This is a matchup of the two programs that met in the 2015 Mountain West title game (won by SDSU, 27-24). n The Aztecs and Falcons are meeting for the 36th time, with Air Force owning a advantage. San Diego State has won the last seven meetings (longest active streak vs. AFA in the nation, counts series since 1980), including four in a row in San Diego. The last Air Force victory in the series came on Sept. 26, n Rocky Long owns 11 career victories against the Air Force Academy. That is the most among active coaches nationally (five more than Ken Niumatalolo (Navy) and Gary Patterson (TCU)). n San Diego State s 4-1 record is rated as the 16th best strength of record according to ESPN. This week, the Aztecs have 24 points in the AP Top 25 poll (good for 29th position) and 25 points in the Coaches Poll (good for 31st position). n According to Jeff Sagarin s computer rankings, San Diego State has faced the most difficult schedule to date among Mountain West teams and its schedule difficulty ranks 39th nationally. n The Aztecs are 35-7 in their last 42 overall games and 23-4 in their last 27 games against MW opponents. n San Diego State owned a +1 turnover margin in Saturday s victory at Boise State. The Aztecs have now won 25 consecutive games when owning a TO advantage. That is the nation s longest active streak, five more than the second-longest streak (Oklahoma, 20). n Last Saturday, SDSU produced one of the best defensive performances in college football this season, limiting the nation s eighthranked total offense to 229 yards (Boise s lowest output since Aug. 31, 2012 and lowest in a home game since Oct. 24, 1998). The 13 points are the fewest scored by the Broncos in at home since Sept. 20, 2012 and fewest regardless of location since Dec. 27, n Redshirt freshman cornerback Darren Hall earned Mountain West Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors for the second time this season with a team-high nine tackles (eight solo), an interception, a forced fumble and a sack. Hall posted interceptions on consecutive plays that he was on the field (final defensive snap of overtime win vs. Eastern Michigan and his first play (second offensive series) against Boise State on Saturday). n According to Pro Football Focus, junior linebacker Kyahva Tezino is the best interior linebacker in the nation. His rating of 20.6 is tops in the nation and his 10 combined sacks/quarterback hits are the most among all linebackers. n In its last 18 drives defended, San Diego State has allowed the opposition more than 29 yards (in the total drive) just one time. In 10 of those drives, the opponent has gained a total of seven or less yards. n Junior quarterback Ryan Agnew improved to 3-0 as a starter, playing turnover-free football while passing for 113 yards on just eight completions. Since Jeff Horton took over as offensive coordinator (2015), Agnew has produced three of the top 10 single games in yards per completion (min. 15 att). His average of at Boise State is 10th on that list. CAREER FG PCT. / ACTIVE FBS PLAYERS (min. 20 FGM) Rk. Player, School Pct. 1. 3 SAN DIEGO STATE GAME NOTES / vs. Air Force / Oct. 12, 2018 page 3 n Since the start of the 2013 campaign when the league split into two divisions, San Diego State (32-9) owns the best record in Mountain West action. Boise State (32-10) is second. n San Diego State is one of only seven schools nationally to record 10 or more victories in each of the last three seasons (Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, San Diego State and Wisconsin). n San Diego State is one of the youngest teams in the nation. In each of the last two games, SDSU has played more freshmen than seniors (No. 23/25 Arizona State: 9 seniors, 14 freshmen; Eastern Michigan: 10 seniors, 14 freshmen; at rv/no. 24 Boise State: 11 seniors, 14 freshmen). n SDSU has had 13 seniors see the field this season, logging a total of 34 starts (6.8 per game) and 54 games played (10.8 per game). n Five San Diego State seniors have started every game in AZT Parker Baldwin, LB Ronley Lakalaka, DE Anthony Luke, DE Chibu Onyeukwu and RT Ryan Pope. Only one of those players (Pope) is on the offensive side of the ball. n In its five games this year, San Diego State s defense has allowed just yards and 19.8 points per game. In the other games for SDSU s opponents, Stanford, Sacramento State, Arizona State, Eastern Michigan and Boise State have averaged yards and 32.4 points per game. MISSING IN ACTION As previously noted, San Diego State won its fourth consecutive game Saturday, defeating Boise State, The Aztecs got the win despite the fact that six starters missed at least part of the contest. Check-in for the event will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the program to follow at noon. Later that evening, the 2018 class will also be honored at halftime of SDSU's home football game against Air Force, which is set to kick off at 6 p.m. Since its launch in 1988, the Aztec Hall of Fame has honored 148 individuals and six teams (not including this year's enshrinees), welcoming a new group of legends each year through Inductions encountered a two-year hiatus while the Aztec Athletics Center (now Fowler Athletics Center) was under construction. KICKING IT WITH JBII San Diego State football s John Baron II has established himself as one of the top placekickers in the country. The senior has already earned the Mountain West Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honors three times this season and, despite playing his home games at sea level, he is the nation s active leader in field goal percentage (min. 20 FGM). He has earned conference player of the week accolades following each of San Diego State s last three games and now has won the honor four times in his career. On the season, Baron is 10-for-11 (.909) on field goal attempts and Baron 8-for-8 on PATs, while recording 18 touchbacks in 26 kickoffs. He ranks in a tie for first in FBS in PAT percentage (1.000), tied for third in field goals per game (2.00) and tied for 11th in field goal percentage (.909). Baron is also one of five kickers with three field goals of at least 50 yards and one of three that is a perfect 3-for-3 from 50 or more yards. For his career, Baron has made 43 of 49 field goal attempts. Among active FBS kickers with at least 20 made field goals, Baron ranks first in field goal percentage (.878) and 14th in field goals per game (1.34). At SDSU, Baron ranks first in field goal percentage (.878), fourth in PATs (116), and fifth in field goals (43) and PAT percentage (.983). Baron has already set the school record for most field goals from 50+ yards in a single season (3) and in a career (4). Here is a look at Baron s recent performances in games. This past week, Baron was 2-for-2 in field goals, with makes from 36 and 41 yards, made his only extra point attempt and had four touchbacks on five kickoffs (his non-touchback resulted in the Broncos starting at its own 26-yard line). n In the victory over Eastern Michigan, Baron was 3-for-4 on field goal attempts and 2-for-2 on PATs. The senior hit a 34-yarder in the first quarter to put SDSU on top, a 50-yarder to tie the game at with 1:16 left in the fourth quarter and a 38-yarder to win the game in overtime. Baron also kicked off five times for 275 yards (55.0 avg.) and four touchbacks. If you take away the one squib he kicked off, he would ve averaged a perfect 65.0 average (four for 260 yards) on the other four attempts. n The week before, Baron helped the Aztecs down No. 23/25 Arizona State on Saturday, making both of his field goal attempts and both PATs. Baron s first field goal was a career-long 54-yard kick, which put SDSU up, 17-14, midway through the third quarter and gave San Diego State a lead it would not relinquish. The 54-yard field goal is tied for the second longest in school history. He later added a 36-yard field goal to give the Aztecs a lead. Baron also kicked off six times for 361 yards (60.2 avg.) with two touchbacks. If you take away the squib kick he booted with seconds remaining in the first half, he would have averaged a perfect 65.0 yards per kickoff. 