3 AMENDED NOTICE OF RACE 1. RULES 4 CLASS DIVISIONS 1.1 Volvo Cork Week 2016, organized by the Royal Cork Yacht Club will be held between 10th and 15th of July at Crosshaven, Co. Cork. 1.2 Racing will be governed by the Rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) Irish Sailing Association Prescriptions and the following, as appropriate: The 2016 IRC Rule. Class Rules for One Design including their crew/weight limits (if any). 1.3 Where there is a conflict with the Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail except that neither shall change nor alter a class rule. 2. ADVERTISING Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority. 3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 Volvo Cork Week is open to boats sailing under IRC, ECHO, One Design and Sports Boat rules. 3.2 Boats, other than White sail, Non Spinnaker and Coastal Fleet, wishing to race under the IRC rule shall have an ENDORSED Certificate. 3.3 IRC Rule is deleted and is replaced by The maximum number of crew that may sail aboard a boat shall be the crew number on her certificate plus one. There is no weight limit. 3.4 All boats other than those listed in 3.5 shall comply with the ISAF Special Regulations Category Sports Boats shall comply with the ISAF Special Regulations Category IRC and One Design Classes, Mixed Sportsboats (under IRC), White Sail and Non Spinnaker Classes (see appendix A), Coastal fleet (Longer coastal races with one race per day) The Beaufort Cup (See supplementary NoR). All timed races will be dual scored using IRC and a local progressive handicap system (ECHO). 3.7 Eligible boats may enter the Regatta by completing the attached Entry Form and submitting it to the Regatta Office or enter on line. Phone +353 (0) info@corkweek.ie Web: Late entries will be accepted after and including July 1st 2016 at the discretion of the Race Committee and will be subject to a late entry fee. 4.1 Entrants will be divided into CLASS DIVISIONS which will not be finalised u ntil after the closing date of 01st of July The composition of Class divisions will be determined at the sole discretion of the OA and will be based on the following points The need for a reasonable number of boats in each division Having as close a spread as possible in the range of handicaps in each division The OA reserves the absolute discretion, in the interests of fair sailing for all competitors, when creating the class divisions. 5. FEES 5.1 Entry Fees are as follows: (These include berthing for all competitors for the duration of the regatta) Up to & incl. Up to & incl. May 1st June 30th Sports Boats feet feet feet feet feet ft and above SCHEDULE 6.1 Registration: Competitors must register at the Regatta Race office from 14:30hrs on Saturday July 9th to 17:00hrs on Sunday July 10th 2016 To comply with registration requirements, competitors must ensure the following: a. The entry form has been submitted and the entry fee paid. b. Emergency contact names and telephone numbers are provided. c. Completion of safety checks as requested. 6.2 Boats that fail to complete their Registration shall be scored DSQ, without a hearing. This amends RRS Dates and times of racing: Practice Starts/Races Sunday afternoon July 10th. Furthe rdetails to be provided. VOLVO Cork Week Racing is scheduled from Monday 11th of July to Friday 15th of July 2016 inclusive. The warning signal of the first race of each day will be at 10:55hrs. 6.4 Number of races: There will be up to three races per day for each class except where a Harbour Race or Coastal Race is scheduled.

MEASUREMENTS 7.1 Each boat shall produce a valid applicable rating certificate. 7.2 Changes to the rating of a boat other than upwards will not be allowed after 17:00 hrs on Monday July 4th 2016 unless the rating change is: a. Due to an error made by RORC or UNCL. In such a case, the rating shall be corrected for all races. b. The result of a rating protest, when RRS 64.3 will apply together with the rules applicable to that rating system. c. At the discretion of RORC and UNCL as appropriate. Downward changes will generally only be permitted following, measurements for endorsement required by either the RORC or UNCL. 8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available no later than July 1st from the Cork Week Race Office and will be posted online. 9. VENUE 8.1. Racing will take place in Cork Harbour and its surrounding waters. Refer Admiralty charts 1777 and THE COURSES A variety of different courses will be sailed during the regatta including but not limited to Windward/Leeward, Olympic, Coastal, Trapezoid, Slalom and Harbour Courses. 11. PENALTY SYSTEM 11.3 Decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in accordance rule SCORING 12.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply Three Races are required to be completed to constitute a series (a) When 5 or fewer races have been completed a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When 6 or more races have been completed a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 13. BERTHING Complimentary berthing will be provided to competitors for the duration of the regatta and limited extra berths will be available for a number of days before and after Volvo Cork Week Please apply to race organisers who will try to accommodate applicants for berthage outside regatta dates. Boats shall be kept in their assigned places at the marina at all times. 14. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS Keelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 15. RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. 16. PRIZES Overall class prizes/trophies will be awarded to each class under IRC. Prizes also awarded in progressive handicap (ECHO). A Prix d Elegance Prize will be awarded. Sisk Group Corinthian Cup, The Carroll Cup, A Boat of the Week - Kinsale Kettle and The Hugh Coveney Trophy will also be awarded. 17. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 18. INSURANCE It is the duty of each boat owner to have his boat adequately insured against any risk, including civil responsibility to third parties and to ensure that such insurance remains valid for the entirety of Volvo Cork Week MEDIA WAIVER Competitors give their consent to the Royal Cork Yacht Club, its sponsors, and the organising authority to use their name, comments, photograph and likeness in order to promote the Volvo Cork Week Regatta. 20. Sail identification number on main sail is required. Spinnakers, Bloopers, Gennikers, Code Zero or similar sails are not allowed. You are allowed to pole out your head sail. No professionals (unless sailing their own boat) are permitted on board any boat. Sails shall not be Hi-Tech; that is made from high modulus materials such as woven ply and/or laminated ply made from aramids and HMPE. Aramid is marketed under trade names such as Kevlar and Twaron, and HMPE under trade names such as Spectra and Dyneema. Carbon Fibre is included in this list of materials not permitted. Definition of a Non Spinnaker boat: Any boat that choses to sailing without her spinnaker and complies full with her rating certificate under her non spinnaker TCC. OR sailing without her spinnaker under the ECHO handicapping system (local Progressive Handicap system)
