TEAM NOTES HOME SWEET HOME TO ME... The Lady Vols open the campaign with a home exhibition contest vs. Carson-Newman on Monday night and then proceed to play their first eight regular-season games at home. Tennessee won t leave Knoxville until December, when it faces Wichita State (Dec. 11), #16/14 Stanford (Dec. 16) and #10/9 Oregon State (Dec. 19) in consecutive road tilts. BIG EXPECTATIONS The Lady Vols have been picked fourth in the country in both the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Poll for the third consecutive season. After making the NCAA Elite Eight in and finishing sixth in both polls, Tennessee was ranked No. 3 in Charlie Creme s espnw Pre- Preseason Top 25 in April, and the Lady Vols are among the elite in most polls entering despite losing three players to graduation and the WNBA. Athlon Sports also has the Lady Vols at No. 3 in its preseason poll. Tennessee was predicted to finish second in the 2016 SEC race by an SEC and national media voting panel. The Lady Volunteers posted a 15-1 SEC record and claimed a share of the regular season championship last season Tennessee has notched records of 27-8, 29-6 and 30-6 in Holly Warlick s first three seasons and boasts nine returning letterwinners and three starters from a year ago. Combine that with Diamond DeShields hitting the court after redshirting last season and the addition of highly-regarded freshmen Te a Cooper and Meme Jackson, and most analysts are expecting big things from Tennessee. NUMBERS TO WATCH Tennessee enters the season on a 22- game home winning streak (excludes exhibition contests). The Lady Vols set a program record by forging an 18-0 mark while playing at Thompson-Boling Arena a year ago. The UT women open a campaign with eightstraight regular-season home games for the first time. Holly Warlick begins the campaign just 14 wins shy of 100 coaching victories. Bashaara Graves starts her senior season ranked 30th at UT with 1,169 career points and needs only 45 rebounds to break into UT s top 15 in that category. Graves is tied for 10th in career rebounds per game at 7.3. Mercedes Russell begins her redshirt sophomore campaign ranked fourth in career field goal percentage at.596 (93-156). Russell ranks eighth in career blocks per game at Andraya Carter enters at No. 10 in career three-point field goal percentage at.366 (63-172). PRESEASON HONORS FOR UT PLAYERS Diamond DeShields has been named to the preseason All-SEC First Team. Because of a tie, there were six players named to the team which customarily has five players picked by the media. The the other preseason All-SEC picks by the media were Tiffany Mitchell, Aja Wilson and Alaina Coates of South Carolina, Victoria Vivians of Mississippi State and Makayla Epps of Kentucky. DeShields was chosen No. 6 on espnw s Top Women s Basketball Players for DeShields was named a preseason secondteam All-American by College Sports Madness. DeShields made the College Sport Madness preseason All-SEC Team as a first-team selection, while Bashaara Graves was a third-team choice and Te a Cooper was picked to make the SEC All- Freshman Team. WARLICK ON POINT Following a legend is a nearly-impossible task, but yet Holly Warlick appears to be doing just fine as Pat Summitt s hand-picked successor. In three seasons as Tennessee s head coach, Warlick has produced an overall record and a 42-6 mark in SEC contests. That mark translates to an.811 winning percentage, which places Warlick fifth among all active NCAA Division I women s basketball coaches after only three complete seasons as a head coach. Entering , the only NCAA Division I coaches ranking ahead of Warlick are Geno Auriemma of UConn (.873, 30 yrs.), Kim Mulkey of Baylor (.829, 15 yrs.), Tara VanDerveer of Stanford (.815, 36 yrs.) and Karl Smesko of Florida Gulf Coast (.812, 16 yrs.). In her first three seasons at Tennessee, Warlick DID YOU KNOW? Lady Vols Welcome Nike to Rocky Top Tennessee began an eight-year apparel and sponsorship agreement with Nike on July 1, The Vols revealed their three new Nike uniforms that same day. In addition to UT s standard home white and road orange uniforms, the new Nike uniform collection includes an alternate Smokey Gray style (pictured above) that offers a nod to the look worn by Tennessee s basketball teams in the early 