3+ MADE FIELD GOALS OF 50+ YDS, 2018 Rk. Since the beginning of the 2015 season, the Aztecs rank third nationally in rushing yards allowed per game (110.3) and second in rushing yards per attempt (3.2). In 2018, San Diego State is second in rushing yards allowed per game (61.8) and second in rushing yards per carry (2.0). In four of the five games this season, the opposition is averaging 1.8 yards per carry or less. That has been on display so far this season. In the opener, the Aztecs held 13th-ranked Stanford to 50 yards rushing on 28 carries for a 1.8 average and no rushing touchdowns. In Stanford s other five games to date, the Cardinal has rushed 138 times for 464 yards, 3.4 per rush average. and 92.8 yards per game. Against Sacramento State, the Hornets carried 31 times for 53 yards for a 1.7-yard per carry average. In its other three games Sacramento State carried 111 times for 669 yards, 6.0 yards per carry, rushing yards per game and 11 rushing touchdowns. In the contest against Arizona State, the Aztecs held the Sun Devils to season lows in rushing yards (36) and yards per rush (1.5). San Diego State has defended 158 rushing plays this season and has yet to allow a rush for more than 16 yards. Below are a few tidbits on the significance of that season-opening performance against No. 13 Stanford: n Stanford s 50 yards rushing were its fewest in a game since being held to 29 yards at No. 10 Washington on Sept. 30, n The 50 yards rushing were its fewest against an unranked team since rushing for -8 yards at Oregon State on Oct. 27, n No team (ranked or unranked) had held the Cardinal to as few as 50 yards rushing in a Stanford home game since No. 23 Arizona State held them to -2 yards on Sept. 29, n Also, Bryce Love was held in check by the Aztec defense, amassing just 29 yards on 18 carries (1.6 average). In his career up to that point, he had 22 games with at least seven carries and his 29 yards rushing are 22 fewer than he had in any of those contests. In fact, entering the SDSU game, he had at least 100 yards rushing in 14 of the last 15 :: FBS RUSHING YARDS ALLOWED PER GAME SINCE 2015 / FBS Rk. School Gms. Rush RYPG 1. The 1.6 yard average is the lowest of his career for any game in which he had at least five carries. THE NATION S BEST LINEBACKER Junior linebacker Kyahva Tezino has not only established himself as a leader on the defensive side of the ball, he is beginning to assert himself as one of the most impactful players in college football. This past Saturday, he may have been the most dominant player on the field in the victory over Boise State. Tezino was strong against the run with (according to Pro Football Focus) nine defensive stops, with six coming on run attempts. He performed well in coverage as well with just 21 total receiving yards allowed in coverage on three receptions. Once again, he was sensational providing pressure with one sack, four quarterback hits and two hurries. His five combined sacks/qb hits Saturday were the most by any linebacker in the nation last week and Tezino now has more combined sacks/qb hits (10) than any other LB in the nation. He now has the top Pro Football Focus grade of any inside linebacker in the nation (20.6), 4.3 percent higher than any other player. He is credited with 11 quarterback hurries and seven quarterback hits to go along with team highs in tackles (39), tackles for loss (4.5) and quarterback sacks (3). He has played the most snaps on the defensive side of the ball (332). Tezino has been a constant disrupter of offenses since earning his first start midway through his 2017 sophomore campaign. He has now started 10 consecutive games and posted the following numbers in those contests: 95 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss. Tezino MEET CHASE JASMIN Sophomore running back Chase Jasmin is slated to earn his second start on Friday against Air Force. A native of Agoura Hills, Calif., Jasmin started the season as the backup to Juwan Washington, but has moved up the depth chart following the injury to the Maxwell Award Watch List candidate against Eastern Michigan. Although he has 43 carries for 311 yards, a 4.5 average, and two touchdowns this season, he has made the most of his opportunities. Below are a few notes on Jasmin s performance to date: n According to Pro Football Focus, Jasmin ranks first in Elusive Rating (113.8) among Mountain West running backs this season. n Of his 69 carries this season, he has 21 avoided tackles. That is the third-highest figure in the Mountain West despite starting just one game (Juwan Washington is still the leader with 28 despite not playing since the second quarter of the Sept. 22nd game). n He already has four carries of 15+ yards, meaning that he logs a rush of at least 15 yards every 10.8 carries. In addition, he also has posted eight carries of at least 10 yards this season. n Through the first two games of this season, Jasmin had played a total of 70 offensive snaps in his career. That has changed recently as he posted career highs in the category in three consecutive games vs. Arizona State (26 snaps) and Eastern Michigan (32 snaps) and Boise State (53 snaps). DEATH, TAXES AND TRENTON THOMPSON Sophomore safety Trenton Thompson is playing the best football of his career. He has played 217 snaps through five games this season after playing a total of 61 snaps entering the season. Tidbits on the ultra reliable Thompson: n Thompson has 26 tackles this season (3rd on the team) with zero missed tackles. n In 2018, Thompson has more tackles without a missed tackle than any other safety in the Mountain West. n In his career, the sophomore has played 277 defensive snaps and has been credited with just one missed tackle (Nov. 5, 2016 vs. Hawai i). n As if one missed tackle was not impressive enough, Thompson also has been whistled for one career penalty. AGNEW MAKING HIMSELF AT HOME AT QB Junior quarterback Ryan Agnew has gotten off to a 3-0 start as a starter at the position for San Diego State, leading the Aztecs to victories over No. 23/25 Arizona State, Eastern Michigan and at rv/no. 24 Boise State. n Prior to entering the game against Sacramento State on Sept. 8 (for the injured Christian Chapman), Agnew had attempted a total of nine passes and no more than three in a given game. n In his three games as a starter, Agnew is 32-of-61 (52.5 percent) for 418 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He has a quarterback rating of In addition, he has rushed for 54 yards total in his three starts. n Agnew has passed for at least 113 yards in each of his three starts. The Aztecs reached the 129-yard passing mark in just two of the eight games prior to Agnew s starts. n He became the first quarterback from a Group of 5 school to defeat a nationally-ranked school from a Power 5 school in his first start since Sept. 26, 2009 when B.J. Daniels, USF defeated 18th-ranked Florida State. Jasmin Thompson Agnew SERIES NOTES n This is the 36th meeting between San Diego State and Air Force with the Falcons owning a series lead. n The Aztecs have won a school-record seven straight games in the series. That is the longest active win streak against the Academy. n During the current seven-game series winning streak, SDSU has outscored Air Force, n The Aztecs have a 9-7 series advantage in games