FORMAT CHANGES
FORMAT CHANGES RATIONALE WHY US Soccer wants to develop players with more: individual skill, intelligence, creativity and confidence. Players should be having fun, and feel free to make their own decisions. These standards were created based on the needs of the players and they also provide for a consistent approach across the country.
FORMAT CHANGES OBJECTIVES WHY 1. Fewer Players = More Touches 2. Build Confidence and Composure 3. Ratio of Players to Field Size 4. Easier Transition to 11v11 5. Better Integration into a Team
FORMAT CHANGES APPROACH Mini Field Field Size 30x20 (Max.) Goals 4 x 8 Four 8-minutes quarters 4v4 Players 8 and younger playing 4v4 need to develop basic motor skills such as walking, running and changing direction. A smaller space will help develop these skills while also providing more interaction with the ball, teammates and opponents.
FORMAT CHANGES APPROACH 7v7 Development Field Field Size 47x30 (Max.) Goals 6 x 18 w. Goalkeepers Two 25-minutes halves Offsides 9 and 10 year old players need to develop speed and agility. For this reason, 7v7 play happens on a larger field where there is more space to control the ball and encounter 1v1 situations.
FORMAT CHANGES APPROACH 9v9 Small Sided Field 6 x18 Goals w/goalkeepers Offsides Two 25-minute halves Max. Field Size 75x47 11 and 12 year olds need to develop coordination, balance and visual awareness. Increasing the number of players requires faster decision making so players can develop partnerships and game intelligence.
BIRTH YEAR REGISTRATION PLAYERS BORN 2010 U7 4v4 w/no GK Goals 4 x 8 Max. Field Size 30x20 Four 8-minutes quarters POTENTIAL CLUB CHANGES Pool (two teams combined for training) Roster size of approx. 14 (2 teams of 7) Play games back-to-back
BIRTH YEAR REGISTRATION PLAYERS BORN 2009 U8 4v4 w/no GK Goals 4 x 8 Max. Field Size 30x20 Four 8-minutes quarters POTENTIAL CLUB CHANGES Play 7v7 in U9Y With Goalkeepers Two 25-minute halves
BIRTH YEAR REGISTRATION PLAYERS BORN 2008 and PLAYERS BORN 2007 U9 U10 7v7 w. goalkeepers Field Size 47x30 (Max.) Goals 6 x 18 Two 25-minutes halves Offsides NEW* Build Out Lines

JAGUARS OVERVIEW BIRTH YEAR REGISTRATION??? AND FORMAT FAQS Can my son/daughter play up? How come my son/daughter has to move up 2 years? Will tryouts be handled the same way? What happens when two returning players have the same jersey numbers?
JAGUARS OVERVIEW FAQ S??? When will coaching placements be communicated? Have you looked at the numbers per birth year? Is my kid at a disadvantage due to never having played offsides, 11v11, or a certain positions? Are Technical Trainings by birth year? Will you send out this powerpoint presentation? Will next years coaches be at their teams birth year training?
