1 SOUTH BAY TRAP LEAGUE NEWS APRIL, 2007 Our March shoot at Livermore-Pleasanton Gun Club was well attended with 123 shooters. It was as good as it gets in this part of California. The weather was perfect! The targets were great and the shoot ran smoothly. Our thanks to Ray, Keith, Jim, and all of the trap personnel for making it happen. Oh yes, the scores ran high, as you might expect, under such great conditions. There were 17 new or long lost shooters at the event. They are: Don Christman and Wade Stanfill for Livermore; Jorge Ethier, Rich Fontana, Lupe Angel, Ozzy Moreno, Darrell Thompson, and Josh Borrelli for Waterford; Jake Smith, Tamara Smith, Jim Hayes, Sashi Hayes, Ranee Smith, and Drew Premock for Newman; Stephany Mitchell and Bill Ladd for Metcalf Coyotes; and Martin Chavez for the Eagles. Thank you for participating in SBTL. We hope to see you at all of our events. TIME FOR CHANGE This is the last year for Sylvia and me to be active in running SBTL. What originally was a two year commitment has stretched to six years. They have been a good six years and the League is in good condition. However, it is time for new leadership. I will return to being just another shooter and Sylvia is considering a return to shooting. The work of the League is currently distributed among several people and could be divided even more so. Please think about how you can help. SBTL is too important to let die. It not only provides its participants with fun but it also is the conduit by which most local shooters join the ATA and PITA. RULE REVIEW Only the squad leader can ask to see a target before shooting commences. It can only be a single target or single pair in doubles unless it is illegal or broken, in which case another target(s) can be requested. In shoot-offs, two targets or two pairs in doubles can be requested. If there is a delay due to trap or gun malfunction, the shooter in turn may ask to see a target(s) before shooting. If a shooter has a No Target event, the shooter can ask to see a target before shooting. There are no provisions in the rules to allow a shooter to see a target because of short delays due to loud speakers, auto noises, etc. The scorer would need to make a judgment call in such circumstances because those events do occur and they can be disruptive. TIDBITS Shooters must stand on or straddle the imaginary line through the center of the post and stand behind the correct yardage line. Semi-autos cannot eject shells in such a manner that substantially disturbs or interferes with other shooters. Guns must be open and unloaded except on the firing line. Snap caps (not hulls) are OK in racks. PRESQUAD For changes or additions, call LAST CALL for unclaimed 1000 bird and All-Star pins from All unclaimed money from 2006 will be swept into the SBTL treasury after the APRIL SHOOT. See SBTL rule book, Sec. G. i., page 13. Shooters Steve Dicherico, Todd Foster, Keith Foster, Jason Nelson, Josh Wildt, and Zack Zanolini have unclaimed money. The April shoot is at Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club. I hope to see you there. B.J.
