Arkansas has dominated the series, holding a 41-5 advantage. This is the second time this season that the Hogs will face Mississippi State, earning a 3-1 victory at home. The Razorbacks have won the last 12 meetings between the teams. LAST TIME OUT Arkansas fell 3-1 at home to Alabama on Sunday. The Hogs nearly earned a first set victory, but rallied and dominated the second set. In the third set, both teams played close but the Tide defeated Arkansas and took the match in the fourth. WHERE THEY RANK Through the first month of SEC play, the Hogs sit in ninth place in the conference standings. Sophomore Hailey Dirrigl comes in at No. 7 in kills/set, averaging 3.55 with 227 this season. Junior Rachel Rippee is sixth with 8.96 assists/set, recording 600 in 18 matches. Freshman Lauren Evans 0.36 aces/set tie for fourth in the SEC while senior Okiana Valle is at the top of the league with 5.00 digs/set. Conference Honors Okiana Valle was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week following an impressive performance last week. Valle helped lead the Hogs to a sweep of the Gamecocks last Wednesday, a team who was 60+ points higher than Arkansas in the RPI. She recorded three service aces against the Gamecocks, setting a season-high for aces in a match. The senior also had an impressive 13 points from Kills Per Set...Soph. RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCES Senior Okiana Valle moved into second-place for all-time digs against Alabama, recording 27 to give her a career total of 1,666. Junior Rachel Rippee is now fourth in program history for career assists with 2,895, looking for 3,182 to move into third-place. MILESTONE MATCHES Libero Okiana Valle set a career milestone against Missouri, eclipsing 1,500 career digs. Freshman Gracie Ryan earned her first career start against the Tigers, recording 28 assists and 13 in the team s only double-double of the match. Hailey Dirrigl recorded her 500th career kill against Ole Miss in the team s first SEC win of the season, pulling above the milestone at Missouri. LOGAN S LAST FIVE In the last five non-conference matches, sophomore Logan Brown had 68 kills, good for.378 kills per set coupled with a.297 hitting percentage. Her career-best 20 kills against Georgia Tech replaced her previous high of 15 which she recorded in the two previous matches. CLASSIC SHOWING For their Arkansas Classic performances, Logan Brown and Rachel Rippee collected all-tournament accolades. Brown (3.67 k/s,.309 pct) earned MVP honors while Rippee set the team to a.299 hitting percentage with assists per set including a season-high.361 clip vs Northwestern. THAT S A FIRST Following a career-best 16 kills against Buffalo (Sept. 8), junior Reagan Robinson returned to the court later that day and tallied the first double-double of her career behind an 11-kill, 10-dig performance against Northwestern. SENIOR SHOWCASE Kelly O Brien and Okiana Valle were named to the Diet Coke Classic All-Tournament Team. O Brien tallied 3.20 kills per set and had a career-high 14 kills against Minnesota (Sept. DEFENSIVE STAND In a straight-set win over Georgia Southern (Aug. 31), the Razorbacks held their opponent to a effiency which is the sixth-lowest mark since CAREER DAY IN LAWRENCE In Arkansas four-set win at Kansas (Aug. 26), sophomores Hailey Dirrigl and Liz Pamphile tallied career highs with 25 and 16 kills, respectively. Dirrigl became the 21st Razorback to reach 25 kills in a match, and added a (then) career best of seven digs in the match. REAGAN IN RELIEF Junior Reagan Robinson came in off the bench at Kansas (Aug. 26) to put down nine kills on 15 swings (.533) over the final two sets, including the match-winning kill. She had seven kills in the fourth frame. OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN By team vote, junior setter Rachel Rippee and sophomore middle Liz Pamphile will serve as the Razorbacks captains. Rippee finished second in the SEC last season with assists per set while Pamphile averaged 2.02 kills per set. SILVER ANNIVERSARY The 2018 seasons marks the 25th anniversary of Arkansas Volleyball which first took the floor in As a program, the Razorbacks enter the year with 466 wins and 11 NCAA Tournament appearances. In 11 prior seasons as a head coach at BYU ( ) and Arizona State ( ), Watson enters the 2018 season with a (.559) record and has guided his teams to seven NCAA Tournament selections. In his second season in Fayetteville, the Razorbacks tallied a 10-win improvement from the previous year, finishing the campaign with a overall record and 9-9 mark in SEC play. Arkansas 10 wins at Barnhill Arena marked the program s highest home-win total since Arkansas finished the year at No. 47 in the season-ending RPI rankings. Individually, senior Pilar Victoria led the NCAA with 5.47 kills per set and 6.08 points per set in 2017 and earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and All-SEC honors. Additionally, setter Rachel Rippee collected AVCA All-South Region Honorable Mention accolades. The