played in San Diego. San Diego State has won four straight home games against the Academy. n Rocky Long owns an 11-6 record in his career against Air Force. That is the most among all active FBS coaches, five more than Ken Niumatalolo (Navy) and Gary Patterson (TCU). n Thirteen of the last 24 games in the series have been decided by seven points or less. Of those 12 games, three have been decided by one point, one decided by two points, one decided by three points, two decided by four points, one decided by five points, two decided by six points (one that went to overtime) and three decided by seven points. n This will mark the 35th time in the last 38 years the two teams have played. Air Force and San Diego State have tangled every season since 1980 with the lone exceptions being 1995, 1998 and n Since 1994, the team that has committed fewer turnovers has lost just twice in the series. The teams have played 20 times since 1994, with the team turning the ball over less posting a 14-2 record (five ties: in 1997, TOs were tied at one apiece, AFA won in overtime; in 2008, each team had two turnovers in a Falcons win; in 2010 each team had one turnover in SDSU s win; in 2014 each team had one turnover in SDSU s victory and in 2017 each team had one turnover in SDSU s 28-24). The 2013 and 2015 games are the only times during that span that the team with more turnovers (2013: SDSU (2), defeated the team with fewer turnovers, Air Force (1), 27-20, and 2015: SDSU (1) defeated the team with fewer turnovers Air Force (0), 27-14). n Rocky Long s influence is evident in the series. Since taking over the Aztec defense nine years ago, Long s unit has allowed an average of 21.1 points and rushing yards per game. Compare that to the two meetings prior (2007 and 2008), when the Aztecs gave up 45.0 points and rushing yards per game. n SDSU-AIR FORCE TIDBITS: This is the 19th time in 20 seasons the teams have played... The Falcons won the first three encounters during the MW era, but San Diego State has won 11 of the last 15 meetings... The games in the series have typically featured plenty of offense... In the last 22 meetings, the games had a combined average of 54.0 points and yards of total offense... Only

AIR FORCE-SAN DIEGO STATE CONNECTIONS n San Diego State quarterbacks coach Blane Morgan attended, played for and later coached at Air Force. He earned his bachelor s degree from the Academy in 1999 and in his two years as starter at quarterback posted a 19-3 record, owning the highest career winning percentage by any signal caller in Falcons history and is the only QB in school history to guide the team to an outright conference title. As a senior, Morgan let AFA to a 12-1 record and earned WAC offensive player of the year accolades. n Morgan coached at Air Force from in three different capacities, serving as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach from During his tenure as offensive coordinator, the Falcons posted a record (57.3 percent), advancing to seven bowl games in that eight-year span. The team also ranked 24th nationally in passing efficiency rating (139.1) and third nationally in yards per completion (14.82). n San Diego State assistant AD of football operations, Jashon Sykes, played two seasons for the Denver Broncos ( ) when Air Force head coach, Troy Calhoun, was the team s defensive assistant (2003) and offensive assistant/special teams (2004). COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Rashaad Penny scored three times, including a 53-yard run with 5:39 remaining to lift No. 22/25 San Diego State to a win over Air Force on a wet and stormy night Saturday night in Colorado Springs, Colo. Penny also scored from 2 yards out and from 20 yards as the Aztecs (4-0, 1-0 MW) and Falcons (1-2, 0-1 MW) had to weather an hour and 28-minute lightning delay midway through the first quarter. The game also featured five fumbles (one lost), an interception, a blocked punt and a missed field goal. SDSU improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1981 and for just the second time in the last 42 years. San Diego State also won as a ranked team for the first time since Nov. 21, It was the sixth straight win for the Aztecs and 25th victory over their last 28 games. Utah (S.12) (Safety) After trading punts, Air Force got the ball in good field position at the SDSU 35 after a 17-yard boot. San Diego State, however, was able to keep the Falcons to a field goal and Luke Strebel made a 45-yarder with a stiff and rainy headwind to take a 9-0 lead. On their ensuing drive, the Aztecs appeared to be heading for their third 3 and out, but a roughing the kicker call on a punt allowed SDSU to have another chance. Right before San Diego State s next play, lightning struck in the area and play would not resume again until an hour and 28 minutes later. On the Aztecs first play out of the delay, quarterback Christian Chapman found Kahale Warring for a 42-yard pass that got SDSU all the way to the AFA 12. Four plays later Rashaad Penny punched it in from 2 yards to put San Diego State on the scoreboard with 5:55 left in the second quarter. The Aztecs got all the way to the 10 on their first drive of the second half, but Chapman was sacked and fumbled, keeping the score at 9-7. SDSU forced a 3 and out, and used a methodical 11-play, 73-yard drive over 5:21 to take its first lead of the game on a 20-yard run by Penny with 1:49 left in the third quarter. Early in the fourth quarter, Air Force blocked a Brandon Heicklen punt and ended up with the ball on the San Diego State 4. Two players later Arion Worthman pounded it in from the 1 and, after a successful 2-point conversion, the Falcons went back up at 17-14, with 12:35 left in the fourth quarter. The Aztecs wasted no time responding, using just three plays to take back their lead when Chapman found David Wells from 28 yards out off a play-action pass. AFA took back the lead at with 6:16 left as Tim McVey finished an 11-play, 75-yard drive with a 12-yard run down the sideline. SDSU once again used a short drive with two explosive plays - a 22-yard pass from Chapman to Mikah Holder and a 53-yard run by Penny - to take back the lead at with 5:39 left. After the team traded punts, Air Force had one last chance to win it with just over two minutes left, but Trey Lomax intercepted Worthman s fourth-down pass to seal the win for San Diego State, its school-record seventh straight over the Falcons. Penny finished with 128 yards on 20 carries (6.4 avg.), his fourth consecutive game with at least 100 yards, and tied a career high with the three touchdowns. Chapman passed for 180 yards and a touchdown, completing 10 of 16 passes. Parker Baldwin led the Aztec defense with 13 tackles. The Aztecs (4-1, 1-0 MW) sacked Bronco quarterback Brett Rypien four times and recorded three interceptions (two vs. Rypien), handing BS just its eighth loss at home since SDSU held a Boise State team, which came into the day averaging yards per game, to just 229 yards of total offense. It was the Broncos fewest amount of yards in a game since gaining 206 against No. 13 Michigan State on Aug. 31, 2012 and fewest in a home game since recording 203 vs. Utah State on Oct. 24, San Diego State held Rypien, the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year, to 170 yards passing, completing 21 of 41 attempts with no touchdowns and two interceptions. The Aztecs got on the scoreboard early in the first quarter when cornerback Darren Hall picked off Rypien on the BS 33-yard line and ran it to the 24. Unable to get a first down, SDSU settled for a 36-yard field goal by John Baron II. San Diego State forced a 3 and out on Boise State s ensuing drive, but Ethan Dedeaux muffed a Quinn Skillin punt and the Broncos recovered it on the Aztec 4-yard line. Three plays later Alex Mattison punched it in from 1-yard out to put the Broncos on top, 7-3. Late in the first quarter, SDSU Warrior (safety) Tariq Thompson made a one-handed interception on a Rypien throw to give the ball back to San

