The Women of Troy take on No. 10 Arizona State (15-2, 4-2) on Friday (Oct. 16) at 8 p.m. PT and then will face No. 14 Arizona (13-5, 3-3) in a Sunday (Oct. 18) matinee at 11 a.m. Both matches will be carried live by the Pac-12 Networks with Jim Watson and Holly McPeak on the broadcasts. The Trojans-Sun Devils match on Friday is also USC s designated Breast Cancer Awareness match. As one of two remaining unbeaten teams (No. 9 Kansas, 17-0), USC retained the No. 1 ranking in the AVCA poll for the second straight week (43rd week in program history). The 18-0 start for the Trojans is the third best while under the direction of head coach Mick Haley. Only his 2002 (19-0) and 2003 (35-0) NCAA championship squads had longer winning streaks to open their seasons. USC s next victory will be the 900th NCAA Division I women s volleyball win for Haley. He would become just the third active head coach to reach the milestone (Russ Rose, Penn State, 1176 wins; Dave Shoji, Hawaii, 1166 wins). The Trojans encountered a tough challenge during their trip to the mountains last weekend, but prevailed in their second five-set road match of the season (3-2 vs. Colorado). While USC leads the Pac-12 in kills (14.64 kps) and assists (13.66 aps), it s the Trojans defense that has come on strong of late. The Women of Troy have posted 10 or more blocks in eight consecutive matches and have done so 10 times this year. Senior MB Alicia Ogoms is second in the nation for blocks (1.71 bps) but it s no secret that the USC offense will lean on senior OH Samantha Bricio who leads the nation in points (6.13 pps) and service aces (0.74 saps). The original membership consisted of four schools - the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Washington, the University of Oregon, and Oregon Agricultural College (now Oregon State University). All still are charter members of the Conference. Pacific Coast Conference play began in 1916 and, one year later, Washington State College (now Washington State University) was accepted into the league, with Stanford University following in In 1922, the PCC expanded to eight teams with the admission of USC and the University of Idaho. In 1924, the University of Montana joined the league roster and in 1928, the PCC grew to 10 members with the addition of UCLA. The Pacific Coast Conference competed as a 10-member league until 1950, with the exception of when World War II curtailed intercollegiate athletic competition to a minimum. During that time, the league s first commissioner was named. Edwin N. Atherton was Commissioner in 1940 and was succeeded by Victor O. Schmidt in In 1950, Montana resigned from the Conference and the PCC continued as a nine-team Conference through In 1959, the PCC was dissolved and the Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU) was formed with Thomas J. Hamilton was appointed Commissioner of the new league. The original AAWU membership included California, Stanford, USC, UCLA and Washington. Washington State joined the membership in 1962, while Oregon and Oregon State joined in Under Hamilton s watch, the name Pacific-8 Conference was adopted in In 1971, Wiles Hallock took over as Commissioner of the Pac years later, on July 1, 1978, the Arizona and Arizona State were admitted to the league and the Pacific-10 Conference became a reality. In , the league took on a new look, expanding to include 10 women s sports. Since then, the Conference has been considered the premiere league in women s athletics, securing the most NCAA titles in women s sports of any conference nearly every year. Thomas C. Hansen was named the Commissioner of the Pac- 10 in 1983, a role he would hold for 26 years until 2009, and was succeeded by current Commissioner Larry Scott, who took on the new role in July During the academic year, the University of Colorado accepted its invitation to join the Pac-12 on June 11, 2010, and on June 17, 2010, the University of Utah agreed to join the Conference. The Buffaloes and Utes officially became the 11th and 12th members of the Conference on July 1, 2011, the first additions to the league since During the academic year, Scott spurred monumental changes that transformed the Conference into a modern 12- team league. In addition to expanding to 12 teams, member institutions agreed to equal revenue sharing for the first time in the Conference s history, created two divisions - the North and the South, for football only and established a Football Championship Game for the first time ever. He also secured a landmark media rights deal that dramatically increased national exposure and revenue for each school, establishing the Pac-12 Networks and Pac-12 Digital Network that guaranteed enhanced exposure across all sports. Currently, the Pac-12 sponsors 11 men s sports and 12 women s sports, with beach volleyball added in Additionally, the Conference is a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) in four other men s sports and three women s sports. The Pac-12 Conference offices are located in the heart of San Francisco in the SOMA district.

