The game will be streamed live on Facebook. If USU advances to the quarterfinals, it will play second-seeded Boise State (25-6, 14-4) on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. (MT). If USU advances to the semifinals it will play at 9:30 p.m. (MT) on Friday, March 9, on CBS Sports Network, while the championship game will be on Saturday, March 10, at 4 p.m. (MT) on CBS. USU is all-time against the Rams, including a 1-0 record in the postseason. CSU won the only meeting between the two teams this season with an road win. L, at San José State W, UNLV Utah State posted a 1-1 Mountain West record last week with a road loss at San José State and a home win against UNLV. Against the Spartans, USU attempted a school- and Mountain West-record 43 3-pointers. Sophomore guard Sam Merrill led the Aggies with 26 points and was followed by redshirt freshman forward Daron Henson with 11 points. USU shot 36.5 percent (23-of-63) from the floor, 27.9 percent (12- of-43) from behind the 3-point line and 80.0 percent (4-of-5) at the free throw line, while SJSU shot 46.3 percent (25-of-54) from the floor, 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from behind the 3-point line and 60.0 percent (9-of-15) at the free throw line. Against the Runnin Rebels, sophomore guard Koby McEwen led three Aggies in double figures with 18 points, followed by Merrill with 15 and senior forward Alex Dargenton with 12. USU shot 50.0 percent (29-of-58) from the floor, 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from behind the 3-point line and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) at the free throw line. If USU advances to the quarterfinals it would play top-seeded Boise State (20-9, 14-4) on Tuesday, March 6, at 1 p.m. (MT). If USU advances to the semifinals it will play at 7:30 p.m. (MT) on Wednesday, March 7, while the championship game will be on Friday, March 9, at 1 p.m. (MT). Every game during the tournament will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network. USU is 9-3 all-time against the Falcons, including a 1-0 neutral record. The two teams split the season sereis with both teams winning at home (AFA, 57-50; USU, 57-55). W, SAN JOSÉ STATE L, at UNLV Utah State posted a 1-1 Mountain West record last week with an home win against San José State and a road loss at UNLV. Against the Spartans, USU had four players score in double figures as sophomore guard/forward Shannon Dufficy had 19 points, sophomore guard Olivia West and sophomore guard/forward Hailey Bassett each scored 18 points, and junior guard Rachel Brewster had 15 points. Dufficy also had 16 boards for her seventh double-double of the season. The Aggies put up a season-high 24 assists as sophomore guard Eliza West led the team with a career-best 10 assists. Overall, USU shot 46.7 percent (35-of-75) from the floor, 27.5 percent (3-of-11) from the 3-point line and 92.9 percent (13-of-14) from the free throw line. SJSU shot 45.6 percent (31-of-68) from the field, including 34.3 percent (12-of-35) from behind the arc, and 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from the free throw line. Against the Lady Rebels, Bassett and Olivia West led the Aggies with 11 points apiece, while junior center Deja Mason added 10 points. Junior guard Rachel Brewster had a season-high nine boards to go along with nine points, reaching 1,000 points in her career. On the night, USU shot 43.4 percent (23-of-53) from the floor, 30.8 percent (4-of-13) from the 3-point line and 88.9 percent (8-of-9) from the free throw line. UNLV shot 38.6 percent (22-of-57) from the field, including 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from behind the arc, and was a perfect 17-of-17 from the free throw line. WOMEN S TENNIS... Senior Maggie O Meara recorded the Aggies only win with a threesets victory at No. 4 singles (7-5, 3-6, 10-6). Other Aggies who competed in the match include senior Sabrina Demerath, junior Jenna Kane, sophomore Rhoda Tanui, redshirt freshman Alexandra Taylor and freshman Sasha Pisareva. SOFLL... USU will begin the tournament with a game against UC Davis (10-6) on Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. (MT). The Aggies will then play two games on Friday, March 9, taking on Valparaiso (6-3) at noon (MT) and Northern Colorado (8-7) at 2:15 p.m. (MT). The weekend will close on Saturday, March 10, with a rematch against Northern Colorado at 10 a.m. (MT) and UC Davis at noon (MT). at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tournament W, vs. Omaha W, vs. Texas Southern L, vs. Texas Southern W, at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi W, 15-0 (5) --- at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Utah State posted a 4-1 record at a tournament hosted by Texas A&M- Corpus Christi last weekend with a 5-3 win against Omaha, a 7-0 win and 9-8 loss against Texas Southern, and 8-5 and 15-0 (5) wins against the host-islanders. Three pitchers saw time in the circle on the weekend, with sophomore Kellie White and freshman Delaney Hull each posting a 2-0 record. Hull threw a no-hitter in the finale against TA&M-CC, USU s first since at least In all, the Utah State pitching staff posted a 3.25 ERA, allowing 27 hits and 17 runs, while striking out 31 batters and walking 15. Offensively, senior catcher/designated player Brina Buttacavoli led the Aggies with a.526 (10-of-19) batting average, including one home run. Junior first baseman Bailee Trapp brought in a team-high 12 RBIs, hitting three doubles and one home run. In all, the Aggies hit.378 (59-of-156) on the weekend, including nine doubles, three triples and one home run. Defensively, Trapp led the team with 34 putouts, while senior third baseman Amee Aarhus added 14 assists. MEN S GOLF... Contact: Doug Hoffman (435) Next Week Mon.