1 2017 COR Classic A Invitational Hosted by the COR Swimming Association December 1-3, 2017 Sanction #: NT Held under the sanction of USA Swimming by North Texas Swimming, Inc. Venue: Facility: RISD Aquatic Center 1205 T.L. Townsend Rd. Rockwall, TX Located just north of I-30. From I-30 east, take the exit 68/Texas Route 205. Turn left on Goliad and right onto Yellow Jacket Lane. Follow to end by Football Stadium. 2 x 25 yard courses with starting blocks and touch pads. 8 x 9 ft. wide lanes in each racing course with a Daktronics Timing System. 4 x 25 yard lanes continuous warm up and warm down. All spectators must remain in the grandstands. No chairs are allowed in the bleacher seats except for stadium seats / stadium seat cushions. No standing along the railing or sitting on the bleacher stairs is permitted. Water Depth: In accordance with USA Swimming rules sections C(2) and D. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2C(4), and is not on file with USA Swimming. The minimum water depth, measured in accordance with Article , is 8 feet, 0 inches at the start end and the turn end is 8 feet, 0 inches measured for a distance of 1.0 meter to 5.0 meters from both end walls. Sanction: This meet has been sanctioned by North Texas Swimming and current USA Swimming rules and any relevant sections of the North Texas Policies & Procedures Manual will apply. All Swimmers must be registered athletes for 2017 with USA Swimming by the meet start date. North Texas Swimming does not allow on-deck USA Swimming registrations. Conduct of the sanctioned event shall conform in every respect to all technical and administrative rules of USA Swimming. Liability: IN GRANTING THIS SANCTION AND BY ANY PERSONS PARTICIPATION IN THE MEET IS UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED THAT USA SWIMMING, INC., NORTH TEXAS SWIMMING, INC., COR SWIMMING ASSOCIATION INC, ALL MEET OFFICIALS, RISD AQUATIC CENTER SHALL BE FREE FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITIES OR ANY CLAIMS FOR ANY DAMAGES, EVEN IF SUCH LIABILITIESOR CLAIMS ARE DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF SUCH ORGANIZATIONS, ARISING BY REASON OF INJURIES TO ANYONE DURING THE CONDUCT OF THE MEET. Damage to a facility when proved will cause the offending swimmer, if unattached or attached to a team, to be held accountable for repairs. 1

2 USA Swimming Registration: All swimmers, coaches and officials participating in this competition must be currently (2017) registered with USA Swimming. No swimmer will be permitted to compete unless the swimmer is a member as provided in Article 302. All should also be prepared to present their USA Swimming ID Card or Deck Pass as proof of their registration to the Meet Director or designee at any time. Swimmers who 1) late enter when possible; 2) need to be late entered because of clerical errors by the entering team or the meet host; 3) are not entered in this meet and choose to enter time trials, if offered, will be required to resent their USA Swimming ID card or Deck Pass. Current national and LSC regulations do not allow for exceptions to these policies. Meet Format: This is a Prelims and Finals meet. Friday s events will be Timed Finals. Saturday and Sunday s events will be compete as Prelims in the morning and Finals in the evening. 10 & Unders will swim the top 8 qualifiers from Prelims in Finals , and 15 & Over will swim the top 16 qualifiers from Prelims in Finals. The Finals scratch rules apply for this meet (see page 3 for Scratch information). Women s Prelims events will compete in Course 1. Men s Prelims events will compete in Course 2. The Meet Referee and Meet Director may re-assign pool assignments for gender/age groups to ensure the meet can run in the most efficient manner. The final course assignments will be published on the COR Swim Team s website, by November 27, 2017 and will be included in the Meet Program. The and IM, the 10 & Under and Free and the 13 & Over 1650 Free will compete together but scored by age group. See page 3 for 1650 Free information. The Meet Referee will decide if we will combine any other events. Flyover starts will be used during this meet. Qualifying Times: Swimmers are permitted to enter any event(s) in which they have achieved the A time standard or faster. Qualifying times standards as indicated by the USA Swimming Motivational Time Standards. f835a1e45b29/2020motivationaltimes-top16.pdf Age Up Date: The age a swimmer will compete will be his/her age on December 1, Championship Saturday and Sunday Finals Sessions will swim Consolation Final Heats and & Consolation Championship Finals Heats for 11-12, and 15 & Over age groups. 10 & Under Finals Heats: swimmers will compete in Championship Finals Heats only. All swimmers competing in Finals should meet behind their lane prior to the start of their Finals event(s). COR will provide ready chairs behind the timers for each lane. 2

