1 International Ice Swimming Association World Cup Open Polish Winter Swimming Championships 3Stawy Silesia Winter Swimming 2018 Rules & Regulations I. Competition Objectives: 1. To name the winter swimming champions of Poland. 2. To promote winter swimming not only as a recreational activity but as a competitive sport. 3. To promote health and safety procedures by the water, in the water, and on ice. II. Organiser: 1. Klub Sportowy Silesia Winter Swimming. 2. City of Katowice 3. I. Plavecký Klub Otužilců Praha. III. IV. Date and Location of the competition: 1. The competition will be held in Katowice; 'Dolina 3 Stawów' (Valley of 3 Ponds pond Szlomiok by the beach). GPS coordinates: 50 14'30.9"N 19 02'47.4"E. 2. The date is set on 13th of January The starting time will be at 9.00 A.M. The detailed schedule of the event will be published in a separate announcement. 3. Distances: a) 1000m IV Open Polish Championships classified in IISA World Cup b) 1000m classified in Czech Winter Swimming Cup c) 750m; d) 500m; e) 250m; f) 100m. 4. Route: a) 1000m, 750m, 500m, 250m Distance: laps 250 meters. b) 100m Distance: straight line marked out by buoys In the case of ice cover, the route will be adapted to lengths of the ice-pool. Registrations and Fees 1. Registration for 100m, 250m, 500m and 750m and 1000m (Czech Winter Swimming Cup) events will be accepted in Polish, Czech or English, by only at: zapisy@silesiawinterswimming.com no later than 11:59pm 8th January Other forms of registration or registrations placed after this deadline will not be accepted. Group registration by the Český Svaz Plaveckých Sportů as part of the Czech Cup will be accepted. 2. Persons willing to participate in the 1000m (classified in IISA World Cup) race are required to register on the International Ice Swimming Association website: no later than 11:59pm (Polish local time) on 8th January, Registration in any other form or after this deadline, will not be accepted. 3. The Organiser will not accept registration at the event Office. 4. The Organiser reserves the right to limit the number of participants, provided that the participants at the distance of 1000 meters will have registration priority. 5. 2 a) A written consent must be given stating that hereby rules and regulations have been accepted and will be observed. b) All participants are taking part in the event at their own risk and responsibility and fully understand the perils resulting from its character c) you must be in good health, and without medical contraindications for participation in competitions held in cold water including the presentation of the results of an ECG performed at least one day prior to the competition (but no later than one year from the date of the competition confirmation of this fact will be in the form of a handwritten signature on the relevant statement supplied by the organiser d) A medical certificate confirming the absence of any contraindications for participation in the winter swimming competition produced at the request of the organizer. The certificate must be issued no later than one year from the date of the competition. The doctor issuing the medical certificate may also suggest a shorter term of validity; e) be at least 18 years of age one day prior to the competition, or submit written signed consent by the entrants legal guardian to the organiser s office on the day of the competition f) readiness, on the day of the event, to submit to an alcohol breathalyzer test administered by a member of the police force or other persons designated by the Organiser. 6. Upon registration and paying registration fee the participants automatically accept to enter the competition at their own responsibility. 7. Upon registration and paying registration fee the participants automatically accept a) All rules and regulations stated b) consent for the processing of personal data for the purposes of the competition, including public disclosure of the start list, competition results, etc; c) The Photo/Video/radio/internet/printing release of participants' image publication by the Organiser or competition partners d) consent for the processing of personal data and transferring results to Poland Ice Cup, Czech Winter Swimming Cup and IISA World Cup competition tables, and the subsequent processing and publication of these results; e) the right of the Organiser to pass the participants personal data to official competition sponsors or partners in order to conduct additional classifications, contests or promotions 8. The competition registration fee amounts to PLN or Euro. Persons associated with the Český Svaz Plaveckých Sportů pay a fee of Czech crowns. The fee is accepted only in cash and paid in competition office during registration. 9. Fees are not refundable or transferable on other participants. 10.Registration should include the following information: Full Name Address Date of Birth City Country Chosen distance Confirmation of qualification V. 3 m Polish championships will be held in accordance with IISA regulations m, 250m, 500m, 750m, and 1000m (classified in Czech Winter swimming Cup, not classified in the Open Polish Championships) will take place in accordance with the rules of the Czech Cup in Winter Swimming An English version of this document is available as an appendix to this document 4. Persons who are not classified in the Czech Winter Swimming Cup may participate in the event following individual verification and having fulfilled the conditions of the present document. 5. Verification of entrants: a) participation in Polish Championships 1000m verification of an individual entry of having a documented completion of a distance of at least 750m in water of a temperature of 4 C or lower or at least having swum 750m in water flowing at a rate of less than 9m/min (downstream) in water at 4 C or lower within one year preceding the date of the event and having met all other conditions in these regulations b) 750m verification of an individual entry of having a documented completion of a distance of at least 500m in water of a temperature of 4 C or lower or at least having swum 750m in water flowing at a rate of less than 9m/min (downstream) in water at 4 C or lower within one year preceding the date of the event and having met all other conditions in these regulations c) 500m verification of an individual entry of having a documented completion of a distance of at least 250m in water of a temperature of 4 C or lower or at least having swum 500m in water flowing at a rate of less than 9m/min (downstream) in water at 4 C or lower within one year preceding the date of the event and having met all other conditions in these regulations d) No additional verification is necessary for participation in competitions of distances 250m and 100m e) Entrants taking part in the Czech Cup in Winter Swimming keep all manner of starting classes and qualifications in accordance with the Czech Cup in Winter Swimming 6. The verification made by the Organizor will be the basis of admittance and will be final. 7. An sent by the Organizor confirming the registration is at the same time the confirmation of qualifications 8. Competitors participating in the main course of 1000m (IV Polish Championship Cup classified in IISA World Cup) event may also take part in a second race in the 100m to 1000m distances (not classified in Polish World Cup and classified in Czech Winter Swimming Cup). Participation in a second race is only possible having obtained consent of the Organizer. In addition, the Organizer, a lifeguard, judge or any other person designated by these may refuse a competitor from participating in a second race. This decision is final. 9. Competitors not taking part in the 1000m (IISA) may only participate in one selected distance. 10.Participants must personally sign the Registration card attached to this rules and regulation document prior the start of the competition otherwise a participant will not be allowed to take part in the competition. 11.No accommodation is provided by the Organizor for the Participants. 12.The entrance for the spectators is free of charge. The Organizor reserves the right 3 / 8

