Nebraska has traditionally been one of the Big 12's best teams in San Antonio, advancing to the semifinals nine times and reaching six championship games, where the Huskers have won a conference-high five titles. NU is 17-7 all-time at the Big 12 Championship, having won its last game in the tournament in 2005, a 3-1 win over Kansas. The Huskers were ousted in the first round in 2006 and 2008 and did not qualify for the eight-team tournament in Nebraska ended the regular season with a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory (2-1) over Iowa State last Friday in Lincoln. Trailing 1-0 midway through the second half, sophomore Molly Thomas tied the game in the 72nd minute, before senior Lauren Isenhower scored the game-winning goal with 2 1/2 minutes remaining in the first overtime on a header from Thomas. The Huskers entered the week sixth in the Big 12 standings, but jumped to fourth with the victory, claiming the highest seed Nebraska has taken into the conference tournament since This Wednesday's contest with Oklahoma State will be a rematch of an Oct. 4 battle in Lincoln, which NU won, 2-0, on goals from seniors Shay Powell and Carly Peetz. This will be the first-ever NUOSU matchup at the Big 12 Championship, with the Cowgirls heading to San Antonio as one of the conference's hottest teams, rebounding from a 1-4 league start to win their last five games. Nebraska's side of the bracket includes defending Big 12 champion and No. 1 seed Missouri, who faces No. 8 Kansas on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. No. 3 Colorado takes on No. 6 Texas at 2 p.m., while No. 2 Texas A&M meets No. 7 Baylor at 8 p.m. in day one action. Friday's semifinals are slated for 5:30 p.m. (No.1/8 vs. No. 4/5) and 8 p.m. (No. 2/7 vs. No. 3/6), while the Big 12 Championship game will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m., in a nationally-televised match on Fox Sports Net. Freshman Morgan Marlborough has been the Huskers' top performer this year, leading the Big 12 Conference in goals (21) and points (49) the entire season, while she is also currently tied for the national goal lead with Portland's Danielle Foxhaven. Wally Crittenden, Michelle Demko Sophomore Molly Thomas has also been among the Big 12's best this year, ranking in the top 10 in the league in goals (8, T-6th) and assists (6, T-7th). While Marlborough and Thomas have paced the NU offense to the third-best scoring total in the nation (62 goals), seniors Anna Caniglia and Peetz have been stabilizing forces in the Huskers' successful regular season. Caniglia leads the team in assists (9) with the league's second-highest total, while Peetz has continued her role as one of Nebraska's best defenders in school history, helping the the Huskers hold opponents to 1.58 goals per game and producing career season-high totals on offense with four goals and three assists. Junior goalkeepers Tara Macdonald and Jessica Mills have split time in the net, with Macdonald ranking third in the Big 12 with a.800 save percentage. Both have posted winning records (Macdonald, 6-1-3; Mills, 5-3-1). Husker History vs. Oklahoma State Nebraska has won 10 of 14 matchups against Oklahoma State for a 10-4 lead in the all-time series. The Huskers only lost to the Cowgirls one time in the first 10 meetings, but Oklahoma State has been stronger in recent years and won three of the past four contests. The Cowgirls were ranked No. 9 nationally at the time of last year's NU-OSU matchup in Stillwater, which the Huskers dropped, 2-1, after a scoreless first half. Nebraska won this year's regular-season contest, 2-0, in Lincoln on Oct. 4. A Look Back: Huskers Knock Off Defending Big 12 Champs, 2-0 Nebraska used one of its most complete efforts of the season to earn its first Big 12 victory with a 2-0 win over Oklahoma State on Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Nebraska Soccer Field. The Huskers were a determined team in their Big 12 home opener after beginning conference play with a pair of road games, dropping a 1-0 battle at Colorado and fighting to a 3-3 tie at Texas Tech. Senior Shay Powell put the Huskers on the scoreboard quickly, when her shot from 10 yards away hit the crossbar and bounced over the line to put Nebraska on top, 1-0, at the 10:24 mark of the first half. Powell's goal off an assist from sophomore defender Blair Slapper was her second in a row in a Big 12 game after she also scored at Texas Tech. Nebraska held OSU to two shots in building a 1-0 lead into halftime that it would not relinquish behind a strong effort in the net from junior goalkeeper Jessica Mills. The Houston, Texas native played one of the best games of her career to keep a talented Cowgirl squad scoreless for just the third time this season. The NU defense aided Mills' effort by holding OSU to eight total shots, and was responsible for the Huskers' second goal of the afternoon as Peetz and Caniglia teamed up to ensure Nebraska would go home with its first Big 12 win of the season. Just two minutes after Mills' diving save, Caniglia took a free kick from 30 yards out near the Husker bench, which Peetz headed into the top-right corner of the net to give Nebraska an important insurance goal en route to its sixth home victory of the year and third shutout in Scouting the Oklahoma State Cowgirls Oklahoma State (12-7-0, 5-5-0) enters the Big 12 Championship on a five-game winning streak. "Oklahoma State has a very good program and very good team," NU assistant coach Wally Crittenden said. "We probably played our best defensive game of the season against them in our last match. We have to do that and execute again to put ourselves in a position to get opportunities." Oklahoma State was ranked No. 11 in the NSCAA preseason top 25 poll, but got off to a slow start with a 7-7 record through its first 14 games. That stretch included a 2-0 defeat at Nebraska on Oct. 4, as the Cowgirls started the league season with four of their first five conference games on the road. Annika Neimeier is far and away Oklahoma State's most potent offensive player, as she leads the Cowgirls with nine goals and four assists. Five teammates are tied for the second-most goals with four each. Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 Conference in shutouts with 11. Last year, the Cowgirls had their most successful season in school history, running to an (7-1-2) record en route to the Big 12 regular-season championship. The Cowgirls were ousted from the NCAA Tournament in the second round and finished the season ranked No. 13. Oklahoma State's Colin Carmichael is in his fifth season as the Cowgirls' head coach and holds a record. He was co-head coach with Karen Hancock in 2005 and 2006, when OSU began a run of three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. Last year's 18-win campaign marked the most victories in school history and earned Carmichael 2008 Big 12 Conference Coach-of-the-Year honors. This year's class has a combined 227 starts since 2006, has scored nearly 60 goals and includes four team captains. Head coach John Walker described the group as "hard-working, good character, talented, great students who have represented the program, athletic department and university in the right ways." The class has earned 31 spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and nine Academic All-Big 12 awards. Lauren Isenhower is currently in graduate school at the University of Nebraska, while the other five are all on track to earn their undergraduate degrees. Julie Berkshire (Omaha, Neb.) has enjoyed a breakout senior season. Appearing in 18 games, Berkshire had the game-winning assist in Nebraska's upset over Texas A&M on Oct. 18, just two days after she notched a goal against Texas. In her sophomore season, Berkshire scored twice in a 5-1 victory over St. Louis, with her first-career goal and assist coming as a freshman against Drake. A three-time member to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Berkshire has spent time working in the Nebraska Athletic Development Office while studying toward a degree in business administration. She plans to graduate this May. Anna Caniglia (Omaha, Neb.) has started all 78 games of her career, the ninth-most on the Nebraska all-time charts. However, none were more memorable than Oct. 23 at Kansas, when she turned in the 26th hat trick in school history and added an assist for a career-best seven-point game. A traditional defender, Caniglia has transitioned to midfield this season and leads the Huskers with nine assists to go along with five goals. Academically, she has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll all six semesters and is a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection. She will earn her undergraduate degree in marketing this December. Lauren Isenhower (Lenexa, Kan.) had her senior moment at the most opportune time, giving Nebraska its 2-1 win over Iowa State last Friday with a game-winning header in the 97th minute. Isenhower has played in all 19 games despite a knee injury sustained in She scored two goals in the home opener against Lamar, before back-to-back two-assist games versus Akron and South Dakota. As a freshman, Isenhower was one of the top newcomers on the team, starting 18 games and contributing two goals and three assists. A five-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member and 2008 second-team academic All-Big 12 selection, Isenhower earned a bachelor's degree in international business last May, but has played her senior season while attending graduate school at Nebraska. Brittney Lanier (Carrollton, Texas) has started 16 games during her career and made a remarkable comeback from a torn PCL injury to see playing time in her senior season. As a freshman in 2006, she scored two game-winning goals, while she has also posted one assist in Big 12 matches each of the past two years. Lanier has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll five times and is a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection. She is a religious studies and pre-nursing major and is on track to graduate next December. Carly Peetz (Lincoln, Neb.) has started 78 consecutive games for the Huskers, the ninth-most starts in school history. A 2008 All-Big 12 selection, Peetz is one of the most successful and talented defenders in school history. She has career-high totals in 2009 with four goals and three assists, including scoring in games against Oklahoma State, Texas and Kansas. Peetz was vital in Nebraska's upset over Missouri last year with three points on a goal and an assist. She is a six-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member and two-time academic All-Big 12 selection. In April 2009, she was a recipient of Nebraska's Hero Award. Peetz plans to graduate next December with a degree in advertising. Shay Powell (Dallas, Texas) led Nebraska in scoring as a sophomore and junior and has been one the Huskers' biggest offensive threats with 45 career points. She has started 52 games and been very strong in Big 12 action this season with three goals and one assist. Last year, Powell had three points in upsets over Kansas and Missouri, while also posting back-to-back two-goal games against UAB and Oakland. Powell has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll all six semesters and is a two-time academic All-Big 12 selection. She is a pre-law psychology major and will graduate next May. Marlborough Ending Best Freshman Season in School History Morgan Marlborough is wrapping up the best freshman campaign in school history and one of the best seasons overall by a Husker player in the 16-year tenure of the program. Marlborough registered an assist in Nebraska's 2-1 overtime victory over Iowa State last Friday, a week after notching two assists in Nebraska's 7-4 win at Kansas to move into fifth place on the NU single-season point chart with 49. She already ranks in a tie for fourth in single-season goals with 21, trailing only Kim Essenger (27, 1998; 26, 1997) and Christine Latham (23, 2000), and has held at least

