2005-06 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS Texas A&M made its fi rst appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1996. It was the school s third-ever appearance next to its 1994 and 1996 berths.

4 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS Texas A&M made its fi rst appearance in the NCAA Tournament since It was the school s third-ever appearance next to its 1994 and 1996 berths. The Aggies also recorded their fi rst 20-win season since The Aggies were seeded a program-best No. 6 in the Cleveland Regional of the NCAA Tournament. The program tallied its most wins overall since 1994 (23-9) and its 11 Big 12 Conference victories matched the most in conference play ever (including the Southwest Conference). Its 23 victories marked the third-most in school history. A&M led the Big 12 in scoring defense (57.5 points allowed per game), total steals (353) and turnover margin (+7.78). The Aggies held 11-of-16 league opponents to double-digits below their normal scoring output. They were ranked in The Associated Press Top 25 Poll for the fi nal six weeks of the season, their fi rst appearance in the national polls since March 11, The Aggies broke a stretch of 275 games without a ranking. A&M recorded double-digit victories in 10 of its 16 Big 12 games of the season. In its 11 league wins, the Aggies outscored their opponent by an average of 17 points per game. The Aggies ranked among the top four teams in scoring offense (69.6 points per game) and scoring defense in the Big 12. Texas A&M won 10-straight games during the season, the second-longest streak in school history. The longest streak was 11 set back in , the fi rst varsity season for the Aggies. The Aggies went an undefeated 8-0 in non-conference play at Reed Arena. It marked the second-straight season for the Aggies to post an unbeaten non-conference record at the venue. A&M won 16 of its last 18 games at Reed Arena, which included a 13-game win streak, the second-longest home winning streak including games at G. Rollie White Coliseum. A&M won 17 games from January 1994 to January The Aggies won fi ve league games on the road. Previously, A&M had not won more than two road games in the Big 12 in a single season. A&M received a fi rst-round bye in the Big 12 Women s Basketball Championship receiving the No. 3 seed. After beating Nebraska in the quarterfi nals, the Aggies reached the semifi nals for the fi rst time ever in the 10-year history of the league. Seventy-three percent of last year s roster was comprised of players in their fi rst or second year with the program. Freshmen and sophomores accounted for 75 percent of the Aggies scoring during the season. For the sixth-straight season, the Aggies led the Big 12 Conference in steals per game (11.0). Texas A&M forced more turnovers than they committed in all but four games (Baylor twice, Oklahoma State and Nebraska). The Aggies win over Kansas State (66-39) at Reed Arena was the largest margin of victory in a Big 12 game for the Aggies and the fewest points allowed by the Aggies in a conference game ever. K-State was receiving votes in the top 25 polls at the time of the game. A&M s win over Texas Tech (65-48) at Reed Arena matched the Aggies largest margin of victory in the series with the Lady Raiders set back in The win snapped a 19-game win streak in the series vs. Tech. A&M beat Texas in Austin (73-53) for the fi rst time since It was the largest margin of victory for A&M in Austin. It ended a 31-game home Big 12 winning steak by Texas. It marked head coach Gary Blair s fi rst win over Texas and its coach Jody Conradt in seven all-time meetings. A&M won three games, including two on the road during a crucial seven-day stretch in early February (Texas Tech, at Texas and at Nebraska). A school-record 11,088 fans were attendance for A&M s game against Baylor on Feb. 15, 2006, at Reed Arena. The attendance nearly doubled the previous school single-game record of 5,565. The Aggies swept the regular-season series versus rival Texas with a home victory on Feb. 22, 2006, for the fi rst time since A&M s win at UNLV (73-48) on Dec. 18, 2005, was arguably the most impressive non-conference road win in more than 15 years. The Aggies blocked 14 shots against Texas Tech at Reed Arena on Feb. 5, 2006, which marked the most in a single game by A&M. Texas A&M saw an increase in home attendance of 16 percent from the previous year with a school-best single-season average of 3,598 fans per game in MORENIKE ATUNRASE
