1 Dear Central Zone LSC Diversity Coordinators: The Central Zone is proud to premier the first Central Zone Diversity Meet, to be held at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois on June 8 9, This packet has been put together to direct you to hotels and dining in the area and allow you access to the meet entry packet to help you start planning and recruiting your team to join the excitement. The host club, Patriot Aquatics, is well on their way to organizing a memorable event for all attendees from athletes to coaches and Officials, from parents to volunteers, from siblings to friends, all will be welcome to join in the festivities. As you approach the process of putting your LSC team together remember the purpose and reason behind this event by reflecting on the mission statement of the USA Swimming Diversity and Inclusion Committee: To assist USA Swimming in creating a culture of inclusion and opportunity for people of diverse backgrounds, including, but not limited to, race, age, income, ethnicity, religion, gender, and sexual orientation. The Central Zone Diversity Meet is the opportunity to compete. This meet is an initiative to embrace and celebrate our own diversity, and to allow the success of competitive goals, establish friendships, learn from each other, and share the love of our sport Swimming. We encourage all LSCs to work on getting their process of selection and their staffs and teams together to join everyone in June at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. As we move along towards this event I will be sending out added pieces of information as to invited guests, speakers and any other social activities that develop. The meet packet attached will not change in events or structure. If you have additional people from your LSC that you would like me to include in those s please send me their names and addresses. 2 Illinois Swimming and Patriot Aquatic Club are excited to be hosting the first ever Central Zone Diversity Meet. We are looking forward to having your teams join us for a great weekend of swimming, learning, and fellowship. Our facility is located in Lincolnshire, IL which is 30 miles North of Chicago. The Patriot Natatorium is part of Adali Stevenson High School and is the premier facility in the state. Along with our Long Course facility we have a Field House that is connected to the pool for athletes, parents, and vendors. The Lincolnshire Area has much to offer during your visit. There are 5 hotels within a 2 mile drive of the pool to make the commute easy. There are also 15 restaurants in this same 2 mile range that are perfect for any dining mood you and your swimmers may be in. You will find a listing of all these establishments accompanying this letter. On Saturday, June 8 after the meet we will be having an athlete meal at Stevenson High School in the Field House. We want to give the athletes a chance to unwind from the day of competition and get to know each other. The bonds forged in this type of environment can last a lifetime. We will also have speakers during the meal that will give their stories and expertise to the athletes. After the athlete meal we will also have a Coaches Social to allow the coaches to get to know one another and mingle. We are excited and honored to have the opportunity to host you all for this first time event. It is going to be a tremendous weekend of swimming, and one in which a culture of inclusion and opportunity for people of diverse background is cultivated.

Stevenson High School (see attached map) 1 Stevenson Dr. FACILITY Patriot Aquatic Center is an 8-lane 50-meter competition pool, with its own Colorado 6000 timing system and 8-lane scoreboard. Water depth at the start end of the south pool is 4 feet and 14 feet in the north pool. There is seating for approximately 900 spectators. The competition course has been certified in accordance with USA Swimming s rule C(4) the copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming. Check-in sheets will be posted prior to the start of warm-ups, and will be removed 30 minutes prior to the start of the session. If you are not checked-in, you will be scratched from that session. 7 ELIGIBILITY Swimmer s age as of June 8, 2013 will determine his or her age for the entire meet. Only USA Swimming registered athletes are eligible. All swimmers must be registered prior to competing. Entries listed as "Registration applied for" will not be accepted. Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. ENTRIES ENTRY FEES ENTRY RULES & SAFETY Swimmers may enter up to 4 events per day (excluding relays). Entry times should be in Long Course Meters. NTs will not be accepted for this meet. If a swimmer doesn t have a Long Course Time please use their fastest time in the event for SCY or SCM. SCM and SCY entries will be considered non-conforming and seeded in the following order LCM, SCM, and SCY. $5.00 per individual entry $10.00 per relay entry $2.00 surcharge per swimmer entered Make all checks out to Patriot Aquatic Club, with one check per club. Entries are to be submitted via to patriotaquatic@gmail.com in Hy-Tek format. A completed and signed Team Summary and payment must be received by the entry deadline. All current USA Swimming and ISI Rules and Regulations apply. MEMBERSHIP USA SWIMMING SWIMMERS WITH DISABILITIES AWARDS CLERK SEEDING All ISI and USA Swimming safety rules will be strictly enforced. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms. Insurance regulations require that all swimmers, coaches, judges, starters, and referees be a current member of USA Swimming, Inc. It is each club's responsibility to register their swimmers, coaches, and officials. Swimmers, coaches, and officials who are not current members of USA Swimming, Inc. may not participate in the meet nor be on the pool deck. Be sure to display your credentials in order to gain access to the pool deck. In accordance with USA Swimming Rules, Articles 105 and , the Meet Referee has the authority to accommodate swimmers with disabilities. It is the responsibility of the coaches or swimmers to contact the Meet Referee with specific requests. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st - 8th place in each individual event, and 1st - 3rd in relay events for all events. The host club reserves the right to assign 10 & Under events to a clerk of the course. All events will be seeded slowest to fastest. Non-conforming times will be seeded in the following order LCM, SCM, SCY.