1900s. What #VFL or #LVFL Means... VFL is an acronym used across Tennessee s various athletic programs that stands for Vol For Life. LVFL applies to women s basketball players and stands for Lady Vol For Life. Rather than referring to former Vols or Lady Vols, we prefer to call them VFLs and LVFLs. is 48-8 vs. SEC schools, including 42-6 vs. league foes during the regular season. The 42-6 mark in league play equals a winning percentage of.875, which is No. 1 among active SEC coaches. She has led the Lady Vols to a pair of SEC regular season championships (2013, 2015) and an SEC Tournament title (2014), winning at least one league trophy in each of her first three seasons. All three of the squads she has directed have made the NCAA Tournament, with the 2013 and 2015 teams advancing to the Elite Eight and the 2014 edition making it to the Sweet 16. Since becoming head coach, five of her players have been taken in the WNBA Draft. UT made it to the 2015 NCAA Elite Eight despite losing key inside players Harrison, Mercedes Russell and Jasmine Jones to injury for all or large parts of last season. Back are 6-foot-2 senior forward Bashaara Graves (10.6 ppg., 7.0 rpg., 1,000-point scorer), 5-9 redshirt junior Andraya Carter (7.7 ppg., 3.1 rpg., 2.3 spg., 2015 SEC steals leader) and 5-11 junior guard Jordan Reynolds (7.3 ppg., 3.6 rpg., 1.5 apg.), who combined for 100 starts last season and have 190 for their careers. Mercedes Russell (surgery on both feet), a 6-6 redshirt sophomore center, and Jasmine Jones (head injury), a 6-2 redshirt junior forward, return in full health after injury-induced redshirt seasons and will play key roles in UT s lineup in Jones, who started six times in seven games last season as a junior, was averaging 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds and had earned the role of UT s stopper on defense before her departure a year ago due to injury. Her athleticism and experience should allow her to pick up right where she left off. As a freshman in , Russell averaged 6.3 points and 5.0 rebounds and shot 60 percent from the field before taking a year off to return to health. She is pain-free, and her improved mobility is quite apparent. Sophomore Jaime Nared, a 6-2 forward, leads a group of four additional returnees who saw extensive playing time a year ago. Nared averaged 5.2 points and 3.5 rebounds, hitting double figures nine times as a rookie. Nia Moore, a 6-3 senior center, got nine starts last year, averaging 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds with three 20-point games along the way. Alexa Middleton, a 5-9 sophomore guard (3.8 ppg., 1.4 apg.), and Kortney Dunbar, a 6-2 sophomore forward (3.1 ppg., 1.4 rpg.), gained valuable experience last year and should be two of the team s prime three-point threats. THREE NEWCOMERS Tennessee will welcome three new players and a whole lot of athleticism at the guard position this season. Holly Warlick is looking forward to redshirt sophomore Diamond DeShields and freshmen Te a Cooper and Meme Jackson hitting the floor for the Big Orange. DeShields, a 6-1 dynamic redshirt sophomore guard, arrived as UT prior to the season after transferring from North Carolina. DeShields earned consensus 2014 national freshman of the year honors at UNC with averages of 18.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Ranked the No. 3 player in the country coming out of high school, she joins (in Mercedes Russell) the No. 1-ranked prep player in 2013 to give Tennessee a highly-regarded inside-outside duo. DeShields had expressed interest in Tennessee but opted for UNC on signing day. She earned honorable mention All-America honors from AP and Full Court and was both All- ACC First Team and All-Freshman at North Carolina. DeShields set four ACC freshman marks, including points (648), field goals (248), field goals attempted (582) and double-figure scoring games (32). Her mom, Tisha (Milligan) DeShields, was a track & field All-American at Tennessee (heptathlon) in DeShields father (Delino) enjoyed a 13-year major league baseball career, while her brother (Delino Jr.) currently plays with the Texas Rangers. In terms of true freshmen, McDonald s All- American Game Co-MVP Te a Cooper, a 5-7 point guard, brings exciting playmaking and three-point shooting to the program. Cooper