Bontekoning is designed to be handled by two persons, thanks to the hydraulic in-mast furling system, powered sheet winches, and furls on the headsails. In 2010 Bontekoning underwent an extensive and thorough maintenance program. The hull has been re-spray-painted racing Green, all the woodwork on deck has been varnished and the sails and batteries are new.
