2 HERITAGE, VINTAGE AND CLASSIC YACHTS +44 (0) A R LUKE CLASSIC SLOOP 57FT CONSTRUCTION Carvel planking on double-sawn English oak frames sided to 2 1/2in and molded 3-4in. 1 1/2in carvel planking with teak shear strake, Canadian rock elm garboard, and first broad, and the remainder is pitch pine. 7in-thick molded English elm structural keel, English oak deadwood and backbone. 16,000 lb outside lead ballast. White topsides with red top and blue bottom. SHIRIS has been extensively upgraded as required and is maintained to very high standards. Bronze floor timbers and bronze bolt and spike fastenings. Wrought-iron hanging and lodging knees. The laid-and-caulked deck is 1 1/2in teak, and SHIRIS is fitted with wheel- steering to a keel-hung rudder in a self-bailing cockpit. All joinerery - skylights, doghouse, etc. - is varnished teak. ACCOMMODATION Sleeps up to 8. Headroom: 6ft 1in to 7ft 10in. Access below is via the doghouse and down a beautifully built, curved white-oak companionway with signal-flag stowage. The forepeak is right forward with a V-berth cabin next aft. The full-width head is next aft with an Italian marble vanity and sink with storage outboard and below to port and a Blake WC opposite. The tastefully finished main cabin is next aft with a dresser port and starboard with leaded-glass front lockers outboard and drop-leaf oak table with removable fiddles between settees port and starboard, which convert to over and under berths. A Luke 24in brass-and-soapstone solid-fuel fireplace is fitted forward to port with a brass stovepipe backed by tile. One then goes into the aft cabin, with built-in berths port and starboard and a writing desk/nav area between. This cabin is very well ventilated and lit by an overhead skylight, and like the rest of the main accommodation, is beautifully finished in varnished white-oak raised panels. The main cabin has tufted leather upholstery, and SHIRIS is beautifully appointed throughout - very much in keeping with her classic heritage. SHIRIS is well ventilated with two hatches, three skylights, two 4in bronze dorades, and three 3in bronze Davey mushroom ventilators. The galley is next aft port and starboard with stainless countertop and double sinks to starboard with Dutch tile outboard and raised-panel front stowage above and below. The Shipmate stainless-steel 3-burner gimballed propane stove is opposite to port with stowage above and counter aft. The stove is fitted with a Marinetics remote shutoff, and the refrigeration/freezer is a Grunert Versamatic system (rebuilt 1993), which is stainless steel lined with stainless-steel shelves and was rebuilt in MACHINERY 1981 Westerbeke 58-hp 4-cylinder fresh-water-cooled diesel, (rebuilt in 1992). Hurth 2:1 reduction gear, new 1994, to 1 1/4in bronze shaft and 18in twoblade max prop. Spare 18inx 12in three-blade bronze propeller. Cruises at 7 knots at 2,000 rpm. 35 gallon fuel in 1992 Imtra bladder tank. 100 gallon water in welded polyethylene tanks with baffles and inspection ports. ELECTRICS 12V DC and 110V AC electrical system with 4 Deka 1994 gel cell house batteries and 925-amp cold-crank 12V starting battery (1992).