9 SAN DIEGO STATE GAME NOTES / vs. Air Force / Oct. 12, 2018 page 9 Diego State. The Aztecs got into BS territory, but BJ Busbee fumbled away the ball at the Boise State 14 after a catch from Ryan Agnew. After another 3 and out forced by SDSU, the Bronco punter Skillin dropped the snap, giving the visitors the ball on the 31- yard line. San Diego State got to the 4 on a 24-yard pass from Agnew to Kahale Warring and 3-yard gain by Chase Jasmin, but a pair of penalties, an incomplete pass and a sack pushed the Aztecs out of the red zone. SDSU had to once again settle for a 41-yard field goal by Baron. San Diego State recorded its third interception of the game midway through the second quarter when Kyhava Tezino pressured Chase Cord into throwing an interception to linebacker Ronley Lakalaka. This time, the Aztecs got into the end zone thanks to a pass interference penalty and a 2-yard touchdown run by Jasmin, making it BS made one last ditch effort to end the first half, converting a fourth-and-1 to get to the SDSU 31. After an incomplete pass, Hall sacked Rypien from his blind side, effectively putting Boise State out of field goal range and keeping the score at 13-7 at the half. Neither team scored in the third quarter, setting up an important final 15 minutes of play. On San Diego State s first drive of the fourth quarter, Byrd took a pitch on third-and-2 down the sidelines 72 yards for his first career touchdown. The score came on just his fourth career carry. WASHINGTON OFF TO BIG START Junior running back Juwan Washington was enjoying a tremendous start to his role as the featured back in the San Diego State offense. He ranked among the national leaders in nearly every category after joining Rashaad Penny and Marshall Faulk as the only Aztec players to produce 150-yard rushing efforts in the opening two games of the season. After opening with games of 158,156 and 138 yards rushing, he suffered a broken clavicle late in the second quarter of the fourth game of the season against Eastern Michigan. The current estimate is that he will miss approximately six weeks. Among his early season highlights prior to the injury: n Washington s entered the Eastern Michigan game with these national rankings: first in forced missed tackles (28, nine more than any other player in the country; courtesy Pro Football Focus), third in rushing yards after contact (291), fourth in rushing yards per game (150.7), fifth in all-purpose yards per game (190.0) and ninth in rushing TDs (5). n Washington joins Marshall Faulk (1992) and Rashaad Penny (2017) as the only running backs in SDSU history to open a season with consecutive 150-yard rushing games. n Against Sacramento State, Washington became the 20th player in school history with at least 1,500 career rushing yards. n Against Stanford, Washington averaged 6.6 yards per carry, which is the highest by any Aztec player with at least 15 carries against an AP Top 25 opponent since Ronnie Hillman (24 carries, 191 yards) averaged 8.0 yards per carry against No. 22 Air Force on Oct. 16, By comparison, recent SDSU running backs best against top 25 foes were Donnel Pumphrey s 5.9 average at No. 21 North Carolina on Sept. 6, 2014 and Rashaad Penny s 5.5 average against No. 19 Stanford on Sept. 16, n Washington has carried 57 times on first down for 314 yards (an average of 5.5 yards per carry). In his career, the junior has averaged 6.0 yards per carry on first down. n This season he has six rushes of at least 20 yards and now has 19 rushes for at 20+ yards in his career. Unfortunately, Chapman was unable to finish the game, suffering a MCL sprain that at the time was expected to keep him out somewhere between three and six weeks. In addition to being the signal-caller over San Diego State s most successful period in program history, the Carlsbad native is in extremely rare company. Below are a few of his accomplishments. n Chapman is 24-7 as a starter. The 77.4 winning percentage is the highest in San Diego State s Division I era (min. 15 starts.). n With 24 career victories, Chapman surpassed Ryan Lindley (23), current SDSU defensive GA coach, for the Chapman most wins as a starter at quarterback in the Division I era for the Aztecs. n Chapman has the longest active streak in FBS in games with fewer than two interceptions as a starting quarterback at 31. n MOST RUSHING YDS AFTER CONTACT, RB 2018 His streak of 31 straight quarterback starts without more than one interception is the second-longest streak since 2012, only trailing Navy s Keenan Reynolds (45 games). n Chapman has 4,528 career passing yards. That ranks 14th on the school s career list. n San Diego State is 11-0 when he has a passer rating of or higher. n Chapman has nine career games with multiple touchdown passes and has never thrown more than one interception in a game (38 career games). TRENDING NOW n San Diego State has won 16 of its last 20 games (16-4), is 22-6 in its last 28 games and 35-7 of its last 42 contests. n The Aztecs are 25-4 in their last 29 games against Mountain West opponents. n SDSU has won 15 of its last 16 games against MW West Division opponents (dates back to Nov. 1, 2014), only falling to Fresno State on Oct. 21, n San Diego State has won seven of its last eight road games (7-1). n The Aztecs have won 15 of their last 18 true road games (started Oct. 10, 2015 at Hawai i) and 17 of their last 21 games away from San Diego (also defeated Houston in 2016 Las Vegas Bowl and Cincinnati in 2015 Hawai i Bowl). n SDSU has won 38 consecutive regular-season games (does not include bowl games) when rushing for at least 200 yards (last regular-season loss: San José State, Sept. 22, 2015). n San Diego State has won a nationally-leading 25 straight games when having a turnover advantage (last loss: vs. Navy, Dec. 23, 2014) and is 28-2 the last 30 times it has been even or had a turnover advantage in a game. n The Aztecs have won 25 consecutive games when forcing at least two turnovers in a game. n San Diego State is 7-1 the last eight times it has been an underdog. n SDSU is this decade when holding its opponent to a passing rating of or less. n San Diego State is 30-2 the last 32 times when owing an edge in time of possession (last loss: vs. Fresno State, Oct. 21, 2017). n The Aztecs are 32-4 since the start of the 2015 campaign when holding an opponent below 400 yards. n SDSU is 28-4 the last 32 times it has committed one turnover or less. n Christian Chapman is a SDSU DI-era record 24-7 (.774) as the starting quarterback. That is the highest win percentage in the school s Division I era (since 1969) (min. 15 starts). On Sept. 8, he passed Ryan Lindley ( ) for the most victories by an Aztec quarterback in the Division I era. n San Diego State has the nation s best turnover ratio (+41) since the beginning of the 2015 season. The Aztecs have one turnover or less in 13 of the last 17 games. THE PROGRAM Below are a few tidbits on the San Diego State football program. The Aztecs are coming off three straight seasons with at least 10 wins. n San Diego State is one of 17 teams nationally to play in a bowl game each of the last eight seasons ( ) and one of just two from the Group of 5 (also Boise State). n With 10 victories last season, San Diego State has recorded its third straight campaign with double-digit wins. That is tied for the third-fewest picks in the nation (Alabama, 4). n Christian Chapman is 24-7 as a starting