was a four-year prep starter who led McEachern High School to Georgia 6A state titles in 2012 (33-0), 2014 (29-2) and 2015 (24-6). She averaged 27.3 points, 7.3 apg., 3.9 rpg. and 3.5 spg. as a senior. Meanwhile, 5-11 guard Meme Jackson adds great athleticism, defensive tenacity and betterthan-advertised shooting abilities. Jackson averaged 9.3 ppg., 5.3 rpg., 4.3 apg. and 1.5 spg. as a senior but 14.2 ppg. over her last six games as Blackman won its second-straight state title. ROSTER BREAKDOWN The Lady Vols roster features 12 student-athletes representing five states There are three Lady Vols each from Tennessee, Oregon, and Georgia. Two hail from Illinois and one from Alabama. Tennessee has two seniors, three juniors (including two redshirt juniors), five sophomores (including two redshirt sophomores) and two freshmen. A LOOK AT THE SERIES VS. C-N Monday night s match-up between the Lady Vols and Lady Eagles will be the 26th meeting between the programs. Tennessee and Carson-Newman have met during the regular season on 16 occasions, with the Lady Vols owning a 14-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Lady Vols and Lady Eagles have met on the hardwood in 11 exhibition contests, with UT prevailing in all 11 of them. After a close first half, Tennessee stormed out of the gate after halftime with a 19-5 run to take control. The Lady Vols finished with a rebounding advantage and 52 points in the paint to counter Caron-Newman s strong three-point shooting (9-of-20). Moore scored 29 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the field and a 5-of-7 effort from the stripe. Graves was also very efficient in her scoring, making 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line. Freshman Alexa Middleton scored 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting and dished out four assists in her Tennessee debut. Jasmine Jones had 10 points and Jordan Reynolds paced the team with 11 rebounds to go with five points. Tatum Burstrom led Carson-Newman with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including a 4-of-7 day from three-point range. Tennessee led at halftime, thanks to Nia Moore s efficiency in the paint. The 6-3 junior post scored 17 first-half points on 8-of-9 shooting, making up for UT s struggles from 3-point range (4- of-13). Carson-Newman out-rebounded the Lady Vols, 20-18, in the first half. REGULAR SEASON OPENER IS NEXT SUNDAY Tennessee will tip off its regular season on Nov. 15, as the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears come to town for a 2 p.m. tilt (SECN+). It will mark the first meeting between the Lady Vols and the school located in Conway, which produced former NBA world champion, Scottie Pippen. Lady Vol director of basketball operations Michael Beaumont is a 2000 graduate of UCA. The game will mark the second straight season Tennessee has opened at home. Prior to last year s opener vs. Penn, UT had not opened at home since Pepperdine came to town on Nov. 13, 2011, and fell to UT, Give thanks this holiday season and donate two (2) non-perishable food items and receive one (1) complimentary 300 level general admission ticket. MEMORIES OF ITALY The Lady Vols reaped the benefits of a summer tour in Italy from Aug. 5-13, going 3-0 overseas and getting a jump on strengthening team chemistry on their first summer tour since Tennessee was allowed 10 practices leading up to the Italian Tour. The squad traveled to the cities of Milan, Verona, Venice, Pisa, Florence and Rome, and it visited numerous cultural and historical sites. As a part of the trip to Italy, the Lady Vols took a course called Games, Sports and Politics in Italy from Antiquity to Early Modernity taught by Dr. Stephen Collins-Elliott, Assistant Professor of Classics, who travelled with the team to Italy. Tennessee defeated the Cameroon National Team, 66-49, in Montecchio Maggiore on Aug. 7, toppled Lithuanian University Teams Select, 71-61, in Ponte Buggianese on Aug. 9 and closed the tour with an romp over Selezione Dream Team Italy in Rome on Aug. 11. The average score of games was 72.7 to 45.7, for a 27.0 margin. Nia Moore (11.0), Mercedes Russell (9.3), Kortney Dunbar (9.3) and Jasmine Jones (8.7) were Tennessee s leading scorers during the trip. Jones (8.3), Moore (7.7), Russell (6.7) and Jai- me