OPENING BIG EAST PLAY Seton Hall begin the BIG EAST portion of its schedule last weekend and split a pair of road matches. The Pirates dropped a hard-fought match at defending champion Creighton on Friday, but bounced back with a five-set road win at Georgetown on Sunday. It s the first time since 2010 that The Hall has opened conference play at 1-1. SCHROEDER EARNS HONOR ROLL Junior Danielle Schroeder was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The outside hitter led the Pirates in kills in both matches last weekend. She had 11 kills at Creighton and 15 kills at Georgetown. Against the Hoyas, she also had three aces, five digs, five blocks and an impressive.400 attack percentage. HANSEN PASSES 900 Senior Amanda Hansen collected 19 kills over the weekend, and in doing so, passed the 900-kill mark for her career. Entering this weekend s matches, she needs just 29 kills to pass former Pirate Silvia Watson and enter Seton Hall s top-10 in career kills. SCHROEDER PASSES 500 Junior Danielle Schroeder reached the 500-kill mark for her career last weekend with 26 kills over the two matches. She led the Pirates twice in that category, and thus, was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. FIRST SET IMPORTANCE You can never underestimate the importance of getting off to a strong start in volleyball. Seton Hall is a perfect 7-0 this season when winning the first set. Conversely, the Pirates are 0-7 when losing the first set. GOING THE DISTANCE Seton Hall is proving to be one of the better conditioned teams in the Northeast. The longer the matches go, the better the Pirates seem to fare. To date, The Hall has won four of five matches that have gone to five sets so far this season. She now has 1,271 for her career. Former teammate Stacey Manthorpe is fifth on the digs list with 1,366. HANSEN KILLS 20 Senior Amanda Hansen recorded a career-high 20 kills in Seton Hall s victory over Binghamton on Saturday. To make the feat even more impressive, she had only two attack errors in 41 attempts. It s the first time a Pirate has recorded 20 kills in a match since Stacey Manthorpe had 22 vs. DePaul on Nov. 15, BETTER TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE In Seton Hall s five-set victory over Binghamton on Saturday, freshman Sophia Coffey recorded a career-high 51 assists. It s the highest total for a Pirate since Shelbey Manthorpe registered 66 vs. DePaul on Nov. 15, TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY As any self-respecting Pirate knows, September 19 is Talk Like A Pirate Day. This year, Seton Hall won matches vs. Cornell and Binghamton and improves to 10-2 all-time on this national holiday for Pirates and Pirate fans. BLOCKING ON UP At the Cornell Invitational, Amanda Hansen passed former Pirate Jennifer Mumby for fourth place on Seton Hall s all-time blocks list. She now has 433 for her career. Silvia Watson is third on the list with 463 blocks. 600TH WIN Seton Hall s victory over Binghamton on Sept. 19 was the 600th win in program history. The Pirates are now in 28+ seasons. 10 BLOCK MATCHES SEASON CAREER STREAK Amanda Hansen PIRATES WIN SETON HALL CLASSIC Seton Hall won all three of its matches in its own Seton Hall Classic over the weekend, losing only two sets along the way. The Pirates swept Notre Dame on Friday before beating Hofstra in five sets on Saturday and sweeping Temple in the championship match Saturday evening. Visit

Grace Forren, Amanda Hansen and Cherise Hennigan were all honored for their three-match performance. A HISTORIC WIN Seton Hall swept Notre Dame on Sept. 4, giving the Pirates their first-ever victory over the Fighting Irish in 20 all-time matches. Prior to the Pirates victory, The Hall had won only four sets in 19 matches. FOURNIER, HANSEN PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST Junior Tessa Fournier and senior Amanda Hansen were named to the 12-person 2015 All-BIG EAST Preseason Team. Creighton s Jess Bird was named Preseason Player of the Year. PRESEASON POLL Seton Hall was picked sixth in this year s BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll. The Pirates were also picked sixth last season, but finished second in the conference with a record 15 BIG EAST victories. Creighton was the unanimous conference favorite, followed by Marquette and Xavier. St. John s was picked fourth and Butler fifth. Seton Hall fell to Creighton, 3-1, in the 2014 BIG EAST Championship game. BIG EAST DIGITAL NETWORK The BIG EAST Conference announced its BIG EAST Digital Network schedule for and four Seton Hall volleyball matches are included. The Pirates will have one home match and three road matches featured on the Fox Sports Go app. A rematch of the BIG EAST Championship last year between the Pirates and Creighton in Omaha will be show on Sept. 25 as will the match when The Hall travels to St. John s on Oct. 14. 6 ALLISON YAEGER HEAD COACH FOURTH SEASON WRIGHT STATE 05 ** AVCA EAST COAST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR ** ** 2014 BIG EAST COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR ** In 2015, Allison Yaeger will enter her fourth year as head coach of the Seton Hall women s volleyball team. It s her ninth overall as a part of the program. After spending the prior five seasons as Seton Hall s assistant volleyball coach, Yaeger was named the program s head coach in February of Last season, Yaeger led Seton Hall to arguably its most-successful season in program history. The Pirates improved by 12 victories from 2013 to 2014, which was tied for the fourth-best improvement in the country and finished with a 28-8 overall record, the second-most wins ever at Seton Hall. Seton Hall nearly doubled its record for BIG EAST victories with 15, and finished second in the final conference standings after being predicted to place sixth. The season culminated with the program s first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament. Seton Hall also landed a program-best four players, Shelbey and Stacey Manthorpe, Tessa Fournier and Amanda Hansen on All-BIG EAST Teams. Fournier was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year, the third straight season that a Seton Hall libero won the award. For all of this success, Yaeger and Matters earned BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year honors, while Yaeger was also named AVCA East Coast Region Coach of the Year. In 2013, Yaeger helped guide the program to its third straight season with a winning record. The Pirates won two of three matches at the Cavalier Classic and swept LIU-Brooklyn to snap the Blackbirds 19-match home win streak. Seton Hall played its best volleyball down the stretch, winning five of its final six matches. Alyssa Warren was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year for a second straight season, while Manthorpe sisters, Shelbey and Stacey, earned Second Team All-Conference honors. In her first year at the helm, the Pirates had one of their greatest starts to a season in program history and finished with 18 overall victories, the most since Under Yaeger s influence, Warren was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year, while Shelbey and Stacey Manthorpe earned All-Conference recognition. As an assistant, Yaeger helped lead the Pirates to a overall record in 2011 and the team posted eight conference wins, the most in school history. Under her guidance, she saw the program break a 15-year postseason drought in 2009 and reach the BIG EAST Championship in each of the past three seasons. Yaeger has played a key role in recruiting along with game and practice preparations. Prior to coming to Seton Hall, Yaeger was an assistant coach at Binghamton for two seasons. She was responsible for helping the team with defensive and serve reception along with overall ball control. She was also involved with recruiting, making travel arrangements, and aiding various other aspects of the program.
