For those of you who do not know me very well, I have been a continuous member at NSA since 1978 and served as Vice Commodore in 1982 and Commodore Elect in I sail a S2 7.9 located in slip C-15 which I have co-owned with Doug Douthit since It is an honor to serve as your Commodore this year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of the Ninnescah Sailing Association. I would also like to thank the outgoing board members for their excellent leadership and service as well as the new and continuing board members for their upcoming service. I have visited a lot of sailing clubs around the country and feel we have one of the finest facilities around. This could not be done without the sacrificial work of the membership. In that regard, I encourage you to sign up for the work credit committees that will be listed in the annual membership renewal. This program is critical to the success of our club and is a great excuse to get out to the lake and enjoy the surroundings while providing a valuable service to NSA. We are looking forward to a fun and productive year at NSA. Some of the projects we are looking at this coming season include completing the repair work on the docks --and by the way, Patrick Adams, our Property Manager, has done an exemplary job of managing the work completed on these critical assets. We will also be naming a committee to look into the crane issues and report to the board their recommendations. In addition, we are in the process of organizing both a social and racing event for the recruitment of new members. I do not have the space here to list everything but these are some of the programs that are on the agenda so far. At the annual meeting I encouraged members to come to the Board of Governors meetings to see how the association operates and get involved. I would like to take this opportunity to extend this invitation to those of you who were not at the annual meeting. Thanks again for your support and I look forward to serving you. 2 Board of Governors December 3, 2009 Minutes Present: Olsen, Cheatum, Hieger, Mosely, Randle, Adams, Johnson and Stump. Graves, Gronniger and Kramer were absent. Meeting was called to order 7:10 pm with the hint of winter in the air. An eager New Board of Governors with lots energy and new ideas meeting for the first time. - The minutes of the November 5, 2009 meeting were approved as published with minor corrections. Slip transfer requests and approvals for Born/Carlsen and Garrett/Barker were inadvertently omitted. The November 2009 minutes have been updated to reflect this information. Property Managers Report: - Adams reported that the club boats are in process of being winterized and plans for winter storage for the Lund and committee boat are being exercised. Kudos to Justin Fremin and John Cornett for re-bunking the pontoon trailer. The repair and floatation enhancement of the main aisle of C-Dock is complete and the fingers will be addressed in the spring of The water leak in the west boat yard has been repaired and the 4 inch water meter in the east yard has been replaced. The pump-out dock has been moved to its winter location, safely tucked in between C and D Dock thanks to the coordinated effort between Patrick's team and the Park staff. He also reported that the Boy scout annual meeting weekend at the Afterdeck was a success. And thanked Mark Wolfe for donating autographed numbered prints of America's Cup Posters. Administrative Secretary Report: - Johnson reported that the new rates have been published and the billing for 2010 will be sent out as soon as possible. Maybe as soon as December the 7th. Commodore Report: - Olsen sitting at the helm for the first time, submitted reports for the absent BOG members. He also presented a new and improved crane use agreement for BOG review, the third one so far. But, after discussion it was decided that improvement to the new agreement will be incorporated and said agreement will be used from this point forward. He also discussed the long range planning committee activities. He also presented a draft of a "work in progress" budget for consideration for the BOG and the 2010 year and hopes to have its final approval, possibly as soon as the January 2010 Board meeting. Tom emphasized the importance of a professional/business like manner of all BOG meetings with a possible change in venue to encourage this and to lure more members to attend. Commodore-Elect Report: - Hieger, new to the BOG for 2010, but not new to serving on the BOG is getting back into the swing of things. He is currently formulating a list for potential committee chairpersons and making arrangements to meet with the Property Manager. Past Commodore Report: - Graves was absent. John looks forward to becoming a full fledged