quarterback, winning both the 2015 and 2016 MW Championship game and the 2015 Hawai'i Bowl and 2016 Las Vegas Bowl. n In five career postseason appearances (MW championships and bowl games), Chapman is 4-1 and has completed 39 of 62 attempts (62.9 pct.) for 554 yards and three touchdowns against two interceptions for a pass efficiency rating. n Chapman has the longest streak of games with one or less interceptions (31) among active FBS quarterbacks. n Chapman s streak is also the longest in FBS play since Navy s Keenan Reynolds went 45 games without more than one interception in a game from n Chapman s all-time SDSU Division I era (since 1969) ranks (min. 15 starts): first in quarterback victories (24) and in quarterback winning percentage (.774), and sixth in pass efficiency rating (143.7). n Chapman has nine career games with multiple touchdown passes and has never thrown more than one interception in a game. n Chapman has four second-half come-from-behind wins, tied with David Lowery and Mark Halda for the fourth most in SDSU s Division I era (since 1969). n Chapman s 31 consecutive starts at quarterback were the program's most since Ryan Lindley started a school-record 44 straight from Oct. 18, 2008-Dec. 17, n For his career, Chapman has 35 touchdown passes against 11 interceptions. n Chapman s 167 attempts without an interception last year were only 11 shy of Dan McGwire s school record of 178 set in n Ryan Agnew ranks fourth in the Mountain West in passing yards per completion (13.42, 36th in FBS), seventh in yards per pass attempt (7.40, 69th in FBS), eighth in completion percentage (.551) and pass efficiency rating (122.27), and 10th in pass yards per game (144.25) and total offense per game (163.00). n Against No. 23/25 Arizona State, Agnew became the first quarterback from a non-power 5 school to beat a nationally ranked team from a Power 5 school in his starting debut since USF s B.J. Daniels against No. 18 Florida State on Sept. 26, n Agnew became the third straight Aztec starting quarterback to win his Aztec debut (also Maxwell Smith vs. San Diego on Aug. 30, 2015 and Chapman vs. Air Force on Dec. 5, 2015) (SDSU quarterbacks were just 1-13 in the previous 14 starting debuts). n Agnew also became the first Aztec quarterback to beat a nationally ranked team in his starting debut (other quarterbacks were 0-4 when their debut was against a ranked squad). n For his young career, Agnew is 3-0 and has one second-half come-from-behind victory. n Fred Trevillion ranks fifth among active FBS players in career catch average (22.8, min. 21 receptions). n Trevillion led the country with a 27.2-yard catch average (min. 10 rec.) last season. n Ethan Dedeaux set career highs with six receptions and 90 yards in just his second career start and game played against Sacramento State. His 90 yards were the most by an Aztec freshman since at least 1996 and the fifth most since Jeff Horton took over as offensive coordinator in Parker Houston leads the team with a catch in five straight games. BULLET NOTES - DEFENSE n For just the second season since arriving at San Diego State prior to the 2009 campaign, Rocky Long will not serve as the team s defensive coordinator (although he will continue to call the defense). n Zach Arnett is in his first year as defensive coordinator and enters his eighth season as the linebackers coach. n San Diego State returns seven starters off last season s squad which was one of the top units nationally. THREE PLAYERS NAMED PRESEASON ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST Three San Diego State football players were named to the 2018 Mountain West Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced July 24 at the Mountain West Football Media Summit in Las Vegas. The three players - offensive linemen Keith Ismael and Tyler Roemer, and warrior (safety) Tariq Thompson - are all sophomores this season after earning second-team all-league accolades in 2017 as freshmen. The all-conference team and preseason poll are voted on by media representatives who cover the conference. Ismael and Roemer, who were the only freshmen offensive linemen on either the all-mw first or second team (the other eight players on the first or second team were seniors), blocked for a running back group than averaged yards per game on the ground in 2017 and scored 33 touchdowns in 13 games (2.54 TD per game). Roemer was named a USA Today Freshman All-American last season and San Diego State's Offensive Lineman of the Year, while Ismael shared the Aztecs' Outstanding Freshman Award with Tariq Thompson. Thompson, meanwhile, totaled 63 tackles (46 solo) with three tackles for loss in 2017 as a true freshman, while recording a team-high five interceptions for 83 yards and a touchdown, four pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three quarterback hurries. For his efforts, Thompson was named a FWAA Freshman All-American and a USA Today Freshman All-American. SDSU's three preseason all-conference selections were tied for the second most in the league. Boise State's Brett Rypien was chosen as the preseason offensive player of the year, while teammate Avery Williams was named the preseason special teams player of the year. Wyoming's Andrew Wingard was chosen as the preseason defensive player of the year for the second straight season. This marks the first time since 2014 that an Aztec was not one of the preseason players of the year. Additionally, San Diego State was picked to finish second in the West Division with 116 points and six first-place votes, just 10 points behind Fresno State's 126 (and 16 first-place votes). The Aztecs had been selected to win the West Division the previous three seasons ( ). SDSU, which averaged a predicted finish of 6.5 from , has ended up at or better than its predicted finish in eight of the last nine seasons and 11 times over the past 13 years. San Diego State has won two of the last three Mountain West titles (2015 and 2016) and three of the past six (also 2012). Following Fresno State (126) and San Diego State (116) in the West Division was UNLV (78), Nevada (72), Hawai'i (45) and San José State (25). The Aztecs finished 2017 with a 10-3 record, their school-record third consecutive season with at least 10 victories. SDSU is one of just seven active schools in the nation to win at least 10 games in three straight seasons (also Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin). San Diego State returns seven starters on offense and seven on defense, along with its kicker and punter. Boise State has been picked to win the Mountain Division for the sixth consecutive season after making the MW championship game last year for the first time since The Broncos defeated Fresno State, 17-14, in the 2017 MW Championship game at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho. BS picked up all 22 first-place votes in the Mountain Division and 132 total, followed by Wyoming (95), Colorado State (82), Utah State (78), Air Force (52) and New Mexico (23). SDSU did not start with the ball for just the 13th time in the last 85 games. San Diego State lost the coin toss for just the 25th time over the last 54 games. The Aztecs have now gone 145 games without suffering a shutout (Nov. 18, 2006 at TCU), which is the second-longest streak among current Mountain West schools (Boise State at 265). SDSU held its opponent scoreless on its opening drive for the 31st time over the last 39 games and for the 32nd time since 2015 (42 games). Other Notes Tonight s attendance was 40,913. SDSU s captains tonight were QB Christian Chapman, DT Noble Hall, LB Ronley Lakalaka and K John Baron II. Aztecs Fall in Opener at No. 13/13 Stanford STANFORD, Calif. -- San Diego State kept Heisman Trophy