When it comes to the volleyball court, the Women of Troy are less than hospitable to their visitors. The Trojans went 12-1 in home matches in 2011 and completed the 2012 home schedule with a 17-1 mark. In 2007, USC was 19-0 at home on the way to an appearance in the NCAA national semifinal match. BRICIO COLLECTS PAC-12 HONORS: Senior OH Samantha Bricio has been chosen for the Pac-12 s Offensive Player of the Week honor four times out of six weeks. She earned her fourth award on Sept. 28, but had previously received the award just once each year in 2012, 2013, and Bricio was chosen three straight weeks to open the season, which marked the first time since 2001 (Logan Tom, Stanford) that any Pac-12 player had received the weekly award three straight times in the same season. She now is the only player in league history ever to be chosen four times in five weeks. Bricio was also selected as the league s Freshman of the Week five times in USC has had players chosen for weekly honors (not including freshman awards) 64 times since Since the league split its weekly awards into offensive, defensive, and freshman categories in 2011, Trojans have won Player of the Week honors 18 times. OGOMS GETS DEFENSIVE: Senior MB Alicia Ogoms was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 28. It was the first weekly honor from the league of her career and is USC s seventh for a defensive player. Three-time All- American libero Natalie Hagglund was chosen five times ( ) and junior libero Taylor Whittingham received the award once in AVCA POLL POSITION: The Trojans opened 2015 ranked No. 22 in the AVCA s Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll. It was the 457th time that USC appeared in the poll. USC has been ranked in the poll 464 times and has also held a spot among the poll s top 10 teams 303 times, which ranks seventh all-time. The Trojans have also held the No. 1 ranking 43 times previously, which is sixth all-time. Last year, on Nov. 24, the Women of Troy dropped out of the AVCA s coaches poll for the first time since the final poll of 1990, which snapped a 23-year run. ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS: Three Benjamins to be exact. Head coach Mick Haley earned his 300th win at USC in His 311th victory made him the winningest coach in program history. He is in 15 seasons with USC for a.804 winning percentage. Haley surpassed legendary coach Chuck Erbe who logged a record in 12 seasons as USC s head coach from and Haley s 300th win with Troy gave him at least 300 wins at three different schools: Kellogg Community College, Texas, and USC. LIKE A BROKEN RECORD: Senior OH Samantha Bricio is a force to be reckoned with from the end line. She is the all-time career leader in service aces both at USC and in the Pac-12. Bricio is also the only player in league history ever to record 200 aces in a career. She is one of six Trojans ever to have served the school s single-match record of eight aces in a match. Bricio has posted six aces or more 8 times in her career. She has also hit five aces in a match 17 times and has had three aces in the same match 35 times in her career. In 2013, she led the NCAA in service aces with a remarkable 0.70 saps average. She had 43 as a freshman, finished with 85 as a sophomore, and had 84 as a junior. The 85 aces in 2013 set a new school record and put her in third place in Pac-12 single-season history. ON THE DOUBLES: Through 16 matches, senior OH Samantha Bricio has already notched 7 double-doubles this season. She has had 48 in her career. Freshman setter Baylee Johnson recorded her first double-double in her first match as a Trojan The Galen Center 129 years ago, USC s founders envisioned an oncampus arena to further unify the Trojan community. On October 12, 2006, that dream became a reality with the opening of the Galen Center the new home to USC s basketball and volleyball programs. In late 2002, a successful banker and longtime USC fan named Louis Galen pledged a $10 million donation towards the project with his wife Helene. The Galens later added an additional sum of $25 million and upped their original donation to $15 million. Their total donation of $50 million was the final push needed to break ground on the new facility. On October 31, 2004, ground was officially broken across from the USC campus. Los Angeles City Council members Bernard Parks and Jan Perry were alongside Louis and Helene Galen and a contingency of Trojan supporters for the historic groundbreaking ceremony. After nearly two years of construction, the first event held in the Galen Center was a women s volleyball match between USC and Stanford on October 12, A few weeks later, Galen Center hosted its first-ever concert featuring Al Green. The first men s basketball game held at the arena took place on November 16 between USC and South Carolina. A capacity crowd of 10,258 attended a men s basketball game between USC and Arizona on January 31, 2008, to set the venue s all-time attendance record. Galen Center construction cost an estimated $147 million, and included the arena, offices, and a stateof-the-art practice facility. The center puts USC teams on an appropriately impressive stage that allows its student-athletes to put their talents on display in the 255,000 square-foot arena. Trojan athletes and visiting teams have access to state-of-the-art locker rooms, weight room, and medical training rooms. An adjacent 45,000 square-foot pavilion contains additional practice areas with three sections and enough space for four full basketball courts or nine volleyball courts as well as seating for 1,000 spectators. The ground floor of the pavilion wing houses offices for coaches and administrative personnel. Galen Center also has its own ticket office, concession stands, and merchandise stores, and houses the USC Athletic Department Hall of Fame. Built with the entire community in mind, the Galen Center has opened its doors to youth and high school sporting events, concerts, commencement ceremonies, community events, lectures, meetings, shows, pageants, and more. It has also hosted numerous MPSF, Pac-12, and NCAA championship events including the 2012 NCAA Men s Volleyball Championship. In 2013, the Galen Center served as host of one of four NCAA Division I Women s Volleyball Regional Championships. The Women of Troy are particularly comfortable in the Galen Center. Since opening, the women s volleyball team is (.858) as the home team. In 2007, the Trojans went undefeated at home (19-0) and advanced to the NCAA semifinal match. In 2010, 2011, and 2012, USC lost just once at home in each season.