5 a share of the NCAA goal lead since the first rankings were released Sept. 14. Marlborough has garnered national recognition through her spectacular season, as she was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and one of College Soccer 360's 'Primetime Performers of the Week' following her clutch play in Nebraska's 2-1 upset over No. 14 Texas A&M on Oct. 18. Marlborough increased her nation-leading goal total to 21 in the victory, as she scored both Husker goals, including the game-winner in the 82nd minute. The Big 12 award was the third of the season for Marlborough, as she was also won offensive and newcomer honors on Sept. 15. Marlborough is just the third freshman in Big 12 history to win three awards in a season, joining Texas A&M's Ashlee Pistorius (three in 2004) and Colorado's Nikki Marshall (four in 2006). Her three awards in 2009 lead the conference. College Soccer 360's 'Primetime Performers of the Week' are based on criteria that includes playing against top-25 teams or top-level opponents and players who are involved in clutch performances such as game-winning goals or late scores. Marlborough is the second Husker to be named one of College Soccer 360's 'Primetime Performers of the Week' this season after senior defender Carly Peetz earned the honor on Oct. 6. Following a hat trick in Nebraska's 5-2 victory over Oklahoma on Oct. 11, Marlborough set the Nebraska freshman single-season goal record, previously held by both Lindsay Eddleman and Isabelle Morneau in 1996 with 17 goals each. Marlborough's hat trick versus the Sooners was her second of the year, as the Lee's Summit, Mo., native tied the single-game school record with four goals against Akron on Sept. 18. Only 14 games into her freshman season, Marlborough became one of seven Huskers ever to produce multiple hat tricks in a career. Aside from being tied for the national lead in goals (also Danielle Foxhaven, Portland), Marlborough is No. 2 in goals per game (1.167) and points (48), while ranking third in points per game (2.67). Marlborough was voted Big 12 Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week on Sept. 15 after she turned in six goals and two assists in wins over North Dakota (Sept. 11) and Akron (Sept. 13). It marked just the third time in Big 12 history that a player has earned two awards in the same week. Aside from holding four nation-best marks, Marlborough's four-goal performance against Akron is tied for the best single-game performance in the Big 12 Conference this season. Colorado's Nikki Marshall matched Marlborough's four-goal game in the Buffs' 5-1 win over Oklahoma on Oct. 2. Marlborough has scored a point in 13 of 19 games and has seven multiple-goal games, the seventhmost by a Nebraska player in program history. Her seven assists are tied for second on the team and tied for fifth in the Big 12 Conference. For more on Marlborough, see page 30. Huskers Rank Third Nationally in Scoring Nebraska has scored the third-most goals of any women's college soccer team in the NCAA this season, as it has 62 goals through 19 games to lead the Big 12 Conference. The Huskers trail only Portland (70) and Stanford (66). Nebraska is averaging 3.26 goals per game (3rd NCAA) and has already scored the most goals by an NU team since The Huskers scored 45 times at home this fall, shattering the previous Nebraska Soccer Field season record of 26, which was set in both 2005 and Nebraska's seven goals at Kansas on Oct. 23 were the most in a Big 12 game since an 8-1 win over Texas Tech on Oct. 28, Nebraska's nine goals in a 9-0 victory over South Dakota on Sept. 18 are the most by a Big 12 team this season. Caniglia Named to TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week Senior Anna Caniglia was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Team of the Week on Oct. 27 following her hat trick in Nebraska's 7-4 win at Kansas on Oct. 23. The Omaha, Neb., native was one of 11 players honored nationally by the website for her outstanding performance. Caniglia scored three times on four shots and added an assist against the Jayhawks, while delivering one of the top highlights of the 2009 season on a bicycle kick in the box to put the Huskers ahead 4-2 in the 59th minute. Starting her 76th consecutive game, Caniglia gave Nebraska a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute on a tough-angle shot near the sideline, before contributing her final goal with 11 minutes remaining on a low shot that beat KU goalkeeper Kat Liebetrau to the far post. The senior finished the day with seven points, as she also assisted on Carly Peetz's score with 15 minutes remaining. Caniglia is the ninth non-forward to register a hat trick in school history and just the 15th Husker player to do so overall. Peetz Honored as One of CS360's "Primetime Performers of the Week" Senior defender Carly Peetz was rewarded for her strong defense and clutch effort as she was named one of College Soccer 360's "Primetime Performers of the Week" following her role in Nebraska's wins over Green Bay and Oklahoma State on Oct Peetz was the lone defender among the 18 players nationally recognized after she helped lead the Huskers to a 2-0 shutout against defending Big 12 champion Oklahoma State with a goal in the 78th minute. Oregon State Penn State -Bold indicates Big 12 opponent -Italics indicates nonconference opponent Peetz's goal came on a header following a free kick by Anna Caniglia from 30 yards away. Defensively, it was just the third time this season that the Cowgirls have been held scoreless, as Peetz and the Nebraska backline allowed OSU to take only eight total shots. College Soccer 360's "Primetime Performers of the Week" are based on criteria that includes playing against top-25 teams or top-level opponents and players who are involved in clutch performances such as game-winning goals or late scores. Peetz, Caniglia Reach All-Time Top 10 for Career Starts Senior defenders Carly Peetz and Anna Caniglia have reached the Nebraska top-10 list for career starts, as each has started 78 games in their Husker careers. More impressive, however, is that Peetz and Caniglia have done so in a consecutive streak from 2006 to The seniors are two of the most consistent and important players the NU soccer program has ever seen. On the field, the duo has helped the Huskers hold opponents to 1.58 goals per game this year. Perhaps even more impressive has been the offensive production. Peetz has a career-high 11 points this season, including one of the biggest goals of her career against Oklahoma State on Oct. 4, as Peetz headed in a free kick from Caniglia to wrap up Nebraska's 2-0 victory. Caniglia is tie for second in the Big 12 with nine assists, including possibly her biggest of the season in Nebraska's win over Texas A&M when her free kick led to the Huskers' first goal. Caniglia also has a career-high five goals this season, matching her previous three-year total