4 1.0 OVERVIEW The sector light consists of a stainless steel housing which contains the optical system consisting of a LED light source, condenser optics, color filters, cooling fans, daylight sensor and electronic circuit board. The electronic circuit board controls the LED lamp current/voltage for both day and night intensity. Provisions are made to adjust direction and elevation of the beam. 2.0 PURPOSE/SCOPE This instruction manual provides information regarding installation, operation, and maintenance of the LED TSL 100 sector lights. 3.0 GENERAL SAFETY: WARNING! Mounting, commissioning and maintenance of sector light systems should be done by skilled personnel equipped with personal protection equipment (protection glasses, gloves, etc). Smoking and open fire is prohibited while operating this light. WARNING! Note to avoid a short circuit, the battery wiring should first be disconnected before any other work is made. CAUTION! When working on a system powered by batteries and charged by solar cells, only non sparking tools should be used. During charging and decharging of lead acid batteries explosive hydrogen gas can be produced. Before any work activities are performed, it must be verified that no explosive mixture is present. Careless procedures can lead to short-circuits with high currents, which can cause fire, explosion and personal injury. NOTE: High Powered LED Sector lights produce an extremely intense and concentrated light source and direct viewing of the beam of the sector light should be avoided. Tideland Signal Page 3 of 30 Rev. 5 4.0 UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS The LED sector light is placed in a wooden box, under which provisions are made to transport by means of a forklift. The forks of the forklift must be long enough to carry the box entirely. If other means of transport are necessary special attention must be given not to damage the system. Total weight of the LED Sector light is approx. 80kg. 5.0 INSTALLATION/SETUP Figure 1 When hoisting the LED sector light to its position, special attention must be given not to damage the TSL Please bear in mind that the sector light is a sensitive type of equipment which can easily be damaged. Hoist the Sector light to its position and bolt it to the structure by means of hardware that can fit the application. When choosing your mounting hardware, please be aware of the limitations set by: Size of the mounting structure on which the will be placed Mounting slot sizes of the Equipment surrounding the installation Direction of the Other restrictions as observed at site Tideland Signal Page 4 of 30 Rev. 6 6.0 CONNECTING POWER Remove the cover by unscrewing the twelve (12) bolts on the back cover of the Figure 2 The left gland is used for the power cable. The right gland side is for the sun switch. Figure 3 Tideland Signal Page 5 of 30 Rev. B 17-Oct-17

7 1) Uncover the internal junction box by removing the 4 screws. 2) Connect power to terminals according to the diagram in Section To determine the wire sizes, please check with your local regulations. Ensure that a minimum 10 Ampere supply is used for testing. Check operation of the two cooling fans and ensure that the LED is illuminated Figure 4 Often the sun switch is used to control power during night and day. To check its operation, connect the lantern to a power source and hold a bright light to the sun switch. The should show the brightest beam. Cover the sun switch and the beam should dim. 7.0 ALIGNING THE SECTOR LIGHT CAUTION: High Powered LED Sector lights produce an extremely intense and concentrated light source and direct viewing in the beam of the sector light should be avoided. 8 1) Loosen the swivel bolts under the sector light slightly to the point where the lantern can be moved up or down. Screw or unscrew the adjusting nuts on the telescopic arm under the housing of the lantern that will set the elevation angle. Figure 5 2) Adjust the elevation angle and direction of the beam so that the crosshairs of the telescopic sight are at bridge height and center of the channel at maximum range. 9 8.0 SETTING COLOR SECTORS The sector light angles are not set at the factory. Field adjustments described in Section 10.0 should be followed to achieve the desired angles. 1) Untighten the 12 screws which secure the back cover of the housing as show in Figure 2. 2) Remove the cover, untighten the lock nut of the sector filter adjustment screw, and adjust the sector screw to the desired position. Clockwise = more colored sector Counter clockwise = less colored sector Tighten the lock nut after the desired width is reached. Repeat for the sector on the other side. 10 9.0 SETTING SECTOR FILTERS Color filters are shipped per the configuration specified in the sales order. 1) To exchange the color filters, remove the four bolts which are circled with red on the photo. Figure 8 2) With those bolts out it is possible to slide the filter out. Carefully slide the filters out, make sure the glass doesn't touch the metal when it comes out. 11 3) There are two sides to the filter, front and back. Make sure the glass is closest to the light source, as shown in Figure 10. Glass Side Figure 10 Figure 11 4) Carefully slide the filters (Figure 11) back in, make sure the glass doesn't touch the metal. 5) Reattach the four screws when the filters are in place. 12 10.0 FIELD INSTALLATON ADJUSTEMENT Equipment Needed: Vessel/Boat with GPS and two way radio to stay in contact with the technician at the sector light location. GPS coordinates of the center of the channel at desired range. GPS coordinates of the point where the white sector should switch to green at GPS coordinates of the point where the white sector should switch to red at Procedure: 1. Position a vessel at the GPS coordinates of the center of the channel at the desired range. 