8 RELAYS Swimmers competing in relays must be entered in at least one individual event. Relay Sheets will be handed out to coaches at the beginning of each session relays are swum. Please fill out and return relay sheets within one hour after the start of the session. STARTS At the meet referee s discretion, fly-over starts will be implemented in order to ensure that each session is completed in a timely manner. CONCESSIONS PARKING & ADMISSIONS RESULTS Food and beverage will be available. Food may be eaten in the glass commons, the area behind the starting end of the pool with a glass wall that permits viewing of the meet. NO FOOD OR DRINK WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE POOL STANDS OR ON THE POOL DECK. No smoking is allowed anywhere on the high school campus by state law. Participants and spectators are requested to park in the "D" Lot. There will be an admissions charge for all spectators 15 and older. Final results will be ed to all participating clubs following the meet. Live results will be available on the PAC website is patriotaquaticclub.org. AUDIO VISUAL DECK CHANGING Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms. Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is not appropriate and is prohibited. Special Events On Saturday, June 8 there will be an athlete dinner following the meet at Stevenson High School. There will also be a Coach s Social following the athlete dinner. During the athlete s dinner we will have speakers to present to the athletes.

11 Central Zone Multi-Cultural / Diversity Meet Stevenson High School June 8-9, 2013 Warm-Up Procedure A. WARM-UP PROCEDURES General Warm-up 1. All warm-up lanes will be assigned by team, and each team is allowed to do as they wish with their warm-up lane during the warm-up period. B. SAFETY GUIDELINES 1. Coaches Responsibilities a. Coaches shall instruct their swimmers regarding safety guidelines and warm-up procedures as they apply to conduct at meets and practices. b. Coaches shall actively supervise their swimmers throughout the warm-up session at meets and all practices. 2. Host Team Responsibilities a. Marshaling 1) A minimum of two (2) marshals, who report to and receive instructions from the Meet Referee, shall be on the deck during the warm-up session. 2) Marshals shall be current members of USA Swimming. 3) Marshals shall have the authority to remove from the deck, for the remainder of the warm-up session, any swimmer or coach who is in violation of safety or warm-up procedures. b. The host team shall provide signs for each lane at both ends of the pool, which indicate the designated use during warm-up. c. Warm-up times and lane assignments shall be published in the meet information and posted at several locations around the pool area. The following statement shall appear in the information: Illinois Swimming, Inc. Safety Guidelines and Warm-up Procedures will be in affect at this meet. d. An announcer shall be on duty for the entire Warm-up session to announce lane and/or time changes and to assist with the conduct of the Warm-up. e. Hazards in locker rooms, on the deck area or in areas used by coaches, swimmers, spectators, or officials shall be removed or clearly marked. 3. Miscellaneous: a. Backstrokes shall ensure that they are not starting at the same time as a swimmer on the blocks. b. Swimmers shall not jump or dive into the pool to stop another swimmer on a recalled start. c. Swimmers are required to exit the pool upon completion of their warm-up to allow other swimmers adequate warm-up time. The pool is not for visiting or playing during the warm-up session. d. Warm-up procedures shall be enforced for any breaks scheduled during the competition. e. The Referee may restrict use of bands, hand paddles, or fins during warm-up. The Referee shall have control over mitigation actions necessary to relieve situations deemed as dangerous or impairing the safety of other swimmers.