candidate Bryce Love in check, but unable to stop the K.J. Costello-JJ Arcega-Whiteside connection in a loss in the 2018 opener at Stanford Stadium. Costello threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns, and Arcega-Whiteside caught six passes for 226 yards and three scores to give the Cardinal (1-0) its 20th consecutive non-conference home win. The Aztecs (0-1), who last year defeated Stanford, 20-17, in San Diego, held Love to just 29 yards on 18 carries (1.6 avg.). Love, who entered the game with at least 100 rushing yards in 14 of the last 15 games, posted the lowest average of his career with a minimum of five carries. Committed to stop the run, SDSU held the Cardinal to just 50 yards total on the ground on 28 attempts (1.8 avg.), its fewest in a home game since Sept. 29, Costello, however, connected on touchdown passes of 38, 19 and 80 yards to Arcega-Whiteside, and later on a 19- yard strike to Colby Parkinson. After a slow start, San Diego State used a methodical 8-play, 92-yard drive to get on the scoreboard late in the first quarter on a 4-yard run by Juwan Washington. Washington had 84 yards alone on the drive, including a 40-yarder which got the Aztecs into Stanford territory for the first time of the game. After exchanging punts for the next few series, SDSU was forced to start at its own 1-yard line when Jack Bailey s 63- yard punt went out-of-bounds. Three plays later, quarterback Christian Chapman was sacked in the end zone for the safety. Late in the second quarter, it appeared San Diego State would have a chance to add to its 7-2 lead when Andrew Aleki deflected a Costello pass into the hands of Noble Hall. Hall started running the other way, but Cardinal wide receiver Trenton Irwin raced back, forced a fumble and jumped on the loose ball, giving Stanford some life. The Cardinal took advantage in just three plays when Costello found Arcega-Whiteside in the end zone from 38 yards out, taking a 9-7 lead into halftime. Costello stretched its lead to 16-7 on its first drive of the third quarter as Costello found a wide-open Arcega-Whiteside in the end zone with a 19-yard pass. The Aztecs mounted a 10-play, 62-yard drive of their own, mainly through the air, culminating with a 30-yard field goal by John Baron II. Chapman was 5-for-7 on the scoring drive for 61 yards. On Stanford s ensuing drive and facing a punt on 3rd and 15, Costello rolled out to his left and fired a deep pass to Arcega-Whiteside, who caught it over a fallen Kyree Woods and raced 80 yards for the touchdown. Following a successful 2-point conversion, the Cardinal ran its lead to SDSU got back into Stanford territory, but was stopped on a 4th and 1 on the 32-yard line as the fourth quarter began. The Cardinal put the game away on its next drive with Costello s fourth touchdown pass of the game found Parkinson from 19 yards out. Costello finished the game 21 of 31 for 332 yard and four touchdowns. Washington led San Diego State s rushing attack with 158 yards on 24 carries (6.6 avg.), the sixth-highest total by an Aztec back in a season opener and the eighth most against a nationally ranked opponent. Parker Baldwin and Kyahva Tezino each had 11 tackles apiece to pace the SDSU defense. >>SCORING SUMMARY Qtr Time Team Scoring Play Plays TOP Score 1st 2:38 SDSU Washington 4-yd run (Baron kick) : nd 7:27 STAN Okereke safety nd 0:27 STAN Whiteside 38-yd pass f/costello (Toner kick) : rd 11:02 STAN Whiteside 19-yd pass f/costello (Toner kick) : rd 6:49 SDSU Baron 30-yd field goal : rd 4:43 STAN Whiteside 80-yd pass f/costello (Whiteside pass f/costello) : h 4:02 STAN Parkinson 19-yd pass f/costello (Toner kick) : INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS >>SAN DIEGO STATE Rushing Att Yds TD Long Avg Washington Jasmin Dedeaux Chapman Totals Passing C-A-I Yds TD Long Sack Chapman Totals Receiving No. Yds TD Long Dedeaux Wilson Trevillion Washington Houston Totals >>STANFORD Rushing Att Yds TD Long Avg Love Scarlett Speights Costello Totals Passing C-A-I Yds TD Long Sack Costello Totals Receiving No. Yds TD Long Whiteside Irwin Parkinson Love Smith Wedington St. Brown Totals

Aztecs Rally Past Sacramento State, SAN DIEGO -- Juwan Washington rushed for 156 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, as San Diego State rallied for a triumph over Sacramento State before a crowd of 45,755 at SDCCU Stadium. Washington, who also finished with a personal-best 36 carries, posted two of his scores in the final four minutes and change to help the Aztecs (1-1) capture their fifth straight home opener and win for the ninth time in their last 10 September games. SDSU was forced to overcome the loss of starting quarterback Christian Chapman, who completed 6-of-11 passes for 112 yards before leaving with 4:47 left in the second quarter due to a knee injury. Backup Ryan Agnew took over for the rest of the game, recording 159 yards on 11-for-17 passing all career highs. Trailing at the 9:18 mark of the fourth quarter, Agnew directed the Aztecs on a 13-play, 82-yard scoring drive, punctuated by Washington's four-yard scamper into the end zone. Moments later, Agnew hit tight end Parker Houston for a two-point conversion that put the host school up for good with 4:05 to go. The Aztec defense displayed its mettle on the ensuing possession, sacking Sacramento State quarterback Kevin Thomson on two occasions, including one by Kyahva Tezino on a 4th-and-3 situation that gave the ball back to SDSU on the Hornet 25 with 2:57 to go. On the second play after the possession change, Washington hit pay dirt with a 20-yard burst up the middle that put the game out of reach. Earlier in the first quarter, San Diego State opened the scoring on its second drive of the contest, marching 69 yards in nine plays, with Washington darting in from five yards out to provide the Aztecs a 7-0 edge at the 4:39 mark. SDSU overcame an 11-yard sack and an ineligible receiver penalty, as Washington uncorked a 30-yard run on a 2nd-and-26 situation to give the Aztecs a first down at the Sacramento State 18. SDSU extended its advantage to 10-0 early in the second quarter, capitalizing on a short Hornet punt after John Baron drilled a career-long 52-yard field goal, which is tied for the eight-longest in program history. Sacramento State responded with their longest foray of the game, consuming 7:26 of the clock before BJ Perkinson capped the 14-play, 75-yard drive with a 1-yard plunge, which narrowed the gap to 10-7 at the 6:07 mark. The Aztecs salvaged another field goal on their next drive, as Chapman exited after two plays. On his first snap of the night, Agnew completed a 13-yard pass to Dedeaux and later flashed his mobility with 14-yard scramble down the left sideline on a 3rd-and-6 play. The march stalled at this juncture, but Baron split the uprights from 32 yards out to give the host a 13-7 cushion heading into the locker room. The Hornets wasted no time cashing in on an Angew interception in the third quarter as Thomson found a wide-open Perkinson, who streaked past the Aztec defense for a 64-yard touchdown reception on the first play after the interception, giving the visitors their first lead of the night at with just under nine minutes remaining in the period. SDSU, however, responded with the two Washington touchdowns to secure the win. For the second straight game, SDSU had its run defense clicking, as the Hornets were held to just 53 yards on the ground. SDSU had a 100-yard rusher in its eighth straight game (nine, 100-yard rushers total), and has one in 25 of its last 30 games since 2016 (32, 100-yard rushers total) and 34 of the 44 games since Jeff Horton took over as the offensive coordinator in 2015 (44, 100-yard rushers total). San