2. Upon arrival, keep the vessel in this position and inform the technician at the sector light location. 3. Adjust the elevation angle of the sector light and direction of the beam so that the crosshairs of the telescopic sight are at bridge height and seek visual confirmation from the vessel on the other side of the channel. 4. After adjustment of elevation and direction, tighten all bolts. 5. Position the vessel at the GPS coordinates of the point where the white sector should switch to green at the desired range. 6. Upon arrival, keep the vessel in position and inform the technician at the sector light location if the sector is properly visible. 7. Make adjustments to the sector light alignment if necessary. 8. Position the vessel at the GPS coordinates of the point where the white sector should switch to red at maximum range. 9. Upon arrival, keep the vessel in position and inform the technician at the sector light location. 10. Make adjustments to the sector light alignment if necessary. 11. 13 11.0 REPAIR/MAINTENANCE CAUTION: Do not use the following substances on surfaces of the sector light: Acetone, alcohol, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, fire extinguisher fluid, dry cleaning fluid, lacquer thinner, pumice soaps, or kitchen scouring compounds. Inspect the system annually for damage. Any housing damage must be promptly repaired or replaced to minimize internal corrosion. Inspect electrical wiring for corrosion and loose contacts. The typical routine maintenance interval for the system is once per year. The LED sector light should be cleaned as required by local conditions (once a year as a minimum.) The Radial Fans are running 24/7 to keep the LED in optimal conditions. Therefore the radial fans need to be replaced every 6 years. Contact Tideland Signal for replacement parts TO CLEAN Use a soft cloth or soft bristle brush, wash the sector light housing. After wetting, remove any caked dirt or mud with the hand, not with any instrument or scraper and rinse with clear water. Remove grease or oil using hexane or kerosene. Wash with a mild non-abrasive soap or detergent and dry TROUBLE SHOOTING Following is a guide for field troubleshooting the sector light system MECHANICAL VERIFICATION Verify that all bolts are firmly tightened. Verify that all cables are intact and that all connections are firmly seated and that polarity is according the electrical diagram. Verify all wiring CONFIGURATION VERIFICATION Verify flash code which is factory set to ISO4s. Tideland Signal Page 12 of 30 Rev. B 17-Oct-17

14 13.3 ELECTRICAL VERIFICATION Verify that the power supply voltage is within range of 24 to 30 volt DC. Check the proper working of the sector light by switching the day-night sensor. Verify that both forced air cooling fans are running TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS Verify supply voltage volt DC. If power is applied to the sector light verify that the two cooling fans are running; check by covering the daylight sensor to make sure the sector light is switching to night intensity. If not, replace daylight sensor. If the LED lamp still does not emit any light, replace the electronic circuit. Verify that both forced air cooling fans are running. If not, replace cooling fans. Warning malfunction of the day-night sensor and/or cooling fan can result in damage to the TSL SPECIFICATIONS Application Sector light. 16 16.0 INFRARED REMOTE CONTROL 16.1 Overview The infrared remote control Tideland P.N makes it possible to configure and read the navigation lights status from a distance. It is also possible to manage more than one navigation light with this remote control. The remote control or the navigation lights don t have a special distinguishing mark. Not everyone using the remote control should be able to change the settings, and therefore settings are secured by a pin code (4 numbers). For receiving settings and lantern test option no pin code is required. 17 TROUBLESHOOTING The infrared Remote control does not work; Push on TV Button and then on Menu to get in the menu Replace battery's (2xAAA) Clean infrared eye of the remote control with a damp cloth UV/Sun light can interfere the Infrared signal of the remote, make sure that direct UV/Sun light is blocked between the lantern and the remote control. Please note: User error may cause the lantern to malfunction or cease to function. 18 16.3 PROGRAMMING THE LANTERN To begin programming the different settings, aim the remote control at the receiver in the lantern. The MENU button must be pressed for 2 seconds to access the programming menu of the lantern. When the lantern sees this it will give 4 short flashes. If this doesn t happen press the MENU button again. If the lantern does not respond, the remote control may be in the wrong mode setting. Press the TV button to put the remote in the correct mode setting. When the lantern has given 4 short flashes, begin programming. Near 12 seconds the lantern will automatically exit the menu. In order to program again, you will have to press the MENU button again. While in the menu mode, the lantern gives a short flash for each button pressed. When the lantern accepts a code entered it will give two flashes. The lantern will give 4 short flashes when it does NOT accept the code; it then returns to the main menu mode SET CHARACTER With this choice it is possible to change the character of the lantern. The character value has to lie between 000 and 221 and will always have 3 numbers. With this setting, the 4 numbered pin code is needed. For example: Press the MENU button The lantern will give 4 short flashes Now press the 3 numbered character code, for character 34 press after every number the lantern will give a short flash. Now, enter the 4 numbered pin code After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. The lantern will go out of menu mode near 12 seconds. The character is now programmed. 