Since 2009, USC is 18-1 through the last four matches of the regular season and finished as national semifinalists in 2010 and 11. Under head coach Mick Haley, the Trojans have produced equal or better records in the back half of the conference schedule in 11 of his 12 completed years. A win over the Buffaloes would assure USC of no worse than third place in the final Pac-12 standings and give the Trojans an 8-2 mark through the back half of the league schedule. The only time a Haley-led USC squad didn t do better on its second time through the conference was in 2002 when it was 9-0 on the front nine and 8-1 through the back nine. But that team went on to win the first of back-toback NCAA championships. Building momentum down the final stretch is paramount for the Trojans who hosted first and second round NCAA matches for the 10th straight year in 2012 and advanced to the Austin Regional Championship match before falling to eventual champion Texas. It was USC s ninth regional final appearance since This year, the Trojans seek the program s 23rd consecutive berth in the NCAA tournament (31st overall) and are slated to host the Los Angeles Regional Championship. The Trojans lean on senior libero Natalie Hagglund who leads the Pac-12 with 5.41 dps (15th in the NCAA). She is USC s career leader in digs (now with 2,274) and moved into third place in Pac-12 history. 3 USC Head Coach Mick Haley Mick Haley is in his 13th season as head coach at USC and continues to add to the rich heritage of one of the most successful women s volleyball programs in the nation. During his tenure at USC, Haley has guided teams to two national championships (2002, 03), six NCAA Final Four appearances (2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2011) and 12 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. USC has finished the season ranked nationally in the top five a total of eight of 12 times under Haley. He has posted an impressive overall record of (.819) while going (.780) in Pac-12 Conference play. Haley was named 2011 Pac-12 Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Trojans to the league title; the first time at USC that he has earned that honor. Haley s 2003 squad won the program s sixth title overall and third NCAA crown. He guided that team to a perfect 35-0 record (only the fourth team to ever accomplish the feat) and earned the most prestigious honor among collegiate coaches as the AVCA Division I Coach of the Year. As a two-time national championship head coach at Texas and four-year United States National Team coach, Haley took the helm of the Trojan program at the start of the 2001 season. He brought a tradition of excellence as one of the elite coaches in the game with him to a University with a rich tradition of its own. He earned a bachelor s degree in education from Ball State in 1965 and a master s degree in education in 1966 from Southern Illinois. Haley and his wife, Carrie, have a daughter, Halie, 25, and a son, Hunter, 26. He also has a son, Heath, 37, and a daughter, Heather, 42, from a previous marriage, and four grandchildren, Harrison, 14, Hayley, 12, Amelia, 5, and Michael, 3. Colorado s win over Oregon State (Nov. 22) snapped a five-match skid for a CU team that had struggled to maintain its momentum following a four-match winning streak from Oct. 20 through Nov. 1. The Buffs went 8-1 in non-conference matches before they shocked an 11thranked UCLA team in Boulder with a fiveset win. The following week, Colorado put the Pac-12 on notice when it took out topranked Washington in a four-set decision Last 10 vs. Colorado USC leads, 7-0 Home: 3-0 Away: 3-0 Neutral: 1-0 Year Location Result Score 1988 Away W Neutral W Home W Away W Home W Home W Away W 3-0 at home. The Buffaloes also own a win over a 25th-ranked Arizona squad. Junior OH Taylor Simpson leads the Buffaloes with 3.56 kps, which ranks eighth in the Pac-12. Sophomore OH Alexis Austin is second on the team with 2.76 kps while junior MB Kelsey English holds the team s highest hitting percentage (.364) which ranks sixth in the league. English is also third in the conference for service aces (0.36 saps). Sophomore setter Nicole Edelman (10.25 aps) ranks fifth in the Pac-12 and has the Buffs hitting at a.225 clip. Edelman is also a threat to attack with 77 kills and a.398 hitting rate this season. Freshman libero Cierra Simpson digs at a 3.23 dps clip and is trailed by sister Taylor who puts up 2.38 dps. Senior MB Nikki Lindow is eighth in the Pac-12 with 1.22 blocks per set. THE MATCHUP: The Women of Troy and the Buffaloes will meet for the eighth time. USC