combined. Thomas Continues to Lead Offensively, Pressure Defenses Sophomore Molly Thomas has emerged as one of Nebraska's best offensive players in recent history. The Omaha, Neb., native has eight goals and eight assists (23 points) this season, including one of the best games of her career last Friday when she scored the gametying goal and then contributed the game-winning assist in Nebraska's 2-1 win over Iowa State. She also had a solid two-game stretch Oct when she produced an assist in each of Nebraska's contests against Baylor and Oklahoma. Thomas' offensive prowess is evident even when it does not show up in the statistics. Following Nebraska's 2-1 victory over Texas A&M, Morgan Marlborough credited Thomas' aggressiveness and speed for putting the Huskers in position to score. Against Kansas, Thomas had one goal and one assist. She has scored a point in four of the last seven games. A member of the 2008 Big 12 All-Newcomer team, Thomas turned in a career-best twogoal, two-assist game in Nebraska's 9-0 win against South Dakota on Sept.18. Freshmen See Playing Time in First Year with Huskers Freshman Jordan Jackson and Marlborough have played in all 19 games this season, starting 13 contests and scoring five goals on 44 shots, while also tallying three assists. Freshman Bri Exstrom saw her first game action of the 2009 season against South Dakota on Sept. 18 and made the most of her opportunity by notching a goal in the 82nd minute. The freshman class was responsible for four of Nebraska's five goals in the win over Oklahoma on Oct. 11 and has 27 on the season (Marlborough-21, Jackson-5, Exstrom-1). Nebraska has high hopes for its freshman class, which includes goalkeeper Emma Stevens, forward/midfielder Stacy Bartels, defender/midfielder Taylor Houck and defender Bri Badje. Review: Isenhower's Overtime Header Lifts Huskers Over Cyclones, 2-1 Despite a second-half deficit in cold and rainy weather conditions, Nebraska would not be denied on 2009 Senior Day, as Lauren Isenhower's header in the 97th minute broke a 1-1 tie and sent the Huskers away with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over Iowa State on Oct. 30. Isenhower was one of six Husker seniors playing her last home game and came up with the biggest play of her career, as the win concluded Nebraska's regular season with an record, the best mark by a Husker team since It also marked the fifth overtime game this season for Nebraska, but the first extra-period victory after the Huskers had tied the previous four contests. Isenhower's game-winning goal - her first since she scored twice against Lamar on Sept. 4 - earned Nebraska the No. 4 seed in the Big 12 Championship, as NU finished the conference season with a record. Isenhower's goal came off a cross from sophomore Molly Thomas in the far corner. Thomas gave Nebraska an opportunity for the win as she scored her eighth goal of the season in the 72nd minute, just nine minutes after Iowa State took a 1-0 lead on a Mary Kate McLaughlin header off a free kick. Thomas' goal came as the result of an Anna Caniglia corner kick, which was flicked by freshman Morgan Marlborough before Thomas gained control on the right side of the box and sent in the equalizer. Nebraska and Iowa State were scoreless through the first half, although the Huskers nearly scored on two shots off the post from Marlborough and Peetz. NU finished the game with a advantage in shots, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.

It was only the third time in school history that the Huskers have opened the season on the road (4-0 win at Minnesota in 2000; 4-3 loss at Northwestern in 2008), but Nebraska (1-0-0) outshot Northern Colorado (0-1-0) and posted its first shutout since last October. The Huskers used strong performances from two of its youngsters, as sophomore Molly Thomas recorded a pair of goals, while freshman Morgan Marlborough also scored one goal and added an assist in her Husker debut. Marlborough accounted for the game-winning score, as she found the net on a rebound just 16 seconds before halftime. Thomas took advantage of a rebound as well, as she made it a 2-0 lead just two minutes later. Thomas added her second goal of the evening with 16 minutes remaining, receiving a pass from Marlborough for the final margin. Marlborough is coming off a solid preseason in which she was one of Nebraska's most impressive freshmen, while Thomas is building on a strong first season in which she was named to the Big 12 All- Newcomer Team. Junior transfer Tara Macdonald was superb in the net for NU, playing all 90 minutes at goalkeeper and stopping eight shots for her first shutout as a Husker. The victory improved head coach John Walker's record to in season openers. Game-by-Game Box Scores Lehigh 3 Nebraska 1 Friday, Aug. 28, Villanova, Pa. Goetzmann's goal came in the 66th-minute when she found the bottom left corner of the net on an assist from freshman Jordan Jackson. The goal cut a 2-0 Mountain Hawk lead in half, but Lehigh was able to hold off Nebraska following an insurance score with just over four minutes remaining in the game. Nebraska took 19 shots overall, but had a tough time getting past Lehigh goalkeeper Lauren Mains, who played all 90 minutes and stopped 10 of the 11 shots Nebraska fired on goal. Senior defender Anna Caniglia had a team-high four shots for the Huskers, while freshman Morgan Marlborough led NU in shots on goal with three. Lehigh got on the board 10 minutes into the game when Natalie Hojnacki converted from the left side of the box off a pass from Jana Basubas. Nebraska controlled the ball in the first half, as it outshot Lehigh, 9-3, but still went into the locker room trailing 1-0. The Mountain Hawks struck quickly again in the second half, as Liz Carlos used a header on a rebound in the 54th minute to give Lehigh a 2-0 lead. Following Goetzmann's goal to make it a 2-1 contest, Lehigh's Genna Pepe put the game away with 4:36 remaining on a goal from the middle of the box. Nebraska's 11 shots on goal were the most in a game in nearly a year, when the Huskers also had 11 in a 2-1 win over Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 21, Goetzmann's goal was the second of her career as she also scored in Nebraska's 3-1 win against Iowa State last season. Nebraska 2 Villanova 2 Sunday, Aug. 30, Villanova, Pa. Senior