Nared (5.7) were the team s top rebounders. Moore also led the team in steals (2.7) and blocks (1.3), and she had the best performance of the excursion with 23 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, three steals and an assist vs. Selezione Dream Team Italy. Diamond DeShields and Bashaara Graves made the trip but did not play for precautionary reasons as they continued to work their way back from medical issues. GOLD MEDAL GALS Head coach Holly Warlick, who served as an assistant coach, and players Mercedes Russell and Diamond DeShields were part of the gold-medalwinning 2015 USA World University Games Team over the summer. The squad went 6-0 during the tournament, held July 4-13 in Gwangju, South Korea, capturing the sixth straight gold medal by the U.S. It marked the first gold medal as a USA coach for Warlick, who had struck gold three times as a player for her country (1980 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, 1979 World Championships, 1979 R. William Jones Cup). DeShields earned her fifth gold with USA Basketball, while Russell collected her third. Russell flashed the skills that made her the No. 1 incoming prep signee in 2013 by averaging 13.0 points and 9.2 rebounds and posting three doubledoubles. DeShields saw action in only one game out of caution for a previous injury but provided valuable leadership from the bench. WARLICK ON POINT Following a legend is a nearly-impossible task, but yet Holly Warlick appears to be doing just fine as Pat Summitt s hand-picked successor. In three seasons as Tennessee s head coach, Warlick has produced an overall record and a 42-6 mark in SEC contests. That mark translates to an.811 winning percentage, which ranks Warlick fifth among all active NCAA Division I women s basketball coaches after only three full seasons as a head coach. Entering , the only NCAA Division I coaches ranking ahead of Warlick are Geno Auriemma of UConn (.873, 30 yrs.), Kim Mulkey of Baylor (.829, 15 yrs.), Tara VanDerveer of Stanford (.815, 36 yrs.) and Karl Smesko of Florida Gulf Coast (.812, 16 yrs.). In her first three seasons, Warlick is 48-8 vs. SEC schools, including 42-6 vs. league foes during the regular season. The 42-6 mark in league play equals a winning percentage of.875, which is No. 1 among active SEC coaches. She has led the Lady Vols to a pair of SEC regular season championships (2013, 2015) and an SEC Tournament title (2014), winning at least one league trophy in each of her first three seasons. All three of the squads she has directed have made the NCAA Tournament, with the 2013 and 2015 teams advancing to the Elite Eight and the 2014 edition making it to the Sweet 16. Since becoming head coach, five of her players have been taken in the WNBA Draft. Three, including a first-rounder, were taken in Warlick has a record vs. ranked teams, including 9-5 in STRONG SCHEDULE Tennessee will play a schedule featuring 19 of 29 games vs. teams coming off postseason action in , including NCAA Final Four Teams Notre Dame and South Carolina. Ten of UT s 13 non-conference foes saw postseason duty in NCAA Tournament teams Syracuse (Nov. 20),

6 Chattanooga (Nov. 23), Albany (Nov. 27) and Texas (Nov. 29) come to Knoxville for consecutive appearances. The home out-of-conference slate also includes 2015 WNIT teams East Tennessee State (Dec. 2) and Stetson (Dec. 30), squads UT last faced in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Non-tourney teams Penn State (Nov. 18) and Virginia Tech (Dec. 6) also are coming to Rocky Top. The meeting with VT will be the first since 1999, while the match-up with PSU will be the first since All of Tennessee s non-conference road opponents made the NCAA field a year ago. The Lady Vols will play at Wichita State (Dec. 11), Stanford (Dec. 16) and Oregon State (Dec. 19) in succession for a very challenging end to the first semester and at Notre Dame on Jan. 18. The SEC slate will feature nine contests vs. teams that saw postseason duty a year ago Arkansas, LSU, Kentucky, Mississippi State, South Carolina (Final Four) and Texas A&M all made the NCAA field a year ago, while Missouri and Ole Miss were in the WNIT. TOP-TIER TALENT UT signed the No. 5 espnw HoopGurlz recruiting class in 2012, No. 3 in 2013, No. 6 in 2014 and No. 13 in UT signing only two