3 Construction, Mechanical and Rigging Construction LM 27 Mark IIA built in Built co-operatively between Scanyachts of Hamble and LM Glasfiber of denmark, she still retains many features which are exclusive to the Danish LM. Heavy duty hand laid GRP hull, deck and superstructure The hull with shallow draft long fin keel is moulded in one piece, cast iron ballast being polyester encapsulated down into the keel. Interior finished in solid and mahogany type veneered plywood. Deck heads principally with foam cored GRP sandwich with ply and solid wood pads built in for through bolting of deck fittings. Copper coated hull Mechanical BUKH 20HP 2-Cylinder diesel engine (serviced in March 2017). Flexible mounting on GRP engine bed moulding with integral oil spill sump. Engine compartment sound insulated. Sea water cooled. Shaft drive with deep sea seal to a 3-bladed propellor. Cockpit The cockpit level is raised to provide good self draining with double drains. at forward end and 11" deep cill is formed for additional sea safety. The wheelhouse doors open out and fold back against aft face of bulkhead which slopes rearwardat a comfortable angle. The level of the cockpit seats are raised to enable a seated person to see through the forward wheelhouse windows providing all round vision without standing up. At the aft end of the cockpit is a table housing. Gas locker and large cockpit lockers. The removable tiller serves the rudder which is safely tucked forward below canoe stern.
