The original, stacking, balancing clowns. Are you ready for FUN? Something different than you ve ever played with before? Alright! Start balancing these remarkable little men - hook them on to each other, pile them up there s literally no end to the fascinating combinations you can make! You ll find suggestions galore in this booklet, but there are hundreds of other balancing acts you can make up yourself. And that s only half of it! Because after you ve experimented with the intriguing balancing stunts there are plenty of GAMES to play. Some of them are described in this booklet, and others you ll want to work out yourself using BILL DING, the CLOWNS, your own marbles, string, pencils, and paper. So here s wishing you hours of fun by yourself or with your friends. Ding, Ding here comes BILL DING! Part 1 (just to start you off!) Balancing Stunts Part 2 (just to add to the fun!) "bill ding" games Memory Magic Carpet Pencil Fun Marble Tunnel Round Up Circus Hide & Seek Pencil Fun High Race Head Stand Pushum Chopsticks Bill Ding Game Tokens Push Over Bill Ding Croquet
Part 1 (just to start you off!) Balancing Stunts Keep a few simple rules in mind when building with Bill Ding and his clowns. Build on a smooth, level surface. Keep your figure in balance by adding to both sides of your structure at the same time. To build large figures requires a steady hand,. perfect alignment of clowns, and careful balancing. BILL DING is the smartest one, the leader of the clowns. It s a good idea to start building with him each time. There is no limit to the stunts that you can make BILL DING and his clowns do. The more clowns you have, the more difficult stunts they will do for you! 4 BILL DING - Balancing Stunts BILL DING - Balancing Stunts 5

Part 2 (just to add to the fun!) "BIll ding" games (for any number of players) memory This is fun for a party or when there s a group of six or more. Players are seated in a circle, each with a clown in his hand. One player starts by passing his clown to the next player, saying, My name is Wiggums (choose any fun name you want to!) The second player takes Wiggums and his own clown and passes both to the third player, saying My name is Wiggums, and this is Joe (or any other name you choose.) The third player then adds his clown and passes them all to the next player, saying My name is Wiggums, and this is Joe, and this is Mary... etc. Naturally, you try to remember all of the names in order and make the introductions correctly. If you fail, you drop out of the game, and the next person tries to go from where you left off. The winner is the last player who can repeat, in proper order, all the names that have been given. (a test of skill) (for amateur players) magic carpet This is a test of skill you can try on your friends! Give them a sheet of paper (standard 8.5 x 11 ) and ask them to stand a clown on it then take the paper away without touching the clown or tipping him over. It can only be done if the clown is placed near the far edge and the paper is pulled away very quickly. You should specify that the clown must face the player directly; if it is turned sideways, the stunt is too easy. pencil fun 8 BILL DING - Balancing Games Place a clown on a sheet of drawing paper and trace around the edge with a pencil. Then inside the drawn outline, copy the clown s face and clothes, then color with your paints or crayons. See who can make the best copy! If you trace your clowns on cardboard, you can cut them out and stand them up. Give some of them different kinds of clown suits, with brightly colored stripes or polka dots. BILL DING - Games 9
marble tunnel (test your skill) (fun for one) Round-up On a smooth surface, set up the clowns in a large circle, all facing in; then lay a long piece of string in a circle outside the clown s circle and slowly pull it towards you. If you are careful, and if the clowns have been evenly spaced to begin with, they will come together in a perfect circle. Use your marbles for this one! Line up seven clowns, one immediately behind the other, to form a tunnel between their feet. About six inches beyond the tunnel s end, stand 2 clowns on their heads, side by side, as shown in the picture above. Then, from a starting point six inches in front of the tunnel opening, shoot your marble at the tunnel. The object is to get your marble through the tunnel and knock down the clowns at the end. Another way to make a round-up is to place the clowns in a straight line an inch or two apart, thread the string through their legs, then slowly and carefully pull the ends of the string together. (use your imagination) Turn the Bill Ding box upside-down and it will make a fine stage on which to put BILL DING and his clowns through their paces. Set up your best balancing stunts on it to entertain your friends. (for any number of players) circus hide & seek BILL DING and his clowns like to be searched for! Send the other players out of the room and hide the ten clowns under sofa cushions, behind books, beneath chairs, and anywhere else that might be a good hiding place. The winner is the person who finds the most clowns. pencil fun It s fun, too, to place a marble on each shoulder of a clown and see if (for amateur players) you can bump the marbles off by shooting another marble at the clown (without knocking over the clown). Place a clown on a sheet of drawing paper and trace around the edge with a pencil. 10 BILL DING - Games BILL DING - Games 11
3 high race (for two are more players) pushum (for any number of players) Each player takes three clowns and balances them in a single row of three-high, one on the shoulders of another. Then, holding the bottom clown only and balancing the other two on top, the players walk to a chosen point (like a wall, chair, counter, etc) and back again to the starting line without dropping a clown or touching one with their other hand. (If any of the balanced clowns tumble, the player must pick them up and re-stack them three-high before continuing.) For this game you need a smooth surface and some pencils of equal length, one for each player. The object is to move your clown to a given goal by pushing him with the pencil only. The clown must stay standing on his feet, of course, and facing the goal line, not sideways. If he tips over, you must move him back one pencil length before going on with the race. Each player pushes his own clown. A piece of string laid along the floor makes a great goal line. head stand (for one player) The clowns like to stand on their heads but they need you to help them. You can balance two or more on their heads by leaning them shoulder to shoulder. If you are careful, you should be able to balance all nine in this upside-down manner. It takes practice and a steady hand. It s a good way to develop skill try it! HINT: You ll get the best results by giving little short pushes on the clown s feet. 12 BILL DING - Games BILL DING - Games 13
chopsticks (by yourself or in competition) (just what the game implies) push-over Careful with this one it s tricky! The object is to move three clowns from one balanced pile to another by means of two pencils. Hold a pencil in each hand and lift the clowns, one by one, by placing the pencils under the clowns hands. Remember, you take the clowns off one pile and build them on another, all balanced upright. If your hands are very steady, maybe you can do this stunt with four or more clowns! bill ding game tokens (an amusing substitution) If you have board games in which pawns or tokens are used, you can substitute the clowns for the game pieces, moving them around the board in place of the original men. In this way you can add amusing situations to your favorite board games. Stand the clowns in a row, all facing the same way, each about three inches apart. Give the head man, BILL DING, a push and watch all the others follow the leader. (With two sets, it s even more fun!) (for a rainy day) bill ding croquet Play croquet any day with BILL DING and his clowns. Choose a two-foot by four-foot space in the middle of the floor and set up your men in wicket locations just as on a croquet court. Use marbles for balls, and instead of a mallet shoot with your thumbs and forefingers (like playing marbles). You can do everything you do in outdoor croquet even shooting your opponent s marble, spacing off, and getting two extra shots for a hit! 14 BILL DING - Games BILL DING - Games 15