-Wed., March at Oral Roberts Invite, Dallas, Texas, Utah State s men s golf team continues its 2018 spring season on Monday, March 12, at the Oral Roberts Invitational in Dallas, Texas. 2nd/9 --- at Southern Utah Invite, St. George, Utah Utah State shot a final round 4-over 292 and finished in second place with a 2-under 574 ( ) at the Southern Utah-hosted Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational held in St. George, Utah. Utah Valley won the team championship with an 11-under 565 ( ), while the Wolverines Aaron Yeates took medalist honors with an 8-under 136 (68-68). USU sophomore Chase Lansford finished the tournament in third place for his best-ever tournament finish with a 5-under 139 (64-75). Fellow USU sophomore Hayden Eckert also had his best-ever tournament finish as he tied for fifth place at 1-under 143 (71-72). Senior Braxton Miller also tied for fifth place after carding a 3-under 69 during his final round to finish at 1-under 143 (74-69). Redshirt freshman Andy Hess finished the tournament in 24th place at 6-over 150 (74-76) and freshman Colten Cordingley finished tied for 25th place at 7-over 151 (73-78) for his best-ever tournament finish. GYMNASTICS... Contact: Wade Denniston (435) Fri., March at BYU/vs. Penn State/vs. Texas Woman s, 7 p.m. Utah State gymnastics (6-7, 1-3 MRGC) continues its 2018 season this week in a quad meet at BYU on Friday, March 9, at 7 p.m. Joining the Aggies and Cougars will be Penn State and Texas Woman s. L, BYU Utah State registered its highest score of the season last weekend in a Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference home loss to 24th-ranked BYU. The Aggies is tied for the sixth-best home score in school history and the ninth-best overall. Sophomore Jazmyn Estrella placed second on bars with a career-high 9.875, helping lead the Aggies to a season-high on the event. Freshman Faith Leary won the vault with a season-high 9.900, which ranks tied for ninth all-time in school history. Fellow freshman Mikaela Meyer anchored USU on the event and recorded her own personal best, a 9.875, to place second. As a team, the Aggies registered a season-high on vault, which ranks tied for sixth all-time in program history. In the third rotation, the Aggies scored a on beam. Freshman Autumn DeHarde had a to place third, while junior Emily Briones and freshman Leighton Varnadore each had a to tie for fifth. The Aggies closed the dual meet on floor, finishing with a , highlighted by junior Madison Ward s to capture first. Leary had a to tie for second and three other Aggies Varnadore, Briones and sophomore Elle Golison tied for fourth with 9.800s. INDOOR TRACK & FIELD... Contact: Sean O Sullivan Fri.-Sat., March at NCAA Champs., College Station, Texas, Utah State track & field will send four seniors to the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, held Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, in College Station, Texas. Seniors Jordan Beutler, Clay Lambourne, Dillon Maggard and Brady Martin will compete in the distance medley relay as they are currently ranked second in the nation. Maggard, a twotime indoor All-American in the mile, will also compete individually in the 3,000-meter, as he is currently ranked 15th in the nation in the event. M: 3/6; W: 8/ at MW Championships, Albuquerque, N.M. Utah State s track & field teams collected six event titles and broke two school records at the 2018 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships, held last weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. Overall, the Aggie men finished third and the Aggie women placed eighth. The men s distance medley relay team of seniors Jordan Beutler, Brady Martin, Clay Lambourne and Dillon Maggard broke the school record with a time of 9:34.61, which ranks as the second-fastest time in NCAA history. Junior thrower Brenn Flint set the women s shot put record for the fifth time this season, placing first in the event with a throw of meters ( ). Lambourne won his fourth-straight MW Championship 800m race with a record time of 1: Junior Leaugen Fray defended his long jump title with a leap of 7.38 ( ), before winning the high jump by clearing the fourth-best height in school history, 2.18m (7-1.75). Sophomore Brody Smith won the 3,000m race with a time of 8:15.24, good for fifth-best in school history. Junior Sam Nelson won USU s first men s pole vault conference title since 2005 by clearing a height of 5.15m ( ). Senior Dillon Maggard placed second in the men s 5,000m race with a time of 14: Junior Kashley Carter placed fourth in the women s 5,000m race with a personal-best time of 16:32.28, which ranks second all-time in school history. Senior David Hirschmann finished second in the men s shot put with a personal-best throw of meters ( ), which ranks 10th all-time in school history. Freshman Hunter Simonson took third in the men s high jump by clearing a height of 2.12m ( ) in his first attempt at the event this season, tying for the fifth-best jump in school history. Sophomore Kyle Brost picked up USU s first men s triple jump medal since joining the MW, as he leaped 14.85m ( ) to place third in the event.