Razorbacks matched their SEC output from the previous season with a 7-11 mark in league play during Watson s first year including six wins in their last nine matches of the year. Individually, senior Danielle Harbin emerged to finish third in the SEC with 4.22 kills per set on her way to AVCA All-South Region honors. In eight years in Tempe, Ariz., Watson transformed ASU Volleyball from a perennial sub-.500 program into a postseason regular. In his last four seasons, the Sun Devils averaged more than 19 wins per season with four-consecutive bids to the NCAA Tournament. Watson also coached a pair of All-America performers, one in each of the past two seasons, for ASU s first national honorees since Arizona State began the 2015 campaign with a 15-0 record and reached as high as No. 5 in the AVCA Top 25 poll. The Sun Devils also opened conference play with their best start in the Pac- 10/12 era with four wins including the program s first win over Stanford in 15 years. In 2014, ASU opened the season with six straight wins on the way to a record. The Sun Devils were ranked in each AVCA regular season poll. Making its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, ASU defeated Texas A&M 3-1 to advance to the second round of the Tournament for the first time since Watson led ASU to a overall record in 2013 including a 3-0 upset of then-ncaa defending champion Texas. The Sun Devils started the season without dropping a set in their first seven matches. Making its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, ASU dropped a five-set match to BYU in the first round. In 2012, the Sun Devil squad opened with an 11-2 record, the best start since The Sun Devils finished with 20 wins the most in a single season at ASU since The nine conference wins equaled the most since ASU made the program s 16th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and Watson became just the fifth coach from ASU to guide the Sun Devils to a NCAA postseason berth. Watson arrived as the head coach at ASU in In 2013, he was also named head coach of the sand volleyball team when the sport was added to the athletics program. In June 2015, Watson was selected by USA Volleyball to serve as the head coach of the U.S. Collegiate National Team on a sixmatch tour of China. In his three seasons at the helm of the BYU program, Watson compiled a (.804) overall record while leading BYU to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances. During his first season as head coach, Watson was named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 25-4 record, the program s best mark since In addition to leading BYU to the MWC regular-season title, Watson also helped lead the Cougars back to the NCAA Tournament. In 2007, he led the Cougars to a 24-8 overall record and an Elite 8 finish in the NCAA Regional Final. His team also finished the year ranked 12th nationally, and at one point through the season, the Cougars held a rank as high as ninth in the country. No stranger to the best competition, Watson s teams have been ranked as high as eighth on RPI, showing the character and strength of the teams he builds. Never backing down from challenges are also another hallmark trait of Watson-led teams. Prior to his head-coaching debut, Watson had amassed 11 years as an assistant coach at four universities. After an All-American playing career at BYU, Watson coached for two years under his former coach, Carl McGown, before beginning his career in women s volleyball with extremely successful stints at Kansas State, Arkansas State, and Montana State. Watson had an All-American playing career at BYU from , where he was a four-year starter and two-time captain. He graduated from BYU in 1995 with a degree in physical education and sports business management after leaving his native home of Homebush, Australia. He and his wife, Larissa, have two sons and a daughter. 4

5 Tournament. Arkansas will play 11 matches against eight teams that were ranked insde the final RPI Top 50. ACADEMIC SUCCESS For a second-straight year, Arkansas earned an AVCA Team Academic Award for the season. The Razorbacks tallied a 3.34 team GPA in the fall followed by a 3.42 mark during the spring semester. SUMMER IN DETROIT After National Team tryouts in March, sophomore Elizabeth Pamphile earned a spot on the 24-player U.S. Collegiate National Team-Detroit roster. Following a five-day training session in Ann Arbor, the CNT-Detroit team played in three exhibition matches in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships. NEWMAN-GONCHAR LEADS TEAM USA Associate head coach Jon Newman-Gonchar served as the head coach for the U.S. Women s National Team that won gold at the Pan American Cup. In the final, Team USA rallied from an 0-2 deficit to beat the host Dominican squad. SIDELINE ADDITIONS Justin Martin joined the program as volunteer assistant in July after six seasons at Ashland University that featured three Division II NCAA Tournament appearances. During the spring, Whitney Roth was named director of operations.
