No Lack of Saddledome drama Ben Kuzma - The Province December 30, 2013 RED-HOT CANUCKS: Eddie gets shutout, Henrik takes puck in the head, Alberts sidelined The big question was supposed to be how Eddie Lack would play, not if Andrew Alberts would return from a suspendable first-period hit or if Henrik Sedin would play at all Sunday. The Vancouver Canucks showed some rust from a six-day break but claimed a 2-0 victory over the Calgary Flames to extend their red-hot run to Right from the start, there was significant Saddledome drama. Little of it had to do with Lack, until he was forced to make some saves and claim his second career NHL shutout. It had more to do with Alberts taking a hit to the head from Brian McGrattan, who was assessed a five-minute elbowing major and game misconduct for having his arm ride up and drilling the defenceman along the sideboards before three minutes had elapsed. Alberts left the game, didn t return and has a suspected concussion. It also had to do with Canucks captain Sedin taking a warm-up puck to the head and leaving for treatment before returning to start the game. When Alberts was dropped by McGrattan, the Flames enforcer was forced to fight Tom Sestito. Now his biggest fight will be to avoid a multiple-game suspension from NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan, even though he s a first-time offender. With Alex Edler (knee) and Ryan Stanton (ankle) sidelined, the Canucks are expected to recall Frank Corrado from the AHL Utica Comets. It was an ugly incident and you definitely don t want to see that, said Canucks winger Jannik Hansen, who opened scoring in the final minute of the first period after taking a breakaway pass from Sedin. Canucks coach John Tortorella didn t see the hit and didn t comment, and the Flames take is open to debate. Grats went in and he went to hit him, said Flames coach Bob Hartley, who disputed the nature of the call. The referees told me first that they thought there was an elbow. I think the replay is pretty clear on this. But like any other play, the league will review it and we ll see.

Meanwhile, there was enough to talk about, with what occurred during and even before the Pacific Division rivals met for the second time this season. Sedin had his left ear split in the warm-up when a Dale Weise shot rang off the post and caught the centre, who was wisely wearing a helmet. After being stitched up and having a protective ear piece attached, the durable Swede extended his gamesplayed streak to 669 games, the second longest active run in the NHL behind Jay Bouwmeester of the St. Louis Blues. I really don t know what happened if they had a sniper up in the stands there, chuckled the Canucks captain. Something hit me and I had to get stitches. I wasn t really hurt, only in looks. I m going to tell my kids I got 35 stitches, but (it s) maybe five. Despite the obvious overall rust, it was an encouraging three-shot performance by Hansen, who looked a lot better on the first line than he has looked in weeks. Challenged by Tortorella to get his entire game in order, Hansen responded by snapping a shot stick side after taking the long lead feed from his centre, Henrik Sedin. It s a tremendous play, said Hansen. He s finding seams and holes that no other players can do in this league. You change your game a little bit when you play with them (Sedins). They seem to have a tremendous play between them, so you try and stay out of their way and find the open spot. If you can draw a player to you, it gives them more room. Tortorella wasn t letting Hansen off the hook. With Alex Burrows sidelined by a broken jaw, there shouldn t be any sense of entitlement in playing with the Sedins. There should be a performance bar raised higher than seven goals in 30 games after Hansen signed a fouryear, $10- million-us contract extension that kicks in next season. Forget the goal he played harder on the puck, said Tortorella. That line played better (nine shots) and was one of our better lines.... Hansen was better but what s the standard? I need it for more than one game. I need it every game and that should be a staple of his game. Hopefully we get that. The Canucks had ample opportunity to stretch their lead in the second period. But they couldn t get the second goal until there was less than three minutes in regulation time. Mike Santorelli, who scored twice in a 5-4 overtime win here on Oct. 6, took a cross-ice feed from Ryan Kesler and slid the puck under a falling Berra. He (Berra) kind of robbed me a couple of minutes before and I saw a little opening there, said Santorelli.

