1 NOTICE OF RACE 2019 TORNADO OPEN, MIXED AND YOUTH EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 5 th - 9 th JUNE 2019 RIMINI-ADRIATIC SEA-ITALY The Organizing Authority is the CLUB NAUTICO RIMINI ASD, on behalf of the International Tornado Association (ITA) and the Italian Tornado Class Association, under the authority of Federazione Italiana Vela (FIV)], the World Sailing and the patronage Municipality of Rimini. 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in The Racing Rules of S ai l i n g. (RRS). 1.2 No national authority prescriptions will apply. 1.3 The ITA Class Rules "Appendix C - International Events" and the "Equipment Inspection Regulations" will apply. 1.4 If there is a conflict between the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail. 1.5 A boat chartered or loaned for the regatta may carry national letters or a sail number in contravention of the class rules (see RRS Appendix G.3). 1.6 In case of translation, if there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 2 ADVERTISING 2.1 Competitors may be required to carry advertising for event sponsors. 2.2 After the first day when races are completed, the first 3 boats in the provisional standings may be required to display a yellow, blue or red disc on the mainsail. 3 ELIGIBILITY 3.1 All competitors shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation All competitors shall be members of the ITA and their current year membership fees shall have been fully paid and verified. 2 4 ENTRY 4.1 The regatta is open to suitable boats of the Tornado class. The suitable boats can enter by filling out the pre-registration directly on the website. or by downloading the form from the website and sending it by to 4.2 The Participation Form and the completed participation fee of the appropriate vessel will be received by the Organization Body no later than 12 th May. 5 ENTRY FEE 5.1 The Entry Fee is 350,00 if the payment received by 12 th May ; 400, 00 if payment is received after this the date. The is required in addition to the submission of the Official Entry Form. The Entry Fee includes an ITA Class Fee of 50 Euros. 3 6.4 Dates of racing: DATE RACE 1 st WARNING SIGNAL 05/06 Practice Race /06 2 Races /06 2 Races /06 2 Races /06 2 Races EQUIPMENT INSPECTION 7.1 Equipment Inspection shall be conducted in accordance with the Tornado Equipment Inspection Regulations, copies of which will be available on the event website and at the Race Office from 3 rd June. 7.2 Each boat shall present a valid measurement certificate at Equipment Inspection. 8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The Sailing Instructions will be available after 27 MAY online at 9 VENUE 9.1 The Boat Park will be located at Club Nautico Rimini Asd, Largo Boscovich, 12, Rimini (RN- Italy). 9.2 Racing areas will be in front of the Rimini Port. See "Annex 1" 10 COURSE The Championship Course as shown in class rules Appendix C-Attachment 1 will be used. 11 PENALTY SYSTEM 11.1 Rules 44.1 and 44.2 will be changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required Racing rule 44.3 will not apply Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in rule Page 3 of 8

4 12 SCORING 12.1 The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will apply races must be completed to constitute a series When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat's worst race score will be excluded from her series score. 13 SUPPORT BOATS Team leaders, coaches and support personnel shall register from 4 th June at hours at the Race office; and shall comply with the requirements in the Sailing Instructions. We have to display their national flag and any other identification mean provided by the Organizing Authority. All support boats have to stay clear from the racing area at a minimum of 100 meters starting with the warning signal until the end of each race, except for rescue reasons. 14 RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 15 PRIZES Prizes will be given as follows: (a) Trophies will be awarded to helmsman and crew of the top 5 finishing boats. (b) Trophies will be awarded to the top 5 Mixed teams. (c) Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 Youth teams. (each crew member under 26 years old at 31st December 2019). (d) Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 classified Classic Tornado teams. (e) Special Prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Organizing Authority to teams who attend the prize giving ceremony. At least 5 boats are needed to constitute a category. Page 4 of 8

5 16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors will sail entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority, International Tornado Class Association and all parties involved in the regatta organization will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 17 INSURANCE 18 Each participating boat shall have current third-party liability insurance with, including coverage when racing at the venue of the championship, of not less than for incident (or equivalent). Proof of this insurance shall be available at all times. 18 PHOTOGRAPHY CONSENT 19 By entering the Championship competitors accept that they may be photographed and/or videotaped participating in the race and/or using the regatta facilities and they consent to the taking of such images and to the use, re-use, publication and republication of such images in any media, in conjunction with the competitor s name or not, without competitor approval of such images or any use thereof. 19 FURTHER INFORMATION Official Club website: Official Club cnrimini@cnrimini.com ITA website: Page 5 of 8
