3 News 2018 / 2019 Lilu Light Festival Lucerne A festival at the cold onset of the new year: with its warm lights, Lucerne's first Lilu Light Festival Lucerne 10 to 20 January 2019 is sure to have you under its spell. Succumb to the enchantment of the luminous light installations in the city and discover Lucerne from a unique perspective. Opening Holiday Inn Express in Lucerne-Kriens The new Holiday Inn Express Lucerne-Kriens is scheduled to open in the second quarter of The 3-star establishment will have 160 rooms and suites. Two seminar rooms and a conference room will be available for meetings and large gatherings. More information to follow Opening Radisson Blu Hotel Andermatt The new Radisson Blu Hotel Andermatt will open step by step this winter. The hotel is built together with the Gotthard Residences. The hotel, in a separate wing, includes 179 rooms and suites, one restaurant, an inviting hotel bar with open fireplace as well as an event and convention facility with state-of-the-art furnishings and the Andermatt Concert Hall which seats over 500 guests

4 News 2018 / 2019 «SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun» This winter, the 10-person Oberalp Pass- Schneehüenerstock gondola lift will transport winter sports enthusiasts and excursion visitors up onto the mountain, ensuring smooth connections in both directions between Andermatt and Sedrun. The «SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun18» will be the largest ski resort in central Switzerland. Swiss sledge learning run Melchsee-Frutt 15 December 2018 sees the launch of a "sledge learning run", which shows users how to steer a sledge properly. The run starts at the upper terminus of the Melchsee-Frutt aerial cableway. Some 200 m in length, it leads to the old terminus and uses video clips and panels to show how to handle a sledge. Snow & Safety Days Engelberg-Titlis As part of the free Winter Program, local mountain guides will be ready to lead you to powder snow heaven. You will learn about equipment and safety techniques at the Avalanche Training Center Trübsee. 6 Inspiring story Star in three worlds Discoverer and returnee, purposeful and freedom-loving, eccentric yet quiet. All this is Fabian Bösch, the freestyle star from Engelberg in the Lucerne-Lake Lucerne Region. Fabian Bösch clinched the World Slopestyle title at the age of 17. A mere one year later, in 2015, the Engelberg native made his big coup at the US X-Games in the Big Air category. Bosch has been the first Swiss since 2004 to win gold in the world s biggest extreme sports event. The roots of his success are to be found in his passion for snow sports. It was all very much predestined given that he had one of Europe s most extensive ski regions complete with versatile runs on his doorstep. Bösch catches lines on four to five continents each season, covering thousands of kilometres in the process. He cruises the biggest ski regions and the world s most spectacular parks. Bösch and his friends carve their way down the slope, doing flips or going off-piste, depending on the weather. They cavort around in the snow, moving expertly and at speed. It rarely takes Fabian Bösch long to start executing some jumps. He spent years polishing his technique as a member of Engelberg Ski Club. But his love for tricks was at odds with the racing sport rules. Doing flips is simply a lot more fun, he admits. So he decided to switch to freestyle. The winter sport region of Engelberg offers an altitude difference of 2,000 metres, a paradise that can be justifiably proud of its freeriding terrain and après-ski. Or as Fabian Bösch says Engelberg can hold its own against the best ski regions in the world. 5
