The Herd will host the Owls on Friday at 7 p.m. for Social Media Night, which includes a pregame barbeque tailgate. On Sunday, the match at 1 p.m. against the Golden Panthers will be dubbed #ChristianStrong, dedicated to Christian Walroth. In addition to live tweets live stats and live streaming will be available through HerdZone. com. HAVE YOU HERD? Three players found the net as the Thundering Herd topped Conference USA leader Middle Tennessee, 3-2, on Sunday at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium. It was the Blue Raiders first home loss and first C-USA loss this season. Jordan Parkhurst (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored s fastest goal of the season at 1:58. Tennessee native Ashley Seltzer (Knoxville) followed in the 32nd minute, and Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio) was credited with the gamewinner at 48:51. SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS Senior Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) took six shots on Sunday at Middle Tennessee, giving her 210 for her career and breaking the all-time school record of 208 set by Angela DeSumma ( ). HOME SWEET HOME Entering this weekend, the Herd is at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex, and has allowed only three goals at home this season. s last goal allowed on Hoops Family Field was during a 5-1 rout of Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 7. PREGAME BARBEQUE & SOCIAL MEDIA NIGHT The first 200 fans to show their ticket to Friday s match against Florida Atlantic will receive access to a pregame barbeque catered by Buddy s. The tailgate will be located in the Kroger parking lot across the street from the complex, starting at 5:45 p.m. Additionally, the match will feature trivia and other contests conducted on Twitter. The Walroth family will be selling shirts at the match and there will be opportunities for fans to donate to the group s GoFundMe page. Fans who donate before the end of halftime will receive a #BeHerd Soccer shirt. HOT STREAK s 12-match unbeaten streak (9-0-3) from Aug. 23 to Oct. 9 is the longest in program history. As of Oct. 7, it was the longest active streak in the nation, tied with then-no. 1 North Carolina (11-0-1). REPEAT DEFENDER On Oct. 5, senior Jenna Dubs (Green Lane, Pa.) earned her second consecutive Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week title. The award is the third weekly honor for the defender (Sept. 14, Sept. 28). She is the only player this season to earn the C-USA honor more than once. The award marked the sixth consecutive week with at least one C-USA accolade for. Other weekly honor recipients this season include goalkeeper Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) on Sept. 28, forward Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.) on Aug. 31 and Sept. 21, and M/F Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio) on Sept. 8. The seven awards are the most in a Herd season. HERD HISTORY IN THE MAKING This season s Herd squad has already made its way into the record book with a 12-match unbeaten streak (Aug. 23-Oct. 9). Several individual members of the Herd are also on their way to making their mark in history: Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) claimed the school record for career shutouts with her 18th on Sunday against Rice. Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) tied a record with the eighth game-winning goal of her career at ETSU (Sept. 11), and broke the school record for career shots (210) at Middle Tennessee (Oct.11). The Herd is tied for third in C-USA with 21 assists on 24 goals through 15 matches, its most in one season since recording 29 on 29 goals in Last season, had 17 assists on 25 goals. Junior Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.) leads the Herd with five assists, tied for fourth place in Conference USA. HERD RUNS DEEP has shown significant depth on its side as 11 members of the Herd have contributed at least one point so far this season. Among the pack are career firsts by rookies Ashley Seltzer (Knoxville, Tenn.), Jayne Lawman (Winfield, W.Va.) and Mack Moore (West Chester, Pa.); sophomore Katie Suchodolski (Langhorne, Pa.) and junior Jordan Parkhurst (Scottsdale, Ariz.). SCOUTING THE OWLS Florida Atlantic (9-7-0, 3-3-0) sits in sixth place in C-USA, two points behind the fifth-ranked Herd. The Owls are coming off of a 2-0 weekend with shutouts against Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss with the help of the C-USA Defender of the Week Erica Burt on the back line. Emily Jorgenson is the Blue Raiders top scoring weapon with three goals on the year. Defending C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week Kelsey Brouwer notched her sixth shutout of the season last week against Charlotte. Middle Tennessee will host WKU on Friday before the Herd arrives on Sunday. Sunday will be the Herd s first trip to Murfreesboro. The series is tied between the teams, 1-1-0, with both matches played in Huntington. Last season, the visiting Blue Raiders came away with a 1-0 shutout of the Herd (Oct. 19, 2014). CULICERTO NAMED 2015 SENIOR CLASS AWARD CANDIDATE Senior midfielder Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) is one of 30 NCAA women s soccer student-athletes selected as candidates for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate soccer. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) ranks in the top 10 on five career lists: shots (first, 210) gamewinning goals (T-1st, eight), multi-goal matches (third, three), goals (eighth, 14) and points (9th, 31). Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio) is on six career lists: multi-goal matches (third, three), shots (third, 170), goals (third, 19), points (fifth, 47), assists (sixth, nine) and game-winning goals (fourth, six). Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) has started every match in the net for since the start of 2013 and ranks in career shutouts (first, 18) and saves (third, 183). Junior Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.) is tied for No. 4 all-time with 11 career assists. Seniors Jenna Dubs (Green Lane, Pa.) and Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio) are tied for sixth with nine assists apiece. Dubs has started every match of her career (73). MARSHALL PICKED FIFTH The Herd rounded out the top five of Conference USA s 14-team preseason poll, as selected by league coaches (Aug. 4). The Herd returned 14 players from its 2014 roster, including seven starters. Preseason All-C-USA selection Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) entered her senior year as the Herd s top scorer from last season. RETURNING TO THE PITCH s retained 56 percent of its 2014 offense, including top scorer Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) who netted eight goals en route to becoming the program s first player on the All-Conference USA first team. Also back in the lineup is forward Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.), who earned a spot on the 2014 All-Conference USA second team after producing three goals and three assists. also kept senior Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) in goal. HEALTHY HERD The Herd welcomes Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio), Lia Foster (Keswick, Ontario), Katie Suchodolski (Langhorne, Pa.) and Jordan Parkhurst (Scottsdale, Ariz.) back to the pitch after losing each to season-ending ACL injuries in Simmons was the Herd s No. 2 scorer last year with three goals over 13 matches played.