defenders Carly Peetz and Anna Caniglia teamed up for what looked to be the game-winning score in the 77th minute, when Caniglia sent a free kick from the right sideline directly in front of the goalie box. Congestion ensued in front of the net, but Peetz was able to push the ball past Villanova goalkeeper Molly Williams to give the Huskers a 2-1 lead. Villanova forward Katie Ryan then turned up the heat and took four shots in the final minutes, including one attempt in the 89th minute that slid near the post before Nebraska goalkeeper Tara Macdonald snagged the ball from crossing the goal line. Sixty-two seconds later, Ryan made good on her final opportunity when she chased down a long ball near the top of the penalty box and sent it over Macdonald's head for the gametying score. Neither team was able to convert in the overtime periods, as both teams had ample opportunities to score with seven shots apiece in the extra sessions, including three shots on goal. Nebraska trailed 1-0 at halftime before notching its first goal of the game in the 57th minute on a header by freshman Morgan Marlborough. The Lee's Summit, Mo., native used a terrific pass from the corner from senior Shay Powell and headed the ball into the upper left side of the goal for her second score of the season. Nebraska outshot Villanova, 26-25, marking the most shots by the Huskers in a road game since Oct. 12, 2007 in a 4-0 shutout at Lamar (44 shots). The Huskers played strong defense by limiting Lamar to just six total shots, while the offensive power came from senior Lauren Isenhower and freshman Morgan Marlborough, who each scored two goals. The Huskers' seven goals set a Nebraska Soccer Field record and also marked the most NU has scored in a game since the 2004 NCAA Sweet 16 squad had seven against Northern Colorado. Isenhower's scores broke the game open near the end of the first half as she found the net twice on assists from junior Michaella Fulmer within a span of five minutes to give the Huskers a 4-1 lead at the break. The Cardinals' lone goal came at the 34:30 mark of the first half after NU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on scores from Marlborough and senior Shay Powell in the first 14 minutes of the contest. Marlborough added her second goal just 95 seconds into the second half on a penalty kick that beat Lamar goalkeeper Jennifer Gibbs on the right side of the net and increase the Husker lead to 5-1. The Huskers' final scores came from junior Colleen Goetzmann off a corner kick from senior Anna Caniglia, while Fulmer wrapped up the scoring by adding a goal with 24 seconds left when she scored in the box off a free kick from sophomore Blair Slapper. Marlborough finished the game with five points as she assisted on Powell's score, while Fulmer and Isenhower turned in four-point performances. Marlborough increased her team-leading goal total to four. The Huskers had 27 shots overall, including 15 on goal. Junior goalkeepers Tara Macdonald and Jessica Mills split time in net for NU, with Mills recording each of the Huskers' two saves. Freshman Morgan Marlborough increased her team-leading goal total to six in the win, as she found the net twice to lead Nebraska to its second straight victory. The Huskers' 13 goals in the last two games are the most in a two-game span since Nebraska put the game out of reach 10 minutes into the second half when the Huskers scored three goals in just over six minutes. Junior Colleen Goetzmann began the outburst when she scored on an assist from Marlborough (26:49) directly in front of the North Dakota goalkeeper. Freshman Jordan Jackson then used a deflection in the goalie box to find the net (51:55), before Marlborough added her second and most impressive goal on a sliding cross shot from the left side of the penalty box (53:07). Marlborough's first goal came from the top of the penalty box with 18 minutes remaining in the first half to give NU a 2-0 lead before North Dakota's Rhaya Ballon cut the margin in half seven minutes later. The Huskers' scoring barrage started on an own goal that deflected off a North Dakota player in front of the Fighting Sioux net just 4:24 into the game. For the second straight game, junior Michaella Fulmer added Nebraska's last goal (77:35) to produce the final score. The Huskers took 25 shots overall, while connecting on six of 10 shots on goal. The NU defense was strong again, limiting the Fighting Sioux to eight shots. Juniors Tara Macdonald and Jessica Mills split time in goal for the Huskers, as Macdonald played the first 59 minutes (4 saves, 1 goal allowed) before Mills shut out the Sioux for the remainder of the game, as NU's defense held North Dakota without a shot on goal with Mills at the back. Marlborough was nearly unstoppable versus the Zips, scoring four times on six shots to match Kim Essenger (vs. Baylor; Nov. 7, 1997) and Meghan Anderson (vs. Oral Roberts; Sept. 3, 1999) for the most goals in a single game in Husker history. The Lee's Summit, Mo., native already ranks No. 6 on the Nebraska freshman all-time charts for goals and points in a season. Marlborough struck early and often on Sunday, as she scored her first goal just 3:25 into the contest when she slipped past the Akron goalkeeper at the top of the penalty box. The freshman added her second score following a corner kick midway through the first half, before accounting for both of Nebraska's goals to begin the final 45 minutes. Seniors Shay Powell and Lauren Isenhower assisted on the second-half goals as each sent the ball to Marlborough from the corner to help the Huskers mount a commanding 6-0 lead. Nebraska held a 4-0 halftime advantage after senior defender Carly Peetz cleaned up a loose ball in front of the net following a corner kick with 2:54 remaining. Sophomore forward Molly Thomas had an impressive outing as well, scoring two goals on six shots. A member of the 2008 Big 12 All-Newcomer team, Thomas gave Nebraska a 2-0 lead 6 1/2 minutes into the game when she took a pass from junior Brittany Goosen and fired a shot past the Akron goalkeeper from the right side of the penalty box. Thomas added a second score off another long assist when junior goalkeeper Jessica Mills sent a free kick to the top of the penalty box where Thomas beat the Zip goalkeeper for Nebraska's final goal of the game.

