a shoulder injury. Posted 60 receptions and 11 touchdowns with his 1,087 receiving yards. Moraga set a school single-game record with a 253-yard, three-td performance in the win over Camarillo on Sept. 9. Led by Moraga, Pacifica averaged 35.3 points per game and scored 44 or more points four times. Set school record in career receptions, (145) and interceptions (12). Was a four-year starter at Pacifica. Daniel is one of the top five football players I have ever coached, said Pacifica head coach Mike Moon (VCS). FRESNO STATE FOOTBALL 7
