To reduce the risk of injury, user must read instruction manual CARE AND MAINTENANCE The Lyman Case Prep Xpress center is designed to provide years of service with minimal maintenance. The Xpress can be wiped occasionally with a damp cloth. Do not use any harsh cleaning products or solvents on unit. A removable brass shaving dump pan is included. The build up of brass shavings will occur around the tools and should be brushed off with the supplied brush. After using tools in the revolving tool stations, they may become quite tight. You may need to hold onto a tool in another station to keep from turning the motor when a tool is removed. HANDLING CAUTION FOR MOTOR MICA CASE LUBE CAUTION: Do not inhale dust and avoid contact with eyes. Prolonged inhalation may be unhealthy. Use in adequately ventilated areas only. Always wear eye protection while handling. 3 Primer Pocket Cleaner Small and Large: Quickly removes fouling out of primer pocket bottoms. Lightly press case over tool (approx. 2-3 seconds) until fouling is removed. CASE NECK BRUSHES The following case neck brushes can be installed in the six storage stations located on either side of the unit. CASE NECK BRUSH (.25 Cal.): Allows cleaning of case necks up to.25 caliber CASE NECK BRUSH (.30 Cal): Allows cleaning of case necks from.26 to.30 caliber CASE NECK BRUSH (.38 Cal): Allows cleaning of case necks from.31 to.38 caliber CASE NECK BRUSH (.45 Cal): Allows cleaning of case necks from.38 to.45 caliber Case Neck Lube Dry (Motor Mica): Motor Mica is a dry lubricant that can be used to ease the passage of the resizing die s expander button. Pour small amount of Motor Mica supplied in a small plastic vial into round recess on edge of unit. Once you have used the appropriate brush to clean your case neck dip the case neck into Motor Mica and tap off any excess. NOTE: this operation should be done prior to decapping and sizing. Lyman, the industry innovator in case preparation for decades, has produced the most complete electric case prep system ever developed. The Case Prep Xpress is the only All-Inclusive System offering all the most popular case prep accessories. It features a compact, space-saving housing containing a powerful, hightorque gear motor. The Case Prep Xpress allows the user to simultaneously do 5 different case prep operations. Removable dump pan provides easy clean up of brass shavings. The best part is that all accessories are included from the start, no need to have to separately purchase expensive additional accessories. 10 3

On top is your instruction booklet and accessory kit. Make sure all the included accessories are accounted for before going any further. The kit includes: 1 Inside Deburr (VLD) Tool 1 Outside Deburr Tool 1 Primer Pocket Uniformer (S) 1 Primer Pocket Uniformer (L) 1 Primer Pocket Reamer (S) 1 Primer Pocket Reamer (L) 1 Primer Pocket Cleaner (S) 1 Primer Pocket Cleaner (L) 1 Case Neck Brush (25 Cal) 1 Case Neck Brush (30 Cal) 1 Case Neck Brush (38 Cal) 1 Case Neck Brush (45 Cal) 1 Case Neck Lube (Mica) Once you have verified the contents of the accessory kit you may remove the top packing material. You can now remove the unit from the box and inspect for any damage. Place your Case Prep Xpress unit on a smooth flat surface for use. 4 Primer Pocket Uniformer Small and Large: The Lyman Primer Pocket Uniformer Tool is designed to cut primer pockets to a uniform depth that can produce more consistent ignition and lead to greater accuracy. The Primer Pocket Uniformer cuts to a uniform depth and at the same time squares the seating surface for the anvil of the primer. Primers are constructed so that the anvil protrudes slightly from the open end of the primer cup. This is necessary so that the anvil will rest firmly on the bottom of the primer pocket. When the firing pin strikes the primer, the impact sensitive compound inside the primer is crushed between the anvil and cup causing the compound to ignite. Variations in the depth or configuration of the primer pocket, or in the primer seating operation itself, can alter the effects of the firing pin blow. This, in turn, effects the ignition of the primer and may affect the accuracy of the cartridge. The Uniformer Tool is factory set to S.A.A.M.I. specifications and is fixed in place. NO ADJUSTMENTS ARE NEEDED OR SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED! To use the Primer Pocket Uniforming Tool, insert into the primer pocket of an empty, deprimed case. Be sure to hold the case straight in line with the Uniforming Tool. Hold case over tool while applying light pressure. Hold case over cutter and remove material until the head of the case makes contact squarely against the shoulder on the Uniformer Tool. Remove the case from the cutter and check the pocket for brass shavings. Remove any shavings that are found. If no material is removed, the pocket is already at the correct depth. Military cases have crimped-in primers. Lyman's Primer Pocket Reamer should be used first to remove the crimp and then the Uniformer Tool can be used as described above. WARNING: Large Rifle and Large Pistol Primers have different pocket depths. Do not use the Large Rifle Uniformer in pistol cases. Holding the Uniforming Tool at an angle in the primer pocket could enlarge the pocket and cause gas leakage. Keep tool square and in-line with the case. Primer Pocket Reamer Small and Large: Removes military crimps and rough metal edges from primer pockets. The tool requires only a few seconds to work properly. Be sure to hold case square with the reamer. Holding unit at an angle in the primer pocket could enlarge the pocket and cause gas leakage. 9