players in the 15 class contributed to that ranking. The 2013 class included No. 1 Mercedes Russell, No. 8 Jannah Tucker and No. 42 Jordan Reynolds, but Tennessee now can add that year s No. 3 recruit, Diamond DeShields, to the mix, and subtract Tucker, who transferred. The top signees from 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 are Bashaara Graves (No. 5), Russell (No. 1), Jaime Nared (No. 6) and Te a Cooper (No. 12), respectively. ALL-STARS APLENTY Tennessee has seven McDonald s All-Americans on its roster. Those players are Te a Cooper, Diamond DeShields, Bashaara Graves, Alexa Middleton, Jaime Nared, Jordan Reynolds and Mercedes Russell. Cooper was the 2015 McDonald s All-American Game Co-MVP, scoring 21 points for the West. Russell was the 2013 McDonald s Game MVP, leading the West to victory with 16 points. Nared led the West to a win in 2014 with 15 points but came up just short in MVP voting. Tennessee now has had 27 McDonald s All- Americans on its rosters through the years. SEC SUCCESS Tennessee upped its total of combined SEC Championships to 35 in , winning its 18th all-time SEC regular-season title. That regular season co-championship came on the heels of Tennessee s SEC Tournament title in The Lady Vols have won SEC regular-season championships in four of the past six seasons. UT has 17 league tournament titles to its credit, including three straight from 2010 to 2012 and four of the last six. Since 1985, there have been only five seasons where Tennessee didn t win at least a regular season or tournament title. Those came in 1986, 1987, 1991, 1997 and The Lady Vols have swept SEC regular-season and tournament championships on eight occasions. Those years were 1980, 1985, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2010 and Tennessee stands first in regular season and tournament titles in conference history with Georgia ranking second with seven regular season trophies and Vanderbilt standing sixth in tourney hardware with six pieces. SEC CO-CHAMPS Tennessee finished in a tie with South Carolina at 15-1 to share the Southeastern Conference regular season title. It marked the 18th SEC regular season crown for the Lady Vols and 35th piece of league hardware overall when adding in UT s 17 SEC Tournament titles. The SEC trophy was the third won under the leadership of head coach Holly Warlick, who directed Tennessee to league regular season hardware in 2013 and 2015 and a tourney title in The Lady Vols have won at least a share of the title in four of the past six seasons and in 10 of the past 16. NCAA ELITE EIGHT Tennessee advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second time in three seasons under Holly Warlick and the 27th occasion in school history. The No. 2 seed Lady Vols fell to No. 1 seed Maryland in the Spokane Region championship game, Seniors Cierra Burdick and Ariel Massengale played their final game as Lady Vols and were named to the Spokane Region All-Tournament Team. UT made it to the region title game by erasing a 17-point deficit to Gonzaga with 6:34 remaining in the game to win, 73-69, in overtime. Tennessee managed to make it to within one game of the NCAA Final Four despite losing three key inside players to injury during the season. Mercedes Russell, a 6-foot-6 sophomore post player, had surgery on both feet and redshirted. She came to UT as the No. 1 prep player in the nation and had averaged 6.3 points and 5.0 rebounds while blocking 40 shots and shooting 60 percent from the field as a freshman. Jasmine Jones, a 6-foot-2 junior forward played only seven games before missing the rest of the season due to concussion-like symptoms. She had been averaging 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds and was considered UT s best defensive player before shutting it down for the season. All-America caliber player Isabelle Harrison, a 6-foot-3 senior center, played only 21 games. She missed five games early in the season with a knee injury and later suffered a torn ACL on Feb. 15 vs. Kentucky that ended her collegiate career. She was Tennessee s leading scorer (12.2 ppg.) and rebounder (8.6 rpg.) and a key interior defender. UT WINS 30 GAMES After winning 27 and 29 games, respectively, in and , the Lady Vols hit the 30- win plateau in The 30-6 record was the finest by a Lady