Diego State won its 38th straight regular-season game when rushing for 200- plus yards. Aztecs Hold Off No. 23/25 Arizona St., SAN DIEGO -- After turning in a suffocating defensive performance for much of the second half, San Diego State weathered some anxious moments in the waning moments of a upset over No. 23/25 Arizona State on Sept. 15 at SDCCU Stadium. With the win, the Aztecs (2-1) defeated the Sun Devils for the second year in a row, improving to 4-1 against Pac-12 Conference teams since the start of the 2016 season after Parker Baldwin batted down a Hail Mary pass at the goal line. SDSU shredded the nation's leading defense against the run, rushing for a 311 yards on 58 attempts after ASU (2-1) entered the contest yielding just an average of 32.5 yards in its previous two games. For the second straight outing, the Aztecs also controlled the ball over 12 minutes longer than the opposition (36:05-23:55) to help key their win. Individually, Juwan Washington recorded a game-high 138 rushing yards on 27 carries with one touchdown, while Chase Jasmin added a career-best 112 yards on 19 attempts to go with one TD of his own, giving SDSU multiple 100- yard ground gainers for the 29th time in program history, as the Scarlet and Black improved to 28-1 all-time in that statistic. However, it was the Aztec defense that played a pivotal role, seizing the momentum after a critical fourth down stop at the SDSU 11 with 1:41 remaining in the second quarter. Trailing 14-7 after ASU scored on 1-yard sneak by quarterback Manny Wilkins, San Diego State managed just one first down before pinning the Sun Devils deep in their own territory on a 51-yard punt by Brandon Heicklen. Setting up shop on its own five-yard line, ASU drove deep into Aztec territory, aided by 43-yard completion from Wilkins to wide receiver Frank Darby before the SDSU defense came to life. Wilkins, who threw for 227 yards on 17-of- 22 passing up to that point, added another eight yards with a quick screen to Kyle Williams and third down. The Sun Devils passed up a short field-goal attempt, and Aztec defensive tackle Myles Cheatum made them pay with a four-yard sack of Wilkins on 4th-and-1. Buoyed by its good fortune, SDSU methodically marched 85 yards in 11 plays, capped by Ryan Agnew's first career touchdown pass, a nine-yard strike to Tim Wilson Jr. in the right corner of the end zone with just eight ticks left before intermission, which knotted the score at In the interim, SDSU took the lead for good at when John Baron drilled a career-long 54 yard field-goal at the 7:46 mark of the period, which is tied for the second-longest in program history. Baron also connected from 36 yards out on SDSU's first foray of the fourth quarter, extending its advantage to with 11:34 to go in the game. After holding the Sun Devils to a three-and-out, the Aztecs looked to put the game out of reach as Jasmin took center stage, rushing 11 times for 76 yards on the team's 13-play drive, punctuated by a 3-yard touchdown. After Agnew hit Kahale Warring in the left corner of the end zone for the 2-point conversion, SDSU was seemingly in control with just 4:14 left in contest. ASU finally woke up from its offensive slumber with a quick 82-yard incursion downfield, as Wilkins hooked up with N'Keal Harry for a 7-yard touchdown pass, cutting the deficit to with 1:39 to go. After an unsuccessful onside kick, the Aztecs tried to run out the clock and Jasmin appeared to give the host school a clinching first down with a 20-yard run up the middle; however, the Sun Devils' Jay Jay Wilson stripped the ball just before Jasmin hit the ground and Aashari Crosswell recovered at the 23, giving the ASU one final hope with 43 seconds remaining. ASU got to midfield and Wilkins appeared to hit Darby with a long throw down to the SDSU 2-yard line with six seconds to go, but a replay review on a Aztec targeting penalty revealed the ball fell incomplete. Then on the final play from the SDSU 35, Baldwin knocked down a Wilkins pass at the goal line, as the Aztec bench erupted in jubilation. Kyahva Tezino led San Diego State with nine tackles, including two for loss and one sack. Offensively, Agnew completed 12 of 24 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown, becoming the first quarterback from a non-power 5 school to beat a nationally ranked team from a Power 5 conference in his starting quarterback debut since Warring finished with four catches for 30 yards, while Washington and Ethan Dedeaux added two receptions each. >>SCORING SUMMARY Qtr Time Team Scoring Play Plays TOP Score 1st 0:41 ASU Aiyuk 12-yd pass f/wilkins (Ruiz kick) : nd 10:28 SDSU Washington 13-yd run (Baron kick) : nd 8:06 ASU Wilkins 1-yd run (Ruiz kick) : nd 0:08 SDSU Wilson 9-yd pass f/agnew (Baron kick) : rd 7:46 SDSU Baron 54-yd field goal : th 11:44 SDSU Baron 36-yd field goal : th 4:14 SDSU Jasmin 3-yd run (Warring pass f/agnew) : th 1:40 ASU Harry 7-yd pss f/wilkins (Ruiz kick) : INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS >>ARIZONA STATE Rushing Att Yds TD Long Avg Benjamin Wilkins Floyd Team Totals Passing C-A-I Yds TD Long Sack Wilkins Totals Receiving No. Yds TD Long Harry Benjamin Darby Williams Aiyuk Jenkins Hudson Totals >>SAN DIEGO STATE Rushing Att Yds TD Long Avg Washington Jasmin Agnew Byrd Busbee Dedeaux Totals Passing C-A-I Yds TD Long Sack Agnew Totals Receiving No. Yds TD Long Warring Dedeaux Washington Busbee Houston Lessard Wilson Totals

San Diego State won its 31st straight game when leading by at least 14 points at some point in the game. Rocky Long recorded his school-record 19th second-half comeback victory as coach at SDSU (No. 2 is Claude Gilbert at 13). San Diego State won its fifth consecutive home game and is 27-5 in its last 32 games at SDCCU Stadium. San Diego State has won 11 consecutive games played during the month of September (last loss: at Penn State, 9/26/15). This is the third-longest active streak nationally, trailing only Clemson (17) and Alabama (14). The Aztecs improved to against current members of the MAC. San Diego State is in the Division I era against teams that called the MAC home at the time of the game. San Diego State joined Army as the only non-mac team from a non-power 5 school to defeat Eastern Michigan in the regular season in the last four seasons. Since the start of 2015, the Eagles have lost non-conference regular-season games to LSU, Missouri and Kentucky to join Army and SDSU. Team Notes SDSU is 14-3 in its last 17 non-conference games (counts conference championship and bowl games) dating back to Dec. 5, During that time, the Aztecs have wins over Stanford, ASU (twice), Cal, Cincinnati and Houston, including two games against ranked schools (No. 19/19 Stanford in 2017 and No. 23/25 ASU in 2018). SDSU has won 15 of its last 19 games (15-4), 21 of its last 27 games (21-6) and 34 of its last 41 games (34-7). Aztecs Edge Eastern Michigan in OT, SAN DIEGO -- John Baron kicked three field goals, including a 38-yarder in overtime, to lift San Diego State to a victory over visiting Eastern Michigan on Sept. 22 at SDCCU Stadium. With just 1:16 remaining in the fourth quarter, Baron tied the game at on a 50-yarder before nailing the game-winner in the extra session, helping the Aztecs complete an unbeaten three-game homestand and improve to 3-1 on the year. The Eagles (2-2) won the overtime coin toss, but came up empty on the their only offensive possession, as defensive back Darren Hall intercepted a pass from quarterback Mike Glass at the SDSU 2. The Aztecs subsequently gained four yards on their next three plays to set up Baron s decisive kick. San Diego State threatened the turn the game into a blowout after taking a 17-3 lead in the second