The Aggies face second-seeded Notre Dame (31-7) at 7:30 p.m. (CT) on ESPN. A&M extended its historical season and is now one win away from its first national championship after rallying from a 10-point deficit in the final six minutes of the national semifinal to defeat top-seeded Stanford, Junior Tyra White scored 18 points, a career best in NCAA Tournament games, to lead the Aggies and All-American Danielle Adams had 16 to help A&M snap the Cardinal s 27-game winning streak. The Aggies are 0-1 all-time against Notre Dame. TWO NUMBER TWOS For the first time in the history of the NCAA Division I Championship two No. 2 seeds will meet in the championship game. It marks only the second time that there was not a No. 1 seed in the championship game. The other time was in 1994 when third-seeded North Carolina played fourth-seeded Louisiana Tech for the title. What is more is that for the first time in the history of the tournament both championship final teams downed a pair of No. 1 seeds to reach the title match. A&M defeated top seeds Baylor (58-46) and Stanford (63-62), while Notre Dame upset No. 1 seeds Tennessee (73-59) and Connecticut (72-63). FOURTH TIME S A CHARM In order to advance to the national title game both teams defeated an opponent that it had lost to three times previous to the NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M was 0-3 this season against Baylor before downing the No. 1 seed in the regional final to advance to its first Final Four, while Notre Dame had dropped three contests to Connecticut before being victorious over the two-time defending national champion Connecticut in the national semifinal. ON THE TUBE Texas A&M will appear on the ESPN family of networks for the ninth time this season. Playby-play announcer Dave O Brien, analyst Doris Burke and sideline reporters Rebecca Lobo and Holly Rowe will call the Final Four action live from Conseco Fieldhouse.
