Rules for play. The aim of the sport is to move the Puck into opposition goal. Whites Vs Black's. Identifying your team. Rules for the day: No standing, no contact, only stick to touch puck, no free hand infringements. NB. How to hold the stick and push the puck Tog out and pool side equipment check Equipment check In Shallow end, check mask in water without fins. As players enter the water the Cork team check each person Check Snorkelling skills Shallow end, get all to face down in water, submerge until snorkel fills, surface and clear snorkel with face in the water. Split the group into 2 if there are some uncomfortable with snorkelling Warm up/swim test - Same every week: All players should be able to do this at their own pace. All should be doing this comfortably by the end of the 4 week course Group1 Swimming bumps pushing puck Group 2 Practice snorkelling technique Group 2. Standing in shallow in practice task above. Move into practicing swimming lengths, bumps with puck. (Prepare goals for game) Divide into 2/4 teams Short game Teams of 3 or 4 If enough for 4 teams, play across the pool and divide the pool into 2 playing areas. Use pucks for goals

2 For those who are struggling snorkelling, set aside an area to give more time for this Slow full lengths underwater (as time allows). Cool Down and breath control exercise tidy gear away and get informal feedback from attendees. Week 2 Task Note What are we doing tonight? 2. Any feedback from last week? Handout Finning technique & streamlining Diving Give a rundown of what is happening tonight. Explain the warm up (see below) Finning and diving technique. Talk through the handout. Discuss proper finning technique. Different cadence and amplitude. Identify those who are not comfortable with snorkelling and group them together. Repeat Rules of the game for tonight (See below) Tog out and pool side equipment check Warm up - Everyone Same every week

3 Diving technique - duck first. (demonstrate) This should be done without the use of arms/ hands. Get participants to practice with arms by their sides. Advanced drill ( if duck dive mastered quickly) Hook dive and neutral buoyancy Head first diving technique Body horizontal, face in the water. 2 kicks, drop head down and bend at the hips at 90 degs. Lift one leg and sink. Kick when fins have entered the water. look out for to correct. Using arms/ hands to dive. - keep arms by side or grasped together over head. finning air - practice sinking without kicking Puck Control/Team Work Game Using Magic Square: The player swam around the square to get use to moving the puck in different direction. Bobbing up and down and encouraging the players to get on the bottom of the pool Short game OneCork UWH to coach per team. 4 teams of 4 playing across the pool (if available). Encourage them to stay down a little past the comfort zone. Encourage moving around the square. Emphasis on minimising the free hand - using both sides of the stick.. Repeat: No standing, no contact, only stick to touch puck, no free hand infringements. If enough for 4 teams, play across the pool and divide the pool into 2 playing areas. Don t focus too much on tactics. More on encouraging players to get down. Swim around the back and push players forward who are too far back Tidy gear away and get feedback.

4 Week 3 Task Note What are we doing tonight? 2. Any feedback from last week? Handout - Rules of the game Explain body position and why we need it Tog out and pool side equipment check Warm up - Everyone Zig - Zag, Changing direction In groups of 4 players. The player will swim at 45deg towards the puck, Reaching the puck, the player pulls the puck back and changes direction (tru 90deg) towards the next puck.. complete the course and swim back to start position. Place pucks in a zig zag arrangement. The two lines of puck should be 2 lanes apart. Pull the puck back and push off at 45 deg v 2 game Concentrate on one breathe. Getting players to pay attention to who s subbing out. Practice subbing. Keeping the pace high and pairing new players with new players Game. Change teams/introduce subbing and basic positional play Repeat: No standing, no contact, only stick to touch puck, no free hand infringements. If enough for 4 teams, play across the pool and divide the pool into 2 playing areas Tidy up and feedback

5 Week 4 Task Note What are we doing tonight? 2. Any feedback from last week? Handout - Equipment list and rough prices Tog out and pool side equipment check Warm up - Everyone Front tackle In groups of 3 / 4 practice swimming with the puck. Both drop down using hook dive. Opp swims slowly with puck. Attacker uses the front tackle to gain possession. Speed up as they get better. (Prepare for change direction drill) Flicking drilling Flick while swimming. Break into groups = no of CUWH players. Practice step 1 of the flick. Look our for. Big wild, stick movements. The sawing action should be tight and controlled. Focus on using the arm to push the puck away (step 1 of the flick) only. Get players to flick at you, you flick back and the next player takes a turn.

6 v 2 game Concentrate on one breathe. Getting players to pay attention to who s subbing out. Practice subbing. Keeping the pace high and pairing new players with experienced players Game. Concentrate on zonal play. Divide players into positions. Continuation of last week Tidy up
