1 GTTAP2019 Rules and Regulations Article 1. The Organiser Asociación Turística y Empresarial del Valle de Benasque and Prames, with the sponsorship of Trangoworld and the technical advice of Peña Guara, are the Organisers of the GRAN TRAIL TRANGOWORLD ANETO-POSETS made up of five races: Gran Trail Aneto-Posets, Vuelta al Aneto, Maratón de las Tucas, Vuelta al Pico Cerler and Vuelta al Molino de Cerler. Article 2. Feed stations The Gran Trail Aneto-Posets, the Vuelta al Aneto, the Maratón de las Tucas and the Vuelta al Pico Cerler are semi selfsufficient races (with this term understood to mean that the number of feed stations requires runners to carry their own food and drink for the sections between feed stations). There will be feed stations with liquids and solid food at several checkpoints. The Organiser requires each participant to carry the food that they deem necessary for a semi self-sufficient race, with their race number marked on the packaging. The checkpoints that are found inside the refuges staffed by the Aragonese Mountaineering Association (FAM) will have showers and bunk beds available for the runners to rest and wash up. There will be a feed station at the finish line for all runners. Article 3. Signposting, map and Route Book. Race routes will be signposted using the Organiser s markers and, where appropriate, by the waymarkers of the PR and GR footpaths. The most dangerous areas, as well as crossings and diversions where it is possible to get lost, will be particularly marked. A map will be handed out to all runners with the route, mandatory checkpoints for each course, medical stations and possible points of return to Benasque. The Route Book with the most relevant aspects of each section of the courses, as well as GPS tracking for each course on the website, will be provided. Article 4. Checkpoints (CP) Runners, under their own responsibility, are required to pass through the CPs and verify their passage using the timing system corresponding to each control. CPs are clearly visible and manned by the Organiser s volunteers. It is mandatory that all runners wear the number on the front visible when passing through the PCs so that the volunteers can take note of the passage of all the runners. All CPs are mandatory and not passing through them will lead to disqualification. Runners are responsible for having their passage through each CP recorded, whether using the electronic system or showing or announcing their race numbers to the volunteers depending on the system used at each checkpoint. Runners who wish to withdraw must notify the Organiser of their withdrawal at any checkpoint or at the finish line. Article 5. Safety in the race At certain points on the course and at the checkpoints, the Organiser will place specialised marshals in charge of ensuring the safety of the runners. It is mandatory to follow the instructions given by them, who will be duly identified as such. Should any participant wish to withdraw, they must notify the Organiser s staff as soon as possible. Medical staff and ambulances will be found at strategic points along the course if necessary.

2 With the drop bag, a topographic map by Prames with the route, checkpoints, medical stations and possible points of return to Benasque will also be provided. Should weather conditions so require it, there is an alternative course, which will be duly notified to all runners during the technical briefing. In case of unfavourable weather conditions or for safety reasons, the Organiser reserves the right to stop the race, modify its course or change the cut-off times. There is also a rescue and evacuation plan in place if necessary, coordinated by the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) of the Guardia Civil. A sweep team in charge of closing the race will check that all runners have passed. In any case, RUNNERS SHOULD KNOW THAT: This is a high-mountain race, which often goes off-trail. Snowfields, scree slopes and rocky areas which can be slippery are crossed, that is to say, highly technical areas which slow down the speed of the race, so runners must have the necessary skill to move in this terrain. There may be sections with fixed ropes, depending on the Organiser s decision. The orography of the terrain, the weather conditions or any other circumstances can mean that fast evacuation via air is impossible, and although there will be checkpoints and specialist marshals throughout the course, it is possible that a withdrawal or a rescue may be long and difficult. This is another reason why all runners must have suitable personal kit (see the mandatory kit list). Article 6. Safety rules When night falls, it is mandatory to switch on the head torch and the rear position light (a red rear bicycle light will do). This must be placed on the back of the rucksack so that it is visible for the runners behind. It is mandatory to follow the instructions given at the checkpoints and the security forces working with the Organiser (GREIM of the Guardia Civil and the Fire Brigade). It is mandatory to help a fellow runner in need. The Organiser may pull