Depart on left lead, build to the extended lope around the arena down through the center 5. Change leads 6. Right lead around the other half of the arena 7. Break to the trot and trot over logs 8. Stop, 180 turn to the right, 270 turn to the left 9. Extended trot serpentine through the cones 10. Break to the walk and exit at the walk NOTE: The drawn description of this pattern is only intended for the general depiction of the pattern. Contestants should utilize the arena space to best exhibit their horses.

6 OPTIONAL VRH AND RHC RANCH RIDING PATTERN & 6 2 & 10 1 When establishing the course, the following distances are suggested. Patterns may begin in either direction and markers are optional. 1. Extended Walk from 1 to 2-75 feet 2. Trot from 2 to feet 3. Extended Trot from 3 to feet 4. Lope from 4 to feet 5. Stop at 5; reverse (either direction) 6. Walk from 6 to 7-30 feet 7. Lope from 7 to feet 8. Extended Lope from 8 to feet 9. Trot from 9 to feet 10. Stop and Back at 10 - approximately one horse length Extended Walk Trot Extended Trot

7 REINING PATTERN 9-OPEN 1. Run past the center marker and do a sliding stop. Back up to the center of the arena or at least 10 feet (3 meters). Hesitate. 2. Complete four spins to the right. 3. Complete four and one-quarter spins to the left so that horse is facing the left wall or fence. Hesitate. 4. Beginning on the left lead, complete three circles to the left: the first circle small and slow; the next two circles large and fast. Change leads at the center of the arena. 5. Complete three circles to the right: the first circle small and slow; the next two circles large and fast. Change leads at the center of the arena. 6. Begin a large circle to the left but do not close this circle. Run up the right side of the arena past the center marker and do a right rollback at least 20 feet (6 meters) from the wall or fence - no hesitation. 7. Continue back around the previous circle but do not close this circle. Run up the left side of the arena past the center marker and do a left rollback at least 20 feet (6 meters) from the wall or fence - no hesitation. 8. Continue back around previous circle but do not close this circle. Run up right side of the arena past the center marker and do a sliding stop at least 20 feet (6 meters) from the wall or fence. 8 REINING PATTERN 5-YOUTH & AMATEUR Horse must walk or stop prior to starting pattern. Beginning at the center of the arena facing the left wall or fence. 1. Beginning on the left lead, complete three circles to the left: the first two circles large and fast; the third circle small and slow. Stop at the center of the arena. 2. Complete four spins to the left. Hesitate. 3. Beginning on the right lead, complete three circles to the right: the first two circles large and fast; the third circle small and slow. Stop at the center of the arena. 4. Complete four spins to the right. Hesitate. 5. Beginning on the left lead, run a large fast circle to the left, change leads at the center of the arena, run a large fast circle to the right, and change leads at the center of the arena. (Figure 8) 6. Continue around previous circle to the left but do not close this circle. Run up the right side of the arena past the center marker and do a right rollback at least 20 feet (6 meters) from the wall or fence - no hesitation. 7. Continue around previous circle but do not close this circle. Run up the left side of the arena past the center marker and do a left rollback at least 20 feet (6 meters) from the wall or fence - no hesitation. 8. Continue back around previous circle but do not close this circle. Run up the right side of the arena past the center marker and do a sliding stop at least 20 feet (6 meters) from the wall or fence. At the marker, slow the jog and continue to the judge 6. Stop and set up for inspection 7. After inspection pivot 90* and trot away. Pattern is complete.

At the Marker, slow the trot and continue to the judge 6. Stop and set up for inspection 7. After inspection pivot 90* and trot away. Pattern is complete

13 EQUITATION-Rookie, L1 Youth and L1 Amateur, 13 & Under 1. Begin at a sitting trot to and around the first marker before taking the left diagonal 2. At the Marker, begin on the right lead 3. At the marker, Change leads 4. Continue on the left lead and perform a square corner 5. After making the turn, break to the trot on the right diagonal 6. Stop and back one horse length 7. Pattern is complete. Exit at the trot

14 EQUITATION- Youth 14-18, Amateur and Amateur Select 1. Sit Trot to the first marker 2. Leg yield to the left at the sitting trot 3. Pick up the right lead and hand gallop a circle, collecting the canter before changing leads 4. Change leads and perform a square corner on the left lead 5. After turning the corner break to a trot on the right diagonal 6. Halt and Back one horse length 7. Pattern is complete. Exit at a trot