Turns out to be easy Eddie shutout Ben Kuzma The Province December 30, 2013 LACK OF WORK: Goalie has to stop only 18 shots, with 10 of those in the third period CALGARY Eddie Lack wasn t totally happy with his game Sunday. Imagine that? After turning aside 18 shots including 10 in the third period the Vancouver Canucks backup goaltender looked more like a seasoned starter than a first-year stopper by recording his second career NHL shutout in a 2-0 victory over the Calgary Flames. I didn t really feel great technically, honestly, today, but the team played great and I didn t get a lot of hard chances and they were easy on me, shrugged Lack of coming off a six-day break that saw the smiling Swede snowmobiling in Whistler. I thought the team played a really good game overall and I didn t see a lot of rubber. In replacing the injured Roberto Luongo expected to be sidelined another week with a groin strain Lack s first test didn t come until 13 minutes had elapsed. Off a turnover behind the net, he turned aside Mike Cammalleri and by that point the Canucks held a 10-1 shot advantage that they would build into 24-8 after two periods. It s like the third or fourth game this year where I ve played and it s been like that, Lack said of little early work. I m getting kind of used to it. I just tried to stay warm all the time and be solid with shots here and there and I felt like I stayed in the game. Calgary lost 2-0 to the Edmonton Oilers on Friday, making this weekend the first time the Flames have been blanked in back-to-back outings since March 25-26, 2009, when they didn t score a goal in road stops in Pittsburgh and Columbus. On Sunday, there weren t many quality chances to test Lack, who had a lategame shot clang off the far post. Yeah, (John) Garrett and (John) Shorthouse probably said shutout with two minutes left, joked Lack about the TV announcers, who might have almost jinxed him. Lack was forced to make a good slot save off Mikael Backlund and a glove off a Chris Butler point shot early in the second period and then held his ground as Joe Colborne tried to drive through him from side of the net. There was a good save off David Jones early in the third period with the Flames coming on. And Lack smartly put his paddle down along the ice to stop a TJ Galiardi backhander before taking a Lee Stempniak shot off his helmet. With a record and an eyepopping 1.74 goals-against average and.937 saves percentage, it s no wonder the Canucks expect it s going to take something special to beat the calm and positionally sound Lack.

He s in the right spot all the time, and on the bench you re never thinking it s going to be a goal, said Canucks captain Henrik Sedin. He s making the easy saves. Six months ago, nobody was sure what to think. Canucks coach John Tortorella proclaimed the Canucks won t get a sniff of success without Luongo. And with some uncertainty how Lack would recover from Jan. 29 hip labrum surgery and challenge for the backup position, the club signed Joacim Eriksson in June. But by October, when Lack claimed his first career regularseason win here, there was a sense that the Canucks may have their tandem. Now they do. We have total confidence in Eddie and we don t take a step back, said Tortorella. Especially in third when he had to make some saves. No such thing as an easy win Brad Ziemer The Vancouver Sun December 30, 2013 Canucks happy with their defensive game, but off ence could use a jump- start CALGARY The Vancouver Canucks seem to have everything going for them but a killer instinct. Their team defence has been excellent of late, and so has their goaltending. If the Canucks have a resolution to begin the new year in a couple of days, coach John Tortorella hopes it will be to score more goals. Sunday night, the Canucks won again, but their 2-0 shutout of the Calgary Flames at Tthe Scotiabank Saddledome really was more difficult than it needed to be. It wasn t until Mike Santorelli s insurance goal at 17: 44 of the third period that the Canucks could exhale. The game should have been over a long time before that. It takes us a while to score goals, Tortorella said after watching his team win for the 10th time in its last 12 games. It takes a lot of chances for us to score goals. But Tortorella is delighted with other parts of his team s game, most notably on the defensive side of the puck. Defensively, I think we have really grown, Tortorella said. I think we re a stiffer team as we have grown as a team here in the first half. But we are going to have to be stiffer as we keep on going through this part of the season. We have cut down our chances, our goaltenders have made saves when they have needed to, but overall away from the puck I think we have developed into a pretty good hockey club.