19 RECEIVE BATTERY VOLTAGE With this option it is possible to receive the battery voltage of the power supply, which is connected to the lantern. The code for receiving the voltage is 881. The voltage value can be seen in flashes and will always contain 3 numbers. The lantern divides the voltage value in 3 pieces. When the voltage is, for example, 12.6 volts the lantern divides the value in To receive the value, press the PROG+ button. The first time the button is pressed the lantern will give the first piece of its value in flashes. In this example, the value is 1, the lantern gives 1 flash. When the PROG+ button is pressed again, the lantern will give its second piece of its value in flashes. In this example, the value is 2 so the lantern will give 2 flashes. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will give its third piece of value. In this example, the value is 6, so the lantern will give 6 flashes. The received date is 126 that means 12.6 Volts. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will return to its menu. For example: the voltage is 10.7V Press the MENU button. The lantern will give 4 short flashes. Now press After each number is pressed, the lantern will give a short flash. After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press the PROG + button. The lantern will give 1 flash. Press the PROG + button again. The lantern will give no flashes. Press the PROG + button again. The lantern will give 7 flashes. When the PROG + button is pressed again the lantern will give 4 short flashes and the lantern will return to its menu Tideland Signal Page 18 of 30 Rev. B 17-Oct-17

20 RECEIVE LED CURRENT With this option it is possible to receive the setting of the LED current. The code for receiving the current is 882. The LED current setting can be seen in flashes and will always contain 3 numbers. The lantern divides the LED current value in 3 pieces. When the LED current is, for example, 250mA - the lantern divides the value in When we want to read the value we need to press the PROG+ button. The first time the button is pressed the lantern will give the first piece of its value in flashes. The value is 2 so the lantern gives 2 flashes. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will give its second piece of its value in flashes. The value is 5 so the lantern will give 5 flashes. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will give its third piece of value. The value is 0 so the lantern will give no flashes. So the battery voltage is 250mA. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will return to its menu. For example: the LED current is 300mA Press the MENU button. The lantern will give 4 short flashes. Now press After each number is pressed, the lantern will give a short flash. After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press the PROG + button. The lantern will give 3 flashes. Press the PROG + button again. The lantern will give no flashes. Press the PROG + button again. The lantern will give no flashes. 21 RECEIVE LDR VALUE With this option it is possible to receive the value of the LDR. The code for receiving the LDR value is 883. The LDR can be seen in flashes and will always contain 3 numbers and lies between 0(light) and 255(dark). The lantern divides the LDR value in 3 pieces. When the LDR value for example is 128 the lantern divides the value in When we want to read the value we need to press the PROG+ button. The first time the PROG+ button is pressed the lantern will give the first piece of its value in flashes. The value is 1 so the lantern gives 1 flash. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will give its second piece of its value in flashes. The value is 2 so the lantern will give 2 flashes. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will give its third piece of value. The value is 8 so the lantern will give 8 flashes. So the LDR value is 128. When the PROG+ button is pressed again the lantern will return to its menu. For example: the LDR value is 089 Press the MENU button. The lantern will give 4 short flashes. Now press After each number is pressed, the lantern will give a short flash. After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press the PROG + button. The lantern will give no flashes. Press the PROG + button again. The lantern will give 8 flashes. Press the PROG + button again. The lantern will give 9 flashes. 22 LANTERN TEST With this option the lantern will flash for a minute in its current character. The code for the lantern test is 884. For example: Press the MENU button. The lantern will give 4 short flashes. Now press After each number is pressed, the lantern will give a short flash. After the last number is entered, the lantern will start flashing for a minute SET LED CURRENT With this option it is possible to change the LED current of the lantern. The LED current value always contains 3 numbers. The code for setting the LED current is 885. The Led current can be set from 1mA up to 900mA and will always contain 3 numbers. With this setting, the 4 numbered pin code is needed. For example: set LED current on 550mA. Press the MENU button The lantern will give 4 short flashes Press After each number is pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now enter the 4 numbered pin code. After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. The LED current is now set to 550mA. 23 SET DAY/NIGHT OFF SWITCH With this option it is possible to change the day/night off switch point of the lantern. The code for setting the day/night off switch point is 886. The day/night off switch