UGA leads all-time series (2-0, 1-0 SEC) georgiadogs.com (1-1, 0-1 SEC) Red Out: Georgia is encouraging all fans to wear red to Saturday s game for a red out between the hedges. Series History: The Bulldogs hold a edge in the series with the Gamecocks. Georgia handed the Gamecocks a defeat the last time the teams played in Athens in Bulldogs Clash With Gamecocks Georgia (2-0, 1-0 SEC) looks to continue its winning ways this season as it plays host to South Carolina (1-1, 0-1 SEC). Last Saturday, Georgia posted a road win over Vanderbilt. Georgia s defense held the Commodores to a pair of field goals in the first half and surrendered the lone touchdown with 4:33 left in the contest plus forced a turnover on first-and-goal from the eight. Meanwhile, South Carolina dropped a decision to Kentucky in Columbia. The Wildcats built a 24-7 halftime lead and hung on for an SEC road win, their first in six years. UK has won two straight over the Gamecocks. Creating Turnovers Again The 2015 season marks the second under defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Through two games, the Bulldogs are +3 in turnover margin and have scored 17 points off them. Opponents have been limited to 14 points a game. In 2014, Georgia finished with a +16 turnover margin and that ranked fourth nationally and was the fourth best in school history. Also in 2014, the Bulldogs ranked fifth in the SEC in scoring defense at 20.7 points a game. USC is tied for second in the SEC with a +3 turnover margin. Georgia, USC and Ole Miss are tied for the league lead with four interceptions. USC linebacker Skai Moore has three picks on the year. Bulldog Rushing Attack Setting The Tone Georgia s ability to run the football is one of the main reasons why the Bulldogs are off to a 2-0 start. In the opening win over ULM, Georgia tallied 243 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Then, the Bulldogs had 281 yards and two touchdowns in the road win against Vanderbilt. Sophomore Nick Chubb, one of the nation s top running backs, leads the way with 309 yards on 35 carries (8.8 average) and two touchdown this season. He has had 10 consecutive games with at least 100 yards rushing and that is the nation s second longest active streak behind Toledo s Kareem Hunt at 11 games. Offense Churning Along In the season-opening win over ULM, Georgia tallied 51 points, running 52 plays and gaining 435 yards. With the help from a special teams touchdown and a defensive touchdown, Georgia scored 31 points and racked up 422 total yards at Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs rank fifth in the SEC averaging 41 points per game while South Carolina ranks 13th averaging Veteran Offensive Line Back In Business The Bulldogs return four starters on the offensive line from the 2014 season. Senior LT John Theus, junior C Brandon Kublanow, junior RG Greg Pyke and senior RT Kolton Houston started all 13 games last season and have now started the first two in Kublanow, who played guard last year, moved over to center after three-year starter David Andrews graduated last year. Andrews signed as a non-drafted free agent with the New England Patriots and started the opener. Sophomore LG Isaiah Wynn is the fifth starting lineman this season. Former SEC Commissioner Slive To Be Recognized Saturday The SEC will help raise awareness of prostate cancer prevention and honor former commissioner Mike Slive, who battled the disease during his career, with Prostate Cancer Awareness Games on each of the 14 league campuses during the month of September. The 14 Athletics Directors of the SEC voted unanimously in May at the SEC Spring Meetings to recognize Slive by dedicating a game on each campus to prostate cancer awareness during which the home team will wear a commemorative helmet sticker in addition to other awareness activities. Slive will be in attendance at Sanford Stadium Saturday in Athens and be recognized during the game as part of Georgia s Prostate Cancer Awareness. The Bulldogs will also wear a helmet sticker in support of Curing Kids Cancer. This campaign supports National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September. on deck: southern university 12 p.m. (SECN) This is the first meeting between the Bulldogs and the Jaguars.

22 2015 Game Summaries ULM Sept. 5, 2015 Sanford Stadium - Athens, Ga. ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia quarterback Greyson Lambert threw two touchdown passes in his UGA debut and the Bulldog running backs piled up 243 yards on the ground as Georgia defeated ULM, 51-14, in front of a Sanford Stadium capacity crowd of 92,746 and a SEC Network television audience. The 2015 season opener was a shortened contest. The game officially ended with 9:54 remaining in the fourth quarter due to lightning at 3:49 p.m. The rain-soaked capacity crowd watched Lambert complete 8-of-12 passes for 141 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in his first start as a Georgia Bulldog. Fellow quarterback Brice Ramsey threw for 51 yards after completing each of his two pass attempts -- one of which was a 31-yard TD pass to tailback Sony Michel in the second quarter. Sophomore running back Nick Chubb led the way for the Bulldogs on the ground with 120 yards rushing. The All-SEC tailback tallied two touchdowns, including the Bulldogs first of the season from 14 yards out four minutes into the game. Senior wide receiver Malcom Mitchell led the team with three catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. The defense held the Warhawks to 251 total yards. Georgia defensive back Aaron Davis notched the team s only takeaway during the contest, intercepting a fade pass thrown by ULM in the first quarter. The Bulldogs were led by safety Quincy Mauger and linebacker Leonard Floyd, who both finished the contest with eight tackles. Senior place kicker Marshall Morgan tied Blair Walsh for the school record for PATs with 184. His tally ranks third in SEC history. After forcing a three and out on the Warhawks first drive, the Bulldogs had great field position on the ULM 21-yard line. Two Chubb carries later and Georgia