out a runner from the competition and remove their race number, should they deem the runner s physical or technical abilities compromised due to fatigue and exhaustion during the race. This is to ensure the runner s safety. Should the runner once their race number has been removed decide to continue anyway, it will only be under their sole responsibility, and this decision will have nothing to do with the race and its Organiser. The Organiser reserves the right to organise the runners into groups during the race for safety reasons. Article 7. Safety cut-off times Cut-off times will be established to ensure the safety of runners and the race organiser s staff. Runners who go beyond these cut-off times will not be allowed to continue in the competition. The safety cut-off times will be published on the website, on the Route Book, and on the race map. Article 8. Abandonment and return to Benasque The Organiser will provide points of return to Benasque at the following checkpoints, while always bearing in mind the difficulties and limitations inherent to the communications infrastructure of the different points: on the one hand, Baños de Benasque, Llanos del Hospital, La Besurta, Coronas refuge, Cerler and Eriste are points from which the return to Benasque does not involve much difficulty due to its proximity; and on the other hand, Llauset dam and Biadós refuge, from where the return is more complex and takes more time, as these points are located in distant valleys where travel is much more complicated. Runners who abandon the race at any of these points must notify the checkpoint captain. They will be taken to Benasque as soon as possible, giving priority to the needs of those being moved.

3 Those who abandon the race are required to notify the Organiser, whether at a checkpoint or by contacting the Organiser using the telephone number shown on the map and the race number provided to the runners. Should an evacuation be necessary due to an accident or injury which prevents the runner from reaching one of the points of return, the Organiser must be informed by all possible means, contacting marshals at the CP or safety assistance staff to initiate a rescue operation. The Gran Trail Aneto-Posets runners must activate the SOS button on the SPOT device, which will directly alert the Organiser and provide them with the runner s location to organise evacuation. Article 9. Requirements for runners Be 18 years old the reference year for the Aneto-Posets Grand Trail, the Aneto Tour, the Tucas Marathon and the Cerler Peak Tour. Having completed the reference year for the Vuelta al Molino de Cerler 15 years old. To know and agree to the terms and conditions of these rules and regulations. To register for the Gran Trail Aneto-Posets, runners should demonstrate having finished a mountain race of at least 55 km and 3600 m of elevation gain in 2017, 2018 or 2019 (as proof of this, it is necessary to include the link to the webpage showing the official results of this race in the Qualifying link section of the registration form; to make it easier to find this information, include race number and final ranking). If this race is scheduled to be completed in 2019, it is possible to complete registration first and send the link afterwards, provided that it is sent before 1 July 2019 to inscripciones@trail-aneto.com. To register for the Vuelta al Aneto, runners should demonstrate having finished a mountain race of at least 42 km and 2000 m of elevation gain in 2017, 2018 or 2019 (as proof of this, it is necessary to include the link to the webpage showing the official results of this race in the Qualifying link section of the registration form; to make it easier to find this information, include race number and final ranking). If this race is scheduled to be completed in 2019, it is possible to complete registration first and send the link afterwards, provided that it is sent before 1 July 2019 to inscripciones@trail-aneto.com. Article 10. Race numbers and identity bracelets Runners must wear the race numbers provided by the Organiser at all times and show them to the Organiser s volunteers at the checkpoints. Race numbers cannot be cut, folded or modified in any way. When picking up the race number and the drop bag, the Organiser will place an identity bracelet on each runner, which should be worn by them during the entire weekend in order to enable proper identification. Article 11. Competition categories Gran Trail Aneto-Posets and Vuelta al Aneto: General category: male and female, 18 years old and above in Veteran A Subcategory: male and female, between 40 and 50 years old who are not yet 51 years old in Veteran B Subcategory: male and female, 51 years old and above in Maratón de las Tucas and Vuelta al Pico Cerler: General category: 18 years old and above in Youth Subcategory: 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 years old, that is, who are not yet 24 years old in Veteran A Subcategory: male and female, between 40 and 50 years old who are not yet 51 years old in Veteran B Subcategory: male and female, 51 years old and above in 2017.