The win was the fourth in a row for the Huskers. Nebraska upped its season goal total to 35, four more than the entire 2008 season. The Huskers entered the weekend as the nation's third-best scoring team, featuring freshman Morgan Marlborough, who added to her NCAA-leading goal total with two scores. Marlborough was one of three Huskers with a multi-score game, as sophomore Molly Thomas and freshman Jordan Jackson also registered a pair of goals. Thomas continued a spectacular start to her second season, adding two assists versus South Dakota to finish with six points in the contest. The Omaha, Neb., native now has 15 points (6 goals, 3 assists) to surpass her freshman total of 11. Jackson and Thomas were the driving force in the second half as they scored all their goals in Nebraska's stretch of seven scores over the final 45 minutes. Junior Colleen Goetzmann gave Nebraska a 2-0 lead with 24:56 to go in the first half when senior Anna Caniglia contributed the first of two assists in the game to pull into a tie for the team lead with four on the season. Nebraska used a total team-effort to spread the margin in the second half, including a goal by junior Jaclyn White on a penalty kick to give the Huskers a 6-0 lead with 27:46 remaining. Husker freshmen scored five of Nebraska's nine goals, as Bri Exstrom made the most of her first appearance of the season, scoring with 8:24 left off Caniglia's cross into the penalty box. South Dakota attempted just four shots, including one on goal to mark season-best totals for the Husker defense in both categories. Marlborough's NCAA-leading 13th goal of season came after she gained control near the top left side of the penalty box and beat an ASU defender to score from 15 yards away. With 13 goals and 30 points this season, the freshman has already put up the highest season totals by a Husker in both categories since Nebraska held on to the 1-0 lead for the next 36 minutes behind solid goalkeeping by junior Tara Macdonald. The Husker goalie played all 110 minutes and did not allow a goal until 14:06 to go in the game when Arizona State's Taylor McCarter scored from nearly the same spot as Marlborough's goal in the first half. Macdonald finished the game with four saves, including three in the final 15 minutes of the first half. Although Nebraska finished with two shots on goal, the offensive production was greater than the final stats indicate. Following a corner kick just 14 minutes into the game, junior Anna White headed a shot off the right post, before Marlborough hit the left post from 18 yards out two minutes later. Arizona State outshot Nebraska, overall, with both teams registering three shots apiece in the overtime periods. Aside from the goal, the Huskers' other shot on net came off the leg of junior midfielder Colleen Goetzmann with 2:42 remaining in the first half. The tie was the second overtime game of the season for the Huskers, as Nebraska also tied Villanova, 2-2, on Aug. 30. Colorado 1 Nebraska 0 Friday, Sept. 25, Boulder, Colo. The Huskers were in control offensively for the majority of the first half, outshooting Colorado, Sophomore Molly Thomas had four shots in the first 45 minutes, including one attempt in the 36th minute that hit the cross bar, but Nebraska found itself in a scoreless game at halftime for the first time this season. Junior goalkeeper Tara Macdonald dealt with a more aggressive Buffalo offense in the second half, which took advantage of a rare scoring opportunity in the 68th minute. Macdonald was forced to come out of the goalie box to make a save, but was caught in cluster of players from both teams after she deflected the ball into the air. Colorado's Kassidy Fitzpatrick gained control of the loose ball and fired a shot into the open net for the game's only goal and eventually send Nebraska to its first loss since Aug. 28. The Buffaloes took eight shots on goal to the Huskers' five, led by a pair from junior Colleen Goetzmann. Thomas, sophomore Blair Slapper and freshman Morgan Marlborough also registered shots on net for Nebraska, which was held scoreless for the first time this season. Macdonald finished the game with seven saves. 23

Marlborough's efforts helped the Huskers to a 3-1 halftime lead, but the advantage disappeared quickly after the break as the Red Raiders scored twice in the first 12 minutes of the second half to produce the final 3-3 score. Marlborough struck early when she knocked in a 25-yard shot off the left post just 1:40 into the game, before scoring her second goal at the 22:50 mark after she cleaned up a missed header and beat Texas Tech goalkeeper Erin Wikelius. The Red Raiders cut the lead to 2-1 with five minutes remaining in the first half on Leanne Mihelich's first of two goals in the game. Powell responded for the Huskers just over a minute later on an open net goal after Wikelius was attempting to clear the ball out of the penalty box. The goal gave Nebraska a 3-1 halftime lead and marked the most scoring in a first half by the Huskers since Oct. 30, 2005 at Texas Tech. Leading by two, the Huskers were unable to slow down a high-paced game as Texas Tech midfielder Taylor Lytle found the net 35 seconds into the second half before Mehelich scored her second goal of the game in the 56th minute. After a combined six goals in the first 56 minutes of the game, the two teams went scoreless over the last 64 minutes. Morgan Marlborough broke a scoreless game at the 32:28 mark with her nation-leading 16th goal of the season to put herself in a tie with Christine Latham (2002) for the ninth-most single-season goals in school history. The Lee s Summit, Mo., native took a pass from Blair Slapper near the left side of the penalty box and fired a shot past Green Bay goalkeeper Maddie Drusch on the left side of the net to give Nebraska a 1-0 lead. Marlborough s goal also helped the Huskers find some offensive rhythm that led to Michaella Fulmer s third goal of the season just before halftime for a 2-0 advantage at the intermission. Also a native of Lee s Summit, Mo., Fulmer was able to shield off a defender in the penalty box as she received a pass from Jaclyn White and scored from 