13 WIAA Girls Basketball History The WIAA began a girls basketball tournament in The first champions were Madison West in Class A, Lancaster in Class B and Marshall in Class C, with Neenah, Clinton and Bloomington runners-up. The tournament followed a three-class format until when a four-division format was adopted. After a two-year experimental period, the division format became permanent in In 2011, a fifth division was added and restructuring of the divisions qualified four teams in each division. Cuba City has been to the State Tournament more than any other school with 13 appearances. Janesville Parker is next on that list with 12. Durand, Fall Creek, Milwaukee Washington and Oostburg are next with 10 State Tournaments. Newman Catholic and Prentice have made nine trips to State. Kimberly, Middleton, Monroe, Owen-Withee, Arrowhead and Watertown have made eight appearances. Barneveld, Flambeau, Hudson, Merrill, Neenah, Oshkosh West, Portage and West Allis Hale are next with seven. Those with six appearances include Amherst, De Pere, Eau Claire Memorial, Fond du Lac, Hartford Union, Kettle Moraine and Madison West. Cuba City leads in the number of State titles won with nine, followed by Milwaukee Washington with five. Barneveld, Fall Creek, Flambeau, and Kimberly have four; and De Pere, Janesville Parker, Luxemburg- Casco, Milwaukee Vincent, Monroe, Newman Catholic, Oostburg and Prentice are next with three. Algoma, Amherst, Arrowhead, Columbus, Durand, Grafton, Hudson, Lancaster, Madison West, Marshall, McFarland, New London, North Fond du Lac, Oshkosh West, Pecatonica and Regis all have won two. Cuba City ( ), Flambeau ( ), Milwaukee Vincent ( ) and Milwaukee Washington ( ) are the only schools with three consecutive State championships. Barneveld ( ), Columbus ( ), Cuba City ( ), Durand ( ), Fall Creek ( ), Janesville Parker ( ), Marshall ( ), New London ( ), Oshkosh West ( ) and Pecatonica ( ) have won back-to-back championships.
