EXPLANATION OF TERMS 1.1 The word he has been used to represent both sexes. 1.2 The Association means Basketball Geelong. 1.3 Stadium means any venue where games are controlled by Basketball Geelong. 2.0 INTERPRETATION OF RULES 3.0 LAWS 2.1 The Competition Manager of Basketball Geelong shall determine the interpretation of the BG By-Laws, which will be enforced by the Customer Service Officers, Referee Supervisors and Referees where appropriate. 2.2 The Basketball Geelong Competition Manager has the right to rule on matters not specifically covered in the Bylaws in the best interest of Basketball and Basketball Geelong. 3.1 The Laws of Basketball Geelong shall be those adopted from time to time by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) or as modified by Basketball Australia or Basketball Victoria with the following bylaws being substituted wherever necessary. The Board of BG reserves the right to alter and amend its By-Laws as it sees fit for the benefit of BG and its competitions in consultation with Club Delegates and prior to the start of a new season. 4.0 CLUB OFFICIALS RECOGNISED BY BASKETBALL GEELONG 4.1 Only two nominated officials from each club will be recognised by Basketball Geelong. All official Basketball Geelong matters will be dealt with through one or both of those officials or a nominated proxy if both are unable to fulfill duties. Clubs are to provide the Competition Manager with a current list of contacts at the beginning of each season. See Appendix 1 for current listings. Club Delegates must hold a current Basketball Geelong membership and comply with Working with Children checks. 4.2 In social leagues the team official is the team contact as nominated on the Team Entry Form. 5.0 TEAM ENTRIES 5.1 Will be accepted from Member Clubs in all club based leagues. Individual Team Entry will be accepted in social leagues. 5.2 New clubs entering the competition must have at least four (4) teams, and be represented by both male and female teams to be accepted into the competition. Clubs need to provide the Competition Manager with a copy of their constitution, list of office bearers, incorporated status and show how they will promote participation and growth within their club and the Basketball Geelong. 5.3 Each new club shall pay to Basketball Geelong a guarantee fee of $500. This fee will act as a safeguard against clubs who fail to pay accounts during the season. If all accounts are paid, the guarantee will carry over from season to season. The guarantee fee will be refunded to clubs if they withdraw from the Association provided all accounts are paid in full. 5.4 Teams shall be entered by: completion of the electronic, online entry form payment of the prescribed fee

4 5.4.3 lodging the electronic, online entry form with Basketball Geelong by the due date. 5.5 The Association reserves the right to grade teams into such divisions as are necessary, taking into account the number of entries in a division, the number of byes created on a given competition day, the relative strength of teams, the number of teams that one club has in a division and the past performance of a team in a division. Clubs will have the right of appeal, particularly if the change of grade results in a change of night of play. 5.6 Clubs causing alterations to the draw for any competition after it has been completed will be fined in accordance with the schedule of fees at Appendix Clubs competing must submit a team list for each team in all divisions entered each season by the nominated date. A minimum of five (5) players must be named on each team list. 5.8 A Club shall be considered disbanded when it has not taken part in Basketball Geelong matches for twelve (12) months or when notification of disbanding has been given by the delegated officer of said Club, in writing, to the Competition Manager. 6.0 AMALGAMATIONS 6.1 Where a player s Club amalgamates with another Club, the player shall automatically become a member of the combined club. 6.2 No club with outstanding accounts will be allowed to amalgamate. 7.0 PLAYER REGISTRATION / ELIGIBILITY 7.1 All players must pay an annual membership fee with Basketball Geelong and complete the required form and make payment online. 7.2 Players registered with another Basketball Victoria Country affiliated association will, on production of proof of registration, only be charged the current Basketball Geelong Secondary membership fee. 7.3 Registrations of junior players must be accompanied by proof of age, either with a birth certificate, extract of birth or passport. A parent or guardian must sign the junior registration form. 7.4 All players must pay the prescribed membership fee before their first game of the new registration period. All new players must pay the prescribed membership fee before their first game. 7.5 To be eligible to play in any Basketball Geelong final, a junior representative player must compete (i.e. Be on the bench in uniform and pay for the game) in at least half of the scheduled rounds in the fixture pertaining to their age level. In the case of the number of rounds not being divisible by two, the next higher number divisible by two will be the required number of matches (e.g. The required number of matches for 19 scheduled rounds would be 10). Byes do not count as scheduled rounds. For clarity if a player competes in multiple divisions within their age level in a round only one of the scheduled games will be counted towards eligibility. 7.6 To be eligible to play in a Basketball Geelong final of particular division, a player must compete (i.e. Be on the bench in uniform and pay for the game) in at least one half of the scheduled rounds in the fixture of that division. In the case of the number of rounds not being divisible by two, the next higher number divisible by two will be the required number of matches (e.g. The required number of matches for 19 scheduled rounds would be 10). Byes do not count as schedule rounds. 7.7 Byes do not count as a qualifying game. 2