Article 12. Team competition There will be team competition for the Gran Trail Aneto-Posets and the Vuelta al Aneto. There will be a classification for teams which will have 2 or 3 runners in the same race. The aim is to give added safety, as team members can help each other. The members of the team must go together at all times. If any team member withdraws or the team disbands right in the middle of the race for any reason, each team member may still continue competing, but only as an individual. They will no longer be eligible as a team. Team registration will only be possible for runners who have already registered individually. Team registration will open once the deadline for individual registrations has passed, a few days before the race. Article 13. Trophies and gift raffle Trophies will be awarded to the first 3 riders of each category and subcategory of each race, both male and female. A trophy will be awarded to the first 3 teams of the Aneto-Posets Grand Trail and the Vuelta al Aneto. Article 14. Mandatory Kit Each runner must have the mandatory kit listed below. Although the list may seem very long, please bear in mind that most of the kit required is to ensure the safety of runners. Given the high-mountain terrain over which the races will take place, significant changes in the weather may occur (torrential rains, hail, snow) and, should an evacuation take much longer than expected and night falls, runners must have their own resources ready. For the Gran Trail Aneto-Posets, runners will be required to wear the SPOT Satellite Messenger, which will be provided by the Organiser for safety reasons. Runners who lose this personal tracker must reimburse the Organiser for its cost. For the Maratón, this kit is required not so much for the distance of the race but for the elevation that runners will go through and possible complications in case of ground evacuation. The environment through which they will pass and the course itself make this kit mandatory. Using minimalist footwear (sandal type or five fingers) is forbidden for long races (Grand Trail and Vuelta al Aneto) and not recommended for Marathon due to the ruggedness of the terrain, as the races pass through high mountains and it necessary to wear footwear suitable to this type of terrain. All this material must pass a review by the members of the Organization, which will be made before the delivery of the race number. In the same it will be verified that the participant has in the backpack everything that is necessary and that is in perfect conditions of use. The participant will sign a document responsible for the contents of his backpack throughout the race. Likewise, throughout the entire test, all participants are obliged to teach it to the Organization if it so requires. All with the purpose of establishing a security framework for both runners and organizers.

Bags can be collected from the Sports Hall itself. Bags will only be handed over after showing the race number or identification bracelet. Bags must be retrieved upon finishing the race on Saturday or Sunday. The contents of the bags are neither itemised nor insured, and the Organiser accepts no responsibility for their contents and will not be liable for them in case of loss or theft. It is advisable not to leave any valuable items. Article 17. Kit check and race start check The Organiser will perform a mandatory kit check before allowing runners to collect their race number and hand over the drop bag. This is why runners should come with the rucksack that they are going to run with and go over each and every item on the mandatory kit list in these rules and regulations with the Organiser s staff. This mandatory kit check will be signed after the Organiser gives their approval, after which, the only person responsible for carrying the kit during the race will be the runner themselves. During the race, there may be other mandatory kit checks on a random basis which all runners must pass when required. Before the start of the race, there will be a check before entering into a restricted fenced-off area. It will be necessary to show their race number and identity bracelet. Runners who do not wear their race number, the identity bracelet or carry the mandatory kit, or whose kit is useless or damaged, or who wear someone else s race number will not be allowed to start the race.