Alyse Ford s brother Aaron Wallace is a senior linebacker for the football team. Niki Withers brother Marcedes Lewis is a former Bruin tight end. Victoria Garrick s brother Jonathan is a senior on the UCLA men s golf team. #1 THE AIR UP THERE: The air is a little thinner where Alyse Ford likes to hang out during matches. The leaper has been measured with a standing vertical jump of 31 inches and can touch 10 6 on an approach. #2 BROTHERLY INFLUENCE: One of Samantha Bricio s biggest life influences has been her older brother Irving Bricio. The elder Bricio was a professional men s volleyball player in Switzerland. #2 ARE YOU CRAZY?: Because if you are, Samantha Bricio would love to talk to you. Of all the dream jobs one could have, Bricio aspires to work in a mental hospital with dangerous criminals. Currently pursuing her bachelor s degree in psychology, Bricio is considering completing a master s degree in criminal psychology when she is done with her playing career. #3 SIBLING RIVALRY: Outside hitter Niki Withers may be a transfer from Cal State Fullerton, but her choice to play at USC puts her on the other side of a crosstown rivalry with her brother Marcedes Lewis. Lewis is in his 10th year as a Pro Bowl tight end for the NFL s Jacksonville Jaguars. He won the Mackey Award as the best collegiate tight end while attending UCLA ( ), but never beat the Trojans while he wore the Bruin jersey. #4 NUTTY VICE: Defensive specialist Victoria Garrick s guilty pleasure is Nutella, a delicious hazelnut spread made of skim milk with a hint of cocoa. #5 NET VIOLATION: Middle blocker Jordan Dunn is all about preventing net violations. She used to be a goalie for her soccer team at Corona HS as a freshman and sophomore. At 6-4, her reach helped her stop many oppositional net violations during her futbol career. #5 GREAT DANE: Jordan Dunn is the descendant of a former Queen of Denmark. The great-great-great-great grandmother of Dunn served as the Danish queen consort in the early to mid-1800s. #6 LA COSTA CONNECTION: Opposite Brittany Abercrombie is the third player to play for USC from La Costa Canyon HS in Carlsbad, Calif. She follows in the footsteps of three-time All-American libero Natalie Hagglund, and All-American opposite hitter Katie Fuller who each produced successful careers with the Women of Troy. #8 OH, CANADA: Senior MB Alicia Ogoms is the first-ever scholarship volleyball player at USC to hail from Canada. The 6-4 Ogoms is from Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she attended St. Mary s. #8 ON THE RIGHT TRACK: As a child, middle blocker Alicia Ogoms received a picture book form her mother depicting the accomplishments of American track athlete Wilma Rudolph. It became her favorite book because Rudolph s story was so inspiring. Known as The Fastest Woman in the World in the 1960 s, Rudolph won three gold medals in the Rome Olympics. Ogoms admires the relentless spirit and perseverance that Rudolph represents. #10 SPEAKING OUT FOR AUTISM: Libero Taylor Whittingham has been actively involved in autism awareness programs since her younger brother was diagnosed with the neural-developmental disorder. She has organized fundraising efforts among her high school and club teams and has inspired others to join the effort to spread awareness and generate funds for autism research. #11 BLOOD LINES: Middle blocker Elise Ruddins has volleyball in her blood. The accomplished hitter is the daughter of Jerome Ruddins, a former men s player at Long Beach State, and is the niece of one of the most heralded setters in Troy s history: Kim Ruddins ( ). Elise s aunt won the program s first NCAA title in 1980 and was a two-time first-team All-American ( ). She was also won the silver medal with the US women s national team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

9 #11 A HEART FOR ART: Middle blocker Elise Ruddins started out playing soccer and basketball, but eventually found her way to volleyball. Outside of sports, Ruddins has a talent for art. While she is a communications major, drawing has always been a passion of hers. #12 FISH OUT OF WATER: Setter Alice Pizzasegola wasn t always destined for the volleyball court. As a youth, she spent much of her time as a competitive swimmer and later swam with the Nuotatori Piacentini Club in Piacenza, Italy. #15 EARLY BLOOMER: Setter Baylee Johnson couldn t wait to begin her collegiate career, so she enrolled at USC in the spring o 2015 as an early-admit. She left Dayton, Ohio, and departed high school a semester early to practice and play with the Trojans in preparation for her freshman season. #15 BLUE-BELT BAYLEE: Don t mess with Baylee Johnson. One of her hobbies is jiu jitsu. The feisty setter achieved blue belt status in the Brazilian martial art as a youth and still has the skills to prove it. #16 BEACH BUNNY: Outside hitter Eve Ettinger began her collegiate career with the Trojans in 2011 and though she redshirted due to injury, was part of the squad that claimed the first-ever Pac-12 title. She spent the next four years on the sand as a member of the Trojans inaugural sand volleyball team. As a senior in 2015, she helped lead the Women of Troy to the AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championship; the school s 123rd overall team crown. She returned to the indoor game in the fall, but suffered a season-ending injury at the end of camp. #23 ROUNDBALL ROCK: Outside hitter Sarah Livingston isn t new to volleyball, but it is a drastic change from her basketball-playing days at Illinois just a year ago. The transfer was a guard on the Illini squad in and was dribbling not too long ago. She is the younger sister of 10-year NBA veteran guard and recently crowned World Champion Shaun Livingston who was the fourth overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. He is currently a guard with the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors. Kills 1.