5 7.8 In the event of a notified walkover, all players named on the score sheet of the non forfeiting team in either their previous match, or their following match, shall be marked in play" for the purpose of finals eligibility. 7.9 In the event of an un-notified walkover all players of the team receiving the walkover who are present and named on the score sheet will be marked in play" for the purposes of finals eligibility. A refund of playing fees will be given on presentation of tickets to the Customer Service Officer on the day/night of the walkover A senior player registered in any particular division, upon playing the number of games or more required to qualify in a particular higher division final series, shall be deemed to be a player of such higher division. If a junior player plays more than the qualified games in a higher division within their age level, that player is no longer eligible to play in the lower divisions Clubs have the opportunity to play players who have not qualified in a particular final as a replacement player under the following circumstances; The replacement player must have qualified for the club for finals in another age group or division. They must be replacing a player who has qualified for finals who is unavailable to play. A player is only eligible to play in the same grade they have qualified in or higher regardless of the age group. If a replacement player does not meet the above criteria, the club may then apply for an exemption. Applications for exemption must be made in writing to Basketball Geelong from the club delegate, addressing the above three points a minimum of seven(7) days prior to the first day of finals Exemptions (Final Qualification) Basketball Geelong may consider granting special consideration for finals eligibility in exceptional circumstances to players impacted by long term injury. Application for exemption must be submitted in writing to the Competitions Committee with medical certificates required as accompanying documentation with the letter requesting special consideration for exemption to finals qualification. The medical certificate may be accepted as evidence of the injury/illness. For any exemption to be considered the following criteria must be adhered to: The player must have a long term injury (six weeks or more) The player must be competing in the competition regularly before the injury The application and medical certificate must be submitted a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the first day of finals Each application will be considered on a case by case basis only. Basketball Geelong does not guarantee it will approve any requests for exemption to the eligibility criteria and all steps to qualify must be taken Any junior who is aged under 15 years must have an indemnity form signed by their parent/guardian allowing them to play in senior competition. This must be submitted to Basketball Geelong prior to playing their first game Clubs having more than one team in any one division may transfer players only once between teams during any season A Basketball Geelong Intra-Club Transfer form must be completed in full and receipted by a Customer Service Officer prior to playing in the new team. 3