Sunday s win came with a price. Defenceman Andrew Alberts left the game at 2: 43 of the first period after being levelled by a high hit from Calgary forward Brian McGrattan. That meant the Canucks had to finish the game with five defencemen. And with no extra defencemen on the roster and Alberts likely out with a suspected concussion, expect to see rookie Frank Corrado in Vancouver s lineup when the Canucks meet the Philadelphia Flyers on tonight at Rogers Arena. The Canucks, coming off a weeklong Christmas break, were all over the Flames in the first two periods. Goalie Eddie Lack s break was even longer than the rest of the team s. He didn t see his first shot until the game was 13 minutes old and only faced eight shots in the first 40 minutes. He had to earn his second shutout of the season in a more frantic third period, when the Canucks were outshot He made some good saves in the third period, Tortorella said of Lack, who is now this season. You know, we have total confidence ( in Lack). I don t think we take a step back when Eddie plays net. Especially in the third period, I thought he was solid. Lack s numbers are approaching the scary good level: a 1.74 goals- against average and a.933 save percentage. Not surprisingly, he has the total confidence of his teammates. I think he faced two shots in the first, five or six shots halfway through the game and that s tough being a goalie, said captain Henrik Sedin. He is so calm, he is in the right spot all the time and on the bench you are never thinking there is going to be a goal. He is right there, he is making easy saves and he is fun to watch. Lack, now the starter with Roberto Luongo out with a suspected groin injury, seems to be having fun making all those saves. I thought the team played a really good game overall, Lack said. I didn t see a lot of rubber, they made it easy on me. It was really a team effort today. Lack was mainly a spectator in the early going as the Canucks carried the play for most of the first period. It s like the third or fourth game I have played this year that it has been like this, so I am getting kind of used to it, said Lack, who figures to start again tonight against the Flyers. McGrattan s high hit on Alberts will certainly be reviewed by the league. He received a major for elbowing and a game misconduct, as well as a major for a fight with Canucks winger Tom Sestito, who immediately challenged McGrattan.

Tortorella said he hadn t seen a replay of the hit and would not comment. Flames coach Bob Hartley said he didn t think McGrattan s elbow made contact with Alberts head. Grats went in and he went to hit him, Hartley said. The referees told me first that they thought there was an elbow. I think the replay is pretty clear on this. But like any other play, the league will review it and we ll see. It was an ugly incident and you definitely don t want to see that, said Vancouver winger Jannik Hansen. Henrik Sedin survived a scare in the pre- game warmup. Henrik left the ice doubledover early in the warm- up after he took a puck in the head. He was struck in the left ear after a shot by teammate Dale Weise bounced off the post. Henrik was wearing a helmet, but required stitches. I don t really know what happened, Henrik said with a smile after the game. They had a sniper up in the stands there. Coach asks for more, Hansen delivers Brad Ziemer The Vancouver Sun December 30, 2013 Tortorella pleased with goal, but more impressed by entire line s hard play CALGARY Jannik Hansen hasn t exactly grabbed hold of the opportunity to play with the Sedin twins and run with it. In fact, before Sunday s game against the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks coach John Tortorella was making it crystal clear that he was not at all pleased with Hansen s play. We need to get more out of Hansen, Tortorella said. Well, a few hours later, Hansen delivered the kind of game that Tortorella expects of him. He scored what proved to be the game- winning goal after being sprung free with a brilliant breakaway pass from Henrik Sedin and seemed much more involved in the play. Forget the goal, although it s an important goal, Tortorella said. I thought he played harder on the puck. I thought that line played better, all of them. In the third period I thought it was one of our better lines in just changing the momentum and they started playing underneath the hash marks. But Tortorella then added that he expects repeat performances from Hansen.

So Hansen played better, but what s the standard? Tortorella asked. It s not just going to be for one game. I need him to be doing that every game. That should be a staple of his game and hopefully we get that. Tortorella has been disappointed by Hansen s play, in part, because he was so impressed with him when he watched the Canucks on tape before being hired as the team s new coach. I just don t think he has played well and it s not because of the Sedins or because he is playing with them, Tortorella said. I just don t think he has played consistently enough. And I told you guys early on when I watched the games prior to me coming here he is one who stood out to me. I just don t think he has got to that level. It has been a tough season for Hansen, whose goal Sunday was his seventh of the season. He missed 10 games earlier this season with a shoulder injury. And he acknowledged that playing full time lately with Daniel and Henrik has required some adjustment. You change your game a little bit when you play with them, Hansen said. They seem to have a tremendous ( chemistry) between them so you are kind of staying out of their way and finding the open spots. If you can draw a player to you it gives them that much more room. Hansen showed great finish after taking Henrik s long pass that put him in alone on Calgary goalie Reto Berra. He beat the Swiss rookie with a nice shot to the stick side. It s a tremendous play, Hansen said of Henrik s seeingeye pass. He is finding seams and holes that not a lot of players can do in this league. If you are open it s going to get there. I don t know if he ( Berra) lost his balance a bit, but the far side seemed open. Henrik thinks Hansen is beginning to find some chemistry with he and Daniel. I think it s working well, Henrik said. I think we play a consistent game, we are playing good defensively, we are maybe not scoring as much as we want to. But we are getting some chances and should have had a few more, but he is so quick and strong on the puck and that is what we need him to do. If he can do that consistently, it s is going to work out well. FOX- Y SIGNING: The Canucks signed Ontario Hockey League scoring star Dane Fox of the Erie Otters on the weekend. The 20- year- old, who was an undrafted free agent, leads the OHL with 41 goals in 37 games this season and is second in the league with 67 points. Fox is a teammate of Canuck 2012 first- round draft pick Brendan Gaunce. He is a late- bloomer, but he also had a very good season last year and seems to have found a way to excel at the Ontario Hockey League level, Canuck general manager Mike Gillis said of the six- foot, 185- pound Fox. We are very pleased to get him signed. We have had him and a couple of other players identified as key guys in the free agent market coming out of junior and college. Certainly he was at the top of our list, among a couple of

