Special drillbook MAG.OLDRICH JINDRA
1 About The Book Welcome in the world of real coaches development Mag.Oldrich Jindra Dear ice hockey friends, I m vey proud to present the first special book for ice hockey coaches/managers. A lot of coaches ask about the drills and I give you here a key how to think about the drills, how to find good solutions for your teams and your athletes. Never use 1 drills like the most important part of the players development. See the drills like a truck on the highway. You need sense of the transport, you need oil, you need tyres, you need all that small things to keep the trucks movin. And that s the same with drills. Have fun with my drills!
2 In This Book About the book...1 In this book...2 Flow drills philosophy...3 Flow drills About Oldrich Jindra
3 Flow Drills Flow drills are neverending story. We have stories of our lives, we have stories of our carries, we have stories on the ice. Side changes, tactical changes, puck changes, it s about changes, neverending stories on the ice. Practice the game! To practice in flow we teach the players to control the speed, the drill, the game, also improve timing skills. I split flow drills into two groups: 1. drills, where the players independent to the other ones start the drill. It can be for example a space, where the players 3 have to start if the the previous one is there. 2. drills with space or players cooperation, the players follow that same routes, need to have good timing. For drills like this is imporant to have that same good skills.
Easy drill for passing, very simple and very often used drill in all levels team. It s just up to the coaches how the build this drill. Please, let the players stay for rebounds. 4
This drill could be done for lower number of players, also can be done like a physical drill with key-point to passing and skating (crossovers). 5
Passing, also skating drill, as soon as player no.5 playes the final cross pass, have to start. Don t stop to skate. 6
Player no.4 starts backwards and receives a pass, more passing in a small area and skating to the net. Simply drill for all levels. 7
Player no.4 starts to skate around the circle, double passing with no.5, than skates no.4 to the board, pass from no.5, as soon as no.5 played this pass in move does he start like a next one. 8
Skate with the pack (can be done just forwards or combination of backwards and forwards skating), pass to free player and get his position. 9
Player no.4 starts forwards and receives a long crosspass, forwards-backwards skating, pass to no.7 which one skated the circle take his position, keep eye contact with next starting player. 10
Bringing the game from the strong to the weak side, play the pass and take the position of player no.7. 11
Skate with the puck and play the pass to the skating no.7. Think about the timing, the leaders are always players without the puck, one pass creates successful attack. 12
Simple drill with one pass to the high player, than take his position. You have to start quickly behind the net like you would be under the pressure. 13
No.4 skates both circles, cross pass from no.5. Now, the best option for no.4 is to play the pass from the middle, pass to no.7, after that take his position. 14
Pass via boards, teach to play this passes, also to accept, than double passing with the last player in the group. Player which one played the board pass takes the position of waiting player. 15
That same form of previous drill, but now we have shooting player on that same side where this drill has started from. 16
Very nice drill for high level teams, where no.4 starts without the puck, pass from no.2, he skates backwards and pass to no.7, after that take his position. 17
We had already form of this drill, but now we keep it easier. As soon as no.4 played the pass and touched the blue line, he may start the next action. 18
That same form of the drill, now we have droppassing inside, communication, also great flow principles. 19
High level drill with small details that may make this drill great, but also can destroy this drill. No. starts and pass from no.5, droppass to no.7, after that no.4 takes the position of no.7. 20
Great drill with a lot of flow, also puck and side changes. Play hard passes, keep eye contact and be focused. 21
Skate the circle and receive the pass, play to the no.7 to go! By the drills we have to ask how to we want to play the game and this drill is about the game, that s what s about. 22
Now we have an another form of this drill. Started by no. 4 and no.7 on the same time. No.7 takes a puck in the corner, pass to no.4, pass back to no.7., no.4 takes a position on no.7. 23
4 About Oldrich Jindra And His Projects An ice hockey development is a run on big distance. But how far away is this distance? Is there any finish? For me is development as an athlete running the marathon. But no attendence, no lines, no rules, just running without taking a break for all his/her life. Oldrich Jindra is born on 23rd of August 1980 in Czech republic. Already while his study on the University of West Bohemia in Plzen became he the youngest professional coach in the Europe, later with 25.years the youngest head coach in the 24 world coaching a professional ice hockey team. In 2014 took Oldrich Jindra a big decision to start a new non-profit project called Oldrich Jindra coaching clinics with domain to support coaches and players.