15 yards out to become the fifth Husker to reach the three-goal plateau this season. Following the break, defender Anna Caniglia cashed in on an offensive opportunity 4 1/2 minutes into the action, as she fielded an overpass on the left side of the net and easily knocked in Nebraska s third goal of the game. Caniglia and defender Carly Peetz both tallied two shots on goal Friday night in each starting their 70th consecutive game. Jessica Mills started in the net for the Huskers, tallying three saves and allowing one goal to improve her season goals-allowed average to 1.17 per contest. Nebraska held OSU to two shots in the first half and a 1-0 lead into halftime that it would not relinquish behind a strong effort in the net from goalkeeper Jesica Mills. The Houston, Texas native played one of the best games of her career to keep a talented Cowgirl squad scoreless for just the third time this season. Oklahoma State nearly broke up Mills shutout with 13 minutes remaining, but a Seira Strawser shot from 15 yards away was snagged by the Husker goalkeeper on the left side of the net for her most notable save of the game. The NU defense aided Mills effort by holding OSU to eight total shots, and was responsible for the Huskers second goal of the afternoon as Carly Peetz and Anna Caniglia teamed up to ensure Nebraska would go home with its first Big 12 win of the season. Just two minutes after Mills diving save, Caniglia took a free kick from 30 yards out near the Husker bench, which Peetz headed into the top-right corner of the net to give Nebraska an important insurance goal en route to its sixth home victory of the year and third shutout in

The draw is the first tie in the 18-game series between Nebraska and Baylor (NU leads, ), while the even score marks the fourth tie in 2009, tying the Nebraska single-season school record (also four in 2007). Powell's goal in the 46th minute was the only one the Huskers could put in the net against a Baylor defense that ranks first in the Big 12 Conference in goals allowed with 0.64 per game and had posted five shutouts coming into the contest. Sophomore forward Molly Thomas contributed heavily to Nebraska's goal, as she outran the Baylor defense down the ride sideline before centering the ball to Powell in the goalie box. The senior from Dallas, Texas then knocked in her fourth goal of the season and more impressively her third goal in the first four Big 12 Conference games. Thomas nearly scored herself in final minutes of the first half, but her sailing shot from the right side of the penalty box toward the far post was saved by a Bear defender one yard in front of the goal line. Junior midfielder Anna White had a quality scoring opportunity as well in the 58th minute when she cleaned up a loose ball in the goalie box and fired a shot through the congestion before it was snagged by Baylor goalkeeper Gianna Quintanna. With the game tied at 1-1 in the 96th minute (1st overtime), Nebraska momentarily thought it had earned its eighth victory of the season, but freshman Jordan Jackson's goal from 12 yards out was waved off due to a Husker foul. Baylor took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when junior forward Lotto Smith headed a ball from Bethany Johnson just past the reach of NU goalkeeper Jessica Mills for the Bears' lone goal of the game. Nebraska outshot its opponent for the 12th time in 13 games this season, taking 25 shots, while the Bears attempted 14. Quintana and Mills ended the game with four saves apiece. Nebraska dominated corner kicks with a 12-3 advantage. Game-by-Game Box Scores Nebraska 5 Oklahoma 2 Sunday, Oct. 11, Lincoln, Neb. The Lee's Summit, Mo., native's three-goal effort increased her nation-leading total to 19, while she became the freshman school record holder for singleseason goals, passing the previous mark of 17 set in 1996 by both Lindsay Eddleman and Isabelle Morneau. Nebraska fell behind 1-0 for the second straight game, but Marlborough led the comeback effort with her first goal on a header from freshman Jordan Jackson to tie the contest in the 18th minute. Six minutes later, Marlborough earned one of her most impressive goals of the season after she was taken down by an OU defender on the right side of the penalty box. Marlborough then recovered to keep control of the possession and dribbled through the Sooner defense before beating OU goalkeeper Kelsey Devonshire with a shot off the far post to give Nebraska a 2-1 halftime lead. Unbeaten when leading at the intermission (8-0-2), the Huskers struck quickly in the final period to ensure that streak would not be broken. Jackson produced her fourth goal of the season just 89 seconds into the second half when she connected on a straight-on shot from 15 yards away to make it a two-goal Nebraska lead (3-1). Nebraska separated itself from Oklahoma with 15 minutes left, when junior Blair Slapper's shot from 35 yards away was saved by Devonshire, but the deflection bounced off the crossbar and landed at Marlborough's feet for her third goal of the game. The hat trick was Marlborough's second of the year, as the freshman also reached the three-goal plateau against Akron on Sept. 13 when she tied the single-game school record with four goals. Only 14 games into her freshman season, Marlborough is one of only seven Huskers in school history to produce multiple hat tricks in a career. Meyers Stadium in Austin, Texas. After falling behind 1-0, senior Julie Berkshire tied the game in the 26th minute resulting from offensive pressure on three consecutive NU corner kicks. Sophomore Blair Slapper made sure Nebraska cashed in on their final opportunity when she sent the corner kick to the far side of the goalie box, where senior Carly Peetz got her foot on the ball before Berkshire calmly knocked in her first goal of the season. Texas took its initial lead in the 16th minute when the Longhorns advanced the ball past midfield and centered a pass to Kylie Doniak. The sophomore midfielder then fired a shot from 30 yards out that found the upper right corner of the goal for a 1-0 UT lead. The game-winner in the 83rd minute came after Doniak's pass got through the NU