quarter on a 24- yard touchdown pass from Ryan Agnew to BJ Busbee with 9:03 remaining in the period. Juwan Washington put the Aztecs in striking range with a 36-yard scamper down the left sideline on a 3rd-and-2 situation before Agnew connected with a wide-open Busbee three plays later. However, EMU capitalized on an errant Agnew pass late in the quarter on an interception by Kevin McGill, who returned the ball 26 yards to the SDSU 34 with just 1:40 left before halftime. Glass entered the game in relief of starter Tyler Wiegers and quickly provided a spark for the Eagles, hitting Line Latu for 27 yards before plowing into the end zone on a sneak from two yards out on the next play, narrowing the gap to by intermission. With momentum on its side, EMU took the second half kickoff and marched 75 yards in 12 plays for the tying score. After lulling the Aztecs to sleep with nine consecutive runs, Arthur Jackson got behind the SDSU secondary and hauled in a 37-yard touchdown pass from Glass, knotting the game at Setting up shop at its own 14, EMU grinded out 14 yards on four straight rushes before Glass found Latu for another electrifying gain, this time for 54 yards down to the Aztec 18. Two additional runs moved the ball to the 8, but the SDSU defense stiffened, forcing an incomplete pass after a two-yard run, a false-start penalty and a short four-yard completion. EMU salvaged three points on the drive when Chad Ryland hit a 24-yard field goal with 3:18 remaining in regulation. After a short kickoff, the Aztecs took over at their own 42 and quickly advanced into Eagle territory, benefiting on a 15-yard pass interference penalty following an 11-yard pass completion to Ethan Dedeaux. On 2nd-and-10 from the EMU 32, Agnew scrambled to the right and appeared to hit tight end Kahale Warring for a first down near the 10-yard line, but officials ruled the junior signal-caller stepped out of bounds before the throw, and SDSU could not convert on the subsequent play. With just 1:16 left on the clock, Baron was summoned for the game-tying field goal attempt from 50 yards and the Aztec senior calmly delivered his third straight success from that distance or more this season. SDSU got the ball back once again after forcing an Eagle punt, but time ran out after Maxx Crosby sacked Agnew for an 11-yard loss back to the Aztec 29, which sent the game into overtime. In his second career start, Agnew completed 12-of-22 passes for a career-high 176 yards and a personal-best two touchdowns, including a 25-yard strike to Parker Houston early in the second quarter, which gave San Diego State a 10-3 lead. In addition, Jasmin ran for a game-high 94 yards on 16 carries, while Washington had his streak of 100-yard rushing games snapped at three, finishing with 61 yards on 12 attempts before exiting with an injury. Defensively, the Aztecs were paced by Anthony Luke, whose career-high 10 tackles led all players and marked the highest total by an SDSU defensive lineman since Sergio Phillips had 10 stops vs. Wyoming in the 2016 Mountain West Championship Game. >>SCORING SUMMARY Qtr Time Team Scoring Play Plays TOP Score 1st 6:14 SDSU Baron 34-yd field goal : st 3:12 EMU Ryland 51-yd field goal : nd 14:21 SDSU Houston 25-yd pass f/agnew (Baron kick) : nd 9:03 SDSU Busbee 24-yd pass f/agnew (Baron kick) : nd 0:26 EMU Glass 2-yd run (Ryland kick) : rd 8:15 EMU Jackson 37-yd pass f/glass (Ryland kick) : th 3:18 SDSU Ryland 24-yd field goal : th 1:16 SDSU Baron 50-yd field goal : OT -- SDSU Baron 38-yd field goal 4-4 n/a INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS >>EASTERN MICHIGAN Rushing Att Yds TD Long Avg Vann Glass Eriksen Banham Wiegers Totals Passing C-A-I Yds TD Long Sack Glass Wiegers Totals Receiving No. Yds TD Long Sexton Latu Jackson Drummond Oakes Holder Totals >>SAN DIEGO STATE Rushing Att Yds TD Long Avg Jasmin Washington Agnew Williams Totals Passing C-A-I Yds TD Long Sack Agnew Totals Receiving No. Yds TD Long Trevillion Busbee Houston K. The only coaches to do it once are Bob Davie (New Mexico), Gary Patterson (TCU), Troy Calhoun (Air Force) and Bronco Mendenhall (Virginia). Since 2000, Boise State is at home. The Aztecs are 2-1 during that stretch while the rest of the country is San Diego State handed Boise State just its second loss in its last 15 home games (Virginia). San Diego State snapped Boise State s eight-game home conference win streak. San Diego State held Boise State to 229 total yards. That is its lowest output since gaining 206 yards against 13th-ranked Michigan State on Aug. 31, It is its lowest offensive output in a home game since Oct. 24, 1998 vs. Utah State (203 yards). The 13 points are the fewest scored by the Broncos in a home game since Sept. 20, 2012, when Boise State scored seven points in a 7-6 win against Brigham Young. The last time they were held to 13 or fewer points, regardless of location, was on Dec. 27, 2016 against Baylor (31-12). Boise State s passing efficiency rating of was its fifth lowest since 1996, lowest since Sept. 3, 2005 (at No. 13 Georgia) and lowest in a home game since Oct. 25, 1997 (Louisiana Tech). SDSU held Boise State to just 72 yards in the first half, the Broncos fewest in any half since recording 52 in the second half at New Mexico on Oct. 7, 2016, fewest in a first half since recording 49 at San Diego State on Nov. 23, 2013 and fewest in the first half at home since at least The Aztecs improved to 15-3 over their last 18 road games since Oct. 10, SDSU entered the day with tied for the third most road wins (14) over that period. Defense Leads Aztecs Past Boise State, BOISE, Idaho -- San Diego State used a dominating defense and a late touchdown run by true freshman Jordan Byrd to down Boise State, 19-13, in Boise. Late in the first quarter, SDSU Warrior (safety) Tariq Thompson made a one-handed interception on a Rypien throw to give the ball back to San Diego State. The Aztecs got into BS territory, but BJ Busbee fumbled away the ball at the Boise State 14 after a catch from Ryan Agnew. After another 3 and out forced by SDSU, the Bronco punter Skillin dropped the snap, giving the visitors the ball on the 31-yard line. After failing to convert the 2-point conversion, the Aztecs held a 19-7 lead. The Broncos made it interesting after putting together an 11-play, 73-yard drive, culminating in Mattison s second 1- yard touchdown run of the game. After missing the PAT, BS found itself down, Boise State forced a SDSU punt, but after an 8-yard pass from Rypien to CT Thomas, Rypien took an intentional grounding penalty. Two incompletions later, San Diego State was in victory formation, holding onto the win. Jasmin rushed for a hard-fought 78 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries, while Byrd ran for 76 yards and the 72- yard TD on three rushes. Agnew was 8-for-15 for 113 yards, including three passes for 57 yards to Fred Trevillion. Hall had nine tackles (eight solo) to pace the relentless Aztec defense to go along with an interception, forced fumble, sack and tackle for loss. Tezino added seven stops and a sack. With the win, Rocky Long became the only active coach in the country with two wins at Boise State as SDSU improved to 2-1 vs. the Broncos in Boise (rest of the country is since 2000). >>SCORING SUMMARY Qtr Time Team Scoring Play Plays TOP Score 1st 9:14 SDSU Baron 36-yd field goal 4-5 1: st 6:48 BS Mattison 1-yd run (Velazquez kick) 3-4 1: nd 13:09 SDSU Baron 41-yd field goal 6-7 1: nd 4:36 SDSU Jasmin 2-yd run (Baron kick) : th 10:10 SDSU Byrd 72-yd run (Agnew pass failed) : th 3:05 BS Mattison 1-yd run (Velazquez kick failed) : INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS >>SAN DIEGO STATE Rushing Att Yds TD Long Avg Jasmin Byrd Zi.