6 Players transferring must attain qualification with new team to be eligible for finals Junior players competing in under age competitions must be under the age requirement of the division as at December 31 of each year. See Appendix 2 for list of cut off dates for competitions players must adhere to the Player Points Valuation System (Juniors) and/or D1 Point Score System. Player s that do not adhere to the policy are ineligible. 8.0 INELIGIBLE PLAYERS 8.1 Any team found to have played an ineligible player shall forfeit all matches in which the player participated. 8.2 Only the ineligible player will not be credited for finals. 8.3 Clubs will be notified in writing if an ineligible player has played for a club/team 8.4 Clubs, after being notified of playing an ineligible player, may be fined if they continue to play the ineligible player. 8.5 A player will be deemed ineligible if any of his given name (or initial), surname or number is not written legibly and accurately on the score sheet. 8.6 Players must notify Basketball Geelong if they change their name. Notification must be given before using their new name on the score sheet, otherwise the player will be deemed to be ineligible. 9.0 UNIFORMS 9.1 A club must apply for registration of the colour and design of its uniforms. 9.2 The club with the longer record of participation in competitions conducted by Basketball Geelong shall have priority over a club with a shorter record. The lower priority team shall be obliged to change singlets when playing a team of the same or similar colours. Refer Appendix 3 for Colour Priority List 9.3 Clubs retaining their original colours will have precedence over clubs that have changed colours. See Appendix 3 for Colour Priority List. 9.4 It is the responsibility of each club to ensure that its teams have alternative uniforms available as required. 9.5 A change of shorts is not regarded as a change of uniform. 9.6 Any team which fails to wear an alternative uniform when directed by a Basketball Geelong Staff Member shall forfeit the match. 9.7 A player may be permitted to take part in any match with shorts of an incorrect colour at a cost of five (5) points which will be awarded to the captain of the opposing team. The Club will be notified if the player continues to be out of uniform. In case of flagrant breach the Club will be charged a penalty. Referees will record the name and number of the offending player on the back of the score sheet. 9.8 T-shirts worn underneath playing singlets must be the same colour as the predominant colour of the playing singlet. 9.9 A player may not take the court in any match with an incorrect playing singlet Singlets must bear legal numbers that are sublimated or of cloth, plastic, or other acceptable fabric and permanently attached. Chalked, taped, or inked numbers will not be permitted. 4

7 9.11 Legal numbers: 1-15; 20-25; 30-35; 40-45; Faded or damaged playing singlet and/or shorts must be replaced once the club has been notified in writing GAME REGULATIONS 10.1 Match balls and a warm up ball will be provided by Basketball Geelong. Other basketballs (or any sports ball) are not be permitted in the stadium A minimum of five (5) players per team are required for Senior Division 1 before a game may commence For other divisions a team may take the court with four (4) players Players names and numbers may be entered on the scoresheet at any time during the first half of the game but must be entered before the player takes the court. The coach s name must also be entered on the score sheet in the appropriate area A penalty of two (2) points for each minute or part thereof a team is late in being ready to commence a game will be awarded to the captain of the opposing team. Scorers must record start time of game for penalty purposes Referees shall note all penalty points on the scoresheet at half time ie. Late start, incorrect shorts. Penalties that are incurred after half time must be noted when they occur In the event of a team not being ready to play ten (10) minutes after the appointed time, a walkover will be awarded to the opposing team with a score of A club that has a team giving three (3) walkovers in any one season will be contacted by Basketball Geelong to discuss the possible withdrawal of that team from the competition Drawn games during the regular season will be recognised Premiership points will be allocated as follows: Win 3 points Draw 2 points Loss 1 point Forfeit 0 points Walkover 0 points Byes 3 points If two teams are equal on premiership points on the ladder at the end of the regular season, the result(s) of the game(s) between the two teams involved will be used to determine the placings If more than two teams are equal on the ladder at the end of the regular season, a second classification will be established taking into account only the results of the games between the teams that are tied If a game is abandoned as a result of the referee deeming a team s conduct warrants a cancellation, the following shall occur; If the team responsible for such actions is currently leading on points, the opposing team will be awarded three (3) premiership points and a score of 20-0 shall be recorded for percentage purposes. The team responsible for the forfeit shall receive zero (0) premiership points. 5