wedding planner. Vice Commodore Report: - Cheatum reported that his focus is to insure that the club boats get into proper storage for the winter. He also announced the CSSA annual meeting Saturday November 14 at the Afterdeck went well and that the CSSA Regatta schedule looks a lot like the 2009 schedule. Look for official notification to be posted in the near future. Treasurer Report: - Mosely, also new to the 2010 BOG but seasoned with his years of service to the Club presented the Statement of Financial Position for the month ended November 30, 2009, which was "accepted" by the Board. John also submitted two motions; one asking that signatory approval for the Fidelity account be updated to current and corresponding Board members to be consistent with years past. Another motion was to close the petty cash checking account from Kansa Bank and moved to Fidelity Bank with consistent signatory authority. Both Motions passed unanimously. There also was discussion pertaining to an assistant to the Treasurer s office with work credit considerations. The discussion revealed that this topic was discussed and approved at the November 3, 2009 Board meeting. He also asked for volunteers for the year end inventory for NSA club and members boats on premises. Meet out at the lake January 1, :00am if interested. Operations Report: - Randle, a new Board member for 2010, reported plans to meet with Gibson to gather all necessary data. Steve also plans on meeting with his entire reporting committee staff to map out strategies and plans for the upcoming year. He also encourages all of his organization to attend the monthly BOG meeting when possible. Secretary Report: None Yard Master Report: - Gronniger was absent but he continues to stay on top of yard issues, and reports that notices have gone out to remind members to check their boats regularly during the winter months and close and lock the gates. He also reiterates that winter mowing is crucial for boat and club safety. Harbor Master Report: - Kramer was absent but through Tom and Patrick reminds all members to make themselves aware of the winter rules concerning boats staying in through the winter months and to take a few minutes to re-read the rules pertaining to having your boat at the NSA facilities. Old Business: - Funding Depreciation Reserve discussion was tabled until key persons could be in attendance. - The crane committee chaired by John Graves has been selected and plans on meeting and reporting to the Board through Graves. - November 2009 slip transfers Born/Carlsen and Garrett/Barker were submitted and approved unanimously

New Business: - Some New Business has been covered within individual BOG Reports. - Fire protection for Afterdeck, slips and other facilities ideas were shared and then tabled for a more in depth discussion at the January BOG meeting. Member/Guest Forum: - There were several members and/or guests in attendance. It is always fun to have members and guests stop in and participate and to see how the BOG carries on business. Your concerns and input are always appreciated. Announcements: - Next meeting: January 7th, :00 pm Location to be announced. - BOG breakfast: December 15th at The Copper Oven. Meeting adjourned 9:00pm FORMER MEMBERS DONATE BOOK COLLECTION AND AMERICA S CUP PRINTS Mark and Sue Wolff donated a large, fine collection of sailing-related books to the Ninnescah Yacht Club. Mark was Commodore in They sailed an S-2 28 named Priority. Good name. Unfortunately, there is not enough shelf space in the west loft to hold this collection. Tom Olsen has offered to donate a bookcase thanks, Tom. The three boxes of books are already in the west loft if you want to take a look. But that s not all. The Wolffs also donated two exceptional prints commemorating the 1983 (the last US defense) and 1987 (Australia s first defense) America s Cup races. Each is numbered and signed by three sailing legends. These are beautiful additions to the Afterdeck. Thank you to Mark and Sue for remembering the NYC! Cheney Lake Bike Paths Guy McCormick Past Commodore, 1998 Cheney Lake Park has lots of bike paths and trails to explore. One of the trails starts around Smarsh Creek and winds through the park for about 2 miles. It snakes through the woods where you can observe wildlife and nature. The trails can be ridden by intermediate and seasoned riders. These trails have a lot to offer for riders of all ages.

4 Red Cross Sailing: 2010 The new 2010 summer sailing schedule is listed below for your early planning convenience. Please feel free to contact the American Red Cross with any questions you may have concerning the sailing program. The Red Cross sailing team invites all Ninnescah Sailing Association members to get involved in a sailing class.