owns a 7-0 mark in the all-time series and has not lost a set to Colorado in the last four matches ( ) since the Buffaloes joined the Pac-12 Conference. Previously, the Trojans claimed a 3-0 win in 1988, a four-set win in 1992, and were pushed to five sets in COLORADO HEAD COACH LIZ KRITZA: Buffalo head coach Liz Kritza is in her fifth year with the program and holds a overall record with a mark in Pac- 12 matches (two seasons). Kritza has a career record which includes four seasons at Tulane where she was twice named the AVCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year. to record three seasons with at least 500 digs (Debora Seilhamer) and now owns four of USC s top 10 single-season digs records including her 568 this season, which ranks sixth. Hagglund s accomplishments have made her one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. Offensively, USC s weaponry is spread evenly across its six hitters. Sophomore OH Samantha Bricio carries part of the load with 3.43 kps and leads the country in service aces (72) at 0.69 saps. Clocked at over 50 miles per hour, Bricio has had 11 matches, this season, in which she has posted three service aces, or more, and ranks eighth in the Pac-12 at 4.45 points per set. Her five-ace performance at Cal made her the single-season record holder at USC with 72 and counting. Freshman OH Ebony Nwanebu is second on the team with 3.37 kps (.334) and also ranks third with 0.86 blocks per set. Nwanebu has been nothing short of impressive and has caught the eye of the conference with a record-tying five Pac-12 Freshman of the Week awards. At the other outside position, senior OH Sara Shaw is recording 1.99 kps and is second on the team with 2.93 dps. Shaw is just the 16th player in program history to record 1,000 digs and is only the 11th player at USC ever to post 1,000 digs and 800 career kills. Junior OH Emily Young has become a steady force for the Trojans with 1.43 kps and is a threat on second contact as a former setter. Freshman OH Elise Ruddins has also proven to be a viable offensive option (2.42 kps) and had a match with 24 kills earlier this season. Defensively, senior MB Alexis Olgard leads the team with 1.28 bps and cannot be overlooked on the offensive side of the net as she logs 2.23 kps and is second in the league with a.432 hitting percentage. Junior MB Hannah Schraer is just a shade behind with 1.04 bps and puts up 1.42 kps. At the heart of the USC offense, setters Hayley Crone (6.51 aps) and Alice Pizzasegola (5.67 aps) run the show and have the Trojans hitting.280 (2nd in the Pac-12) this season.

The original membership consisted of four schools - the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Washington, the University of Oregon, and Oregon State College (now Oregon State University). All still are charter members of the Conference. Pacific Coast Conference play began in 1916 and, one year later, Washington State College (now Washington State University) was accepted into the league, with Stanford University following in In 1922, the PCC expanded to eight teams with the admission of the USC and the University of Idaho. In 1924, the University of Montana joined the league roster, and in 1928, the PCC grew to 10 members with the addition of UCLA. The Pacific Coast Conference competed as a 10-member league until 1950, with the exception of when World War II curtailed intercollegiate athletic competition to a minimum. During that time, the league s first commissioner was named. Edwin N. Atherton was Commissioner in 1940 and was succeeded by Victor O. Schmidt in In 1950, Montana resigned from the Conference and the PCC continued as a nine-team Conference through In 1959, the PCC was dissolved and the Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU) was formed and Thomas J. Hamilton was appointed Commissioner of the new league. The original AAWU membership included California, Stanford, Southern California, UCLA and Washington. Washington State joined the membership in 1962, while Oregon and Oregon State joined in Under Hamilton s watch, the name Pacific-8 Conference was adopted in In 1971, Wiles Hallock took over as Commissioner of the Pac-8. Ten years later, on July 1, 1978, the University of Arizona and Arizona State University were admitted to the league and the Pacific-10 Conference became a reality. In , it took on a new look, expanding to include 10 women s sports. Since then, the Conference has been considered the premiere league in women s athletics, securing the most NCAA titles in women s sports of any conference nearly every year. Thomas C. Hansen was named