8 General Information 1.1 General Information The Miller Diving Easy Lift harness includes a rubber backpack to mount a bail-out cylinder, nonremovable shoulder straps, leg straps, chest strap, waist strap, seat support straps and stainless steel D-rings for umbilical and tool attachment. Easy adjustments at the shoulders are made by simply pulling down on the adjustment ends, or by creating slack on the load end of the webbing, therefore releasing a stainless steel locking mechanism, then simply adjusting to the proper height. The blue webbing for the vertical leg (height) adjustment is threaded through a stainless steel double back adjuster for secure locking and trouble-free adjustments. All of the eight adjustable components of the harness have neoprene adjustable sleeves to ensure secure and streamline adjustment ends. The unique seat webbing increases safety when being used in combination with the Miller Extraction Bridle. The design match of the two creates the ideal three point pick up of a conscious or unconscious diver with unmatched comfort and security. Each harness has an identification plate attached to the backpack with serial number, part number and manufacture date. VIII MMXV Miller Diving. All rights reserved. Document #

19 Evaluation Of Recognized Hazards At The Jobsite system components. Do not use equipment that is not compatible. Non-compatible connectors may unintentionally disengage. If the connecting element to which a snap hook or carabiner attaches is undersized or irregular in shape, a situation could occur where the connecting element applies a force to the gate of the snap hook or carabiner. This force may cause the gate (of either a self-locking or a non-locking snap hook) to open which will allow the snap hook or carabiner to disengage from the connecting point Rescue The employer/employees must have a rescue plan in place when using this equipment. The employer/employees must have the ability to practice and perform a rescue quickly and safely Certified Anchorage An anchorage suitable for the lift/rescue systems must be capable of supporting the potential forces that could be encountered during a lift/rescue Qualified Person(s) Persons with a recognized professional training certification, who possess extensive knowledge and experience in the use of the equipment should be allowed to perform and assist with the lifting /extraction or rescue of a diver Competent Person One who is capable of identifying existing and predictable conditions in the surroundings or on the work site which are hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has enough common sense to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them. Cranes or Hoists pose a serious safety hazard if not used properly. Ensure employees are trained on the hazards of using cranes, hoists and similar equipment for the lift /extraction of a diver from the water. Also ensure that such equipment is properly and safely maintained. Do not exceed the rated load capacity of the crane, hoist, slings, or other components. Never operate a hoist or crane that in your opinion or any other competent person s opinion is UNSAFE TO OPERATE. Rescue The sling or other device shall be properly seated and secured in the base of the lifting hook. Specific attention should be given to balancing of the load while lifting. The hoist operator must have a clear and unobstructed view of the entire travel area before operating the hoist. If this is not possible, a second or more persons must serve as scouts in the nearby area to assist and direct the hoist operator. The hoist operator must check the entire travel area to ensure it is clear, safe and secure before operating the hoist Evaluation Of Recognized Hazards At The Jobsite All hazards listed in "1.7 Determining Hazards: Assessment & Management" on page 6 (or other recognized dangers) must be dealt with appropriately by having controls put in place, understood and implemented. For example, any entanglement hazards such as moving machinery, stray lines, wires, etc. must be determined and avoidance planned for accordingly Means Of Rescue There must be a plan and procedure for rescue and the means available to enact it. Prompt connection of the Extraction Bridle to the Miller Easy Lift Diving Harness by trained personnel, along with proper anchorage and lifting devices, serves this purpose Maintenance And Service The Easy Lift harness and Extraction Bridle are made using high tensile strength polyester webbing and heavy duty stainless steel buckles, V-rings and D-rings, thereby minimizing maintenance. However, it is essential to thoroughly inspect the harness for damage and wear before and after each dive. DO NOT USE the harness or bridle if its serviceability has been compromised or if there is any doubt about its serviceability. Storage 1.16 Routine Donning and Doffing the Miller Diving Easy Lift Harness It is recommended that someone qualified assist the diver while donning the Harness with EGS (bailout) system to double check that it is properly worn and adjusted correctly. Adjust the straps in this order: A) Waist B) Legs C) Shoulders D) Chest An assistant should be on hand to aid in removal. 1) Open Waist Belt and Leg Loops. 2) Put Harness onto shoulders. Do only a preliminary adjustment of the height of the Shoulder Straps for now. After the Waist Strap and Leg Loops have all been secured, the final adjustments of the Shoulder Straps will be made. Slip arms through shoulder strap. Starting with the Left arm first will reduce the risk of damaging the exhaust valve when wearing a dry suit. MMXV Miller Diving. All rights reserved. Document #

22 Storage Routine Donning and Doffing the Miller Diving Easy Lift Harness Shoulder straps on for preliminary adjustment. Run the free end through the waist adjustment buckle on the opposite end of the strap 3) Secure and adjust Waist Strap. Feed the loose end of the Waist Strap through the Buckle and adjust so there is no pressure felt when breathing. The Waist Strap should be between the lower chest and mid-stomach level. Vertical Leg Strap Adjustment for Leg Loop Height: 4) It is recommended to set this height in the pre-donning fitting. Adjust the position (height) of the yellow leg loops to mid-way on the thigh. To adjust the height, weave the free end of the webbing out of the bottom of the Leg Loop Height Adjuster on the vertical leg strap. The webbing is now unlocked and can be adjusted to the proper height (mid-way on thigh). Once adjusted to the proper height, insert webbing back into the bottom of the adjuster to lock it into position. Once this adjustment is set it should not have to be adjusted on a daily basis unless the size of the user changes. Pass the waist strap around the waist and into the Waist Adjustment Buckle. To raise or lower the yellow leg strap you must first feed or untuck the end of the strap out of the Leg Loop Height Adjuster. 11 MMXV Miller Diving. All rights reserved. Document #

Storage Once correct height is made, be sure to tuck the adjustment end back into the Leg Loop Height Adjuster to lock webbing in place. 5) Secure and adjust the Leg Loops. Begin by bringing the strap across the leg so the black webbing on the yellow strap is facing out and away from the leg. The black webbing on the yellow strap should be facing out and away from the leg. Pull down to lower the vertical leg strap. The male end of the strap with the stainless steel leg loop adjuster must be turned at such an angle that it will pass through the fixed catch (receiving end). MMXV Miller Diving. 24 Storage Routine Donning and Doffing the Miller Diving Easy Lift Harness The male end of the strap with the stainless steel Leg Loop Adjuster must be turned to pass through the fixed catch Ensure proper orientation and mating of the stainless steel catch and leg loop adjuster. For final adjustment the shoulder strap adjustment buckles should be resting at the pectoral muscles and far below the shoulders. 7) Secure and adjust Chest Strap. Feed the loose end of the Chest Strap through the Adjustment Buckle and adjust. Once the male end is pushed entirely through the receiving end (fixed catch) it should be pulled away from the fixed catch far enough to ensure the proper orientation and mating components 6) Re-adjust Shoulder Straps until the adjustment buckles are resting about mid chest. Tighten the chest strap so there is no slack in the strap when secure. 8) Secure all of the adjustment ends of the webbing into the Strap Keepers. 9) Test the fit of the Harness by squatting down and standing up several times to ensure the diver has proper movement and that all adjustments have been made correctly. 13 MMXV Miller Diving.