8 If the team responsible for such actions is currently trailing on points, the winning team s score at that time shall stand and the team will be awarded three (3) premiership points. The team responsible for the forfeit shall receive zero (0) premiership points The referee must report the team at fault Misconduct In all junior divisions, the Basketball Victoria Sin Bin Policy will apply. That is a player technical foul will be penalised in the normal manner with the added penalty of the player being disqualified from the court for a period of five (5) playing minutes. The scorer will record the time the penalty was imposed on the scoresheet and advise the player's coach when the player is able to return to the court. Junior Players who receive two (2) technical fouls in a game will be disqualified Junior Development Rules Basketball Geelong has introduced a number of rules to the junior division to assist in the well-rounded development of all players. See Appendix 4 for full listing of junior development rules Scoretable Representatives Each team must provide a competent person for the scoretable. Both scoretable officials must complete the scoresheet before handing score sheet to referee to sign off Scorer s/timekeeper s name and club must be entered on scoresheet and both must sign sheet at end of game The twenty four (24) second clock will operate in Division 1 Senior Games in the Championship Season only In games played with a 24 second clock, the scoretable will be manned by three scorers, two of whom will represent the first named team on the score sheet, and one of these scorers will operate the 24 second clock No participating player or coach is permitted to score For games starting at 10pm or later a player/coach may score without penalty Where only one scorer is available, the game shall start on time, and the offending team fined. A notation will be made on the scoresheet and signed by the referee. (includes 24 second clock operator for Division 1 Senior games) If neither team supplies a scorer, the clock shall be started on time and after the expiration of ten (10) minutes, if no scorer is provided, both teams shall forfeit the game Cancellation Of Games Where games are cancelled due to extenuating circumstances, e.g. Power failure, etc. The complete round will be cancelled if all teams in that division are affected. However, if not all teams in the division are affected, those who have had their games cancelled, will be awarded two (2) premiership points each and the bye team will be awarded three (3) premiership points. All players registered at that date will be deemed to have played the game and will be awarded a game towards finals eligibility. After half time the game result stands By-Law amendments Basketball Geelong may amend these bylaws from time to time to facilitate the running of the competition. This should preferably be at the beginning of the season but may 6

9 occur at any time with clubs being notified accordingly. ByLaw changes will occur in consultation with the Club Delegates. 7

10 11.0 TIMING REGULATIONS 50 MINUTE GAME SCHEDULE Warm up period: Minimum three (3) minutes Period: Two (2) x Twenty (20) minute halves. Half time: Two (2) minutes Time Outs: Two (2) per team per half Clock stops on: Each whistle during the last three (3) minutes of the game. Time outs are not permitted in the last one (1) minute of the first half. 75 MINUTE GAME SCHEDULE Division One Senior Games (Championship Season) Warm up period: Minimum five (5) minutes Quarters: 4 x 10minutes Quarter Time: 1 minute Half time: Three (3) minutes. Time Outs: Two (2) time outs in the first half and Three (3) in the second half The clock stops on all fouls, time outs and substitutions The twenty four (24) second clock will operate. Clubs will be rostered to supply operators for the twenty four second clock (see point 9.4.4). FINALS - ALL SECTIONS EXCEPT DIVISION ONE. 60 MINUTE GAME SCHEDULE Warm up period: Minimum five (5) minutes Period: Two (2) x Twenty (20) minute halves Half time: Three (3) minutes. Time Outs: Two (2) per team per half Clock stops on: Time outs Disqualifying fouls Each whistle during the last one (1) minute of first half. Each whistle during the last three (3) minutes of the game Extra Time: Three (3) minutes and One Timeout per team per extra period DIVISION ONE FINALS (Championship Season) As per regular season timing rules. OVERTIME (IF REQUIRED) Division One Senior Games Extra Time: Five (5) minutes Time Outs: One (1) per team 8