the Commissioner of the Pac- 10 in 1983, a role he would hold for 26 years until Hansen was succeeded by current Commissioner Larry Scott, who took on the new role in July During the academic year, the University of Colorado accepted its invitation to join the Pac-12 on June 11, 2010, and on June 17, 2010, the University of Utah agreed to join the Conference. The Buffaloes and Utes officially became the 11th and 12th members of the Conference on July 1, 2011, the first additions to the league since Since 1978, member schools have won 274 NCAA titles, including 139 women s and 135 men s. It was during that academic year that Scott helped deliver monumental changes that transformed the Conference into a modern 12-team league. The Conference expanded to add two more teams, agreed to equal revenue sharing for the first time in Conference history, created two divisions - the North and the South, for football only, established a Football Championship Game for the first time ever, secured a landmark media rights deal that dramatically increased national exposure and revenue for each school, establishing the Pac-12 Networks and Pac-12 Digital Network that guaranteed enhanced exposure across all sports. Currently, the Pac-12 sponsors 11 men s sports and 11 women s sports. Additionally, the Conference is a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) in four other men s sports and three women s sports. The Pac-12 Conference offices are located 25 miles east of San Francisco in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Sara Shaw has posted five double-doubles in 2013 (13 in her career) and each setter has posted at least one: Hayley Crone with two and Alice Pizzasegola with one. Bricio has reached double digits in points 28 times while Ebony Nwanebu has 23 double-digit scoring matches under her belt. Alexis Olgard has 13 and Shaw has 11 double-digit scoring matches. Natalie Hagglund has reached double digits in digs in 28 matches, this season, while Hannah Schraer and Olgard have each eclipsed the 10-block mark once.

7 HALEY HITS 1100/1200: Head coach Mick Haley recorded his 1,100th win as a women s collegiate head coach on Friday, Oct. 4, as the Trojans defeated Stanford, 3-0, at the Galen Center. He has 339 with USC, 522 with Texas, and 348 with Kellogg CC. He has also reached the 1,200th overall victory of his career including a mark with the men s team at Kellogg CC. CAN YOU DIG IT?: Senior libero Natalie Hagglund is the program s all-time career leader in digs. As just the second USC player ever to reach the 2,000-dig plateau, she has collected 2,274, to surpass Debora Seilhamer ( ) who logged 2,071 in her prolific career. Hagglund is also ranks fourth in Pac-12 history for digs and is poised to make a run at third place before season s end. Her 4.86 career dps rank second in USC program history and Hagglund owns four of the top 10 single-season school records for digs: third (613 in 2012), fourth (596 in 2011), sixth (568 in 2013), and ninth (497 in 2010 as a freshman). ELITE COMPANY: Senior OH Sara Shaw became just the 16th playing in USC history to cross the 1,000 career digs threshold and is only the 11th player to collect 1,000 digs and 800 kills in her career at Troy. Shaw has 1,020 digs and 804 kills in her four seasons and joins such elite names as Katie Haller, Jennifer Kessy, April Ross, Keao Burdine, and Alex Jupiter. ACE IN THE HOLE: Sophomore OH Samantha Bricio leads the NCAA in service aces with a remarkable 0.69 saps average. After leading the conference (43, 0.36 saps) in 2012, she has already surpassed her freshman mark with 72 in The 72 aces in a single season is a school record. Previously, USC s single-season mark for aces was 59 shared by April Ross (2003) and Nancy Hillman (1988). Ross also holds the Trojan record for highest single-season average with 0.52 saps in 2003, but that mark is in jeopardy as Bricio continues to roll. The Pac-12 record for single-season average is 0.80 saps held by Arizona s Kiyomi Morino (1987). In just two years, Bricio has broken into the Trojan top 10 for career aces and ranks fifth with 115. CLASS ACT: Senior libero Natalie Hagglund is one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make positive impacts as leaders in their communities. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition. TROJANS IN TV LAND: The Women of Troy will appear in at least 18 televised matches, this season. With the arrival of the Pac-12 Networks, over 90 conference matches are scheduled for air. The Trojans are slated to appear 16 times on Pac- 12 Networks: six times at Galen Center, and 10 times as the road team. Four of USC s appearances on the Pac-12 Networks will be distributed to a national audience. The Trojans also played in front national audiences in two matches on ESPNU: Sept. 18 vs. UC Irvine and Sept. 25 vs. UCLA. USC is 14-4 in televised matches, this season. A DIFFERENT KIND OF SWEEP: The Trojans went 3-0 in a different way on Oct. 7. USC players swept the Pac-12 s weekly awards as senior MB Alexis Olgard was named Offensive Player of the Week, senior libero Natalie Hagglund was named Defensive Player of the Week, and OH Ebony Nwanebu was chosen for Freshman of the Week. Coincidentally, one year ago (Oct. 8, 2012), USC also swept the conference awards as OH Samantha Bricio earned offensive and freshman awards and Hagglund nabbed the defensive award. Hagglund has been chosen twice, this season to give her five all-time selections, which ties Jennifer Kessy and Asia Kaczor for most by a USC player. Bricio was also chosen for offensive honors on Nov. 3 to help push the program s total to 57 all-time awards. SOMETHING TO (IM)PROVE: In five of the last six seasons, head coach Mick Haley has made the correct adjustments in the second half of the Pac-12 schedule to help his Trojans post better second-half records. Over the course of his 12 completed seasons at USC, his team has logged the same record in both halves of league matches six times. While Haley puts a premium on in-season improvements, only once has one of his Trojan squads fared worse in the second part of league matches. That, however, was in 2002 when USC went on to win the first of two back-to-back NCAA titles. The Galen Center 127 years ago, USC s founders envisioned an oncampus arena to further unify the Trojan community. On October 12, 2006, that dream became a reality with the opening of the Galen Center the new home to USC s basketball and volleyball programs. In late 2002, a successful banker and longtime USC fan named Louis Galen pledged a $10 million donation towards the project with his wife Helene. The Galens later added an additional sum of $25 million and upped their original donation to $15 million. Their total donation of $50 million was the final push needed to break ground on the new facility. On October 31, 2004, ground was officially broken across from the USC campus. Los Angeles City Council members Bernard Parks and Jan Perry were alongside Louis and Helene Galen and a contingency of Trojan supporters for the historic groundbreaking ceremony. After nearly two years of construction, the first event held in the Galen Center was a women s volleyball match between USC and Stanford on October 12, A few weeks later, Galen Center hosted its first-ever concert featuring Al Green. The first men s basketball game held at the arena took place on November 16 between USC and South Carolina. A capacity crowd of 10,258 attended a men s basketball game between USC and Arizona on January 31, 2008, to set the venue s all-time attendance record. Galen Center construction cost an estimated $147 million, and included the arena, offices, and a stateof-the-art practice facility. The center puts USC teams on an appropriately impressive stage that allows its student-athletes to put their talents on display in the 255,000 square-foot arena. Trojan athletes and visiting teams have access to state-of-the-art locker rooms, weight room, and medical training rooms. An adjacent 45,000 square-foot pavilion contains additional practice areas with three sections and enough space for four full basketball courts or nine volleyball courts as well as seating for 1,000 spectators. The ground floor of the pavilion wing houses offices for coaches and administrative personnel. Galen Center also has its own ticket office, concession stands, and merchandise stores, and houses the USC Athletic Department Hall of Fame. Built with the entire community in mind, the Galen Center has opened its doors to youth and high school sporting events, concerts, commencement ceremonies, community events, lectures, meetings, shows, pageants, and more. It has also hosted numerous MPSF, Pac-12, and NCAA championship events including the 2012 NCAA Men s Volleyball Championship. In 2013, the Galen Center will serve as host of one of four NCAA Division I Women s Volleyball Regional Championships. The Women of Troy are particularly comfortable in the Galen Center. Since its opening, the women s volleyball team is (.904) as the home team. In 2007, the Trojans went undefeated at home (19-0) and advanced to the NCAA semifinal match. In 2010, 2011, and 2012, USC lost just once at home in each season.