8 Article 20. Registration Terms and Conditions When the date of the seventh edition of Gran Trail Trangoworld Aneto-Posets has been confirmed for 19th, 20th and 21st July 2019, we will present the registration form that we have decided to use for this edition. Following last year s experience, when practically all the places on offer for the 5 races sold out in 24 hours, we believe it is necessary to take measures so that all of you have the same opportunity to take part in these marvellous mountain races. To sum up, the registration process for the 5 races in 2019 will be based on an open pre-registration process over several days, and afterwards, if there are more pre-registrations than available places, a draw will be held. The deadlines will be as follows: PRE-REGISTRATION From Friday 11th January at 12:00 hours to Monday 21st January at 12:00 hours: pre-registration for all races. Pre-registration will be free of charge and applicants must fill in all the required personal details including the link accrediting results in order to take part in Gran Trail and Vuelta al Aneto (check Regulation conditions). Pre-registration may be individual or for several runners at the same time. In the case of multiple preregistrations, one person may enter up to a maximum of 5 runners (for the same or different races). Runners who want to run as a group are recommended to take advantage of multiple pre-registrations. A group may also decide to submit individual pre-registrations at the same time and consequently be consecutive on the pre-registration list for the draw. It is very important to fill in the fields with the correct address as this will be the method used for communication between the runners and the organisation. With multiple pre-registrations the of each runner must be provided and not just one for all of them. Pre-registration is limited to one per person for all the races. This means that the same person can only preregister in one race. DRAW 23rd January: The official list of pre-registered runners will be published with a number assigned to each one. This list will be prepared in order of pre-registration. We must emphasise our recommendation that any runners who want to be close to their friends on the list must coordinate their pre-registration to be done on the same day at the same time, or through a multiple pre-registration. 24th January: draw Coinciding with the official presentation of the event at FITUR, a single number will be drawn as the point from which pre-registered runners on the list will be included in the races. The draw by race is as follows: Gran Trail Aneto-Posets: 350 places Vuelta al Aneto: 850 places Las Tucas Marathon: 1100 places Vuelta al Pico Cerler: 1050 places Vuelta al Molino de Cerler: 400 places REGISTRATION 30th January to 6th February: during this period the runners who were in the draw must complete their registration in the races through a form sent by from the organisation. To complete registration, please enclose your Federation license and pay the full registration fees. Any runners who do not complete their registration during this period will automatically lose their place. Registration forms must be received before 23:59 hours on 6th February.

9 From 7th February: if any places in the races have not been filled after the registration and payment completion period, the next people on the draw list will be informed and if they are still interested in running, they may fcomplete their registration until all the places have been filled. GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS: Registration fees for the different races in 2019: Gran Trail Aneto-Posets: 100 Vuelta al Aneto: 75 Las Tucas Marathon: 55 Vuelta al Pico Cerler: 37 Vuelta al Molino de Cerler: 21 As mentioned previously, in order to complete registration after the draw, you must attach your 2019 Federation Card covering mountain races in Spain. Licences for 2019 can be processed from December We recommend everybody to do this in time in order to be ready to complete registration. If you do not have a license yet, we will accept a receipt from the relevant Federation accrediting that it is being processed. It must then be sent at a later date to inscripciones@trail-aneto.com. All runners who do not hold any card as an affiliated member of a federation that covers mountain races in Spain (such as FEDME, AE Trail, Caving, etc.; any licenses that are limited to a certain autonomous community and offer no coverage in Aragon are not valid) must pay an additional fee of 6 to process a one-day licence. To cancel your registration there is a Cancellation Form available for runners on the event website. Registration Cancellation Insurance: the organisation provides registered runners with a cancellation insurance at a cost of 6.00 which will give runners the right to 100% refund of their registration fees until the MONDAY before the race, 15th July. This insurance may only be taken out when completing your registration. For runners who choose not to take out this Cancellation Insurance, part of the registration fee will be returned based on the following table: RACE 30/01 to 31/03 01/04 to 15/05 16/05 to 15/06 Gran Trail Aneto-Posets Vuelta al Aneto Las Tucas Marathon Vuelta al Pico Cerler Vuelta al Molino Cerler When all the available places for runners are filled, no race or name changes will be allowed in registrations. Likewise, no waiting lists will be opened for any of the races. As in previous years registrations are managed according to an overbooking policy, meaning we allow more registrations than available places at the moment of the draw in order to anticipate possible cancellations. The Organiser reserves the right of admission at all times; anyone who attempts to participate using someone else s race number will not be allowed to start the race. Should anyone attempt to do so and the Organiser becomes aware of it during or after the race, they will be automatically disqualified. The Organiser also reserves the right not to let them participate in future editions of this event. Registration in the teams category (only Gran Trail and Vuelta al Aneto) will open once the individual registration deadline has expired in the month of July, a few days before the event. Only credit card payment is allowed. For those who cannot pay with a credit card, please contact the Organiser by sending an to: inscripciones@trail-aneto.com. All the technical information regarding the 2019 event (Regulations, Timetables, Route Book, etc) will be published on the website later on.