11 12.0 CLEARANCES 12.1 Application for a clearance must be completed on the prescribed form in duplicate. Full reasons for seeking a clearance must be stated on the form or an attached document Clearance applications from junior players must also be signed by a parent or guardian The player shall ensure the clearance and duplicate forms are received by the delegate of the club they intend to be cleared to and have the form signed to verify there will be a position at that club for them The player shall then ensure the clearance and duplicate forms are received by the delegate of the club with whom they are registered, have both copies dated and signed, retain the original and give the duplicate to the person signing for receipt of the clearance. If both the club delegates are unavailable, a designated club committee member must be named The Clearance period opens at the conclusion of the summer or winter seasons Players who have played in the last two seasons at Basketball Geelong must submit their clearance to the clearing club prior to the first game of the season, this does not refer to the first game of that division but rather 5pm on the first day of the new season. No clearances will be accepted after that date until the conclusion of the season Player who have a PPVS rating are only eligible to clear once a year, within the designated time frame (see 12.6) but only between the Summer and Winter seasons Players who have not played in the last two seasons at Basketball Geelong are able to submit their clearance to the clearing club at any stage during the season The clearance must be heard by the club and returned to the player within fourteen (14) days of the date of receipt otherwise the clearance is automatically granted The player must be invited to attend the clearance hearing to be interviewed by the club The President or Secretary (or designated Club Committee Member) must acknowledge and sign the player s (original) copy of the clearance form stating the decision of the hearing and the reasons for such decision The signed clearance must then be returned to the player In the event of the player not being available, the clearance may be returned to the Basketball Geelong office The player must lodge the completed clearance with Basketball Geelong and have it approved prior to playing with the new club It is the player s responsibility to follow the clearance through from start to finish Players are tied to the club with which they are registered for a period of two (2) clear years from the date of the last game they played with that club Players are still required to submit a clearance, however it will be automatically approved by Basketball Geelong The last game date is that which is recorded by Basketball Geelong Players are eligible for an automatic clearance if the club has been disbanded for 12 months, however a clearance form is still required to be submitted to Basketball Geelong Players who do not adhere to the Player Points Valuation System (Juniors) and/or D1 Point Score System are not eligible to apply for a clearance. 9

12 13.0 APPEALS 13.1 A player refused a clearance may appeal in writing to Basketball Geelong within seven (7) days of such refusal and provide a copy of the completed clearance form If the application is refused, full reasons for such refusal must be stated on the form or attached too. If the applicant is unfinancial, the details of the arrears must also be stated Accepted appeals should be heard within fourteen (14) days of receipt Only those reasons for wanting a clearance stated on the original clearance form can be considered at any subsequent appeal. A player seeking a clearance may expand on his reasons for seeking a clearance by attaching a document to the original clearance application No appeal will be heard by Basketball Geelong unless the applicant has discharged all financial obligations to their club Upon receipt of such written appeal, Basketball Geelong shall record same and notify the following parties of the date and time the appeal will be heard the club which refused the clearance the club to which the player wishes to be cleared the player concerned One representative of each club may attend the appeal hearing to speak on the matter as well as the player involved. A parent or guardian may attend with a junior player Relevant information will be provided to all parties prior to the appeal meeting Clubs will be notified of appeal decisions within seven (7) days of the date of the appeal hearing. Only one appeal hearing will be heard Any player, having exhausted every avenue to obtain a clearance, and who has had an appeal dismissed, will be cleared automatically after one (1) calendar year from the date of lodgement of a statement in writing to Basketball Geelong that they intend to stand out of all basketball under the control of Basketball Geelong During that period that person will not be permitted to apply for another clearance unless their club is willing to clear them within that twelve (12) month period Basketball Geelong will only hear one (1) appeal DISPUTES/APPEALS COMMITTEE 14.1 All disputes and appeals of any decisions are to be presented in writing from a Club Delegate to Basketball Geelong within seven (7) days Disputes and appeals shall be resolved by the Disputes by the Basketball Geelong Board or their delegated authority within fourteen (14) days, 14.3 The resolutions of the Basketball Geelong Board or their delegated authority shall be reported to the relevant clubs within seven (7) days PERMITS 15.1 A player may be granted a permit to play with another club providing their club does not have a team competing in the same junior or senior division. Except in Division One (1) where players will be granted a permit to a club even if their club has a team in that competition. 10

