1 AIM Meeting Info Our meetings are normally held at 7:00PM (social time 6:30) the 4th Wednesday of the month. This month is an exception due to our Annual AIM Film Festival. There is No General Meeting this month. This month at AIM August August 26, 2012 AIM Calendar August is FILM FESTIVAL time at AIM and this one was a BLAST!!!! Read all about it on pages 4 6. Plus; see page 7 to get a mini-recap of the whale of a good time that was had on the Isla Mujares trip. Much more info to come on that trip. Business Meeting September 6 Announcements. General Meeting September 26 General Meeting October 24 Get out those magic markers and mark your calendars for December 8!! That s the date of the AIM Christmas Party. 7 Had a Great time & Birthday in Isla Mujeres snorkeling with Whalesharks. On the first morning boat ride out, we came upon 6-8 Whalesharks having an early morning 'feeding' and blue open water. We were all let into the water at once and started our photographing and filming with them. There were so many at times together that you felt like you were going to be 'rammed' by one, or you couldn't get your camera ready fast enough for the others. Sometimes you couldn't avoid a little contact with one, especially when the huge tail fin was coming at you with its gentle swaying motion after passing just inches by. The next day we had larger swells, blue water and 3-4 Whalesharks, it was a little more difficult to spot them in the swells. We had some wonderful 'live' music entertainment and a fire dancer show one night, relaxing 'mediating' music for our morning breakfast (1hr to get toast and coffee, no bacon!, no potatoes!!) and we had to stop for 'the coldest beer in town, that it will hurt your teeth'! (NOT!) and a golf cart adventure of the island that was really something to experience and feel!! A GREAT time, with GREAT food GREAT adventures and GREAT pictures... THANKS Carol for putting the trip together!! Jonah. Close encounters were.many. This one did a tail standing-like behavior for quite a while allowing all of us to circle the gentle giant from all angles. Our sightings were.many close interactions unavoidable and the number of images.. to follow. LOTS of great images to share. 7