Vols squad since the unit wound up 34-3, winning SEC regular season and tournament titles and advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight before falling to Notre Dame in the Dayton Region final, Holly Warlick won 30 games for the first time as a head coach. No other Tennessee women s coach had won that many games until their fifth season. Pat Summitt pushed her Big Orange squad to a 30-9 mark in her fifth campaign at the helm. SAD GOODBYES Tennessee lost three seniors off its SEC Co-Championship team, including 6-foot-2 forward Cierra Burdick, 6-3 center Isabelle Harrison and 5-7 guard Ariel Massengale. The players were the last members of the Lady Vol program to play for the legendary Pat Summitt, seeing the court as freshmen in Summitt s final season at the helm in Some referred to them as the Legacy Class. Burdick earned a degree in communication studies, Harrison earned a degree in communication studies in three years and was working on her master s in agricultural leadership, education and communications, and Massengale graduated with a degree in recreation and sport management. The players were saluted on Senior Night, when Tennessee hosted Vanderbilt on March 1, WNBA TAKES THREE For the fourth time in school history, Tennessee had three or more players chosen off its roster in the WNBA Draft. Isabelle Harrison became the 16th Lady Vol drafted in the first round, when Phoenix selected her 12th overall despite the fact she would miss the season recovering from a torn ACL. Cierra Burdick was next, going to Los Angeles in the second round with the 14th overall selection. Ariel Massengale made it a clean sweep of UT s seniors getting taken, when Atlanta drafted her in the third round with the 29th overall pick. Tennessee now has had 36 players drafted into the WNBA, including five during the Holly Warlick era POINT CLUB Cierra Burdick reached the 1,000-point plateau in her college career vs. Georgia in the SEC quarterfinals on March 6. She entered the game needing five points to reach the milestone and achieved it with a layup with 36 seconds to go in the first half. Burdick became the 42nd player in UT history to hit that mark and gave UT four players reaching 1,000 in the same season for the first time in program history. It is believed UT is the 11th school to have that many 1,000-point scorers on the same team. Isabelle Harrison (1/29/15 at Kentucky), Bashaara Graves (2/1/15 vs. Mississippi State) and Ariel Massengale (2/15/15 vs. Kentucky) already became the 39th, 40th and 41st players to accomplish that feat this season. With 10:28 remaining in the first half at Kentucky on Jan. 29, Harrison hit a layup and became the 39th Lady Vol to score 1,000 points in her career. Graves entered the Mississippi State game on Feb. 1 needing 16 points to join the club and hit her 16th and 17th points on free throws with 15.8 seconds remaining to end the game at 1,001 points and become the 40th Lady Vol to join the 1K club. Ariel Massengale entered the Kentucky game on Feb. 15 with 992 points, needing eight to become the third Lady Vol this season and the 41st overall to reach 1,000 points. She took care of business, firing in a three with 13:33 to go in the game to hit 1,000. She finished with 17 points and bumped her total to 1,009. Graves stands 30th in Lady Vol history at 1,169 with a season to play. Massengale wound up her career in 31st with 1,161, while Burdick was 39th with 1,072 and Harrison was 40th at 1,071. A-MASS JOINED CLUB Ariel Massengale joined a very select group of players in Lady Vol basketball history, and she tied Lea Henry to become the fastest to do so. Massengale became only the third player in program history to record 500 assists and score 1,000 points in her career at UT. Massengale reached 1,000 points vs. Kentucky on Feb. 15 and added her 500th assist in career game 116 vs. Georgia in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on March 6. She needed one assist and finished with three.

