This marks the third straight year that the Flyers have made the trip to Denver after not visiting the Mile High City in either or All-time, the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise is against the Flyers, but do hold a advantage versus Philadelphia since moving to Denver. EAST SIDE STORY The Avalanche is 4-0 against Eastern Conference teams this season, 1-0 at home and 3-0 on the road. The Avs are one of only two Western Conference teams to sport a perfect record against the East so far this year (Vancouver is 3-0-0). Furthermore, only one Eastern Conference team has a perfect record against the West, the Buffalo Sabres (5-0-0). KRUPP FOURTH ALUMNI HONOREE In celebration of Pepsi Center s 10-year anniversary, the Colorado Avalanche launched its Alumni Association on Opening Night in a pre-game ceremony introducing Joe Sakic as the first of 10 honorees to be named throughout the season. Tonight, the club will honor former defenseman Uwe Krupp as the fourth honoree. Krupp is best remembered for scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal in the third overtime of Game 4 of the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals in Florida. After suffering a knee injury on opening night that forced him to miss most of the regular season, Krupp skated in all 22 games during that playoff run, tallying 16 points (4g/12a). The Cologne, West Germany native spent three seasons with the Avalanche after the team relocated from Quebec. Each Alumni Game will include a pregame ceremonial puck drop and a presentation of a painting by renowned artist Stephen Holland. Fans attending the game will receive a free, limited edition replica poster of the painting. For a list of Alumni Games, visit HOME, SWEET HOME Colorado is at Pepsi Center. The Avs began the year 6-0 at home, matching the franchise record for consecutive home wins to start a season. The Avalanche also started 6-0 at home, as did the Quebec Nordiques. The Avs, who were the last undefeated team at home, suffered their first home loss of the season on Nov. 8 against Edmonton. BLOCK PARTY The Avalanche leads the NHL with 412 blocked shots. Colorado finished second last season with 1,317, trailing only the New York Islanders (1,391). Brett Clark leads all NHL players in blocked shots with 72. Clark had a career-high 12 blocked shots on Nov. 6 against Chicago, the most in a single game in team history. A year ago, he finished second among all players with 238 blocked shots. PENALTY KILL The Avalanche is tied for 11th in penalty killing at 82.0%. The Avs gave up three power-play goals in 13 opportunities on their recent road trip, including two PPG to Vancouver on Friday night.
