3 Innerspace Explorer Dive Club Meeting Minutes Page 3 Innerspace Explorer Dive Club Meeting Minutes October 7, 2014 Meeting called to order at 7: 00 PM by President Sue Tuttle. Guests- None Who s been diving? Pete & his better half Lou dove at Bigelow Hollow. Lou is getting back into diving again. Lake George for the annual Gillman weekend and dove French Point. Pete dove in Cape Cod, Lobster diving and wreck diving. Bass, Heroine & U-boat. Adam did 2 dives at Ft. Wetherill with Ray. Saw some tropical 1-2 in length. Adam also dove in the Mystic Aquarium. Joanne & Wayne D dove with Bill Palmer on the OLINDA off Fishers Island two times and Lake George French Point. Wayne G dove off the canned air mid to late August. Excellent vis. 30 to 40.Bass & Grecian 70 depth and 40 away forward boiler visible. Lots of fish inside the wrecks. 3-4 stripers OLD BUSINESS Gerry shared an article regarding the club oxygen regulations. Adam volunteered to hydro the tank and fill it. There was discussion regarding the diver safety info from DAN. There was further discussion on what to do with the equipment to either keep it or sell it. A motion was made to give the equipment to Adam at no cost. It was seconded. Motion passed unanimously. There was discussion regarding presenting plaques to two members that have left the club recently for their dedication to the club. Will discuss at the next meeting. Banner update- Still in the works. No Updates NEW BUSINESS Yearly Elections were held. Sue agreed to continue as President. Vote: Unanimous. Motion Passed Wayne D agreed to continue as VP. Vote: Unanimous. Motion Passed Joanne declined the Secretary position. There were no volunteers for the position. She will record the minutes when she is available. Discussion that perhaps one of the board members or members could fill in while we look for someone to fill the position. Discuss later. Gerry agreed to continue as Treasurer. Vote: unanimous. Motion Passed Wayne and Joanne had a discussion with Ed Hayes from Scuba Shack regarding some new diving techniques. He is willing to share them as a speaker at one of our meetings. Also Peter Katz with Scuba Shack is putting together a trip with Stuart Coves in the Bahamas around Memorial Day. More info to follow. TREASURER S REPORT- Gerry Dues were collected. A report will follow next month. Next Meeting Tuesday November 4, E-Board Meeting will be held at 6 PM before the regular meeting. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM. 6 Lost At Sea: Shipwrecks of the Ancient World Page 6 This exhibit will be at Lyman Allyn Art Museum 625 Williams St. in new London until February 1, Bob Ballard spoke at the museum 10/8/14. Dan & I attended Bob s lecture. He spoke for an hour and discussed his background and a new program he is starting for kids. The program exposes school kids to oceanography with a hope to spark an interest as a career. Some kids get to work on a research vessel as well. He didn t go into specifics as to how kids are chosen to be on the ship. Also at the museum Dr. Michael Brennan, Director of Maritime History, URI s Graduate School of Oceanography, discusses the dangers of bottom trawling to the preservation of generations of history beneath the sea. This lecture is October 29 at 6 p.m. Thank you Tony B. for sending information on these two lectures. I took these pictures before I saw the sign which said no photography.oops.