point is the point when the lantern stops to give light signals. This value has to lie between 0 and 255 and will always contain 3 numbers. With this setting, the 4 numbered pin code is needed. When for example the value is 200, the lantern will stop flashing when the LDR measures 200. For example: set day/night off switch point on 150. Press the MENU button The lantern will give 4 short flashes Press After each number is pressed the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now enter the 4 numbered pin code. After each number is pressed the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press After each number is pressed the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered the lantern will give 2 flashes. The day/night off switch point is now set to 150. Switch-ON Point needs to be higher than the Switch-Off point SET DAY/NIGHT ON SWITCH With this option it is possible to change the day/night on switch point of the lantern. The code for setting the day/night on switch point is 887. The day/night on switch point is the point when the lantern starts to give light signals. This value has to lie between 0 and 255 and will always contain 3 numbers. With this setting, the 4 numbered pin code is needed. When for example the value is 220, the lantern will start flashing when the LDR measures 220. For example: set day/night on switch point on 170. 24 After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now enter the 4 numbered pin code. After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press After each number is pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. The day/night on switch point is now set to 170 Switch-ON Point needs to be higher than the Switch-Off point SET LOAD OFF POINT With this option it is possible to change the load off point of the lantern. The code for setting the load off point is 890. The load off point is the point when the lantern stops giving light signals because the battery runs empty. This value will always contain 4 numbers. With this setting you will need the 4 numbered pin code. For example: set load off point on Volts. Press the MENU button The lantern will give 4 short flashes Press After each number is pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now enter the 4 numbered pin code. After each number is pressed the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press After each number is pressed the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. The load off point is now set to Volts. 25 SET LOAD ON POINT With this option it is possible to change the load on point of the lantern. The code for setting the load on point is 891. The load on point is the point when the lantern starts giving light signals because the battery is charged enough for proper working. This value will always contain 4 numbers. With this setting, the 4 numbered pin code is needed. For example: set load on point on Volts. Press the MENU button The lantern will give 4 short flashes Press After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now enter the 4 numbered pin code. After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is pressed, the lantern will give 2 flashes. The load on point is now set to Volts SET LANTERN IN CONTINUOUS FLASH MODE (24 HOUR MODE) With this option it is possible to let the lantern flash day and night. (The lantern will still use the photocell settings to switch between day and night mode, so it is possible to decrease the light output at night-time.) The code for this option is 894. The value is 1 for ON and 0 for OFF With this setting the 4 numbered pin code is needed. For example: set the lantern in Continuous flash mode Press the MENU button The lantern will give 4 short flashes Press Tideland Signal Page 24 of 30 Rev. B 17-Oct-17

26 After each number pressed the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now enter the 4 numbered pin code. After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. Now press 1 for continuous flash mode ON (press 0 for OFF) After 1 is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. The lantern will now flash 24/ SET LED CURRENT DAYTIME/NIGHTTIME (24 HOUR MODE) (Use this settings only when continuous flash mode is turned ON) As said before, in continuous flash mode the lantern will still use the photocell settings to switch between day and night modes. So it is possible to decrease the light output at night-time, if the change in light output is unwanted, set the day and night current at the same value. The code for these settings are: 885 for daytime LED current 892 for nighttime LED current With this setting, the 4 numbered pin code is needed. For example: set nighttime current on 100mA Press the MENU button The lantern will give 4 short flashes Press (Night time) After each number pressed, the lantern will give a short flash After the last number is entered, the lantern will give 2 flashes. When the lantern goes back to a position above the specified angle, the counter counts again to the specified value. If the counter reaches that value the lantern will turn back on. The code for setting the tilt angle is 902. The timer can be set from 2 up to 120 minutes and will always contain 3 numbers. With this setting you will need the 4 numbered pin code. For example: set timer at 12 minutes. 1. Press the MENU button. 2. The lantern will give 4 short flashes. 3. Press After each number you press the lantern will give a short flash. 5. After you entered the last number the lantern will give 2 flashes. 6. Now you can enter your 4 numbered pin code. 7. After each number you press the lantern will give a short flash. 8. After you entered the last number the lantern will give 2 flashes. 9. Now press After each number you press the lantern will give a short flash. 11.