others. We tend to only focus on a few players, not a ton, but he was right there at the top of that list, so we are very pleased to have him done. Flyers' Simmonds one away from team record Frank Seravalli Daily News December 30, 2013 VANCOUVER - Some mornings, like yesterday at the team hotel overlooking Coal Harbour, Scott Hartnell is envious of Sean Couturier. It's not that Hartnell wishes he was was a decade younger. His body just feels the destruction his rambunctious style of play has wreaked. "I was looking at Couturier today in the locker room. He gets to sit there, relax, watch the football games and put on his skates to go practice," Hartnell said. "I wake up, my shoulders are tight, my hips are sore. I had a welt on my calf from a slash I didn't even know I took. I have to get on the bike, do some extra stretching, maybe get treatment. "I feel a lot older than I am at 31." Tonight against the Canucks, Hartnell's linemate, Wayne Simmonds, can become the first player in the 46-season history of the Flyers to score two or more goals in four consecutive games. He's done it the dirty way so far, getting hacked and whacked. On Saturday night in Edmonton, Simmonds redirected one Claude Giroux shot and put in another with his feet almost touching the blue paint in Ilya Bryzgalov's crease. "I think we try to overcomplicate things sometimes and that hurts us," Simmonds said after a brisk practice yesterday afternoon. "We can't play like we're the Harlem Globetrotters. We've got to stick to our game." Heading into the third period against the Oilers, coach Craig Berube had a fiery message for his team during the intermission. "Where the [bleep] do you score your goals?" Berube asked his team, Hartnell recalled. Point taken. Kimmo Timonen's shot hit Hartnell's stick, while he was screening Bryzgalov, for the game-tying goal that ultimately earned the Flyers two points by virtue of a 4-3, shootout victory. "I don't think every player has the fit or the want to stand in front of the net, take cross-checks and have pucks blasted at you going 100 miles per hour," Hartnell said. "Simmer is a guy who has done a great job being in front of the net. That's where the action happens."

Reggie Leach (Oct , 1981; Jan. 4-7, 1976) and Ross Lonsberry (Feb. 5-8, 1976) are the only other players in Flyers history to score multiple goals in three straight games. Neither one could push the streak to four. Simmonds is the first NHL player to score two or more in three straight games since San Jose's Patrick Marleau, who compiled a four-game streak Jan , With even one point tonight at Rogers Centre, Simmonds can tie his career-high point streak of six games, set with the Kings from Nov. 25-Dec. 5, Jake Voracek (nine games) and Claude Giroux (eight games) also have streaks on the line. "Wayne never changed his game when he wasn't scoring," Berube said. "He's played pretty well the same way the whole time. He's not a 'rush' guy, he's a 'net' guy. He does all the little things, working hard to get in there and gets the puck up to the 'D.' He's at the net all the time." Berube has two key philosophies: One is that every player, regardless of skill or role, can play the same without the puck, and the other is that it's tough to score when you're not in front of the goalie. He noted last week so few goals are scored cleanly or, as Simmonds said, in Globetrotter fashion. In the NHL, there is no gain without pain. Simmonds has the bruises and stats to show for it. "It's nice," Simmonds said. "We probably had the worst start to the season of all of our careers, so I guess you could just say we're trying to make up for lost time. The team's on the right track. We're starting to go right now." Slap shots With three power-play goals in Edmonton, the Flyers clawed to 15th in the NHL (18.4 percent) after starting the year 30th (2-for-30, 6 percent)... The Flyers have only lost once in Vancouver since Dec. 31, 1989 (10-1-4)... Tonight marks the second game in a row the Flyers will face a team that played the night before in Calgary... Roberto Luongo (lower body), Alex Edler (knee) and Alex Burrows (jaw) are out for the Canucks... Expect Steve Mason (3-2 loss vs. Vancouver on Oct. 15) to start, with Ray Emery handling the duties in Calgary tomorrow night in Calgary. Emery is with a.947 save percentage and 1.43 goals-against average in his career against the Flames. Simmonds deserves NHL 'star' consideration

