Bulldog redshirt junior quarterback Kyle Johnson completed 17-of-30 passes for 193 yards and one TD. - Wingate senior defensive back and team captain Nortavius Otis had eight tackles with six solo stops to lead the Bulldogs. - Cary Littlejohn of Catawba the eighth-best day for a Catawba back with his career-high 192 yards at Davidson. - Catawba recovered only five of its opponents 18 fumbles last year, but have recovered all six the opposition has put on the ground this year. - Tusculum s loss to Virginia St. marked the first home-opening loss for the Pioneers in 5 years. - Tusculum leads the SAC with 6 interceptions through its first two games (TC had 7 INT in all of games). - TC has been outscored 35-0 in the 1st quarter this year, but TC is outscoring teams for the rest of the game. - Mars Hill receiver Keshaun Taylor set a new school record with four touchdown receptions in Chattanooga game. - Mars Hill s Shaikel Davis rushed for 128 yards on 17 carries averaging 7.5 yards per rush. It makes the 14th time in Davis career he has rushed for over 100 yards in a single game. - Carson-Newman garnered its first victory over Shorter and their sixth in Barron Stadium. - The Eagles forced Shorter off the field on 12 of the Hawks 13 third down conversion opportunities. 2 SAC Offensive Player Of The Week Cary Littlejohn, Catawba Sr. RB Columbus, N.C. Littlejohn, a senior from Columbus, N.C., ran for a career-best 192 yards to lead the Catawba College Catawba Indians to a win over Davidson on Sept. 12. He nearly set a career-best for yards in a half as he ran the ball for 130 yards, 16 yards shy of his previous best. Littlejohn scored the opening touchdown of the game with a 64 yard scamper to put the Catawba Indians up, 6-0. Littlejohn rushed 27 times for an average of 7.1 yards per carry. The award marks his first Offensive Player of the Week selection this season. Keshaun Taylor, Mars Hill So. WR Homestead, Fla. Taylor, a sophomore from Homestead, Fla., set the Mars Hill record with four touchdown receptions in a narrow loss vs. FCS No. 10 Chattanooga on Sept. 12. Taylor hauled in nine balls for a career-high 157 yards, including a career-best 75 yard touchdown catch. Taylor averaged 17.4 yards per reception to earn his first Offensive Player of the Week nod this season. SAC Defensive Player Of The Week Taylor McDonnell, Newberry Sr. ILB Bluffton, S.C. McDonnell, a senior from Bluffton, S.C., registered 11 tackles, a pair of sacks and three tackles for loss in a loss to FCS Jacksonville on Sept. 12. His two sacks dropped the Dolphins back 22 yards and his three tackles for loss put Jacksonville in a combined 23 yard hole. McDonnell forced a fumble and recovered the ball on one of his sacks as he finished the contest with 10 solo stops. The award is his first Defensive Player of the Week plaudit this season. SAC Special Teams Player Of The Week Christopher Birozes, Wingate So. P Suwanee, Ga. Birozes, a sophomore from Suwanee, Ga., averaged 40 yards per punt on five boots as Wingate improved its record to 2-0 overall with a victory over Shaw on Sept. 12. Birozes had two fair catches, three punts inside the 20 and a long punt of 51 to finish the contest with 200 yards.