13 15.2 An underage player granted a permit may only represent one senior club and one junior club. A senior player may only represent one club Permits must be renewed each and every season A player is only able to be permitted to another club for a maximum of two (2) seasons AWARDS 16.1 Championship Season A perpetual trophy entitled The Geoff Smith Shield will be presented annually to the most successful club during the Championship Season. For each win, points will be awarded as follows: Seniors Division One 10 points Juniors ( A Grade only) 6 points The club gaining the highest number of points up to the end of the regular season shall be declared the winner In the case of a club having more than one team in any division, points will only be awarded for the team finishing highest on the ladder Best Player Awards The Best Player in Division One Men shall be awarded the Ted Smith trophy The Best Player in Division One Women shall be awarded the Jack Terrill trophy The above Best Player awards will be made in accordance with votes cast by each coach of each game of the Championship Season on a basis RIGHT OF ENTRY / CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICERS 17.1 Basketball Geelong reserves the right to refuse admission to, and eject from the Stadium any person at any time It is the duty of each player, referee, official and spectator to obey the directions given by Basketball Geelong official appointed to take charge of the stadium All players, referees, officials and spectators are required to adhere to the Codes of Conduct as displayed in the stadium The Board of Management may discipline any person who is proved guilty of any breach of good conduct in any stadium controlled by Basketball Geelong FINES 18.1 Basketball Geelong Board reserves the right to set fines for offences against these bylaws. See appendix 9 for current fines OBLIGATIONS OF CLUBS 19.1 It is the obligation of each club to provide a representative at official Basketball Geelong meetings It is the obligation of each club to nominate a suitable person to sit on a Basketball Geelong appointed subcommittee when required. 11

16 APPENDIX 4: JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT RULES THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO U10 S B-GRADE AND C-GRADE HEIGHT OF THE RING The ring will be lowered for games. DEFENCE All teams must play half-court defence. If a player or team breaches this rule a violation will be called. THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO U10 S ALL GRADES HEIGHT OF THE RING The ring will be lowered for U10 Girls games. HALF TIME SHOTS Every player must attempt at least 1 free throw shot with the team attempting 10 shots. In the event that teams have less than 10 players, the coach selects the appropriate number of players to take a second shot. SCORING A player can only score 6 points per half. A maximum of 12 points for the game, 13 points allowed if a player with 11 points scores a field goal or 2 free throws. THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO U12 S B-GRADE AND C-GRADE ONLY SCORING A player can only score 10 points per half. Once a player has reached their maximum allotment and is fouled resulting in free throws, the coach nominates another player to take the shots. The result of a player who scores after reaching their maximum allotment is : The score does not count and treated as a violation and taken from the end line. When all players on the team have scored their maximum allotment they regain the ability to score with no restriction on how many points an individual can score for the rest of the half. 17 A restriction to a team s defence only occurs from the centreline, where teams must apply Man to Man principles. Please note for U16 and U18 No restrictions on defence with the exception that if a team has a 30 point or more lead is not permitted to extend its defence beyond half-court. EXCEPTIONS If the opposing team has less players (4 vs 5) / (3 vs 4). In this case a team has no restrictions as to how they play defence. In this scenario, if a team has a 30 point lead that team must then defend Man to Man from half court. Interpretation Of Team Responsibilities Definition - Illegal Zone: "Any defence played in the half court which incorporates any player consistently guarding an area of the court and not guarding a specific opponent." Beware of Static Offences. There may be occasions when a team employs an offence which is devoid of cuts apart from perhaps V- cuts to enable players to get open and as a result the defence may appear to be in a zone. For instance, it is quite feasible that a coach may employ a 4 out, 1 in set : Keeping his post man static on one block (looking to seal as the ball is reversed) Perimeter players remaining in areas (focussing on looking for opportunities from ball reversal to set up their man and rely on dribble penetration to create scoring opportunities. As a consequence of the offensive set the defence may well look similar to a two-three zone. In coming to a conclusion on the style of defence being played it is therefore important to include in the evaluation the style of offence being employed. The benefit of any doubt must go to the defence. Trapping out of Man to Man may require brief zoning principles on rotation. Take the example of the offensive set previously described and add the player on the wing weak-side beating his man on the perimeter and penetrating baseline side. The team on defence if looking to trap outside the three second area may well Have the post defender leave his man and trap or double team with the dribbler's opponent. Rotate the defender from the other side of the floor at the top of the key to the split line on or near the baseline. Have the ball side defender at the top of the key 'zone' the two offensive players at the top of the key. This is a legitimate man to man strategy, which should under no circumstances be confused with illegal zones. BUT When a pass is made out of the trap or double team, a rotation of all players back to a single opponent must take place. The benefit of any doubt must go to the defence. Switching on Screens or Pass, Cut and Replace. Should a team as a part of their man to man defensive strategy employ a switching technique when defending screens, this is to be considered a legitimate tactic. 15