5 e. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.!! WARNING!! 1. The use of any accessory or attachment other than one recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal injury. 2. Have your tool repaired by a qualified person 3. This electric tool complies with the relevant safety rules. Repairs should only be carried out by qualified persons using original spare parts, otherwise this may result in considerable danger to the user. 4. If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order to avoid a safety hazard. OPERATING THE XPRESS You may install your case prep tools in any of the 5 different stations on the unit to meet your specific needs for case preparation. Case prep tools simply thread into the tool stations on the top of unit. They will accept any case tools using an 8-32 thread. INDIVIDUAL TOOL INSTRUCTIONS Inside Deburr (VLD) Tool: This tool eliminates damage caused by sharp edges on the case neck. It cuts a gentle 22 degree chamfer on the case mouth allowing bullets to easily enter the cartridge. This tool only requires a few seconds to properly function. Do not over cut brass as this will lead to thin weak necks. Works on cartridges from 17cal. - 45cal. Outside Deburr Tool: This tool removes excess brass from trimmed cases. The tool easily deburrs the outside case mouth to leave a smooth even finish. This tool only requires a few seconds to properly function. Do not over cut brass as this will lead to thin weak necks. Works on cartridges from 17cal. - 45cal. IMPORTANT Before using your Lyman Case Prep Xpress read all operating instructions prior to getting started. This instruction manual should be kept with your Case Prep Xpress center so that it may be used for reference in the future. Do not use the tumbler near a tub or sink where it could fall into water. 4. Do not leave the tumbler running unattended. 5. Do not touch rotating components. 6. Only connect the cord to a properly grounded electrical outlet. 7. Turn the control to the OFF position before removing tools from the spindles. 8. Keep hands, hair or loose clothing away from the rotating components. 9. Do not operate on carpet, only on a hard flat floor surface. 10. Do not use tools in damp or wet locations. 16. Keep work area well lit. 24. Secure work a. Where possible use clamps or a vice to hold the work. It is safer than using your hand. 25. Do not overreach 26. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. 27. Follow instruction for lubricating and changing accessories. 17. Do not use tools in the presence of flammable liquids or gases. 18. Guard against electric shock a. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces (e.g. pipes, radiators, ranges, refrigerators). 19. Keep other persons away a. Do not let persons, especially children, not involved in the work touch the tool or the extension cord and keep them away from the work area 20. Tooling a. Store idle tools in a safe location without power. b. When not in use, tools should be stored in a dry locked-up place, out of reach of children. c. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. d. Maintain tools with care e. Do not force the tool f. It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was intended. g. Use the right tool for the job. h. Do not force small tools to do the job of a heavy duty tool. i. Do not use tools for purposes not intended; for example do not use circular saws to cut tree limbs or logs. 21. Dress properly a. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, they can be caught in moving parts. b. Non-skid footwear is recommended when working outdoors. c. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair. 22. Never yank the cord to disconnect it from the socket Keep the cord away from heat, oil and sharp edges. 28. Inspect tool cords periodically and if damaged have them repaired by a factory authorized service facility. 29. Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged. 30. Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease. 31. Disconnect tools a. When not in use, before servicing and when changing accessories such as blades, bits and cutters, disconnect tools from the power supply. 32. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches a. Form the habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from the tool before turning it on. 33. Avoid unintentional starting a. Ensure switch is in "off position when plugging in 34. Use of outdoor extension leads a. When the tool is used outdoors, use only extension cords intended for outdoor use and so marked. 35. Stay alert a. Watch what you are doing, use common sense and do not operate the tool when you are tired. 36. Check damaged parts a. Before further use of tool, it should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. b. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting and any other conditions that may affect its operation. c. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless otherwise indicated in this instruction manual. d.
