Michigan cut it to six points, 64-58, on a pair of free throws from freshman Kysre Gondrezick with 44 seconds left in the period. However, MSU outscored U-M in the final period, 19-10, to seal the win. Williams and Thompson have served as captains the last two seasons. It is the fifth AP poll appearance under fifth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. The three straight appearances is the longest stretch of being ranked under KBA. U-M also came in at No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Hitting 20 Wins For the sixth straight season, U-M has reached the 20-win plateau after knocking off Purdue on Feb. 8. It was the fastest the Wolverines have ever gotten to 20 victories. Michigan is now up to 21 wins on the season following a win over Wisconsin (Feb. 12). The single-season record for victories is 22, reached in and in Big Ten Success Michigan has reached the 10-win plateau in Big Ten action for the first time under head coach Kim Barnes Arico and the seventh time in school history. The junior has seven double-figure scoring games and has grabbed at least six rebounds in 18 contests. She has two double-doubles on the season after going for 10 points and 10 rebounds at No. 11 Ohio State (Jan. 7). Dunston is ninth in the Big Ten in rebounding. Sharp Shooting For the 10th time this season, the Wolverines shot at least 50 percent from the floor when they hit 52.5 percent of their shots at Illinois (Feb. 1). It was Michigan s third 50-percent shooting game in Big Ten play. On the season, U-M is second in the Big Ten and ninth nationally in field goal percentage at 47.3 percent. Michigan is shooting 39.4 percent from behind three-point range, which is fourth nationally and leads the Big Ten. The Floor General Senior Siera Thompson leads Michigan in assists this season, handing out 140 for a 5.0 per game average. She became just the second Wolverine to top 500 assists and now has 515 to rank second all-time at Michigan. Grinding One Out Over the last two seasons, Michigan has averaged 79.3 points per game and relied on its high-scoring offense to win games. U-M flipped the script to begin Big Ten play, pulling out a win over Rutgers on Dec. 28. It marked the first time the Wolverines won a game this season without scoring at least 65 points.
