It may be fairly difficult to duplicate or better a 31-4 overall finish, trip to the Final Four, first-ever Big 12 men s basketball crown, a 14-2 intraconference record, and a romp through the Phillips 66 Big 12 tourney with an exclamation point victory over Texas in the finals. But the groundwork is there with returning 2005 Wooden Award preseason watch list candidates 5-11 senior guard John Lucas and 6-7 senior forward Joey Graham. Lucas was Associated Press 2004 Big 12 Player of the Year after averaging 15.1 ppg and 4.5 apg as the floor general of the OSU offense. Joey Graham, whose brother Stephen was a key player off the bench for OSU last season, was a near-consensus Newcomer of the Year after posting 12.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 40 assists, and 23 steals. Only guard Tony Allen, the Big 12 Coaches Player of the Year, has completed his eligibility among the five starters from the Big 12 title squad. Head coach Eddie Sutton begins Senior John Lucas his 15 th season at OSU and 35 th overall with 755 wins in his career and over 23 victories per year during his O-State tenure. His training of other returning starters 6-8 forward Ivan McFarlin and 6-4 shooting guard Daniel Bobik made the Cowboys one of the toughest teams to defeat nationally (22 wins in their final 24 games with a two-point setback to Georgia Tech in the national semis) down the stretch in Newcomers such as North Carolina High School Player of the Year JamesOn Curry and junior college standout 6-10 Aaron Pettway add even more potential to the eight returning letter recipients. Missouri Valley Conference titles won or shared (13, ,.815) Big Eight Conference titles won or shared (2, ,.470) Phillips 66 Big Eight Tournament titles won (2, 12-18,.400) Big 12 Conference titles won or shared (1, 84-44,.656) Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament titles (1, 9-7,.563) NCAA Tournament appearances (21, 35-20,.636) Postseason NIT appearances (7, 6-8,.429) Dr. David Schmidly President Dr. Gerald Lage Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Harry Birdwell Athletics Director Amy Weeks Senior Woman Administrator 80

Paced by 2005 Wooden Award watch list and 6-5 soph forward P.J. Tucker, the UT squad appears ready to reload after a 25-8 overall mark, 15-1 record at home and second place in the Big 12 race with a 12-4 worksheet. Tucker scored 10.4 ppg, averaged 6.8 rpg with 105 offensive boards and led the team with a.547 shooting percentage to earn a position on the All-Big 12 Freshman team. Guard Kenton Paulino returns as a starter with three-point range and steady floor leadership. Inside enforcer Brad Buckman applies his 6-8 frame with a 5.7 scoring average, 4.5 rpg and team-leading 34 blocks. Barnes might have done one of his best coaching jobs in a sterling, six-year tenure last season after losing National Player of the Year T.J. Ford in senior guard Brandon Mouton stepped up Sophomore P.J. Tucker with a team-high 13.9 ppg, and his leadership will be missed. The current UT edition has excellent bench strength with the return of 6-9 center Jason Klotz (7.0 ppg) and 6-2 guard Kenny Taylor (7.3 ppg).
