Wade Redden added a goal and two assists for the Rangers, Marian Gaborik had a goal and a helper, and Ryan Callahan also lit the lamp. Henrik Lundqvist turned away 27-of-29 shots in the win. 8 GUSTAVSSON BECOMES FIFTH EUROPEAN-BORN GOALTENDER TO SUIT UP FOR MAPLE LEAFS Jonas Gustavsson made his NHL debut on October 3 at Washington and became just the fifth European-born goaltender to play for the Maple Leafs. The following is an all-time list of European-born goaltenders to wear the blue and white: *Vesa Toskala (Finland) games Jiri Crha (Czech Republic) - 69 games Mikael Tellqvist (Sweden) - 40 games Martin Gerber (Switzerland) - 12 games *Jonas Gustavsson (Sweden) - 2 games *Active NINE PLAYERS MAKE DEBUT IN BLUE AND WHITE On October 1 against the Montreal Canadiens, 8 players made their Maple Leafs debut. Forwards Colton Orr, Wayne Primeau, Jay Rosehill, Viktor Stalberg and Rickard Wallin, and defencemen Francois Beauchemin, Garnet Exelby and Mike Komisarek all suited up in their first game as a Maple Leaf. Rosehill and Stalberg were also playing in their first NHL games. Rookie goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, who made his NHL debut on October 3 at Washington against the Capitals, became the 9th player to suit up in his first game as a Maple Leaf this season. Gustavsson took over for starting goaltender Vesa Toskala at the begining of the second period and finished the game for the Maple Leafs. Recently acquired forward Phil Kessel, who is currenty an injured non roster player, and goaltender Joey MacDonald will also look to make their Maple Leafs debut this season. STALBERG SHINES IN NHL DEBUT AFTER STRONG PRE-SEASON Viktor Stalberg made his NHL debut on October 1 versus the Montreal Canadiens. He collected his first NHL point with an assist on Matt Stajan s third-period goal, and registered 2 hits and 2 shots in 19:01 of ice time. Stalberg led Toronto in pre-season scoring, registering 9 points (6 goals, 3 assists) and 4 penalty minutes with a +1 rating in 8 games. The native of Gothenburg, Sweden also led the NHL in pre-season goals (6), was tied for the lead in shots (25), and was second in points (9). The 6-3, 210-pound forward was Toronto s fifth choice, 161st overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft. KABERLE CURRENTLY THIRD IN ALL-TIME SCORING AMONG LEAFS DEFENCEMEN Tomas Kaberle needs 22 points to tie and 23 points to surpass Tim Horton for second place on the Maple Leafs all-time scoring list among defencemen.