Haley surpassed legendary coach Chuck Erbe who logged a record in 12 seasons as USC s head coach from and Haley s 300th win with Troy gave him at least 300 wins at three different schools: Kellogg Community College, Texas, and USC. HOME, SWEET HOME: The Trojans have enjoyed the comforts of home to the tune of a (.904) all-time record at the Galen Center. When it comes to the volleyball court, the Women of Troy are less than hospitable to their visitors. The Trojans went 12-1 in home matches in 2011 and completed the 2012 home schedule with a 17-1 mark. In 2007, USC was 19-0 at home on the way to an appearance in the NCAA national semifinal match. The Trojans dropped just eight individual sets that season and were pushed to five sets just once in a road match at California. Emily Adams, April Ross, and Bibiana Candelas were each named first-team AVCA All-Americans and Keao Burdine received second-team honors. Head coach Mick Haley was selected as the National Coach of the Year while Ross was honored with the Honda Award. LIKE A BROKEN RECORD: A season ago, Samantha Bricio set the ninth-best singleseason mark for kills with 491 and took the second-most attempts in a single season at USC (1,325). Bricio s 43 service aces also tied for seventh most in a single season and her points ranks seventh in a season for Troy. Setter Hayley Crone enjoyed the program s eighth-best single year with 1,337 assists while middle blocker Alexis Olgard recorded the ninth-best single-season hitting percentage at.394. POLL POSITION: USC was ranked No. 4 in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll (Aug. 12). The Trojans received 1,307 points and were the second of five Pac-12 squads ranked in the first poll of Defending conference champion Stanford earned two first place votes (1,379 points) and was ranked third. The NCAA s defending champion Texas held first place while Penn State came in second. The Trojans will also face a pair of top-25 teams in their first two matches of the year as they head to Indiana to take on No. 16 Purdue and No. 21 Western Kentucky. In all, the Trojans face teams ranked in the preseason top 25 at least 10 times in the regular season.

9 USC PICKED TWO BY PAC-12 CREW: The Trojans were picked to finish second in the Pac-12 through a preseason poll of the league s coaches. USC received two first-place votes and earned 111 points behind Stanford, which grabbed 10 firstplace votes and had 120 points. Washington, Oregon, and UCLA were tabbed to finish third, fourth, and fifth respectively. Arizona State was picked sixth, and was followed by California, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. Washington State and Oregon State were picked to finish 11th and 12th. The Women of Troy have the distinction of being the first-ever winners of a Pac-12 title in 2011 and are the holders of seven league crowns (1976, 77, 80, 2000, 02, 03, 11). The top team in the Pac-12 preseason coaches poll has gone on to win at least a share of the league title 17 times out of the 27 years since the poll s inception in USC has been selected to win the conference five times since ALL-AMERICAN GIRLS: The Women of Troy have had 66 All-America selections in their storied history. Last year, USC added two more to its list of award winners as Katie Fuller and Natalie Hagglund were each named to AVCA All-America teams. Hagglund received her second first-team nod and also earned her second Pac-12 Libero of the Year honor. Fuller became the 35th different USC player to have All-America honors bestowed upon her as a member of the third team. Outside hitter Samantha Bricio received honorable mention for AVCA All- America honors but was a member of the Volleyball Magazine All-America third team and was named the publication s National Freshman of the Year. She tallied 85 kills, 16 service aces, and six blocks over the course of just five matches to log 107 points.