Prior to being named head coach, she spent 27 seasons on Tennessee s staff as an assistant coach ( ) and associate head coach ( ) for Summitt and also played four seasons for the hall of famer as a point guard ( ). UT Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Dave Hart named Warlick head coach of the Lady Vols on April 18, In a touching and symbolic gesture the following day at a press conference announcing the changes, Summitt presented her coaching whistle to her long-time aide and former point guard. The transition came about after the season, which Summitt began by announcing she had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, Alzheimer s type, on Aug. 23, ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS HEAD COACH Warlick has continued UT s proud tradition of graduating 100 percent of the women s basketball players who complete their eligibility at the school. By August 2015, all four of the undergraduate degree-seeking seniors she has coached (and an undergrad) earned theirs, improving UT s total to 127 all-time. RECRUITING PROWESS Warlick has continued the Lady Vols success on the recruiting trails, assisting with the #1 class in 2011 and following with the #5, #3 and #6 classes in 2012, 2013 and 2014, as ranked by the espnw HoopGurlz Class Rankings. Her 2013 class included #1 Mercedes Russell, #3 Diamond DeShields (transfer from North Carolina) and #8 Jannah Tucker. Other top-10 espnw signees include #5 Bashaara Graves in 2012 and #6 Jaime Nared in 2014 as well as 2015 signee Te a Cooper, who is ranked only #12 by espnw but top five by everyone else, including #4 by FullCourt. Tennessee will have seven McDonald s All-Americans on its roster in ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS AN ASSISTANT COACH Warlick was by Pat Summitt s side, either as a player or an assistant, for 949 of the coach s NCAA-record 1,098 wins and all eight NCAA National Championships. The WBCA recognized Warlick s contributions to Tennessee s success through the years, naming Warlick the nation s top assistant coach after she helped lead UT to its seventh national title in The NCAA Division I women s basketball coaches also recognized Warlick as one of the nation s top assistants in 1998, ranking her prominently in The Women s Basketball Journal poll. WARLICK KNOWS FINAL FOURS In 19 of the past 34 years Warlick has been affiliated with UT, she has found herself at the Final Four as a player (AIAW: 1977, 1979, 1980) or as a coach (NCAA: 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008). Her best Final Four showing as a player was national championship runner-up as a senior. As a coach, she has helped the Lady Vols win all eight times (1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007 and 2008). ONE OF THE BEST TO WEAR ORANGE & WHITE Warlick s association with the Lady Vols started in 1976 when she joined the program as a scholarship 400-meter track athlete who ended up walking on to the basketball team. She was the first player in Tennessee athletics (men or women) to have her jersey retired (number 22) at the end of her career in Bearden, her prep alma mater in Knoxville, retired Warlick s high school jersey (also No. 22) prior to a home football game on Oct. 26, Known as a play-making wiz during her four years as UT s point guard, Warlick was once tabbed the best player in the South. As a rookie, Warlick helped lead the Lady Vols to their first Final Four berth in school history in A three-time All-American while playing for Summitt from , Warlick previously held UT records for most assists in a game (14), most steals in a contest (nine), most assists in a season (225) and most games in a career (142). She continues to hold the Lady Vol single-season steals record with 141 in Warlick was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic basketball team and also participated in the Jones Cup, Pan American Games and World Championship competition. Professionally, she was a WPBL All-Star, leading the Nebraska Wranglers to the championship of the Women s Professional Basketball League in She served as a player representative on the USA BASKETBALL council and was a member of the USOC Advisory Council for Basketball. In recognition of being a former Olympian, Warlick earned the distinct honor of running the Olympic torch through Knoxville as it made its way to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. WARLICK CO-FOUNDS CHAMPIONS FOR A CAUSE In 2007, Warlick teamed up with former fellow Lady Vol player and assistant Nikki Caldwell, the current head coach at LSU, to create the Champions For A Cause Foundation.
