Mizzou is coming off of a victory over Lincoln, which improved the Tigers to 3-0 in exhibition openers under head coach Robin Pingeton. UP NEXT Mizzou will open its regular season on Nov. 9 with a home contest against Saint Louis University. The Tigers will stay in Mizzou Arena until Nov. 22 when the team hits the road for the Cancun Challenge. SCOUTING LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY The Lindenwood Lady Lions are coming off of a record last season after transitioning into Division II basketball. The team returns nine letterwinners and four starters, including last season s leading scorer, Marissa Lehnig who averaged 12.1 points per game. Also returning, Sarah Schneiders who averaged 12 points per game last season and led the team with 56 steals. Tuesday s contest will be Lindenwood s second exhibition match up of the season. Senior Sydney Crafton led the Tigers with what would be a career-high, 28 points. She started the game by making her first 10 field goals, and finished 11-for-12 on the night. Also making a good impression on her first outing was freshman Maddie Stock, who put up double figures for the Tigers. Freshman Lianna Doty saw 22 minutes of playing time and racked up six assists in her first appearance at Mizzou Arena as well. LOOKING AT SAINT LOUIS Mizzou will open the regular season on Friday, when the Saint Louis Billikens come to Mizzou Arena. The Tigers are 17-0 against SLU in program history, with the most recent match up being last season. The Tigers traveled to Chaifetz Arena on Nov. 16 and brought home a victory over the Billikens. Morgan Eye stood out for the Tigers in the win, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc to tally a then-career high 16 points. The Billikens return four starters and nine letterwinners after finishing the season overall. Saint Louis will look to senior guard Courtney Webb and sophomore guard Desirae Ball to provide leadership on the court as they are the team s top returning scorers. Webb averaged 11.4 points per game last season while Ball averaged 9.2. The team welcomes one newcomer in freshman Denisha Womack, who led her high school team in scoring with 17 points per game and was named to the All-Conference first team after her senior season. TIGERS PICKED 13TH IN SEC PRESEASON MEDIA POLL The Southeastern Conference released its preseason media poll on Oct. 23, and Mizzou was chosen to finish 13th in the league. The media predicted Kentucky to win the 2013 SEC basketball championship, as the team returns 10 letterwinners and four starters from last season s NCAA Elite Eight squad. The Tigers will play three games over the course of the tournament, which will take place Nov at the Moon Palace Resort Convention Center. Missouri will play Wichita State at 2:30 p.m. (CT) on Nov. 22 and the Tigers will see Green Bay at 5 p.m. on Nov. 23. The team is set to close the tournament with a 5 p.m. contest against Minnesota on Nov. 24. The complete tournament schedule is listed below, and fans can go to for more information. The tournament, which had been a fourday event featuring 12 teams, will now expand to 14 teams, adding an extra day of competition. The tournament will now begin on Wednesday with two additional games that feature Seeds 11 through 14. Also new to the tournament format will be splitting the early sessions in which the league s top-two seeds play. The tournament s top seed will play its first game in the afternoon session, while the No. 2 seed will play in the evening session. Tickets for the tournament are $90 for a reserved book. A ticket book contains seven tickets, one for each session, which allows one person to attend all 13 games. Tickets can be purchased at or by calling (800) Season tickets MIZZOU HOOPS SEASON TICKETS Season tickets for Missouri Women s Basketball are now on sale through the Mizzou Athletics Ticket Office. Prices for tickets start as low as $25 for Senior/Youth tickets, and fans can purchase adult season tickets for just $50. Family four packs including two adult and two youth tickets can also be purchased for $125 by calling the Mizzou Ticket Office at CAT-PAWS. RETURNERS FILL BIG SHOES The Tigers return seven players from last season s squad, which recorded one of the best starts in program history after beginning the season Senior Sydney Crafton brings the most experience to the squad as she has three years of collegiate basketball experience under her belt. Of the 13 players on Mizzou s team, 12 have one year or less of collegiate basketball experience. Despite their youth, the Tigers showed strength and skill on the court at the Mizzou Madness exhibition event. The Tigers should prove to be a challenge this season. EYE ON THE PRIZE Sophomore Morgan Eye returns as the Tigers leading scorer this season. Eye averaged 8.1 minutes per game last season, behind then-seniors Christine Flores and BreAnna Brock. Eye also leads the team in three-point shooting as she averaged 35.6 percent from behind the arc last season. SIMMONS LENDS A HAND Sophomore Kyley Simmons returns as last season s assists leader. She tallied a total of 111 assists last year, which is over 30 more than Senior Christine Flores who recorded the second-most assists on the season with 72. In addition to her unselfish ways, Simmons quick and confident syle of play makes her one of the Tigers to watch this season. OFF TO A STRONG START Last season s Tiger team saw one of the best starts in program history. Mizzou started out with a 10-1 record, the program s best start since the season when Mizzou began the year Under Pingeton s direction, the Tigers went undefeated through the first five games for the first time since Not only that, but with Pingeton s coaching, senior Christine Flores became the first Tiger to record a triple-double since Flores set several new records at Mizzou for the most blocks in her career and in a single season before being drafted to the WNBA.