3 Scratch Rule: Scratches for all final events are required as outlined in the current USA Swimming, Inc. rules D and E. Additionally, first and second alternates shall be announced along with the qualifiers for the consolation final heat and/or the championship final heat. These alternates shall not be penalized if unavailable to compete in the Finals. For championship and consolation finals, those swimmers who qualify and then fail to declare their intention to scratch to the Clerk of Course within thirty (30) minutes of the announcement of the finalists for that event, then fail to scratch within thirty (30) minutes of their last event of that session and fail to compete in the event in the finals will be barred from all subsequent competition in the meet. Swimmers may be excused from this penalty by the Meet Referee because of illness, injury or situations beyond the swimmers control. However, swimmers who no-show for Finals, unexcused by the Meet Referee, will pay a fine of $50.00 to be reinstated into the meet. Checks will be made payable to COR Swim Team for a Saturday finals no-show. If the no-show is on the final day of a swimmer s competition, a $50.00 fine is levied. The final day fines must be paid before that swimmer will be eligible to participate in the next North Texas Swimming LSC meet. Checks for last day no-shows must be made payable to North Texas Swimming, Inc.. All fines collected will go to the Bill Nixon Memorial Scholarship Fund. Scratching for ALL PRELIMINARY and TIMED FINAL events is required. For timed final events, scratching is accomplished during the positive check in. A scratch card box will be available at the Clerk of Course for scratching from preliminary events. Scratch Deadlines for Prelims: Friday Events: Friday, Dec 1 by 4:15 PM Saturday Prelim Events: Friday, Dec 1 by 6:00 PM Sunday Prelim Events: Saturday, Dec 2 by 6:00 PM There is no penalty for a no-show or Declared False Start in pre-seeded preliminary heats or in timed finals. However, a no-show or Declared False Start will count as one of a swimmer s individual events for that day Free: This event will swim as an open event for 13 & Over swimmers who have achieved the A time standard in either the 1000 or 1650 Free for their respective age group (or LCM equivalent). The fastest 32 female and 32 male swimmers entered will compete in this event. Seeding preference will be times entered as 1650 SCY, then 1500 LCM, followed by 1000 SCY. If time permits, COR will include an additional heat to allow more swimmers an opportunity to compete. This event will be timed final with the slowest heats competing at the end of Sunday prelims. Heats will swim fastest to slowest in their respective assigned courses. The top 8 times for both female and male swimmers will compete in Sunday s Finals session, during regular event order, simultaneously in their respective assigned courses. Swimmers competing in the prelims session must provide their own timer and lap counter. Timers will be provided for swimmers competing in the Finals session Psyche Sheets will be posted to the COR Swim Team website, by Monday, November 27, Swimmers must check-in for this event at the Clerk of Course by 5:00 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2017 and may declare a preference for Prelims or Finals. Swimmers who do not make the top 32 cut, may late enter an additional event on Sunday in which they have the A time standard, free of charge, as long as there is an open lane within existing heats. NO NEW HEATS WILL BE CREATED. 3