Wayne Fish Bucks County, Courier Times December 30, 2013 Selection for National Hockey League stars of the week honors is usually reserved for the best of the best performances over the past seven days. Based on that criteria, the Flyers Wayne Simmonds deserves strong consideration for that recognition, judging by what he did in recent games. Simmonds became only the third player in Flyers history to score two goals in three consecutive games. Because the first of those two-goal games came Dec. 21 in a 6-3 loss at Columbus, only two of Simmonds games will count toward the award. But because the work week was shortened by the three-day Christmas break, Simmonds efforts should get some attention. The NHL makes its announcement of the award on Mondays. Reggie Leach was the last to perform this feat -- he did it twice -- and Ross Lonsberry did it once and all those performances happened more than 30 years ago. Simmonds capped off his spectacular week by scoring two goals in the Flyers come-frombehind 4-3 shootout win at Edmonton on Saturday night. He also registered a pair of goals in the Flyers win over Minnesota last Monday. Simmonds now has jumped into the Flyers goal lead with 12. He has scored points in five straight games (7-2-9), one shy of his career best. Short shots Leach had multi-goal games between Oct , 1981 and Jan. 3-7, Lonsberry s streak took place Feb. 5-8, Raffl's shootout goal caps Flyers rally over Bryzgalov, Oilers Associated Press - The Times Herald December 29, 2013

EDMONTON, Alberta Michael Raffl had no idea he would be called upon to take a shot in the shootout for the Philadelphia Flyers. He made the most of it and gave his club a stirring road victory. The 25-year-old rookie forward scored the winner on his first career shootout attempt, and the Flyers overcame an early deficit to beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 on Saturday night. I didn t really expect to be sent out there, Raffl said. I was ready to hold my helmet, and then I heard that I was going third, and I was like, `Nice. I really enjoyed it. It was nice to get the chance, and it going in made it even nicer. It s always nice to score a goal, and to have it be the winner was even better Wayne Simmonds had a pair of goals for the third straight game, and Scott Hartnell also scored for the Flyers ( ), who have won four of five and snapped a five-game, road-losing streak at the beginning of a six-game trip. We ve been struggling on the road, so to start off this long road trip with a pretty solid victory is very nice, said goalie Steve Mason, who faced only 16 shots. We just need to carry it through to our next game and keep building on this. Simmonds, who has seven goals in his last five games, is the first Flyers player to post three straight multiple-goal games since Reggie Leach in It has been a good stretch for me, Simmonds said. It s been even better that the team has been starting to win and piling up the two points most nights. It feels good. I ve just been getting the bounces. Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and David Perron scored for the Oilers ( ), who led 2-0 but had a two-game winning streak snapped. Edmonton has lost seven of nine. It wasn t our best game, that s for sure, but sometimes you have to take a look at what you ve done, Hall said. A back-to-back after a three-day break isn t necessarily the easiest thing to do. That s not really an excuse, but when you look back at the schedule, sometimes there are reasons for why you don t do well. When we have a schedule like that, we have to keep it as simple as possible and make sure we re not playing a mistake-filled game. The Oilers got off to a quick start and took the lead 32 seconds in when Hall scored on Edmonton s first shot. Hall took the puck from defenseman Braydon Coburn deep in the Philadelphia zone and beat Mason with a quick wrist shot high to the glove side for his 15th goal.