4 VI. to separate the zone for the participants where the admittance for the spectators and other persons unauthorized will be prohibited. 13.The Organizor permits the photographing and filming during the competitions for the purpose of further publications. 14.Spectators and competitors are prohibited from stepping onto the ice. Failure to comply with the ban may serve as a basis for disqualification. The Organizer may, as an exception, grant permission for certain persons to step onto the ice. Prizes 1. A separate announcement will be made stating the precise nature of the reward. VII. Additional Information 1. All disputes will be mediated by an appointed referee. 2. The championships will go ahead regardless of weather conditions however, the temperature must not be below -20ºC. 3. The maximum time an entrant may stay in the water (counted from the start time) cannot be longer than indicated in appendix 2 and 3 of the present document. In the case of this time limit being exceeded, the organiser, lifeguard or any other person authorised by the organiser or lifeguard may remove the entrant from the competition. Exceeding the time limit in the water (time measured from the start to the finish of the race or removal of the entrant from the water) results in immediate disqualification. 4. In case of adverse weather conditions that may affect the safety of participants, the Organiser reserves the right to cancel the championships, shorten the race distances or to terminate the race immediately. The Organiser decision in this matter is final. 5. The use of any substance, externally or internally, to maintain or increase body temperature, is strictly forbidden. 6. Participation in any competition under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other psychoactive substances is strictly forbidden. The organiser, lifeguard or any other person authorised by the organiser or the lifeguard may prevent the entrant from participating in the event or removing the entrant from the event should it be suspected that the entrant is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other psychoactive substances, or is deemed to be a threat to themselves or other competitors, the organiser, or spectators 7. In the case that the organisers, lifeguard or any appointed representative deems a participant unfit to finish the race they have the right to remove the entrant at any given moment. Subsequently, the organisers's decision in this case is final The Organiser decision in this case is final. 8. The route will be secured by adequate emergency services. 9. In case of ice on the lake, the race will be held in an ice pool. This may result in more swimming laps, modification of distance, etc. 10.The participant's personal items that are left unattended are his/her own responsibility. The organisers will not be held responsible for such personal items. 11.The organiser is not responsible to the fullest extent of applicable law for any damage to property caused by the participant's negligence or intentional acts or omissions and is exempt of the obligation to repair these damages. 12.The participant participates in the competition at his/her own risk. The Organiser is exempt to the fullest extent of applicable law of responsibility for any damage to participants' health including body injuries or health deterioration that may result from participation in the competition and is exempt of the obligation to repair such 4 / 8

5 damages. 13.The organiser is not responsible for cancellation of the event in case of unforeseen circumstances. 14.More information relating to the events and their organisation is available at as well as Silesia Winter Swimming on Facebook. VIII. Objections 1. All queries and objections must be submitted to the organisers within 30 minutes after the end of the race. 2. All queries and objections must be submitted to the organisers, or a person appointed by them, (at the organisers's office) in writing. This must be either in the English or Polish language. 3. A refundable security deposit of the amount of PLN must be paid along with the complainant. This amount will be refunded if the complaint has been found to be correct. 4. The written complaint must include: The full name of the complainant, their signature, and a brief description of the complaint. 5. The organisers's decision regarding the consideration of the complaint is final. IX. The Organiser reserves the right to alter and change the terms and conditions. In case of interpretation doubts concerning these rules and regulations document its polish version will prevail. XI. 8 Appendix no 3 International Ice Swimming Association World Cup Open Polish Winter Swimming Championships 3 Stawy Silesia Winter Swimming 2018 Excerpt of Rules and Regulations of the Czech Cup in Winter Swimming I. Swimming attire allowed 1. Two swimming caps of which one may be neoprene 2. Swimming goggles 3. Swimming costume (other than one swimming cap may not be made of neoprene): a) Men shorts or briefs, b) Women one or two-piece swimming costume without shorts or sleeves II. Regulations regarding conduct in the water 1. Swimming style of choice 2. The deliberate catching onto route markers or safety or floatation devices is interpreter as a call for assistance, resulting in the removal of the entrant from the competition and their immediate disqualification 3. The signals for calls for assistance are: a) raising a hand b) a shout or cry for HELP c) Catching on to any part of the markers or equipment in the water 4. The maximum time a swimmer may stay in the water is dependent on the water temperature: a) up to 4ºC is 22 minutes, b) from 4ºC to 8ºC is 26 minutes, c) from 8ºC is 30 minutes. For the participants of age between 15 and 18 years old the time of stay in the water shortens by half of the abovementioned times. 5. Persons who are under 15 years of age one day prior to the event may not participate in the competition. 6. It is forbidden, at any point in time during the competition, to rebound off the bottom of the reservoir. 8 / 8