4 Relays: Check-In Information: Entry Restrictions: Entry Deadline: Entry Procedures: Entry Fees: Top 8 relays will compete in the Finals sessions per age group. Each team is permitted to enter a maximum of 3 relays per event (A, B & C). 15 & Over relays will be 13 & Over Open that way smaller teams may fill additional relays, even though we have relays. Pre-assigned relay cards will be provided to coaches at the Clerk of Course. Completed relay cards with swimmers names and order must be submitted to the Clerk of Course by Friday s and Saturday s 5:00 PM deadline. If a relay card is not turned in by the deadline that relay will be scratched, no exceptions. Please indicate preference for morning or evening for Sunday s relays only. NO RELAY ONLY SWIMMERS. Pre-seeded events do not require check-in. Positive Check-in is required for deckseeded events on Friday, the 1650 Freestyle and all relays at the Clerk of Course. Check-In Deadlines for Prelims: Friday: Swimmers must check-in for 400 IM and 500 Free by 4:15 PM 1650 Free: Swimmers must check-in by 5:00 PM on Saturday, December 2 Relays: Coaches must turn in relay cards to the Clerk of Course before 5:00 PM on Friday (for Saturday s relays) and 5:00 PM on Saturday (for Sunday s relays). COR will cap the total number of swimmers in the meet. Teams interested in participating must contact Dan Hafner for a meet invitation (daniel.hafner@gmail.com). Swimmers are permitted to enter up to two (2) individual events on Friday and three (3) individual events and one (1) relay per day / session on Saturday and Sunday, for a maximum of eight (8) individual events and two (2) relays. Swimmers may enter additional events, but must scratch to reach the daily and / or meet entries limit. Coaches may enter swimmers with non-conforming times (Long Course Meters); however, seeding preference will be granted to those entered with times from performances in Short Course Yards. ALL Entries must be received no later than 6:00PM, Thursday, November 16, 2017, as an attached file to meetentries@corswim.org. No phone or fax entries will be accepted. All teams must submit entries using Hy-Tek Team Manager or its equivalent to the Entries Chair. is the preferred method of delivery; if you need to submit entries in another format, please contact the Entries Chair to make arrangements. Please include a Meet Entry Report of your entries, listing the swimmer, USA Swimming ID and entries by swimmer in your s to the entries chair. All entries must be submitted using Hy- Tek Team Manager Software via correspondence to the entries chair. Entry times must be submitted in 100ths of seconds. All entry times must be provable in the USA Swimming, Inc. SWIMS database. Penalty for entering with an unproven time will be removal of the swimmer from that event without refund of entry fee. Entries cost $10.00 per individual event, $20.00 per relay. A $3.00 surcharge per swimmer will apply per North Texas Swimming, Inc. Rules and Regulations. Please include a Meet Entry Fees Report with your payment. Entry fees must be received by 4:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2017, or your entries will be removed from the meet. Refunds will not be given for any reason. 4

Box Richardson, TX Deck Entries: Late entries; swimmers must be entered in the meet by the November 16, 2017 deadline in at least one (1) individual event to be eligible for late / deck entries. Swimmers that wish to late enter must provide a hard copy printout of current times from the USA Swimming, Inc. SWIMS database, or DECK PASS, proving an A standard for the event(s) they wish to enter. The printout will be retained by the Clerk of Course for meet records. There will be NO exceptions! Late entries are $20 per event and must be entered 30 minutes prior to the start of a session. NO LATE ENTRIES FOR RELAYS. However, late entries for all pre-seeded events and the 1650 Freestyle are ONLY available when there is at least one (1) open lane in an event. No new heats will be created. Late entries will close promptly each day 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of timed final or preliminary sessions. Operation of a drone or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete / coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present. Unaccompanied Swimmers: Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water or from the side NOT on the starting block. When unaccompanied by a membercoach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. 5

6 Swimmer Photographs & Videos: There may be one or more photographers / videographers on deck at this meet, approved by USA Swimming. In the event such personnel are present, parents or guardians of swimmers under the age of 18 who do not wish to have photos or videos of their athletes made are required to contact the Meet Director prior to the beginning of warm-up. Photographers and videographers are strongly encouraged to stay out of the area immediately behind the starting blocks, but if present are specifically prohibited from making shots during the start phase of any race. Deck Changing: Deck changes are prohibited. Swimmers with Disabilities: Coaches and or swimmers are responsible for notifying the meet referee of any disability prior to the competition and for providing their own assistant or equipment. However, coaches/swimmers may contact the meet director at least 2 weeks in advance of the meet to reserve proper equipment. In any meet sanctioned or approved by North Texas Swimming, Inc., which may include one or more swimmers with visual, hearing, mental, or physical disabilities; the judging of such competitors shall be in strict accordance with the current USA Swimming Rules and Regulations, i.e., Article 105. Coaches and/or athletes must notify the Meet Referee before the event begins if they are to be considered to be judged under Article 105. Officials: Coaches Credentials: Timers: Scoring: All currently (2017) certified and in-training USA Swimming officials are cordially invited to participate. All deck officials must be registered with USA Swimming for 2017 and have a current Background Check and Athlete Protection Course acknowledged by USA Swimming. Please the Meet Referee prior to the meet with your availability and current certifications. Please report to the Meet Referee at least one hour prior to the scheduled start time of any session to receive your assignments. An Observer from USA Swimming will be at the meet for any officials who wish to receive a National Evaluation. A request to officiate and application for National Evaluation will sent via request. All coaches (and officials) must have valid USAS Registration cards or Deck Pass to access the pool deck. Coaches must check-in at the front office to turn-in Team Information Sheet (last page of Meet Information), pick up team packets, athletes and coaches deck passes. The COR Swim Team will provide hand / backup timers for this meet but volunteers from visiting teams may be needed. COR will provide timers for Friday night s 400 IM and 500 Free events. However, swimmers competing in the 500 free will need to provide their own lap counter. Swimmers competing in the 1650 will need to provide their own timer and lap counter. All NTSI sanctioned meets shall be scored in conformance with USA Swimming Rules and Regulations as follows: Individual: (1st to 8th) (9th to 16th) 6

