Game time has been changed from a 6 p.m. kickoff to 12 noon on Saturday. The time was changed for the consideration of the fans and Central Oklahoma to be able to participate in Saturday s contest and reach their destination safely after the game. A&M-Commerce is the only school in the LSC that has had to change its time. All other football games are scheduled to remain as is according to the conference office. The Series This is the 22nd meeting between the Lions and the Bronchos and the first meeting in which the two teams will compete in the same division of the LSC. When Central Oklahoma joined the Lone Star in 1987, the Lions went on a 7-year winning streak before losing to their conference foe in Overall, A&M-Commerce owns the series with a 13-8 record. The first time these two teams met dates back to 1972 at Commerce, where the Lions blanked the Bronchos UCO has won the previous two contests in 2002 and The last win for the Lions occurred in 2001 with a score of The biggest win for the Lions happened when the teams met for the first time, while UCO s biggest victory occurred 20 years ago with a score. At Memorial Stadium The Lions hold an 8-3 record over the Bronchos and are overall at Memorial Stadium. Sean McEnany returns for his second season as the play-by-play voice of Lion Football. Joining him as the color analyst is former Lions linebacker and 1989 J.V. Sikes Award winner Dr. J.P. Slovak. Catc tch Scotty Conley At the Lair Every Tuesday night you can catch head football coach Scotty Conley talk about the upcoming games as well as a recap of the game the week before. KETR 88.9 will broadcast it live from the Lions Lair in the Memoiral Student Center on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus. The show is from 7:00-7:30 p.m. Around the Lone Star Divisional play begins this Saturday for Lone Star Conference football teams, and all eyes will be on the league s South Division, where four teams remain unbeaten through four weeks of the 2005 campaign. The South has established itself as the stronger division this year, with South teams having won 15 of 18 crossover contests against North Division squads. The South posted a perfect 6-0 record against North Division teams on Saturday after going 5-1 the previous week. The final six of 24 total crossover games this year will be played one at a time over the next six weeks, starting with this week s Tarleton State game at Southwestern Oklahoma. Tarleton, at 3-0, is one of four South Division squads with an unblemished record thus far. Angelo State and West Texas A&M are off to surprising 4-0 starts, while perennial power Texas A&M-Kingsville is 3-0. At least one of those four teams will experience defeat this weekend when divisional play starts, because TAMUK will visit West Texas A&M in key South Division contest. Angelo State will get a stern test as well, hosting defending divisional cochampion Midwestern State to start its South schedule. The other South contest will see Eastern New Mexico making the trip to Abilene Christian, which has won two straight games after a wild season-opening loss to Central Oklahoma. UCO and the rest of the North Division teams will try to get things going in the right direction this week. The Bronchos, who are 1-3 after opening the season with lofty aspirations, will start divisional play by visiting Texas A&M-Commerce, while East Central plays its North opener at Northeastern State. Southeastern Oklahoma plays at Oklahoma Panhandle this Saturday in the league s only non-conference contest.

3 Two Year ears Ago At Memorial Stadium A&M-Commerce saw an upset diminish and gave away eight turnovers to allow Central Oklahoma take away a 14 point deficit in the second half comeback. Every point scored in the second half was caused by a Lion turnover, including the points that lead to a game winning field goal. In the second quarter of the game, A&M-Commerce scored 21 points on the Bronchos to go up 21-7 at the half. Current Lions quarterback Jonny Louvier threw two touchdown passes to give A&M-Commerce the lead. He connected to former tight end John Wingate on a 30 yard pass to tie the game and then threw a four yard pass to current Lion DeMarquis Price for a 14-7 score. In the final seconds of the half, current wide receiver Victor Bennett recovered a fumble to score the final points for the half and the Lions in the game. UCO came back in the second half to score three touchdowns and take the crossover game. About Central Oklahoma UCO comes to Commerce with the exact same record as A&M- Commerce at 1-3. Last week the Bronchos traveled to Angelo State losing UCO was leading in the final minutes of the game at when ASU took over on downs and drove the ball 99 yards in four plays to come from behind and win. The Rams improved to 4-0, while the Bronchos suffered their third loss of the season. About Head Coach Langston This is Langston s second year as the head coach of the Bronchos. He took over the UCO reigns on Jan. 1, 2003, becoming just the 10th head football coach in school history. He led the Bronchos to an 8-2 season last year and a 4-1 finish in conference play. Langston spent three years ( ) as an assistant for the University of Oklahoma, before heading to Trinity Valley in 1999, where