18 When employing a switching technique against block to block cross screens (as may occur frequently against passing game) it may well appear that the defenders involved are guarding an area. This tactic is NOT deemed to be illegal. Similarly when guarding screens in other situations, or guarding a pass, cut and replace action, defenders when switching may well appear momentarily to be guarding an area. This tactic is legitimate and NOT to be deemed illegal. NOTE: The success of the No Zone rests entirely with the coaches. PENALTY Clubs who are believed to be breaching this rule must be reported to Basketball Geelong in writing through a club delegate. This matter will then be investigated by Basketball Geelong. If a club is found to be in breach of this rule, they will be first counselled. If a club continues to breach this rule Basketball Geelong will issue further penalties. 16

19 APPENDIX 5: SOCIAL LEAGUES THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO SOCIAL MIXED COMPETITION The Basketball Geelong ByLaws are written for the club competition, however many of the rules are still applicable with only slight variation for social competition. Where appropriate replace club with the word team. UNIFORMS a. A team must register the colour and design of uniform with team entry b. If two teams are wearing the same or similar colour of uniform in a game, Team A must wear alternate singlets. c. If a team requires an alternate set of singlets then they can hire a set of singlets from Basketball Geelong, adhering to the terms and conditions of hire. GAME REGULATIONS d. A size 7 Basketball will be used for all games. e. There are designated areas on the basketball court that are restricted to one gender only. Females will only be allowed in the key closest to the stadium entry, males will only be allowed access to the key at the opposite end. f. A minimum of four (4) players per team are required for before a game may commence. g. Teams are able to field a maximum of three (3) players from one gender, when there are five (5) players on the court the ratio must be 3:2, with three (3) referring to either male or female. If a team has only four (4) players on the court, then a team must field at least one (1) male or one (1) female as the ratio can be either 2:2 or 3:1. h. Misconduct In all social leagues, the Basketball Victoria Sin Bin Policy will apply. That is a player technical foul will be penalised in the normal manner with the added penalty of the player being disqualified from the court for a period of five (5) playing minutes. The scorer will record the time the penalty was imposed on the score sheet and advise the player's coach when the player is able to return to the court. Players who receive two (2) technical fouls in a game will be disqualified. i. Scoretable Representatives Each team must supply a person to fulfil the role of scoretable official, in social leagues this can be a player. If a team only has five (5) players and no one to score then they must take the court with four (4) players, with one player scoring. Teams that fail to supply a scorer after being directed to do so will forfeit the match. j. Teams that give a walkover will be fined see appendix 6: Fines. Fines must be paid prior to their next scheduled games. Teams will forfeit subsequent matched until their fines are paid. SCORING k. A player can only score a maximum of 10 points per game. Unless every player in their team has scored the maximum of 10 points. At this time, players are then allowed to score an additional 10 points. The following exception applies; a. A player is able to score 11 or 12 points if, they are on 8 or 9 points and then score a field goal. l. A player with 10 points being awarded free throws must nominate another player to take them. 17
