Overall Club Dinghy Champion 2018 Series Racing > Wednesday Spring Series (Fast and Slow Fleet) > Friday Evening Series (Fast and Slow Fleet) > Saturday Spring Series (All in Handicap) > Summer series (All in Handicap) > Autumn Series (All in Handicap) > Windward Leeward Series (All in Handicap) One Day Trophy Events > Portchester Duck Race > Castle Cup Race > Vicarage Cup Race > Scoter Shield Race Series Count as 2 Events Total 16 Events 9 Events to Qualify! 21 KP

Overall Club Dinghy Champion 2018 > In the example above some interesting points to identify > Note the result of a series is duplicated, whereas the trophy race has a single entry. > Both Davies and Oakey collected two race wins on the Wednesday series. This is due to the Series weighting and because there was a separate Slow and Fast handicap fleet. > Davies collects 2 race wins for the Saturday series. Powell came second as this was an all in handicap although the two boats were in different fleets. > Burden did not have enough results counting for the Championship and so must count the lowest value DNC results to make up the required number of results. A DNC result was 16 for this Summer Series and so they counted for his 8 th and 9 th results. > Observation - It is difficult to win the Club Championship without a combination of Series and Trophy races. It is impossible to win with just trophy races to count. > Observation The season has approximately 70 races schedule. It is unlikely that you will collect enough results unless you compete in a minimum of 30 races. 22 KP

Junior Champion Calculated over the best 20 race results all season in any race. > 2 Results need to be from Cup Races. > 2 Results need to be from the Windward Leeward Series > Remainder can be from any Series or Cup Race, inc. Club Regatta. 1 st Place Sunsail Trophy - Overall Junior Club Champion 2 nd Place - Junior Trophy Junior Cup - most improved Junior Racer (voted for by Sailing Committee) 23

Club Solo Champion 2018 > 2 nd April Portchester Duck Race > 5 th May Flew Sails Windward Leeward Race 1 & 2 > 7 th May Castle Cup Race > 28 th May Vicarage Cup Race > 2 nd June Flew Sails Windward Leeward Race 3 & 4 > 4 th Aug Flew Sails Windward Leeward Race 5 & 6 > 11 th Aug Solo Open Meeting > 27 th Aug Scoter Shield Race > 15 th Sept Club Regatta / Bart s Bash > 27 th Oct Flew Sails Windward Leeward Race 7 & 8 > 10 Events, 6 to count! (Where 2 races on same day, result is overall for the day) 24 DL

Racing is easy winning is a little harder > Just sign up for the race on the day in the start hut. > This way we know you are on the water and the RIB team will be able to monitor and manage your progress > If you need assistance or want some specific advice about your boat and racing, just ask. > If you fancy giving racing a go but don t know how - Racing rules talk on 24 th March (Saturday) - Speak to the Dinghy Captain or any regular racer - Don t have a boat use a club one. > Even if you just sail the course it will help you develop your skills and give direction to a day s sailing 25 KP

Race Duties overview > Officer of the Day (OOD) - Responsible for setting the course and ensuring necessary support boats are prepared by the Rib Crew. - Has the final say whether it is safe to race and can abandon a race at any time. - Uploads competitor details and finish times into Race Management Program. - New OOD checklist to be completed bound into book with sign on sheets. > Assistant Officer of the Day - Check off boats signed up against those on the water. - Record finish times. - Good for non-sailors and non-racers as a duty day contribution. - Training can be provided or roster your self with an experienced OOD. > RIB Driver and Crew - Drivers need PB2 or have passed Club Rib Competency Test. - Crew no qualification required. - Make sure you and crew have signed in on OOD checklist. - Prepare a second (back up) support boat as directed by the OOD, - Assist in setting any laid marks, spotting sailors in need of assistance. Please arrive at least 45 minutes before scheduled start time for all Duties. 49 KP

NEW - Second patrol boat > Rib will be primary patrol boat for dinghy racing > Change of policy: - A second patrol boat must always be ready to go when racing is running as a safeguard against unexpected weather or events afloat. > The OOD will/must not commence the start sequence before a second patrol boat is rigged - Responsibility of Rib Crew to Prepare the 2nd patrol Boat. - The OOD has the power to ask any racing member of the club to prepare and or man the 2 nd patrol boat. > Where in an emergency the OOD deems the 2 nd patrol boat is to be launched on the grounds of immediate or perceived risk to life or property, any member of the Club who is considered capable may drive it and the usual PB2/club authority requirement may be waived. The five events can be all cruises, all races or any combination of both. The duty can be for a race or a cruise. > Two duties after ten events, three after fifteen and so on. > Sailing Committee members allowed 10 events per duty. > Juniors, Cadets and first season racers/cruisers exempt. 51 KP

Sailing Duties Pay as you Play - Principles > There is no obligation to do a duty until you have sailed five events (races or cruises). > 5 events for 1 duty should cover the requirement for normal club races and cruises listed in the Members Handbook. > Duties on Regatta days to count double. - This includes the Flew Windward Leeward Series and Club Regatta. > Duties for Open Meetings and PTBO do not count for Pay as you Play. But do count for Membership Duty Voucher. > Use the club Dutyman system to book duties, as in the past. > Make sure that the races, cruises and duties you undertake are also entered in the Logbook located in the Start Hut, on the day that you do them. > It is easy to check your progress from the Start Hut Logbook. 52 KP

Sailing Duties Pay as you Play - Principles > When you have done five events since your last duty you need to book another duty on Dutyman. > Some sailors needed to do early duties to get the system going. > ALL DUITES EARN AVERAGE POINTS in series or Club / Solo Championships > We will need to maintain and inprove the 2017 level of non-dinghy racer help to make this work. > It will assist if all racers try to persuade a non-racing club member to do three race duties as their Work Party Duty (and help that person with a little tuition if necessary). > If you are or have a non-racing/sailing parent or spouse who is a club member please encourage them to help and do some voluntary duties and help the racing community. 53 KP