had its first lead of the game at 7-0. On the ensuing possession, Davis picked off ULM QB Garrett Smith s fade pass down the left sideline, returning the ball to the 15-yard line. The Bulldogs wasted no time, putting six more points on the board when Lambert hit tight-end Jeb Blazevich in the endzone for a diving catch. The Bulldogs then put up 21 points in the second quarter thanks to a trio of touchdowns by the Georgia tailbacks. Keith Marshall, who missed most of last season due to an injury, made the most of his return, recording two touchdowns on the day -- his first coming on a 3-yard run in the second quarter. Chubb added a 23-yard TD run before Michel caught a 31-yard TD pass from Ramsey to take the Bulldogs into the half with a 35-7 lead. The Warhawks opened the second-half with a touchdown drive before play was suspended with 8:35 in the third quarter due to lightning. After an hour and 16-minute delay, action resumed at 3:15 p.m. Georgia added nine points to its lead in the third quarter thanks to a blocked punt by D Andre Walker that forced a ULM safety. Malcolm Mitchell followed with a 28-yard TD reception from Lambert. The Bulldogs added a score in the fourth when Marshall rushed in for his second score of the game -- this time a 2-yard TD run with 10:58 remaining in the fourth quarter to put the final score at in the Bulldogs favor. We re blessed that all our tailbacks stayed healthy in camp. They practiced extremely well. We have faith in their ability to do whatever it takes to make the offense go. We hope they continue to stay healthy and continue to share the load. Worth Noting Georgia improved to in season openers, including 12-3 under Mark Richt. The Bulldogs are now against non-conference teams, including 40-2 at home under Richt. The game was halted twice due to lightning (the first delay lasted one hour), and on the second stoppage with 9:54 left in the contest, the game was declared a final. Junior QB Greyson Lambert finished 8-for-12 for 141 yards and two touchdowns in his Bulldog debut. Lambert, who had nine starts for Virginia last year, graduated from UVA and transferred to UGA in the summer. With seven PATs vs. ULM, senior PK Marshall Morgan tied the school record for career PATs made with 184 with Blair Walsh. That tally ranks third in SEC history. Georgia had three first-time starters vs. ULM. Two of the first-time starters were transfers in QB Greyson Lambert (Virginia) and senior ILB Jake Ganus (UAB). The third was true freshman DB Rico McGraw. Senior LT John Theus is the active leader with 36 career starts, including 21 in a row.

Dominick Sanders intercepted a pass from Vanderbilt s Johnny McCrary late in the fourth quarter and returned it 88 yards, sealing a Georgia victory and producing the final score of in the first conference battle for each team. Sanders pick was one of three that the ballhawking Bulldogs pulled in on the day. The defense, which surrendered only 105 rushing yards on 39 attempts and held Vanderbilt to 7-of-21 on third down, did not allow Vanderbilt to score a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter. It was another strong effort from coach Jeremy Pruitt s unit despite Lorenzo Carter being disqualified early on for a targeting penalty. Georgia forced three turnovers in the game, all coming as interceptions from McCrary, with senior Jake Ganus and sophomore Reggie Wilkerson both adding interceptions to Sanders 88-yard scamper to the end zone. Senior linebacker Jordan Jenkins turned in a dominant performance individually, totaling a career-high 11 tackles with 5.5 behind the line of scrimmage. Jenkins also got after the quarterback with a team-best five QB hurries. Fittingly, it was the defense that finished off the game with Sanders pick-six, as Vanderbilt had the ball deep in Georgia territory and trailed by 10 at the time. The running game was also strong as Georgia ran up 281 yards on the ground against the Commodores and averaged more than 6 yards per carry in the contest. Sophomore backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel combined for 245 yards on 31 carries, an average of 8 yards per carry. Chubb, who totaled 189 yards on 19 carries (9.9 ypc average) burst for a 68-yard gain on his second carry of the contest and Michel boasted a long of 31 yards in the game, a carry he took into the end zone to put the Bulldogs ahead 14-3 in the second quarter. The passing game overcame a slow start to produce 141 yards on 25 attempts. Starter Greyson Lambert finished the day 11-for-21 with 116 yards and rushed for a touchdown. For the second straight game, Brice Ramsey took a first-half series and went 2-for-4 for 25 yards through the air. The quarterbacks only took one sack as the offensive line had yet another strong showing. When bad things happen, we certainly could ve lost it. To get out of a game like this with a victory and still be able to learn from it is going to be very valuable to us, and that ll be our goal. Worth Noting Senior OLB Jordan Jenkins posted a team-leading and career-high 11 stops, including 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. He is the active leader in the SEC with 18 sacks and 35.5 career tackles for loss. With his performance, Jenkins moved to No. 5 on Georgia s all-time list for TFLs. Sophomore Isaiah McKenzie had his first punt return for touchdown of the year, third in his career. It was a career-best 77 yards. He is the SEC s active leader in punt returns for touchdowns with three, and UGA now has 22 special teams touchdowns in the Mark Richt era, now in its 15th year. It was the longest return for Georgia since Brandon Boykin s 92-yard score against Michigan State in the 2012 Outback Bowl. Through two games, Georgia has tallied 17 points off four opponent turnovers, including 10 against Vanderbilt on three takeaways. UGA has yet to turn the ball over. Nick Chubb extended his 100-yard rushing streak to 10 games, only one behind the national leader (Toledo s Kareem Hunt, 11). Redshirt sophomore OLB Davin Bellamy and freshman TE Jackson Harris each earned their first career start in the contest.