he served for one season as the defensive line coach. Old Rivals Are Gone There has been a change to the Lion s schedule this year. After being part of the South Division of the Lone Star Conference since the conference began competing in divisional play, the Lions are going North. Gone are decades-old rivalries with Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State and enter in opponents like North Division co-champion Central Oklahoma and NCAA playoff participant Southeastern Oklahoma State. The North division is no stranger to Texas A&M University-Commerce. Lions Against The North Central Oklahoma East Central Northeastern St Southeastern Okla Southwestern Okla Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions Football The Lions have faced North Division foes dating back to 1919, when they faced Southeastern Oklahoma and tied 0-0. Overall, the Lions hold outstanding records against the North Division teams, with a combined standing. Conley came to A&M-Commerce in January 2004 and posted a 4-6 record after the Lions ended the 2003 season with a 1-10 record under former head coach Eddie Brister. In three of the six losses, Conley s squad lost by just three points or less. Familiar Faces This is the first time that Coach Conley and Coach Langston will face each other as foes, but the two are familiar with one another. Coach Langston was a member of Conley s coaching staff at Trinity Valley in 1999, where they were the SWJCFC Champions and posted a stellar 9-3 record. The two coached together for one season. Langston then succeeded Conley as head coach of the institution for three years. As A Coach Conley led the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals to the 1997 National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship. He was named the NJCAA National Coach of the Year and American Football Quarterly Junior College Coach of the Year after directing TVCC to a perfect 12-0 record with a Red River Bowl victory over Garden City (Kan.) He was the Lions graduate assistant in 1999, coaching receivers. Gaskamp served for two-years as recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach for Sam Houston State. Gaskamp who was named second-team All-Big 12 as a player for Texas, is known for being the big blocker for former Longhorn running back Ricky Williams. Roberts comes from Oklahoma State, where he assisted and coordinated a summer workout program and worked in the strength and conditioning program in The Cowboys were first in the Big 12 for forcing turnovers with 26 recoveries for a plus-17 in turnover margin. A New Staff Three new full-time assistants have been added to the Lions coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Kevin Goodwin, offensive line coach Russell Gaskamp and defensive line coach Justin Roberts were appointed by Conley this year. In his five years here, the Lions defense had never ranked below seventh in the Lone Star Conference. In 2003, Cauthen led his defensive unit to a fourth place ranking in the LSC and 41st in NCAA Division II in total defense. KJ

5 Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions Football NNHHH Two-f o-for or-t -Two Last week against Abilene Christian, the Lions scored two safeties. A&M-Commerce had gone without scoring a safety for three years. The last time a safety was recorded by an A&M-Commerce team was in 2002 at Memorial Stadium against Eastern New Mexico. No other team in the Lone Star has recorded two safeties in a game since Tarleton State did in Patt tt Is Back After missing the previous two games, wide receiver Cedric Patt returned to action last Saturday. He had four catches for 79 yards and scored his second touchdown of the season. Overall Patt ranks third in the team stats with 9 catches for 133 yards and is averaging 14.8 yards per catch and 44.3 per game. The Scoop on Bennett Senior Victor Bennett has showed impressive numbers the past two seasons. This year he leads the team in receiving and has surpassed what he accomplished when he walked into A&M-Commerce as a Freshman in In his first year, Bennett ended the season with 44 total yards. In just four games this season, Bennett has multiplied that five times and has totaled 223 yards on 21 catches. He is averaging 10.6 yards per catch, 55.8 per game and has game highs this season in receptions with 10 and longest catch for 87 yards. Each player recorded nine tackles and each had tackles for lost yardage. Satchel had one tackle for loss, forcing the Wildcats to loose five yards, while Hearn caused.5 yards for a loss. Together, the two have tallied 77 tackles and lead A&M-Commerce s defensive squad. Hearn and Ha a Bento made the national charts this week coming in 4th and 32nd respectively. J.D. Hearn was placed 4th in the NCAA Division II polls for the 52 tackles he has recorded in just four games. The senior is averaging 13 tackles per game and has already received conference and regional honors for his accomplishments. Bento is ranked 32nd under the field goal statistics for NCAA Division II schools. The Honolulu, Hawaii, native has scored 12 points and is 4-for-6 this season. Bento earned conference honors two weeks ago for his game against Midwestern State, where he scored nine of the 27 points for the Lions.
