4 BIG MACKEY ATTACK: A 3-time All-GNAC Team selection already, Sr. RS Julia Mackey appears headed for a 4-peat, sporting the league s 3rd-best attack percentage at.326, plus top-10 rankings in kills per set (9th, 3.01) and points per set (4th, 3.62)... the Fairbanks (West Valley HS) native has registered double-fi gure kills in 11 of 22 matches and hit.500 or better on fi ve occasions... Mackey was Mackey named the MVP of the season-opening SpringHill Suites Invitational after smashing 48 kills on.398 hitting, including a.600 ( ) performance in the sweep of Cal Poly Pomona... like Zanders, Mackey has been moving steadily up UAA s career lists, now with ranks of 5th in total kills (1,036), 7th in kills per set (3.07), 7th in attack pct. (.273), 9th in attacks (2,433), 11th in block assists (195) and 16th in total blocks (210)... needing just one more block to move into the top 15, Mackey recently joined Jen Szczerbinski, Brianne McCabe and Sabrina Bingham as the fourth player in program history with at least 1,000 kills and 200 blocks... Mackey was an honorable mention AVCA All-American as a junior in THE HOOE PACKAGE: Coming off honorable mention All-GNAC honors last year, Jr. S Morgan Hooe has shown she is ready for the next level with a GNAC second-best assists per set... under Hooe s guidance, the Seawolf offense leads the GNAC in attack pct. (.266) and ranks 2nd in kills per set (13.46), producing nine matches with a plus-.300 hitting percentage, including six straight Hooe from Sept Hooe s career-high 55 assists in the wins over No. 23 Rockhurst and at Western Oregon remain the top performances for a GNAC setter this year, while her 44 against Dixie State stand as the second-best in a 3-setter... the former South Anchorage HS star earned a spot on the SpringHill Suites Invitational all-tourney team to start the season, leading the 5-team event in assists... Hooe has also proved an effi cient offense force herself, with her.270 attack pct. third-best on the team among regulars... on UAA s career lists, she has risen to No. 6 in both total assists (2,176) and assists per set (7.86). MIDDLE MANAGEMENT: The middle blocking duo of Jr. Erin Braun and Sr. Caitlin Hanson has been a big reason behind the Seawolves top-20 NCAA team ranks in both attack pct. and blocking... coming off an honorable mention All-GNAC sophomore campaign, Braun currently ranks 6th in the GNAC in attack pct. (.302) and 7th in blocks per set (1.21)... the San Bernardino, Calif., native has posted at Braun least four kills in 17 of 22 matches this year and had nine matches with at least fi ve total blocks... on UAA s all-time lists, Braun is 3rd in attack pct. (.302), 6th in block assists (258), 10th in total blocks (279) and 9th in blocks per set (1.03)... meanwhile, Hanson hit.417 and registered 7 blocks last week to improve her GNAC ranks to 10th in attack pct.
