3 SkillsUSA SkillsUSA Competition The Contestant should first take appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) precautions - worth 50 points (30 sec). The entire Technical Scope of Practice (TSOP) is worth 800 points with the TSOP time allotted for worth at approximately 26 minutes. 1. There will be a point deduction for any and every warning given. 2. There will be a point deduction for any and every safety infraction occurrence. 3. Any incomplete event will be an automatic 5 point deduction for that particular event. 4. Proctor instructions will be read from the official course booklet supplied with the TSOP outline with the addition of the modifications made for this particular course. 5. 7 Event 4 Airway 4. Airway Event a. The EMT will assess airway and breathing; assures ventilation is adequate, and initiates appropriate oxygen therapy. This should be accomplished within 3 minutes. (60 point max score) b. Subtract all warnings/safety and/or time deductions from the total possible points (60) for a final score on the Airway event. i. Warnings: 5 point deduction for each infraction 1. Failure to verbalize respiratory rate and quality 2. Failure to initiate appropriate oxygen therapy ii. Safety infractions: 10 point deduction for each infraction 1. Failure to ensure patent airway 2. 8 Event 5 Circulation 5. Circulation Event a. The EMT will assess circulation; assess/control major bleeding, assesses skin (color, temp and/or condition), and checks pulse. This should be accomplished within 3 minutes. (60 point max score) b. Subtract all warnings/safety and/or time deductions from the total possible points (60) for a final score on the Circulation event. i. Warnings: 5 point deduction for each infraction 1. Failure to verbalize bleeding assessment 2. Failure to verbalize skin condition 3. Failure to check radial pulse ii. Safety infractions: 10 point deduction for each infraction 1. The EMT will identify the patient priority, verbalize treatment plan, verbalize transport decision. This should be accomplished within 60 seconds. (60 point max score) b. (200 point max score) b. Subtract all warnings/safety and/or time deductions from the total possible points (200) for a final score on the Circulation event. i.
