CONFIRMATION OF INTEREST IN HOSTING U-18 NATIONAL CUP TOURNAMENT The U-18 National Cup Tournaments will be provisionally scheduled for the 5/6 th November The structure is not yet confirmed, however as a provisional measure please indicate if you would be interested in hosting should it be required for the U-18 National Cup. NATIONAL CUP SCHEDULE, DEADLINES & CUP DRAWS The National Cup Draw will take place in the National Basketball Arena; the date is to be confirmed. Senior Cup Competitions will be drawn until the final stage of the competition. The National Cup Competition is provisionally agreed to run on the following schedule which will be confirmed at the Annual Basketball Ireland Calendar meeting but are subject to change; 1. REGISTRATION OF TEAMS, ENTRY FEES & DEADLINES All clubs competing in the National Cup Competition must be registered members of Basketball Ireland and all players must be registered under the individual player registration scheme. 5 11. NATIONAL CUP INFORMATION SHEET The closing date for entry is Monday 15 th August 2016 by 17:00. Cup Format The format of the U18 Cup will be confirmed on receipt of entries (tournaments or home/away). The format of the U20 Cup is on a Home/Away basis. The format of the Senior Cup is on a Home/Away basis and automatically includes Women s Division 1 National League Teams. Cup Draw The National Cup draw takes place in August/Sep 2016 at the National Basketball Arena. The date is to be confirmed, all teams will be invited to send a representative to this event. U18 and U20 Cup 16/17 Basketball Ireland Season is from the 1 st September to 31 st of August the following year. As outlined by FIBA, players must be under the age on the 1 st of January of any given year. Under National Competition regulations players will be allowed to participate in any competition in accordance with the year the player was born as follows; TEAM 2016/ /2018 U , 1998, 1999, , 1998, 2000, 2001 U , 2000, , 2001, 2002 Any player may be required to submit their birth cert/passport to the Basketball Ireland office to confirm compliance with above age requirements. Burden of proof lies with the players and the club with regard to the players they play. All players must be registered with the club/team under the Basketball Ireland club/team registration scheme. Withdrawal of Teams from the National Cup - A bond will be paid by all clubs on entry of the National Cup. The bond will reflect the number of teams entered and will be a bond per club. If any one team does not fulfil their fixtures the bond will not be returned. The bond will be returned to the team by the end of the season on successful completion of all designated fixtures the team qualifies for in the National Cup Competition. In the event of any team withdrawing, the bond will not be returned; the team will be fined, in accordance National Competition Regulations and subsequent entries by the club will be accepted at the discretion of Basketball Ireland and or the relevant committee. Structured Link and Cup-Tied Players - A structured link player, as defined in the National Competitions Regulations, must choose which team they play for within the Cup competition at the start of the season, as they may not play on both teams in the National Cup Competition. All Players are CUP-TIED and may only play for one team in the Senior National Cup (SuperLeague/Senior are classed as Senior Cup Competitions). Setting the Fixture - Basketball Ireland will set the fixture for Round 1 in accordance with the Home Team s normal game time on the designated weekend. For subsequent rounds BI will attempt to do the same understanding that there may be some changes necessary. The governing committee is empowered to change the fixture for example, due to availability of referees etc. Where possible, Basketball Ireland will aim to avoid making such changes. Depending on the draw, and the geographical location of your opposition, you may be required to play a mid-week game. 5

6 Setting the Fixture continued- In the case of a clash of commitments for teams who have entered U18/U20 and Senior/PremierLeague Cups, the Senior/PremierLeague Cup may be set as a play by date. Where a club has entered a number of Cup Competitions, the following will be put in place to allow for teams to fit in the fixtures. U18/Senior/SuperLeague Fixture played Wednesday through to Saturday of the designated weekend U20 Fixture played Sunday through to following Tuesday of the designated weekend. Please note that teams may be asked to change a fixture to facilitate referee appointments etc. Officials - It is the responsibility of the home team to pay the referee, table officials and commissioner fees on the day of the game. In all appointments, an effort is made to keep the travel expenses incurred by referees to a minimum. For the Underage National Cup Tournaments, clubs may be asked to contribute towards referee fees. The home team must organise the table officials. If a commissioner is appointed by Basketball Ireland, the commissioner fee is 20 payable by the home team on the day, with travel expenses paid by Basketball Ireland. Responsibilities of the Home Team Prior to the match - The Home Team are responsible for the pre-game procedures as outlined in the National Competition Regulations. The venue, and court for warm up, is to be available 30 minutes before tip off. Where possible, separate changing and showering facilities are to be made available to referees. If your venue does not have separate facilities available, please ensure the home team changing room is available to, and given to the referees as a priority. The home team takes the gate admission fees. The Home Team are responsible for ensuring that all PR requirements are met after games. These will be notified to teams in advance of Home games. For All Games - White Copy of the score sheet and game program is to arrive in the Basketball Ireland office within 5 days of the game. (The Home team will be fined if this is not adhered to as per National Competition regulations). Senior Cup Team Composition - All teams must comply with the licensing requirements of the National League Division One as outlined in the National Competitions Regulations. National Competition Regulations apply to the National Cup Competitions. 6