7 10 & Under events scoring, for places 9 to 16, will be done via prelims. Relays: (1st to 8th) Relays will score the top 8 places only. Awards: Custom medals will be given 1 st through 3 rd place. Custom ribbons will be awarded from 4th through 8th place in all events. Fun Consolation Final Heat Winner prizes will be given. Relays will receive custom ribbons for 1 st through 8 th place. High Point Team: Combined team championship 1st place Girls team 1st place Boys team Small Team Award: 1st place Team Award, combined Girls and Boys eligible teams are teams having 20 or less swimmers in the meet. Individual: High Point, Girls Swimmer High Point, Boys Swimmer Awards must be picked up during the meet, Awards will not be mailed. Concessions: Hospitality: Concessions will be sold by RISD in the spectator area on the upper level of the swim center. A hospitality area will be provided for coaches and officials on the deck, in the wet/dry classroom. Meet Programs Heat Sheets: Will be available for $20.00, sold in the front pool lobby, with two (2) coupons that may be redeemed for Saturday and Sunday s Finals Heat Sheets at no extra cost. Taping: Pursuant to USA Swimming Rule E, Any type of tape on the body is not permitted unless approved by the Referee, please check with the Meet Referee as to whether or not a specific case of taping will be permitted. However, pursuant to official ruling regarding the use of Kinesio tape made by Dan McAllen, Chair, USA Swimming Rules and Regulations Committee, dated Feb. 1, 2011; Kinesio tape is performance enhancing. The use of Kinesio tape and like products is specifically not permitted under USA Swimming Rule

11 NORTH TEXAS SWIMMING, Inc. Safety Guidelines and Warm-up Procedures (Adjusted according to pools and current policies and procedures.) A. WARM-UP PROCEDURES I. Assigned Warm-up Procedures a. Warm-up lanes and times will be assigned to competing teams based on number of entrants. b. All warm-up activities will be coordinated by the coach(es) supervising that lane. c. One-way dive sprints may be done only under the direct supervision of the coach(es). II. Open Warm-up Procedures LANE USE POOL PUSH/PACE DIVES/SPRINTS GENERAL WARMUP 10 Lanes 1 and 10 2 and 9 3 through 8 8 Lanes 1 and 8 2 and 7 3 through 6 6 Lanes 1 and 6 2 and 5 3 and 4 a. The first half of the assigned warm-up time shall be general warm-up for all lanes. b. Push/Pace lanes will push off one or two lengths from starting end. c. Sprint lanes are for diving from blocks or for backstroke starts in specified lanes at designated times one way only. d. Dive sprints may only be done under the direct supervision of the coach. e. There will be no diving in the general warm-up lanes circle swimming only. III. Safety Guidelines a. Coaches are responsible for the following: 1. Instructing swimmers regarding safety guidelines and warm-up procedures as they apply to conduct at meets and practices. 2. Actively supervising their swimmers throughout the warm-up sessions, at meets, and all practices. 3. Maintaining as much contact with their swimmers AS POSSIBLE, both verbal and visual, throughout the warm-up period. b. The host team will be responsible for the following: 1. A minimum of four marshals who report to and receive instructions from the Meet Referee and/or Director shall be on deck during the entire warm-up session(s). 2. Marshals will have the authority to remove from the deck for the remainder of a warmup session, any swimmer or coach found to be in violation of these procedures. 3. The host team shall provide signs for each lane at both ends of the pool, indicating their designated use during warm-ups. 4. Warm-up times and lane assignments will be published in the meet information and posted at several locations around the pool area and the following statement will appear in the meet information: South Texas Swimming Safety Guidelines and Warm-up Procedures will be in effect at this meet. 5. An announcer will be on duty for the entire warm-up session to announce lane and/or time changes and to assist with the conduct of the warm-up. 6. Hazards in locker rooms, on deck, or in areas used by coaches, swimmers, or officials will be either removed or clearly marked. NOTE: Host Clubs, with the consent of the Meet Referee, may modify the time schedule or recommended lane assignments depending on pool configuration, number of swimmers, or other considerations; so long as safety considerations are not compromised. Any such changes will be announced and/or prominently posted in the pool area. 11