backline and Higgins fired a shot at Husker goalkeeper Jessica Mills that was saved in front of the goal. Mills was unable to corral the ball, however, and Higgins swept up the rebound for the winning goal. Nebraska 2 #14 Texas A&M 1 Sunday, Oct. 18, Lincoln, Neb. 26 26 In one of the most intensity-filled games of the year, Marlborough's second goal of the day broke a 1-1 tie after Texas A&M had tied the contest on a penalty kick (hand-ball) by Rachel Shipley in the 68th minute. Marlborough answered 14 minutes later, resulting from an intercepted pass by senior Julie Berkshire in front of the midfield line. Berkshire then fed the ball to Marlborough, who dashed through the Texas A&M defense right-to-left and sent in the game-winning goal from 15 yards away on the left side of the penalty box. With the victory, Nebraska has won three of its past four games against top-25 opponents at the Nebraska Soccer Field, while improving its 2009 home record to Marlborough now has seven multiple-goal games this season, as she also connected in the 19th minute to give Nebraska an early 1-0 lead. Caniglia took a free kick from 30 yards out, which was headed by freshman Jordan Jackson before Marlborough swept up the pass on the left side of the net and scored off the crossbar. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Texas A&M turned up its offensive pressure in the second half and outshot Nebraska 13-5 in the final 45 minutes. The Husker defense, however, came up big in crucial situations to hold the Aggies scoreless aside from Shipley's penalty kick with 22 minutes remaining. Texas A&M only had three shots on goal, including a free kick in the 60th minute that nearly found the top of the net, but was deflected over the crossbar by junior goalkeeper Jessica Mills. Nebraska took five shots on net, including a pair from Marlborough that accounted for both of Nebraska's goals. The Lee's Summit, Mo., native has a nation-leading 21 goals to tie for the fourth-most in a single-season in school history. also marked the third time that she has scored multiple goals in a Big 12 game after a pair of goals at Texas Tech on Sept. 27 and a hat trick vs. Oklahoma on Oct. 11. Game-by-Game Box Scores In Nebraska's highest-scoring Big 12 game since 1999, it was only fitting Caniglia began the Husker scoring barrage in the opening minutes. The Omaha, Neb., native earned her first goal of the game in the 10th minute on an impressive 35-yard shot near the corner flag that drifted into the far corner of the net for a 1-0 Nebraska lead. The Huskers did not waste any time striking again, as NU increased its lead to 3-0 on goals by sophomore Molly Thomas (24th minute) and freshman Jordan Jackson (33rd minute), before Kansas' Monica Dolinsky scored on a free kick with 3 minutes remaining in the first half. Still in control, Nebraska was in danger of losing its early advantage when KU's Caitlin Noble scored in the 51st minute to cut the Husker lead to 3-2. Caniglia answered with the most spectacular goal of the season, as she scored on a bicycle kick in the goalie box in the 59th minute to shift the momentum Nebraska's way. Caniglia's impressive play was the first of four second-half Husker goals, as junior Michaella Fulmer and senior Carly Peetz each scored before Caniglia completed the hat trick in the 80th minute. Caniglia had two goals this season before her three-goal explosion against the Jayhawks to mark the 26th hat trick in school history. She finished the day with seven points as she also assisted on Peetz' goal. Jackson and Fulmer scored memorable goals as well, as they were a pair of six Huskers from the Kansas City area playing in front of a big contingent of Nebraska fans. With the victory, the Tigers claimed the Big 12 regular-season championship as they hold a conference record. The Huskers end their two-game road trip with a 1-1 mark after NU defeated Kansas on Oct. 23, 7-4. Nebraska was on par with a talented Tiger squad in nearly every statistical category, but could not slow down a Missouri squad aiming for its first-ever regularseason conference title. The Huskers took 16 shots to Missouri's 18, and were edged in corner kicks, 5-4. After applying strong offensive pressure with five shots in the first 19 minutes, misfortune cost the Huskers on an own goal to give Missouri a 1-0 lead at 19:31. Nebraska looked to hold Missouri scoreless the rest of the half, but the Tigers began to create separation in the 39th minute as Kari Adam centered a pass to Candace Ruff from the short corner, who tapped in Missouri's second goal. Nebraska led Missouri in the first half in shots (8-7) and corner kicks (3-2). The Tigers went on to score three times in the second half, including back-to-back goals by Alysha Bonnick in the 50th and 58th minutes. Missouri has had at least three goals in five Big 12 games this season. Freshmen Morgan Marlborough and Jordan Jackson led the Huskers with five shots each. Nebraska 2 Iowa State 1 Friday, Oct. 30, Lincoln, Neb. Isenhower was one of six Husker seniors playing her last home game and came up with the biggest play of her career, as the win concludes Nebraska's regular season with an record, the best mark by a Husker team since Friday was the fifth overtime game this season for Nebraska, but the first victory after the Huskers had tied the previous four contests. Isenhower's gamewinning goal - her first since she scored twice against Lamar on Sept. 4 - earns Nebraska the No. 4 seed in next week's Big 12 Championship, as NU finished the conference season with a record. The Huskers will wait to hear their opponent on Friday night after the conclusion of the rest of the Big 12 games around the conference. Caniglia increased her team-leading assist total to nine on the play, while Marlborough's contribution gives her 49 points in 2009 (21 goals, 7 assists), the fifth-best single-season total in school history. Nebraska and Iowa State were scoreless through the first half, although the Huskers nearly scored on two shots off the post from Marlborough and senior Carly Peetz. NU finished the game with a advantage in shots, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