The Oilers made it 2-0 at 4:02 when Nugent-Hopkins made a nice move at the blue line and scored from the slot. Hall earned his 100th NHL assist on the goal, and Oilers captain Andrew Ference notched his 200th point. The Flyers couldn t get any of their 11 first-period shots past Ilya Bryzgalov, who played his first game against Philadelphia since the club bought out his hefty long-term contract. I know they re not going to quit, Bryzgalov said of the Flyers. I knew they were going to play hard and they were going to get lots of pucks to the net. That s the style they play, aggressive. Bryzgalov stopped Sean Couturier on a pair of short-handed opportunities in tight, including one on a diving stick save, in the second period. The Oilers have allowed an NHL-high eight shorthanded goals this season. The Flyers cut the deficit to 2-1 with a power-play goal at 3:37 of the second. Simmonds tipped in a shot from the top of the circle by Claude Giroux, who extended his point streak to eight games. Philadelphia tied it with 7:47 left in the second with another power-play goal. A pretty tic-tac-toe passing play had Bryzgalov spinning around before Simmonds scored his second of the night into a wide-open net. Philadelphia held a 14-3 shots edge in the second period. Edmonton regained the lead on its next power play with 8:08 remaining in regulation. Perron banked a shot from the side of the net off Flyers defenseman Niklas Grossmann and into the net for his team-leading 16th of the season and the 100th of his NHL career. Philadelphia came right back and tied it with 5:32 left, netting its third power-play goal. Hartnell tipped Kimmo Timonen s shot past a frustrated Bryzgalov during a 5-on-3 advantage. Mason kept it tied with two minutes left when he stopped Perron with a glove save during a breakaway. The Flyers outshot the Oilers through overtime. NOTES: It was the second and final meeting between the teams this season. The Flyers, who won 4-2 at home on Nov. 9, hadn t won in Edmonton since March 19, The Flyers owe Bryzgalov $1.6 million per year through the season.... Oilers D Corey Potter (groin) didn t play. Recent AHL call-up Martin Marincin was in the lineup in his place.... Flyers RW Steve Downie returned from an upper-body injury. RW Adam Hall also played after missing practice on Friday because of the flu. Simmonds stays hot with 2 goals vs. Oilers

Sarah Baicker CSN Philly.com December 29, 2013 EDMONTON, Alberta Wayne Simmonds said he knew Ilya Bryzgalov would be on his Agame Saturday night. But he was also quite familiar with Bryzgalov s weaknesses. That helped Simmonds in a big way against the Oilers, when he scored two power-play goals in the Flyers 4-3 shootout win (see story). Obviously, we had Bryz for the last two years, Simmonds said. I actually thought he played a really good game. He made a lot of stops for them, and we just had to keep crashing the net. And we had some really nice goals in that shootout, so it was nice to get two points. Trailing 2-0 heading into the second period, Simmonds came alive for the Flyers in the middle stanza. He scored first by tipping in a shot from Giroux at 3:37, and built on it with another marker at 12:13. The team s momentum seemed to follow his lead. On top of his two-goal effort in Edmonton, Simmonds had scored two goals in the two games that preceded it, against Minnesota and Columbus. He s only the third Flyer to ever post three consecutive multi-goal games. Reggie Leach did it in 1981 and 1976, and Ross Lonsberry also accomplished the feat in Simmonds is in the midst of a five-game point streak, just one game shy of his career high. Sometimes, he said, you just get the bounces. Simmonds hasn t changed his game at all recently, and he s not playing with a new line. He s simply finding ways to score, which he wasn t able to do for whatever reason early on in the year. That s what he does best, Giroux said. He s in front of the net, he gets those goals that people might think it s easy to get those goals, but they re the hardest. He gets a beating out there, it s good to see him get those goals. Simmonds, of course, isn t the only Flyer in the midst of an impressive point streak. Giroux s two assists Saturday night extended his streak to eight games, a career high. Jakub Voracek, who also registered a pair of assists, saw his streak continue on to nine games also a career record. The Flyers, as they ve needed to, are beginning to make up for lost time. They all had kind of tough starts, like the team, coach Craig Berube said. They weren t producing at the time. They re doing a good job now. Their work ethic s good, and they re doing a lot of good things in the offensive zone, and the power play s been very good for a while now. Loose pucks In their win in Edmonton, the Flyers allowed more than one goal in the first period for the first time this season. The Flyers had three power-play goals in the win for just the second time

this season. The win was the Flyers first at Rexall Place since 2001.
